A long-term measurement was conducted to search for $α$, double-$α$ and double-$β$ decays with $γ$ quanta emission in naturally occurring osmium isotopes. This study took advantage of two ultra-low background HPGe detectors and one ultra-low background BEGe detector at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) of the INFN. Over almost 5 years of data were taken using high-purity osmium samples of approximately 173 g. The half-life limits set for a decays of $^{184}$Os to the first $2^+$ 103.6 keV excited level of $^{180}$W ($T_{1/2} > 9.3 \times 10^{15}$ yr) and of $^{186}$Os to the first $2^+$ 100.1 keV of $^{182}$W ($T_{1/2} > 4.8 \times 10^{17}$ yr) exceed substantially the present theoretical predictions that are at level of $T_{1/2} \sim (0.6 - 3) \times 10^{15}$ yr for $^{184}$Os and $T_{1/2} \sim (0.3 - 2) \times 10^{17}$ yr for $^{186}$Os. New half-life limits on the 2EC and EC$β^+$ decay of $^{184}$Os to the ground and excited levels of $^{184}$W were set at level of $T_{1/2} > 10^{16} - 10^{17}$ yr; a lower limit on the $2β^-$ decay of $^{192}$Os to the $2^+$ 316.5 keV excited level of $^{192}$Pt was estimated as $T_{1/2} > 6.1 \times 10^{20}$ yr. The half-life limits for $2α$ decay of $^{189}$Os and $^{192}$Os were set for the first time at level of $T_{1/2} > 10^{20}$ yr.

Zinc tungstate (ZnWO$_4$) crystal scintillators are promising detection material for the experiments searching for double beta decay, dark matter, and investigating rare alpha decays. An extended R&D was performed to develop advanced quality ZnWO$_4$ crystal scintillators. The R&D programme included the selection of the initial materials, the variation of the compound stoichiometry, the application of single and double crystallization, and the annealing of the crystal boules. The optical transmittance of the produced boules was measured, and the luminescence under X-ray excitation in the temperature region from 85 K to room temperature was studied (thermally stimulated luminescence was measured till 350 K). The energy resolution and the relative scintillation pulse amplitude were measured with gamma-sources demonstrating high scintillation properties of the samples produced by single crystallization from deeply purified zinc and tungsten oxides, with stoichiometric composition, annealed in air atmosphere.

Experimental observations and theoretical arguments point out that Dark Matter (DM) particles are one of the most prominent component of the Universe. This motivated the pioneer DAMA experiment to investigate the presence of these particles in the galactic halo, by exploiting the model independent signature of the DM annual modulation of the rate and very highly radio-pure apparatus in underground site. In this paper the results obtained by other two annual cycles of DAMA/LIBRA-phase2 are presented and the long-standing model-independent annual modulation effect measured by DAMA deep underground at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) of the I.N.F.N. with different experimental configurations is summarized. The improved experimental configuration of DAMA/LIBRA-phase2, $\simeq$ 250 kg highly radio-pure NaI(Tl), allowed to lower the software energy threshold. The total exposure of DAMA/LIBRA-phase2 over 8 annual cycles is 1.53 ton $\times$ yr. DAMA/LIBRA-phase2 confirms the evidence of a signal that meets all the requirements of the model independent Dark Matter annual modulation signature, at 11.8 $σ$ C.L. in the energy region (1-6) keV. In the energy region between 2 and 6 keV, where data are also available from DAMA/NaI and DAMA/LIBRA-phase1 (2.86 ton $\times$ yr), the achieved C.L. is 13.7 $σ$; the modulation amplitude of the single-hit scintillation events is: $(0.01014 \pm 0.00074)$ cpd/kg/keV, the measured phase is $(142.4 \pm 4.2)$ days and the measured period is $(0.99834 \pm 0.00067)$ yr, all these values are well in agreement with those expected for DM particles. No systematics or side reaction able to mimic the exploited DM signature (i.e. to account for the whole measured modulation amplitude and to simultaneously satisfy all the requirements of the signature), has been found or suggested by anyone throughout some decades thus far.

