Quantum error correction with erasure qubits promises significant advantages over standard error correction due to favorable thresholds for erasure errors. To realize this advantage in practice requires a qubit for which nearly all errors are such erasure errors, and the ability to check for erasure errors without dephasing the qubit. We demonstrate that a "dual-rail qubit" consisting of a pair of resonantly coupled transmons can form a highly coherent erasure qubit, where transmon $T_1$ errors are converted into erasure errors and residual dephasing is strongly suppressed, leading to millisecond-scale coherence within the qubit subspace. We show that single-qubit gates are limited primarily by erasure errors, with erasure probability $p_\text{erasure} = 2.19(2)\times 10^{-3}$ per gate while the residual errors are $\sim 40$ times lower. We further demonstrate mid-circuit detection of erasure errors while introducing $< 0.1\%$ dephasing error per check. Finally, we show that the suppression of transmon noise allows this dual-rail qubit to preserve high coherence over a broad tunable operating range, offering an improved capacity to avoid frequency collisions. This work establishes transmon-based dual-rail qubits as an attractive building block for hardware-efficient quantum error correction.

We study the dynamics of quantum memory assist entropy uncertainty for qutrit system coupled to an environment modeled by random matrices. The results show that the effect of relative coupling strength on entropy uncertainty is opposite in Markov region and non-Markov region, and the influence of a common environment and independent environments in Markov region and non-Markov region is also opposite. One can reduce the entropy uncertainty by decreasing relative coupling strength or puting the system in two separate environments in the Markov case. In the non-Markov case, the entropy uncertainty can be reduced by increasing the relative coupling strength or by placing the system in a common environment.

We also investigated the quantum speed limit time(QSLT) of the atom and the non-Markovianity in the dynamics process. The results show that the QSLT and the non-Markovianity can be effectively manipulated by the atom-cavity coupling and the reservoir parameters. Both of the atom-cavity coupling and the detuning can induce a sudden transition from Markovian to non-Markovian dynamics and this transition is the main physical reason of the quantum speed-up process. The critical value of sudden transition from no speed-up to speed-up depends the atom-cavity coupling and the reservoir parameters. The corresponding physical explanation is also provided for our results.

The discord and the entanglement have different robustness for different initial states and their robustness may changes under certain conditions. Enhancing the atom-cavity coupling can increase the frequency of the collapse-revival of squeezing. The stronger the non-Markovian effect is, the more obvious the collapse-revival phenomenon is. The oscillatory frequency of the squeezing is dependents on the resonant frequency of the atom-cavity.

The influence of non-Markovian effect and detuning on the lower bound of the quantum entropic uncertainty relation and entanglement witness is discussed in detail. Analytical solution and entanglement swap** of a double Jaynes-Cummings model in non-Markovian environments are investigated by the timeconvolutionless master equation method. We obtain the analytical solution of this model and discuss in detail the influence of atom-cavity coupling, non-Markovian effect and initial state purity on entanglement dynamics. The results show that, in the non-Markovian environments, the entanglement between two cavities can be swapped to other bipartite subsystems by interaction between an atom and its own cavity. Due to the dissipation of environment, the entanglements of all bipartite subsystems will eventually decay to zero when the atom couples weakly to its cavity and the non-Markovian effect is also weak. All bipartite subsystems can tend to steady entanglement states if and only if there is the strong atom-cavity coupling or the strong non-Markovian effect. The steady state of the subsystem composed of an atom and its own cavity is independent on the purity but the steady states of other bipartite subsystems are dependent on the purity.

We here reform their results and investigate the entropic uncertainty relation under the influence of unital and nonunital noisy channels with memory. Different types of noisy channels with memory, such as amplitude dam** channel(nonunitary), phase-dam** and depolarizing channels(unitary) have been taken into account. Some analytical or numerical results are presented. The effect of channels with memory on dynamics of the entropic uncertainties (or their lower bounds) has been discussed in detail. Compare with previous results, our results show that, the entropic uncertainties (or their lower bounds) subjecting to amplitude dam** channel with memory will be reduced at first and then be lifted with the memory coefficient of channel $μ$ increasing, however they will be only reduced under phase-dam** and depolarizing channels with memory. Especially, in the limit of $μ\rightarrow1$, the entropic uncertainties (or their lower bounds) could be well protected and immune to decoherence of channle. Moreover, the mechanism behind these phenomena are also explored by using the purity of state.

We present the fabrication and characterization of transmon qubits formed from aluminum Josephson junctions on two different silicon-based substrates: (i) high-resistivity silicon (Si) and (ii) silicon-on-insulator (SOI). Key to the qubit fabrication process is the use of an anhydrous hydrofluoric vapor process which removes silicon surface oxides without attacking aluminum, and in the case of SOI substrates, selectively removes the lossy buried oxide underneath the qubit region. For qubits with a transition frequency of approximately $5$GHz we find qubit lifetimes and coherence times comparable to those attainable on sapphire substrates ($T_{1,\text{Si}} = 27μ$s, $T_{2,\text{Si}} = 6.6μ$s; $T_{1,\text{SOI}} = 3.5μ$s, $T_{2,\text{SOI}} = 2.2μ$s). This qubit fabrication process in principle permits co-fabrication of silicon photonic and mechanical elements, providing a route towards chip-scale integration of electro-opto-mechanical transducers for quantum networking of superconducting microwave quantum circuits.

