In this study, we tackle a modern research challenge within the field of perceptual brain decoding, which revolves around synthesizing images from EEG signals using an adversarial deep learning framework. The specific objective is to recreate images belonging to various object categories by leveraging EEG recordings obtained while subjects view those images. To achieve this, we employ a Transformer-encoder based EEG encoder to produce EEG encodings, which serve as inputs to the generator component of the GAN network. Alongside the adversarial loss, we also incorporate perceptual loss to enhance the quality of the generated images.

Bone repair using BMP-2 is a promising therapeutic approach in clinical practices, however, high dosages required to be effective pose issues of cost and safety. The present study explores the potential of low dose BMP-2 treatment via tissue engineering approach, which amalgamates 3-D macro/microporous-nanofibrous bacterial cellulose (mNBC) scaffolds and low dose BMP-2 primed murine mesenchymal stem cells (C3H10T1/2 cells). Initial studies on cell-scaffold interaction using unprimed C3H10T1/2 cells confirmed that scaffolds provided a propitious environment for cell adhesion, growth, and infiltration, owing to its ECM-mimicking nano-micro-macro architecture. Osteogenic studies were conducted by preconditioning the cells with 50 ng/mL BMP-2 for 15 minutes, followed by culturing on mNBC scaffolds for up to three weeks. The results showed an early onset and significantly enhanced bone matrix secretion and maturation in the scaffolds seeded with BMP-2 primed cells compared to the unprimed ones. Moreover, mNBC scaffolds alone were able to facilitate the mineralization of cells to some extent. These findings suggest that, with the aid of 'osteoinduction' from low dose BMP-2 priming of stem cells and 'osteoconduction' from nano-macro/micro topography of mNBC scaffolds, a cost-effective bone tissue engineering strategy can be designed for quick and excellent in vivo osseointegration.

Coronavirus outbreak is one of the most challenging pandemics for the entire human population of the planet Earth. Techniques such as the isolation of infected persons and maintaining social distancing are the only preventive measures against the epidemic COVID-19. The actual estimation of the number of infected persons with limited data is an indeterminate problem faced by data scientists. There are a large number of techniques in the existing literature, including reproduction number, the case fatality rate, etc., for predicting the duration of an epidemic and infectious population. This paper presents a case study of different techniques for analysing, modeling, and representation of data associated with an epidemic such as COVID-19. We further propose an algorithm for estimating infection transmission states in a particular area. This work also presents an algorithm for estimating end-time of an epidemic from Susceptible Infectious and Recovered model. Finally, this paper presents empirical and data analysis to study the impact of transmission probability, rate of contact, infectious, and susceptible on the epidemic spread.

This paper reviews the main perspectives of language acquisition and language comprehension. In language acquisition, we have reviewed the different types of language acquisitions like first language acquisition, second language acquisition, sign language acquisition and skill acquisition. The experimental techniques for neurolinguistic acquisition detection is also discussed. The findings of experiments for acquisition detection is also discussed, it includes the region of brain activated after acquisition. Findings shows that the different types of acquisition involve different regions of the brain. In language comprehension, native language comprehension and bilingual's comprehension has been considered. Comprehension involve different brain regions for different sentence or word comprehension depending upon their semantic and syntax. The different fMRIEEG analysis techniques (statistical or graph theoretical) are also discoursed in our review. Tools for neurolinguistics computations are also discussed.

RNA interference, particularly siRNA induced gene silencing is becoming an important avenue of modern therapeutics. The siRNA is delivered to the cells as short double helical RNA which becomes single stranded for forming the RISC complex. Significant experimental evidence is available for most of the steps except the process of the separation of the two strands. We have attempted to understand the pathway for double stranded siRNA (dsRNA) to single stranded (ssRNA) molecules using steered molecular dynamics simulations. As the process is completely unexplored we have applied force from all possible directions restraining all possible residues to convert dsRNA to ssRNA. We found pulling one strand along helical axis direction restraining far end of the other strand demands excessive force for ssRNA formation. Pulling a central residue of one strand, in a direction perpendicular to the helix axis, while kee** the base paired residue fixed requires intermediate force for strand separation. Moreover we found that in this process the force requirement is quite high for the first bubble formation (nucleation energy) and the bubble propagation energies are quite small. We hypothesize this could be the mode of action adopted by the proteins in the cells.

Abstract:
Base-pockets (non-complementary base-pairs) in a double-stranded DNA play a crucial role in biological processes. Because of thermal fluctuations, it can lower the stability of DNA, whereas, in case of DNA aptamer, small molecules e.g. adenosinemonophosphate(AMP), adenosinetriphosphate(ATP) etc, form additional hydrogen bonds with base-pockets termed as "binding-pockets", which enhance the stabili…

Base-pockets (non-complementary base-pairs) in a double-stranded DNA play a crucial role in biological processes. Because of thermal fluctuations, it can lower the stability of DNA, whereas, in case of DNA aptamer, small molecules e.g. adenosinemonophosphate(AMP), adenosinetriphosphate(ATP) etc, form additional hydrogen bonds with base-pockets termed as "binding-pockets", which enhance the stability. Using the Langevin Dynamics simulations of coarse grained model of DNA followed by atomistic simulations, we investigated the influence of base-pocket and binding-pocket on the stability of DNA aptamer. Striking differences have been reported here for the separation induced by temperature and force, which require further investigation by single molecule experiments.

We study the effects of the shear force on the rupture mechanism on a double stranded DNA. Motivated by recent experiments, we perform the atomistic simulations with explicit solvent to obtain the distributions of extension in hydrogen and covalent bonds below the rupture force. We obtain a significant difference between the atomistic simulations and the existing results in the iterature based on the coarse-grained models (theory and simulations). We discuss the possible reasons and improve the coarse-grained model by incorporating the consequences of semi-microscopic details of the nucleotides in its description. The distributions obtained by the modified model (simulations and theoretical) are qualitatively similar to the one obtained using atomistic simulations.

In the last few decades, the human allosomes are engrossed in an intensive attention among researchers. The allosomes are now already been sequenced and found there are about 2000 and 78 genes in human X and Y chromosomes respectively. The hemizygosity of the human X chromosome in males exposes recessive disease alleles, and this phenomenon has prompted decades of intensive study of X-linked disorders. By contrast, the small size of the human Y chromosome, and its prominent long-arm heterochromatic region suggested absence of function beyond sex determination. But the present problem is to accomplish whether a given sequence of nucleotides i.e. a DNA is a Human X or Y chromosomal genes or not, without any biological experimental support. In our perspective, a proper quantitative understanding of these genes is required to justify or nullify whether a given sequence is a Human X or Y chromosomal gene. In this paper, some of the X and Y chromosomal genes have been quantified in genomic and proteomic level through Fractal Geometric and Mathematical Morphometric analysis. Using the proposed quantitative model, one can easily make probable justification or deterministic nullification whether a given sequence of nucleotides is a probable Human X or Y chromosomal gene or not, without seeking any biological experiment. Of course, a further biological experiment is essential to validate it as the probable Human X or Y chromosomal gene homologue. This study would enable Biologists to understand these genes in more quantitative manner instead of their qualitative features.

In an experiment involving semantic search, the visual movements of sample populations subjected to visual and aural input were tracked in a taskless paradigm. The probability distributions of saccades and fixations were obtained and analyzed. Scale-invariance was observed in the saccadic distributions, while the fixation distributions revealed the presence of a characteristic (attentional) time scale for literate subjects. A detailed analysis of our results suggests that saccadic eye motions are an example of Levy, rather than Brownian, dynamics.