New improved half-life limits were set on the different channels and modes of the $^{106}$Cd double beta decay at level of $\lim T_{1/2}\sim 10^{20}-10^{22}$ yr. The limit for the two neutrino electron capture with positron emission in $^{106}$Cd to the ground state of $^{106}$Pd, $T^{2ν\mathrm{EC}β^+}_{1/2}\geq2.1\times 10^{21}$ yr, was set by the analysis of the $^{106}$CdWO$_4$ data in coincidence with the energy release 511 keV in both CdWO$_4$ counters. The sensitivity approaches the theoretical predictions for the decay half-life that are in the range $T_{1/2}\sim10^{21}-10^{22}$ yr. After 15851 h of data taking with the $γ$-detector no effect has been detected, and lower limits on the $α$ decays were set at level of $\lim T_{1/2}\sim 10^{15}-10^{19}$ yr. The limits for the $α$ decays of $^{184}$Os and $^{186}$Os to the first excited levels of daughter nuclei, $T_{1/2}(^{184}$Os$)\geq 6.8\times10^{15}$ yr and $T_{1/2}(^{186}$Os$)\geq3.3\times10^{17}$ yr (at 90% C.L.), exceed the present theoretical estimates of the decays half-lives. For $^{189}$Os and $^{192}$Os also decays to the ground states of the daughter nuclei were searched for due to the instability of the daughter nuclides relative to $β$ decay.

Recently, in the framework of the ADAMO project, an R\&D to develop high quality and ultra-radiopure ZnWO$_4$ crystal scintillators has been carried out. In the present paper the measurements to study the anisotropic response of a ZnWO$_4$ to $α$ particles and to nuclear recoils induced by neutron scattering are reported. Monochromatic neutrons have been produced by a neutron generator at ENEA-CASACCIA. The quenching factor values for nuclear recoils along different crystallographic axes have been determined for three different nuclear recoils energies. These results open the possibility to realize a pioneer experiment to investigate the above mentioned DM candidates by means of the directionality.

Anisotropic scintillators can offer a unique possibility to exploit the so-called directionality approach in order to investigate the presence of those Dark Matter (DM) candidates inducing nuclear recoils. In fact, their use can overcome the difficulty of detecting extremely short nuclear recoil traces. In this paper we present recent measurements performed on the anisotropic response of a ZnWO$_4$ crystal scintillator to nuclear recoils, in the framework of the ADAMO project. The anisotropic features of the ZnWO$_4$ crystal scintillators were initially measured with $α$ particles; those results have been also confirmed by the additional measurements presented here. The experimental nuclear recoil data were obtained by using a neutron generator at ENEA-CASACCIA and neutron detectors to tag the scattered neutrons; in particular, the quenching factor values for nuclear recoils along different crystallographic axes have been determined for three different neutron scattering angles (i.e. nuclear recoils energies). From these measurements, the anisotropy of the light response for nuclear recoils in the ZnWO$_4$ crystal scintillator has been determined at 5.4 standard deviations.

The current status of the experimental searches for rare alpha and beta decays is reviewed. Several interesting observations of alpha and beta decays, previously unseen due to their large half-lives ($10^{15} - 10^{20}$ yr), have been achieved during the last years thanks to the improvements in the experimental techniques and to the underground locations of experiments that allows to suppress backgrounds. In particular, the list includes first observations of alpha decays of $^{151}$Eu, $^{180}$W (both to the ground state of the daughter nuclei), $^{190}$Pt (to excited state of the daughter nucleus), $^{209}$Bi (to the ground and excited states of the daughter nucleus). The isotope $^{209}$Bi has the longest known half-life of $T_{1/2} \approx 10^{19}$ yr relatively to alpha decay. The beta decay of $^{115}$In to the first excited state of $^{115}$Sn (E$_{exc} = 497.334$ keV), recently observed for the first time, has the $Q_β$ value of only $(147 \pm 10)$ eV, which is the lowest $Q_β$ value known to-date. Searches and investigations of other rare alpha and beta decays ($^{48}$Ca, $^{50}$V, $^{96}$Zr, $^{113}$Cd, $^{123}$Te, $^{178m2}$Hf, $^{180m}$Ta and others) are also discussed.

The cumulative exposure above 2 keV considering also DAMA/NaI and DAMA/LIBRA--phase1 results is now 2.46 ton $\times$ yr. The analysis permits to constraint the parameters' space of the considered candidates restricting their values -- with respect to previous analyses -- thanks to the increase of the exposure and to the lower energy threshold.

No gamma associated to double beta processes in $^{168}$Yb have been observed after 2074 h of data taking. This has allowed setting the half-life limits on the level of $\lim T_{1/2}\sim$ $10^{14}-10^{18}$ yr at 90\% C.L. Particularly, a lower half-life limit on a possible resonant neutrinoless double-electron capture in $^{168}$Yb to the $(2)^-$ 1403.7 keV excited state of $^{168}$Er is set as $T_{1/2}\geq1.9\times 10^{18}$ yr at 90\% C.L. Half-life limits $T_{1/2}^{2ν(0ν)}\geq 4.5(4.3)\times10^{16}$ yr were set on the $2ν(0ν)2β^-$ decay of $^{176}$Yb to the $2^+$ 84.3 keV first excited level of $^{176}$Hf.

