Standard weak measurement with an assistant pointer and single weak interaction constrains measurement precision and quantity of interaction parameters, and a compelling characterization of quantum effect featuring weak-value amplification (WVA) remains elusive. Here, we theoretically and experimentally demonstrate an enhanced dual-pointer WVA scheme based on multiple weak interactions and variable spectrum sources. Develo** triple weak interactions, momentum P pointer reaches an optimal time-difference precision of $3.34 \times {10^{-5}}$ as at 6 nm spectral width, and intensity I pointer achieves a displacement resolution of 148.8 fm within 400 kHz linewidth. A quantum effect associated with an anomalous weak value is revealed by an observable violation of a Leggett-Garg inequality. The I-pointer weak value is measured to be 1478 using multiple weak interactions and high signal-to-noise detection, achieving a two-order-of-magnitude WVA enhancement compared to standard weak measurement. Our work opens up a practical avenue for minuscule quantumness measurements in challenging environments.

Boson sampling is one of the most attractive quantum computation models to demonstrate the quantum computational advantage. However, this aim may be hard to realize considering noise sources such as photon distinguishability. Inspired by the Bayesian validation developed to evaluate whether photon distinguishability is too high to demonstrate the quantum computational advantage, we develop the pattern recognition validation for boson sampling. Based on clusters constructed with the K means++ method, the distribution of test values is nearly monotonically changed with the photon indistinguishability, especially when photons are close to be indistinguishable. We analyze the intrinsic data structure through calculating probability distributions and mean 2-norm distances of the sorted outputs. Approximation algorithms are also used to show the data structure changes with photon distinguishability.

Nonlinear phenomena represent one of the central topics in the study of wave-matter interactions and constitute the key blocks for various applications in optical communication, computing, sensing, and imaging. In this work, we show that by employing the interactions between microwave photons and electron spins of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers, one can realize a variety of nonlinear effects, ranging from the resonance at the sum or difference frequency of two or more waves to electromagnetically induced transparency from the interference between spin transitions. We further verify the phase coherence through two-photon Rabi-oscillation measurements. The highly sensitive, optically detected NV-center dynamics not only provides a platform for studying magnetically induced nonlinearities but also promises novel functionalities in quantum control and quantum sensing.

In 2021, Wu et al. presented a multi-party quantum summation scheme exploiting the entanglement properties of d-dimensional Bell states (Wu et al. in Quantum Inf Process 20:200, 2021). In particular, the authors proposed a three-party quantum summation protocol and then extended their work to a multi-party case. It is claimed that their protocol is secure against outside and participants' attacks. However, this work points out that Wu's protocol has a loophole, i.e., two or more dishonest participants who meet a specific location relationship can conspire to obtain the private inputs of some honest participants without being detected. Accordingly, improvements are proposed to address these issues.

Dual-species single-atom array in optical tweezers has several advantages over the single-species atom array as a platform for quantum computing and quantum simulation. Thus, creating the defect-free dual-species single-atom array with atom numbers over hundreds is essential. As recent experiments demonstrated, one of the main difficulties lies in designing an efficient algorithm to rearrange the stochastically loaded dual-species atoms arrays into arbitrary demanded configurations. We propose a heuristic connectivity optimization algorithm (HCOA) to provide the near-fewest number of atom moves. Our algorithm introduces the concept of using articulation points in an undirected graph to optimize connectivity as a critical consideration for arranging the atom moving paths. Tested in array size of hundreds atoms and various configurations, our algorithm shows a high success rate (> 97%), low extra atom moves ratio, good scalability, and flexibility. Furthermore, we proposed a complementary step to solve the problem of atom loss during the rearrangement.

