Quantum correlations between two or more different degrees of freedom of the same particle is sometimes referred to as intraparticle entanglement. In this work, we study these intra-particle correlations between two different degrees of freedom under various decoherence channels viz. amplitude dam**, depolarising and phase dam** channels. We observe a unique feature of the amplitude dam** channel, wherein entanglement is shown to arise starting from separable states. In case of non maximally entangled input states, in addition to entanglement sudden death, the creation of entanglement is also observed, having an asymptotic decay over a long time. These counter-intuitive behaviours arise due to the subtle interplay of channel and input state parameters, and are not seen for interparticle entanglement without consideration of non-Markovian noise. It is also not observed for maximally entangled input states. Furthermore, investigation of entanglement evolution in phase dam** and depolarizing channels shows its robustness against decoherence as compared to interparticle entanglement.

We present a software tool-set which combines the theoretical, optimal control view of quantum devices with the practical operation and characterization tasks required for quantum computing. In the same framework, we perform model-based simulations to create control schemes, calibrate these controls in a closed-loop with the device (or in this demo - by emulating the experimental process) and finally improve the system model through minimization of the mismatch between simulation and experiment, resulting in a digital twin of the device. The model based simulator is implemented using TensorFlow, for numeric efficiency, scalability and to make use of automatic differentiation, which enables gradient-based optimization for arbitrary models and control schemes. Optimizations are carried out with a collection of state-of-the-art algorithms originated in the field of machine learning. All of this comes with a user-friendly Qiskit interface, which allows end-users to easily simulate their quantum circuits on a high-fidelity differentiable physics simulator.

Efforts to scale-up quantum computation have reached a point where the principal limiting factor is not the number of qubits, but the entangling gate infidelity. However, the highly detailed system characterization required to understand the underlying error sources is an arduous process and impractical with increasing chip size. Open-loop optimal control techniques allow for the improvement of gates but are limited by the models they are based on. To rectify the situation, we provide an integrated open-source tool-set for Control, Calibration and Characterization, capable of open-loop pulse optimization, model-free calibration, model fitting and refinement. We present a methodology to combine these tools to find a quantitatively accurate system model, high-fidelity gates and an approximate error budget, all based on a high-performance, feature-rich simulator. We illustrate our methods using simulated fixed-frequency superconducting qubits for which we learn model parameters with less than 1% error and derive a coherence limited cross-resonance (CR) gate that achieves 99.6% fidelity without need for calibration.

Abstract:
Three flavoured neutrino oscillations are investigated in the light of the Leggett-Garg inequality. The outline of an experimental proposal is suggested whereby the findings of this investigation may be verified. The results obtained are: (a) The maximum violation of the Leggett Garg Inequality (LGI) is $2.17036$ for neutrino path length $L_{1}=140.15 $ Km and $ΔL=1255.7 $ Km.(b) Presence of the m…

(d)Presence of CP violating phase parameter enhances the maximum violation of LGI by $0.24\%$, thus providing an \textit{alternative indicator of CP violation} in 3-flavoured neutrino oscillations.

Violation of the Leggett-Garg inequality (LGI) implies quantum phenomena. In this light we establish that the Moreva \textit{et al.} \cite{moreva} experiment demonstrating the Page-Wootter's mechanism \cite{wootters} falls in the quantum domain. Violation of the Leggett-Garg inequality (LGI) implies quantum phenomena. In this light we establish that the Moreva \textit{et al.} \cite{moreva} experiment demonstrating the Page-Wootter's mechanism \cite{wootters} falls in the quantum domain. An observer outside a 2-photons world does not detect any change in the $2-$photons state,i.e. there is no time parameter for the outside observer. But an observer attached to one of the photons sees the other photon evolving and this means there is an "internal" time. The LGI is violated for the clock photon whose state evolves with the internal time as measured by the system photon. Conditional probabilities in this 2-photons system are computed for both sharp and unsharp measurements. The conditional probability increases for entangled states as obtained by Page and Wootters for both ideal and also unsharp measurements. We discuss how the conditional probabilities can be used to distinguish between massless and massive gravitons. This is important in the context of gravitational waves.

We re-analyse the Bužek-Hillery Universal Quantum Cloning machine protocol and show that it allows better values for fidelity and Hilbert-Schmidt norm than hitherto reported. This higher value for the fidelity is identical to the maximum fidelity of phase covariant quantum cloning of Bruß-Cinchetti-D'Ariano-Macchiavello. This value of fidelity has also been obtained by Niu and Griffiths in their work without machine states. This is the maximum possible fidelity obtainable in $1\rightarrow 2$ qubits cloning. We then describe a different and new state dependent cloning protocol with four machine states where all non-exact copies of input states are taken into account in the output and we use the Hessian method of determining extrema of multivariate functions. The fidelity for the best overall quantum cloning in this protocol is $\bar{F}=0.847$ with an associated von-Neumann entropy of $\bar{S}=0.825$.

The Leggett-Garg inequality (LGI) as a temporal analogue of Bell's inequality, derived using the notion of realism, is applied in a hitherto unexplored context involving the weak interaction induced two-state oscillations of decaying neutral kaons and neutrinos. The maximum violation of LGI obtained from the quantum mechanical results is significantly higher for the oscillating neutrinos compared to that for the kaons. Interestingly, the effect of CP non-invariance for the kaon oscillation is to enhance this violation while, for neutrinos, it is sensitive to the value of the mixing parameter.