Fast photomultiplier tube and high frequency oscilloscope were used to acquire the scintillation signals waveforms. The algorithms were developed to find pairs of $^{212}$Bi beta-decays and subsequent $^{212}$Po alpha-decays, to calculate time differences between the events in the pair, and to build $^{212}$Bi beta-decay and $^{212}$Po alpha-decay energy spectra. Preliminary the $^{212}$Po half-life is $T_{1/2} = (294.8 \pm 1.9)$ ns. The experiment is in progress aiming at reduction of the statistical and systematic uncertainties.

A new improved limit on the 0$ν$2$β$ decay of $^{116}$Cd to the ground state of $^{116}$Sn was set as $T_{1/2}\geq 2.2 \times 10^{23}$ yr at 90\% C.L., which is the most stringent known restriction for this isotope. It corresponds to the effective Majorana neutrino mass limit in the range $\langle m_ν\rangle\le(1.0-1.7)$ eV, depending on the nuclear matrix elements used in the estimations. New improved half-life limits for the 0$ν$2$β$ decay with majoron(s) emission, Lorentz-violating $2\nu2β$ decay and $2β$ transitions to excited states of $^{116}$Sn were set at the level of $T_{1/2}\geq 10^{20}-10^{22}$ yr. New limits for the hypothetical lepton-number violating parameters (right-handed currents admixtures in weak interaction, the effective majoron-neutrino coupling constants, R-parity violating parameter, Lorentz-violating parameter, heavy neutrino mass) were set.

A highly purified 2.381-kg sample of neodymium oxide (Nd$_2$O$_3$) was used as a source of $γ$ quanta expected in the decays. Gamma quanta with energies 334.0 keV and 406.5 keV emitted after deexcitation of the $0_1^+$ 740.5 keV level of $^{150}$Sm are observed in the coincidence spectra accumulated over 16375 h. The half-life relatively to the two neutrino double beta decay $^{150}$Nd $\rightarrow$ $^{150}$Sm(0$_1^+$) is measured as $T_{1/2} = [4.7_{-1.9}^{+4.1}\text{(stat)} {\pm} 0.5\text{(syst)}] {\times} 10^{19} y$, in agreement with results of previous experiments.

The first model independent results obtained by the DAMA/LIBRA-phase2 experiment are presented. The data have been collected over 6 annual cycles corresponding to a total exposure of 1.13 ton $\times$ yr, deep underground at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory (LNGS) of the I.N.F.N. The DAMA/LIBRA-phase2 apparatus, $\simeq$ 250 kg highly radio-pure NaI(Tl), profits from a second generation high quantum efficiency photomultipliers and of new electronics with respect to DAMA/LIBRA-phase1. The improved experimental configuration has also allowed to lower the software energy threshold. New data analysis strategies are presented. The DAMA/LIBRA-phase2 data confirm the evidence of a signal that meets all the requirements of the model independent Dark Matter (DM) annual modulation signature, at 9.5 $σ$ C.L. in the energy region (1-6) keV. In the energy region between 2 and 6 keV, where data are also available from DAMA/NaI and DAMA/LIBRA-phase1 (exposure $1.33$ ton $\times$ yr, collected over 14 annual cycles), the achieved C.L. for the full exposure (2.46 ton $\times$ yr) is 12.9 $σ$; the modulation amplitude of the single-hit scintillation events is: $(0.0103 \pm 0.0008)$ cpd/kg/keV, the measured phase is $(145 \pm 5)$ days and the measured period is $(0.999 \pm 0.001)$ yr, all these values are well in agreement with those expected for DM particles. No systematics or side reaction able to mimic the exploited DM signature (i.e. to account for the whole measured modulation amplitude and to simultaneously satisfy all the requirements of the signature), has been found or suggested by anyone throughout some decades thus far.