In doing so, the main obstacle is separating the quantum gates in the whole circuit to produce a tensor product of the local gates. It has been showed that there are few separable multipartite quantum gates, so the approximate separation problem involves finding local quantum gates that approximate a given inseparable gate. We propose and study a problem involving the approximate separation of multipartite gates based on quantum-gate fidelity. For given multipartite and local gates, we conclude that the smaller is the maximal distance between the products of an arbitrary pair of eigenvalues, the greater is their gate fidelity. This provides a criterion for approximate separation. Lastly, we discuss the optimal approximate separation of the CNOT gate.

We use error BackPropagation (BP) neural network to determine whether an arbitrary two-qubit quantum state is steerable and optimize the steerability bounds of the generalized Werner state. The results show that no matter how we choose the features for the quantum states, we can use the BP neural network to construct several models to realize high-performance quantum steering classifiers compared with the support vector machine (SVM). In addition, we predict the steerability bounds of the generalized Werner states by using the classifiers which are newly constructed by the BP neural network, that is, the predicted steerability bounds are closer to the theoretical bounds. In particular, high-performance classifiers with partial information of the quantum states which we only need to measure in three fixed measurement directions are obtained.

Here, we report the first demonstration of two-dimensional $6\times4$ dual-species atom assembly with a filling fraction of 0.88 (0.89) for $^{85}$Rb ($^{87}$Rb) atoms. This mixed-species atomic synthetic is achieved via rearranging initially randomly distributed atoms using a sorting algorithm (heuristic heteronuclear algorithm) which is proposed for bottom-up atom assembly with both user-defined geometries and two-species atom number ratios. The scope of analog simulation in atomic, molecular, and optical systems has expanded greatly over the past decades. Recently, the idea of synthetic dimensions -- in which transport occurs in a space spanned by internal or motional states coupled by field-driven transitions -- has played a key role in this expansion. While approaches based on synthetic dimensions have led to rapid advances in single-particle Hamiltonian engineering, strong interaction effects have been conspicuously absent from most synthetic dimensions platforms. Here, in a lattice of coupled atomic momentum states, we show that atomic interactions result in large and qualitative changes to dynamics in the synthetic dimension. We explore how the interplay of nonlinear interactions and coherent tunneling enriches the dynamics of a one-band tight-binding model, giving rise to macroscopic self-trap** and phase-driven Josephson dynamics with a nonsinusoidal current-phase relationship, which can be viewed as stemming from a nonlinear band structure arising from interactions.

Quantum technology has made tremendous strides over the past two decades with remarkable advances in materials engineering, circuit design and dynamic operation. In particular, the integration of different quantum modules has benefited from hybrid quantum systems, which provide an important pathway for harnessing the different natural advantages of complementary quantum systems and for engineering new functionalities. This review focuses on the current frontiers with respect to utilizing magnetic excitatons or magnons for novel quantum functionality. Magnons are the fundamental excitations of magnetically ordered solid-state materials and provide great tunability and flexibility for interacting with various quantum modules for integration in diverse quantum systems. The concomitant rich variety of physics and material selections enable exploration of novel quantum phenomena in materials science and engineering. In addition, the relative ease of generating strong coupling and forming hybrid dynamic systems with other excitations makes hybrid magnonics a unique platform for quantum engineering. We start our discussion with circuit-based hybrid magnonic systems, which are coupled with microwave photons and acoustic phonons. Subsequently, we are focusing on the recent progress of magnon-magnon coupling within confined magnetic systems. Next we highlight new opportunities for understanding the interactions between magnons and nitrogen-vacancy centers for quantum sensing and implementing quantum interconnects. Lastly, we focus on the spin excitations and magnon spectra of novel quantum materials investigated with advanced optical characterization.