However, until now, all most of coherence measures are basis-dependent that does not accord with physical reality, since the physical properties of the physical system should not be changed with the different choice of coordinate systems. Here, we propose an \textit{intrinsic basis-independent quantum coherence measure} which satisfies all conditions for quantifying coherence. This measurement not only reveals physical essence of quantum coherence of the quantum state itself clearly, but also simplifies the measurement procedure by avoiding the optimization procedure of distance measure.

Recently, Zhong et al. [Phys. Rev. A 87, 022337(2013)] investigated the dynamics of quantum Fisher information (QFI) in the presence of decoherence. We here reform their results and propose two schemes to enhance and preserve the QFIs for a qubit system subjected to a decoherence noisy environment by applying $\textit{non-Hermitian}$ operators process. The proposed schemes are related to the $\textit{prior}$ (or the $\textit{post}$ ) non-Hermitian operator process corresponding to before (or after) the interest system suffers from decoherence, respectively. Resorting to the Bloch sphere representation, we derive the exact analytical expressions of the QFIs with respect to the amplitude parameter $θ$ and the phase parameter $φ$, and in detail investigate the influence of $\textit{non-Hermitian}$ operator parameters on the QFIs. Compared with purity decoherence process (without non-Hermitian operator process), we find that the $\textit{post non-Hermitian}$ operator process can potentially enhance and preserve the QFIs by choosing appropriate $\textit{non-Hermitian}$ operator parameters, while with the help of the $\textit{prior non-Hermitian}$ operator process one could completely eliminate the effect of decoherence to improve the parameters estimation. Finally, a generalized non-Hermitian operator parameters effect on the parameters estimation is also considered.

Statistical mechanics is founded on the assumption that all accessible configurations of a system are equally likely. This requires dynamics that explore all states over time, known as ergodic dynamics. In isolated quantum systems, however, the occurrence of ergodic behavior has remained an outstanding question. Here, we demonstrate ergodic dynamics in a small quantum system consisting of only three superconducting qubits. The qubits undergo a sequence of rotations and interactions and we measure the evolution of the density matrix. Maps of the entanglement entropy show that the full system can act like a reservoir for individual qubits, increasing their entropy through entanglement. Surprisingly, these maps bear a strong resemblance to the phase space dynamics in the classical limit; classically chaotic motion coincides with higher entanglement entropy. We further show that in regions of high entropy the full multi-qubit system undergoes ergodic dynamics. Our work illustrates how controllable quantum systems can investigate fundamental questions in non-equilibrium thermodynamics.

Using the QD and geometric measure of quantum discord (GMQD) to quantify quantum correlations, some analytical or numerical results are presented. The results show that, the dynamics of the pairwise QD is related to the number of spin particles $N$ as well as initial parameter $θ$ of the one-axis twisting collective state. With the number of spin particles $N$ increasing, the amount of the pairwise QD increases. However, when the amount of the pairwise QD arrives at a stable maximal value, the pairwise QD is independence of the number of spin particles $N$ increasing. The behavior of the pairwise QD is symmetrical during a period $0\leq θ\leq 2π$. Moreover, we compare the pairwise QD dynamics with the GMQD for a symmetric multi-qubit system in different types of noisy channels.

The discovery of topological phases in condensed matter systems has changed the modern conception of phases of matter. The global nature of topological ordering makes these phases robust and hence promising for applications. However, the non-locality of this ordering makes direct experimental studies an outstanding challenge, even in the simplest model topological systems, and interactions among the constituent particles adds to this challenge. Here we demonstrate a novel dynamical method to explore topological phases in both interacting and non-interacting systems, by employing the exquisite control afforded by state-of-the-art superconducting quantum circuits. We utilize this method to experimentally explore the well-known Haldane model of topological phase transitions by directly measuring the topological invariants of the system. We construct the topological phase diagram of this model and visualize the microscopic evolution of states across the phase transition, tasks whose experimental realizations have remained elusive. Furthermore, we developed a new qubit architecture that allows simultaneous control over every term in a two-qubit Hamiltonian, with which we extend our studies to an interacting Hamiltonian and discover the emergence of an interaction-induced topological phase. Our implementation, involving the measurement of both global and local textures of quantum systems, is close to the original idea of quantum simulation as envisioned by R. Feynman, where a controllable quantum system is used to investigate otherwise inaccessible quantum phenomena. This approach demonstrates the potential of superconducting qubits for quantum simulation and establishes a powerful platform for the study of topological phases in quantum systems.

The main result is that parity (and hence fanout) requires log depth circuits, when the circuits are composed of single qubit and arbitrary size Toffoli gates, and when they use only constantly many ancillæ. Under this constraint, this bound is close to optimal. In the case of a non-constant number $a$ of ancillae, we give a tradeoff between $a$ and the required depth, that results in a non-trivial lower bound for fanout when $a = n^{1-o(1)}$.

The effect of the laser linewidth on the resonance fluorescence spectrum of a two-level atom is revisited. The novel spectral features, such as hole-burning and dispersive profiles at line centre of the fluorescence spectrum are predicted when the laser linewidth is much greater than its intensity. The unique features result from quantum interference between different dressed-state transition channels.