We propose to deploy limits that arise from different tests of the Pauli Exclusion Principle in order: i) to provide theories of quantum gravity with an experimental guidance; ii) to distinguish among the plethora of possible models the ones that are already ruled out by current data; iii) to direct future attempts to be in accordance with experimental constraints. We firstly review experimental bounds on nuclear processes forbidden by the Pauli Exclusion Principle, which have been derived by several experimental collaborations making use of different detector materials. Distinct features of the experimental devices entail sensitivities on the constraints hitherto achieved that may differ one another by several orders of magnitude. We show that with choices of these limits, renown examples of flat noncommutative space-time instantiations of quantum gravity can be heavily constrained, and eventually ruled out. We devote particular attention to the analysis of the $κ$-Minkowski and $θ$-Minkowski noncommutative spacetimes. These are deeply connected to some scenarios in string theory, loop quantum gravity and noncommutative geometry. We emphasize that the severe constraints on these quantum spacetimes, although cannot rule out theories of top-down quantum gravity to whom are connected in various way, provide a powerful limitations of those models that it will make sense to focus on in the future.

The DAMA experiment using ultra low background NaI(Tl) crystal scintillators has measured an annual modulation effect in the keV region which satisfies all the peculiarities of an effect induced by Dark Matter particles. In this paper we analyze this annual modulation effect in terms of mirror Dark Matter, an exact duplicate of ordinary matter from parallel hidden sector, which chemical composition is dominated by mirror helium while it can also contain significant fractions of heavier elements as Carbon and Oxygen. Dark mirror atoms are considered to interact with the target nuclei in the detector via Rutherford-like scattering induced by kinetic mixing between mirror and ordinary photons, both being massless. In the present analysis we consider various possible scenarios for the mirror matter chemical composition. For all the scenarios, the relevant ranges for the kinetic mixing parameter have been obtained taking also into account various existing uncertainties in nuclear and particle physics quantities.

The Aurora experiment to investigate double beta decay of $^{116}$Cd with the help of 1.162 kg cadmium tungstate crystal scintillators enriched in $^{116}$Cd to 82\% is in progress at the Gran Sasso Underground Laboratory. The half-life of $^{116}$Cd relatively to the two neutrino double beta decay is measured with the highest up-to-date accuracy $T_{1/2}=(2.62\pm0.14)\times10^{19}$ yr. The sensitivity of the experiment to the neutrinoless double beta decay of $^{116}$Cd to the ground state of $^{116}$Sn is estimated as $T_{1/2} \geq 1.9\times10^{23}$ yr at 90\% CL, which corresponds to the effective Majorana neutrino mass limit $\langle m_ν\rangle \leq (1.2-1.8)$ eV. New limits are obtained for the double beta decay of $^{116}$Cd to the excited levels of $^{116}$Sn, and for the neutrinoless double beta decay with emission of majorons.

The long-standing model-independent annual modulation effect measured by DAMA Collaboration is examined in the context of asymmetric mirror dark matter, assuming that dark atoms interact with target nuclei in the detector via kinetic mixing between mirror and ordinary photons, both being massless. The relevant ranges for the kinetic mixing parameter are obtained taking into account various existing uncertainties in nuclear and particle physics quantities as well as characteristic density and velocity distributions of dark matter in different halo models.

In the present paper the results obtained in the investigation of possible diurnal effects for low-energy single-hit scintillation events of DAMA/LIBRA-phase1 (1.04 ton $\times$ yr exposure) have been analysed in terms of an effect expected in case of Dark Matter (DM) candidates inducing nuclear recoils and having high cross-section with ordinary matter, which implies low DM local density in order to fulfill the DAMA/LIBRA DM annual modulation results. This effect is due to the different Earth depths crossed by those DM candidates during the sidereal day.

The data collected with a radioactively pure ZnWO$_4$ crystal scintillator (699 g) in low background measurements during 2130 h at the underground (3600 m w.e.) Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (INFN, Italy) were used to set a limit on possible concentration of superheavy eka-W (seaborgium Sg, Z = 106) in the crystal. Assuming that one of the daughters in a chain of decays of the initial Sg nucleus decays with emission of high energy $α$ particle ($Q_α> 8$ MeV) and analyzing the high energy part of the measured $α$ spectrum, the limit N(Sg)/N(W) < 5.5 $\times$ 10$^{-14}$ atoms/atom at 90% C.L. was obtained (for Sg half-life of 10$^9$ yr). In addition, a limit on the concentration of eka-Bi was set by analysing the data collected with a large BGO scintillation bolometer in an experiment performed by another group [L. Cardani et al., JINST 7 (2012) P10022]: N(eka-Bi)/N(Bi) < 1.1 $\times$ 10$^{-13}$ atoms/atom with 90% C.L. Both the limits are comparable with those obtained in recent experiments which instead look for spontaneous fission of superheavy elements or use the accelerator mass spectrometry.