Significant experimental progress has been made recently for observing long-sought supersolid-like states in Bose-Einstein condensates, where spatial translational symmetry is spontaneously broken by anisotropic interactions to form a stripe order. Meanwhile, the superfluid stripe ground state was also observed by applying a weak optical lattice that forces the symmetry breaking. Despite of the similarity of the ground states, here we show that these two symmetry breaking mechanisms can be distinguished by their collective excitation spectra. In contrast to gapless Goldstone modes of the \textit{spontaneous} stripe state, we propose that the excitation spectra of the \textit{forced} stripe phase can provide direct experimental evidence for the long-sought gapped pseudo-Goldstone modes. We characterize the pseudo-Goldstone mode of such lattice-induced stripe phase through its excitation spectrum and static structure factor. Our work may pave the way for exploring spontaneous and forced/approximate symmetry breaking mechanisms in different physical systems.

Sorting atoms stochastically loaded in optical tweezer arrays via an auxiliary mobile tweezer is an efficient approach to preparing intermediate-scale defect-free atom arrays in arbitrary geometries. However, high filling fraction of atom-by-atom assemblers is impeded by redundant sorting moves with imperfect atom transport, especially for scaling the system size to larger atom numbers. Here, we propose a new sorting algorithm (heuristic cluster algorithm, HCA) which provides near-fewest moves in our tailored atom assembler scheme and experimentally demonstrate a $5\times6$ defect-free atom array with 98.4(7)$\%$ filling fraction for one rearrangement cycle. The feature of HCA that the number of moves $N_{m}\approx N$ ($N$ is the number of defect sites to be filled) makes the filling fraction uniform as the size of atom assembler enlarged. Our method is essential to scale hundreds of assembled atoms for bottom-up quantum computation, quantum simulation and precision measurement.

Spin Hall effect (SHE), a fundamental transport phenomenon with non-zero spin current but vanishing charge current, has important applications in spintronics for the electrical control of spins. Owing to the half-spin nature of electrons, the rank of spin current (determined by the rank of spin tensors) has been restricted to 0 and 1 for charge and spin Hall effects. Motivated by recent studies of pseudospin-1 fermions in solid state and cold atomic systems, here we introduce and characterize higher-rank ($\geq 2$) SHEs in large spin ($\geq 1$) systems. We find a universal rank-2 spin Hall conductivity $e/{8}π$, with zero rank-0 and 1 conductivities, for a spin-1 model with intrinsic spin-orbit coupling. Similar rank-2 SHEs can also be found in a spin-3/2 system. An experimental scheme is proposed to realize and measure rank-2 SHEs with pseudospin-1 ultracold fermionic atoms. Our results reveal novel spin transport phenomena in large spin systems and may find important applications in designing innovative spintronic devices.

In this paper, a computable multipartite multimode Gaussian quantum correlation measure ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}$ is proposed for any $k$-partite continuous-variable (CV) systems with $k\geq 2$. ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}$ depends only on the covariance matrix of CV states, is invariant under any permutation of subsystems, is a quantification without ancilla problem, nonincreasing under $k$-partite local Gaussian channels (particularly, invariant under $k$-partite local Gaussian unitary operations), vanishes on $k$-partite product states. For a $k$-partite Gaussian state $ρ$, ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}(ρ)=0$ if and only if $ρ$ is a $k$-partite product state. Thus, for the bipartite case, ${\mathcal M}={\mathcal M}^{(2)}$ is an accessible replacement of the Gaussian quantum discord and Gaussian geometric discord. Moreover, ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}$ satisfies the unification condition, hierarchy condition that a multipartite quantum correlation measure should obey. ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}$ is not bipartite like monogamous, but, ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}$ is complete monogamous and tight complete monogamous.

The number of qubits of current quantum computers is one of the most dominating restrictions for applications. So it is naturally conceived to use two or more small capacity quantum computers to form a larger capacity quantum computing system by quantum parallel programming. To design the parallel program for quantum computers, the primary obstacle is to decompose quantum gates in the whole circuit to the tensor product of local gates. In the paper, we first devote to analyzing theoretically separability conditions of multipartite quantum gates on finite or infinite dimensional systems. Furthermore, we perform the separation experiments for $n$-qubit quantum gates on the IBM's quantum computers by the software Q$|SI\rangle$. Not surprisedly, it is showed that there exist few separable ones among multipartite quantum gates. Therefore, we pay our attention to the approximate separation problems of multipartite gates, i.e., how a multipartite gate can be closed to separable ones.

