Multiple quantum exceptional, diabolical, and hybrid points in multimode bosonic systems: II. Nonconventional PT-symmetric dynamics and unidirectional coupling
Abstract: We analyze the existence and degeneracies of quantum exceptional, diabolical, and hybrid points of simple bosonic systems, composed of up to six modes with dam** and/or amplification and exhibiting nonconventional dynamics. They involve the configurations in which the dynamics typical for PT-symmetric systems is observed only in a subspace of the whole Liouville space of the system states (nonco… ▽ More

Multiple quantum exceptional, diabolical, and hybrid points in multimode bosonic systems: I. Inherited and genuine singularities
Abstract: The existence and degeneracies of quantum exceptional, diabolical, and hybrid (i.e., diabolically degenerated exceptional) singularities of simple bosonic systems composed of up to five modes with dam** and/or amplification are analyzed. Their dynamics governed by quadratic non-Hermitian Hamiltonians is followed using the Heisenberg-Langevin equations. Conditions for the observation of inherited… ▽ More

The effect of thermal photons on exceptional points in coupled resonators
Abstract: We analyse two quantum systems with hidden parity-time (PT) symmetry: one is an optical device, whereas another is a superconducting microwave-frequency device. To investigate their symmetry, we introduce an equilibrium frame, in which loss and gain terms for a given Hamiltonian are balanced. We show that the non-Hermitian Hamiltonians of both systems can be tuned to reach an exceptional point (EP… ▽ More

Hybrid photon-phonon blockade
Abstract: We describe a novel type of blockade in a hybrid mode generated by linear coupling of photonic and phononic modes. We refer to this effect as hybrid photon-phonon blockade and show how it can be generated and detected in a driven nonlinear optomechanical superconducting system. Thus, we study boson-number correlations in the photon, phonon, and hybrid modes in linearly coupled microwave and mechan… ▽ More

Quantum Liouvillian exceptional and diabolical points for bosonic fields with quadratic Hamiltonians: The Heisenberg-Langevin equation approach
Abstract: Equivalent approaches to determine eigenfrequencies of the Liouvillians of open quantum systems are discussed using the solution of the Heisenberg-Langevin equations and the corresponding equations for operator moments. A simple damped two-level atom is analyzed to demonstrate the equivalence of both approaches. The suggested method is used to reveal the structure as well as eigenfrequencies of th… ▽ More

Rotation-time symmetry in bosonic systems and the existence of exceptional points in the absence of $\mathcal{PT}$ symmetry
Abstract: We study symmetries of open bosonic systems in the presence of laser pum**. Non-Hermitian Hamiltonians describing these systems can be parity-time (${\cal{PT}}$) symmetric in special cases only. Systems exhibiting this symmetry are characterised by real-valued energy spectra and can display exceptional points, where a symmetry-breaking transition occurs. We demonstrate that there is a more gener… ▽ More

Equilibrium frame reveals hidden PT symmetry of passive systems
Abstract: We discuss how introducing an equilibrium frame, in which a given Hamiltonian has balanced loss and gain terms, can reveal PT symmetry hidden in non-Hermitian Hamiltonians of dissipative systems. Passive PT-symmetric Hamiltonians, in which only loss is present and gain is absent, can also display exceptional points, just like PT-symmetric systems, and therefore are extensively investigated. We dem… ▽ More

Two-photon blockade and photon-induced tunneling generated by squeezing
Abstract: Inspired by the recent experiment of Hamsen et al. [Phys. Rev. Quantum correlations and entanglement in a model comprised of a short chain of nonlinear oscillators
Abstract: We discuss a model comprised of a chain of three Kerr-like nonlinear oscillators pumped by two modes of external coherent field. We show that the system can be treated as nonlinear quantum scissors and behave as a three-qubit model. For such situation, different types of tripartite entangled states can be generated, even when dam** effects are present in the system. Some amount of such entanglem… ▽ More

Nonlinear coupler operating on Werner-like states - entanglement creation, its enhancement and preservation
Abstract: We discuss a model of two nonlinear Kerr-like oscillators, mutually coupled and excited by parametric process. We show that the system's evolution, starting from Werner-like states, remains closed within a small set of two-mode n-photon states the system, and pure two-qubit entangled state can be generated. For some initial Werner-like states delayed entanglement generation can be observed. We inv… ▽ More

Quantum scissors - finite-dimensional states engineering
Abstract: This work discusses quantum states defined in a finite-dimensional Hilbert space. In particular, after the presentation of some of them and their basic properties the work concentrates on the group of the quantum optical models that can be referred to as \textit{quantum optical scissors}. Such "devices" can generate on their outputs states that are finite-dimensional, and simultaneously use for su… ▽ More

Kullback-Leibler quantum divergence as an indicator of quantum chaos
Abstract: We discuss a system of a nonlinear Kerr-like oscillator externally pumped by ultra-short, external, coherent pulses. For such a system, we analyse the application of the Kullback-Leibler quantum divergence $K[ρ||σ]$ to the detection of quantum chaotic behaviour. Defining linear and nonlinear quantum divergences, and calculating their power spectra, we show that these parameters are more suitable i… ▽ More

Squeezed vacuum reservoir effect for entanglement decay in nonlinear quantum scissors system
Abstract: We discuss the coupler system of two nonlinear oscillators excited by an external coherent field prepared in a maximally entangled state (Bell-like state). We show that as a result of the coupler interaction of the system with external broadband squeezed vacuum bath, entanglement decay dynamics can be considerably affected. Sudden Death and Birth of Entanglement Effects for Kerr-Nonlinear Coupler
Abstract: We analyse the entanglement dynamics in a nonlinear Kerr-like coupler interacting with external environment. Whenever the reservoir is in a thermal vacuum state the entanglement (measured by concurrence for a two-qubit system) exhibits regular oscillations of decreasing amplitude. In contrast, for thermal reservoirs we can observe dark periods in concurrence oscillations (which can be called a "… ▽ More

Wigner function non-classicality as indicator of quantum chaos
Abstract: We propose a Wigner function based parameter that can be used as an indicator of quantum chaos. We perform our considerations for the system of damped nonlinear (Kerr-like) oscillator excited by a series of ultra-short external pulses.