A small sample of natural Sn was examined for 2367.5 h. The radioactive contamination of the sample has been estimated. The data has also been considered to calculate the present sensitivity for the proposed search; half-life limits $\sim$ $10^{17} - 10^{18}$ years for $β^{+}$EC and EC-EC processes in $^{112}$Sn and $\sim$ $10^{18}$ years for $β^{-}β^{-}$ transition in $^{124}$Sn were measured. In the last section of the paper the enhancement of the sensitivity for a proposed experiment with larger mass to reach theoretically estimated values of half-lives is discussed.

The half-life of $^{212}$Po (present in the crystal scintillator due to contamination by radium) was measured as $T_{1/2}(^{212}$Po) = 298.8$\pm$0.8(stat.)$\pm$1.4(syst.) ns by analysis of the events' pulse profiles. The $^{222}$Rn nuclide is known as 100% decaying via emission of $α$ particle with $T_{1/2}$ = 3.82 d; however, its $β$ decay is also energetically allowed with $Q_β= 24\pm21$ keV. Search for decay chains of events with specific pulse shapes characteristic for $α$ or for $β/γ$ signals and with known energies and time differences allowed us to set, for the first time, the limit on the branching ratio of $^{222}$Rn relatively to $β$ decay as $B_β< 0.13$% at 90% C.L. (equivalent to limit on partial half-life $T_{1/2}^β> 8.0$ y). Half-life limits of $^{212}$Pb, $^{222}$Rn and $^{226}$Ra relatively to $2β$ decays are also improved in comparison with the earlier results.

At the present level of sensitivity the presence of any significant diurnal variation and of diurnal time structures in the data can be excluded for both the cases of solar and sidereal time. In particular, the diurnal modulation amplitude expected, because of the Earth diurnal motion, on the basis of the DAMA Dark Matter annual modulation results is below the present sensitivity.

The DAMA/LIBRA experiment is composed by about 250 kg of highly radiopure NaI(Tl). It is in operation at the underground Gran Sasso National Laboratory of the INFN. The main aim of the experiment is to investigate the Dark Matter (DM) particles in the Galactic halo by exploiting the model independent DM annual modulation signature. The DAMA/LIBRA experiment and the former DAMA/NaI (the first generation experiment having an exposed mass of about 100 kg) have released results corresponding to a total exposure of 1.17 ton $\times$ yr over 13 annual cycles; they have provided a model independent evidence of the presence of DM particles in the galactic halo at 8.9 $σ$ C.L.. The results of a further annual cycle, concluding the DAMA/LIBRA--phase1, have been released after this Workshop and are not included here. In the fall 2010 an important upgrade of the experiment have been performed. All the PMTs of the NaI(Tl) detectors have been replaced with new ones having higher quantum efficiency with the aim to decrease the software energy threshold considered in the data analysis. The perspectives of the running DAMA/LIBRA--phase2 will be shortly summarized.

The radioactive contamination of the $^{116}$CdWO$_4$ crystals has been studied carefully to reconstruct the background of the detector. The measured half-life of $^{116}$Cd relatively to 2$ν$2$β$ decay is $T^{2\nu2β}_{1/2}$ = [2.8 $\pm$ 0.05(stat.) $\pm$ 0.4(syst.)] $\times$ 10$^{19}$ yr, in agreement with the results of previous experiments. The obtained limit on the 0$ν$2$β$ decay of $^{116}$Cd (considering the data of the last 8696 h run with an advanced background 0.12(2) counts/yr/kg/keV in the energy interval 2.7-2.9 MeV) is $T_{1/2} \ge 1.0 \times 10^{23}$ yr at 90% C.L. The sensitivity of the experiment to the $0\nu2β$ process is $\lim T_{1/2} = 3 \times 10^{23}$ yr at 90% C.L. over 5 years of the measurements and it can be advanced (by further reduction of the background by a factor 3-30) to the level of $\lim T_{1/2} = (0.5-1.5) \times 10^{24}$ yr for the same period of the data taking.