We propose a measure of nonclassical correlation $N_{\mathcal F}^{\mathcal G}$ in terms of local Gaussian unitary operations based on square of the fidelity $\mathcal F$ for bipartite continuous-variable systems. This quantity is easier to calculate or estimate and is a remedy for the local ancilla problem associated with the geometric measurement-induced nonlocality. A simple computation formula of $N_{\mathcal F}^{\mathcal G}$ for any $(1+1)$-mode Gaussian states is presented and an estimation of $N_{\mathcal F}^{\mathcal G}$ for any $(n+m)$-mode Gaussian states is given. For any $(1+1)$-mode Gaussian states, $N_{\mathcal F}^{\mathcal G}$ does not increase after performing a local Gaussian channel on the unmeasured subsystem. Comparing $N_{\mathcal F}^{\mathcal G}(ρ_{AB})$ in scale with other quantum correlations such as Gaussian geometric discord for two-mode symmetric squeezed thermal states reveals that $N_{\mathcal F}^{\mathcal G}$ is much better in detecting quantum correlations of Gaussian states.

The total correlations in a bipartite quantum system are measured by the quantum mutual information $\mathcal{I}$, which consists of quantum discord and classical correlation. However, recent results in quantum information shows that coherence, which is a part of total correlation, is more general and more fundamental than discord. The role of coherence in quantum resource theories is worthwhile to investigate. We first study the relation between quantum discord and coherence by reducing the difference between them. And then, we consider the dynamics of quantum discord, classical correlations and quantum coherence under incoherent quantum channels. We discover that coherence indicate the behavior of quantum discord (classical correlation) for times $t<\bar t$, and indicate the decoherence of classical correlation (quantum discord) for times $t>\bar t$. What is more, the coherence frozen and decay indicate the quantum discord and classical correlation frozen and decay respectively.

Two-qubit Bell-diagonal states can be depicted as a tetrahedron in three dimensions. We investigate the structure of quantum resources, including coherence and quantum discord, in the tetrahedron. The ordering of different resources measures is a common problem in resource theories, and which measure should be chosen to investigate the structure of resources is still an open question. We consider the structure of quantum resources which is not affected by the choice of measure. Our work provides a complete structure of coherence and quantum discord for Bell-diagonal states. The pictorial approach also indicates how to explore the structure of resources even when we don't have consistent measure of a concrete quantum resource.

Quantum spin Hall insulator is characterized by the helical edge states, with the spin polarization of electron being locked to its direction of motion. Although the edge-state conduction has been observed, unambiguous evidence of the helical spin texture is still lacking. Here, we investigate the coherent edge-state transport in an interference loop pinched by two point contacts. Due to the helical character, the forward inter-edge scattering enforces a $π$ spin rotation. Two successive processes can only produce a nontrivial $2π$ or trivial $0$ spin rotation, which can be controlled by the Rashba spin-orbit coupling. The nontrivial spin rotation results in a geometric $π$ Berry phase, which can be detected by a $π$ phase shift of the conductance oscillation relative to the trivial case. Our results provide a smoking gun evidence for the helical spin texture of the edge states. Moreover, it also provides the opportunity to all-electrically explore the trajectory-dependent spin Berry phase in condensed matter.

By revealing a connection between standard deviations of quantum observables and numerical radius of operators, we establish a universal uncertainty relation for any $k$ observables, of which the formulation depends on the even or odd quality of $k$. This universal uncertainty relation is tight at least for the cases $k=2n$ and $k=3$. For two observables, the uncertainty relation is exactly a simpler reformulation of Schrödinger's uncertainty principle.

