Title:Minimal models and transport properties of unconventional $p$-wave magnets
View PDF HTML (experimental)Abstract:New unconventional compensated magnets have been discovered in the wake of altermagnets. We introduce a minimal tight-binding model with a spin-split $p$-wave band structure, clarifying the relation between unconventional $p$-wave magnets and helimagnets. Motivated by the tight-binding model, we construct an effective model suitable for analytical calculations. We evaluate the tunneling conductance in junctions with $p$-wave magnets, revealing a large magnetoresistance despite the absence of a net magnetization. The bulk transport properties reveal anisotropic spin conductivity beyond linear response. These results show that unconventional $p$-wave magnets offer several useful functionalities for spintronics devices.