The DAMA/LIBRA-phase1 data give evidence for the presence of Dark Matter (DM) particles in the galactic halo, on the basis of the exploited model independent DM annual modulation signature by using highly radio-pure NaI(Tl) target, at 7.5 sigma C.L.. Including also the first generation DAMA/NaI experiment (cumulative exposure 1.33 ton x yr, corresponding to 14 annual cycles), the C.L. is 9.3 sigma and the modulation amplitude of the single-hit events in the (2-6) keV energy interval is: (0.0112 \pm 0.0012) cpd/kg/keV; the measured phase is (144 \pm 7) days and the measured period is (0.998 \pm 0.002) yr, values well in agreement with those expected for DM particles. No systematic or side reaction able to mimic the exploited DM signature has been found or suggested by anyone over more than a decade.

In particular, the best T1/2 limits were obtained for double beta processes in 96Ru and 104Ru. Several isotopes, which potentially decay through different double beta decay channels, including also possible resonant double electron captures, were investigated for the first time (156Dy, 158Dy, 184Os, 192Os, 190Pt, 198Pt). Search for resonant absorption of solar 7Li axions in a LiF crystal gave the best limit for the mass of 7Li axions (< 8.6 keV). Rare alpha decay of 190Pt to the first excited level of 186Os (Eexc = 137.2 keV) was observed for the first time.

This has motivated the DAMA experimental efforts to investigate the presence of such particles in the galactic halo by exploiting a model independent signature and very highly radiopure set-ups deep underground. Few introductory arguments are summarized before presenting a review of the present model independent positive results obtained by the DAMA/NaI and DAMA/LIBRA set-ups at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory of the INFN. Implications and model dependent comparisons with other different kinds of results will be shortly addressed. Some arguments put forward in literature will be confuted.

Abstract:
A new search for production of correlated e+e- pairs in the alpha decay of 241Am has been carried out deep underground at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory of the I.N.F.N. by using pairs of NaI(Tl) detectors of the DAMA/LIBRA set-up. A new search for production of correlated e+e- pairs in the alpha decay of 241Am has been carried out deep underground at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory of the I.N.F.N. by using pairs of NaI(Tl) detectors of the DAMA/LIBRA set-up. The experimental data show an excess of double coincidences of events with energy around 511 keV in faced pairs of detectors, which are not explained by known side reactions. This measured excess gives a relative activity lambda = (4.70 \pm 0.63) \times 10^{-9} for the Internal Pair Production (IPP) with respect to alpha decay of 241Am; this value is of the same order of magnitude as previous determinations. In a conservative approach the upper limit lambda < 5.5 \times 10^{-9} (90% C.L.) can be derived. It is worth noting that this is the first result on IPP obtained in an underground experiment, and that the lambda value obtained in the present work is independent on the live-time estimate.

An experiment to search for double beta decay processes in 96Ru and 104Ru, which are accompanied by gamma rays, has been realized in the underground Gran Sasso National Laboratories of the I.N.F.N. (Italy). Ruthenium samples with masses of about (0.5-0.7) kg were measured with the help of ultra-low background high purity Ge gamma ray spectrometry. After 2162 h of data taking the samples were deeply purified to reduce the internal contamination of 40K. The last part of the data has been accumulated over 5479 h. New improved half life limits on 2β+/εβ+/2ε processes in 96Ru have been established on the level of 10^{20} yr, in particular for decays to the ground state of 96Mo: T1/2(2ν2β+) > 1.4 10^{20} yr, T1/2(2νεβ+) > 8.0 10^{19} yr and T1/2(0ν2K) > 1.0 10^{21} yr (all limits are at 90% C.L.). The resonant neutrinoless double electron captures to the 2700.2 keV and 2712.7 keV excited states of 96Mo are restricted as: T1/2(0νKL) > 2.0 10^{20} yr and T1/2(0ν2L) > 3.6 10^{20} yr, respectively. Various two neutrino and neutrinoless 2β half lives of 96Ru have been estimated in the framework of the QRPA approach. In addition, the T1/2 limit for 0ν2β- transitions of 104Ru to the first excited state of 104Pd has been set as > 6.5 10^{20} yr.

The DAMA/LIBRA experiment, running at the Gran Sasso National Laboratory of the I.N.F.N. in Italy, has a sensitive mass of about 250 kg highly radiopure NaI(Tl). It is mainly devoted to the investigation of Dark Matter (DM) particles in the Galactic halo by exploiting the model independent DM annual modulation signature. The present DAMA/LIBRA experiment and the former DAMA/NaI one (the first generation experiment having an exposed mass of about 100 kg) have released so far results corresponding to a total exposure of 1.17 ton yr over 13 annual cycles. They provide a model independent evidence of the presence of DM particles in the galactic halo at 8.9 sigma C.L.. A short summary of the obtained results is presented and future perspectives of the experiment mentioned.