A novel scheme is proposed to generate a maximally entangled state between two qubits by means of a dissipation-driven process. To this end, we entangle the quantum states of qubits that are mutually coupled by a plasmonic nanoantenna. Upon enforcing a weak spectral asymmetry in the properties of the qubits, the steady-state probability to obtain a maximally entangled, subradiant state approaches unity. This occurs despite the high losses associated to the plasmonic nanoantenna that are usually considered as being detrimental. The entanglement scheme is shown to be quite robust against variations in the transition frequencies of the quantum dots and deviations in their prescribed position with respect to the nanoantenna. Our work paves the way for novel applications in the field of quantum computation in highly integrated optical circuits.

We show that a local channel cannot create quantum discord (QD) for zero QD states of size $d\geq3$ if and only if either it is a completely decohering channel or it is a nontrivial isotropic channel. For the qubit case this propertiy is additionally characteristic to the completely decohering channel or the commutativity-preserving unital channel. In particular, the exact forms of the completely decohering channel and the commutativity-preserving unital qubit channel are proposed. Consequently, our results confirm and improve the conjecture proposed by X. Hu et al. for the case of $d\geq3$ and improve the result proposed by A. Streltsov et al. for the qubit case. Furthermore, it is shown that a local channel nullifies QD in any state if and only if it is a completely decohering channel. Based on our results, some protocols of quantum information processing issues associated with QD, especially for the qubit case, would be experimentally accessible.

There exist quantum correlations beyond entanglement, such as quantum discord (QD) and measurement-induced nonlocality (MiN) [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{106}, 120401(2011)]. In [Phys. Rev. A \textbf{77}, 022113(2008)], a subclass of PPT states so-called strong positive partial transposition (SPPT) states was introduced and it was conjectured there that SPPT states are separable. However, it was illustrated with examples in [Phys. Rev. A \textbf{81}, 064101(2010)] that this conjecture is not true. Viewing the original SPPT as SPPT up to part B, in the present paper, we define SPPT state up to part A and B respectively and present a separable class of SPPT states, that is the super SPPT (SSPPT) states, in terms of local commutativity. In addition, classical-quantum (CQ) states and nullity of MiN are characterized via local commutativity. Based on CQ states, the geometric measure of quantum discord (GMQD) for infinite-dimensional case is proposed. Consequently, we highlight the relation among MiN, QD(GMQD), SSPPT and separability through a unified approach for both finite- and infinite-dimensional systems: zero MiN implies zero QD(GMQD), zero QD(GMQD) signals SSPPT and SSPPT guarantees separability, but the converses are not valid.

The question under what conditions different witnesses may detect some entangled states simultaneously is answered for both finite- and infinite-dimensional bipartite systems. Finite many different witnesses can detect some entangled states simultaneously if and only if their convex combinations are still witnesses; they can not detect any entangled state simultaneously if and only if the set of their convex combinations contains a positive operator. For two witnesses $W_1$ and $W_2$, some more can be said: (1) $W_1$ and $W_2$ can detect the same set of entangled states if and only if they are linearly dependent; (2) $W_2$ can detect more entangled states than that $W_1$ can if and only if $W_1$ is a linear combination of $W_2$ and a positive operator. As an application, some characterizations of the optimal witnesses are given and some structure properties of the decomposable optimal witnesses are presented.

Abstract:
It is shown that, every entangled state in an infinite-dimensional composite system has a simple entanglement witness of the form $αI+T$ with $α$ a nonnegative number and $T$ a finite rank self-adjoint operator. We also provide two methods of constructing entanglement witness and apply them to obtain some entangled states that cannot be detected by the PPT criterion and the realignment criterion.

Abstract:
In this paper we study the quantum phase transition and entanglement in s1=1/2 and s2=1 spin pair system by the exact diagonalization method. We show that, for this exactly solvable quantum bi-spin system, entanglement appears before quantum phase transition and disappears after it. Moreover, we show that the von Neumann entropy, as a measure of entanglement, can reveal quantum phase transition…
