Different parametrisations of the neutron electromagnetic form factors are compared. It is given in the operator form with a central, spin-spin, tensor and spin-orbit terms. We compute the lepton-neutron lepton ($ln$) low-energy parameters for the S-waves, estimate the zero-energy cross sections for higher angular momentum states, and point out a possible divergence in the partial wave summation due to the spin-orbit potential.

We explore the effect of a finite two-body energy in the discrete scale symmetry regime of two heavy bosonic impurities immersed in a light bosonic system. By means of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation in non-integer dimensions $(D)$, we discuss the effective potential of the heavy-particles Schrodinger equation. We study how including the two-body energy in the effective potential changes the light-particles wave function and the ratio between successive Efimov states. We present the limit cycles associated with correlation between the energy of successive levels for the three and four-body systems. Our study is exemplified by considering a system composed of $N$-bosons, namely two Rubidium atoms interacting with $N-2$ Lithium ones ($^7$Li$_{N-2}-^{87}$Rb$_2$), which represent compounds of current experimental interest.

In the absence of a strong four-body force, the four-boson system has two states associated with each Efimov state, one very nearly unstable, the other several times deeper. We study correlations between the excited- and ground-state properties, such as binding energies and radii, up to next-to-leading order in an effective field theory for short-range forces. We obtain the parameters in these correlations from similar correlations arising from existing precise calculations based on short-range potentials. We also derive correlations among excited-state properties that emerge from the proximity of the state to the break-up threshold into a boson and a three-boson bound state, using an effective field theory for "halo" states.

We studied the single-particle momentum distribution of mass-imbalanced Efimov states embedded in noninteger dimensions. The contact parameters, which can be related to the thermodynamic properties of the gas, were calculated from the high momentum tail of the single particle densities. We studied the dependence of the contact parameters with the progressive change of the noninteger dimension, ranging from three (D=3) to two (D=2) dimensions. Within this interval, we move from the (D=3) regime where the Efimov discrete scale symmetry drives the physics, until close to the critical dimension, which depends on the mass imbalance, where the continuum scale symmetry takes place. We found that the two- and three-body contacts grow significantly in magnitude with the decrease of the noninteger dimension towards the critical dimension, impacting observables of resonantly interacting trapped Bose gases.

The limit-cycle associated with the correlation between the energies of two successive universal tetramer levels for fixed weakly bound trimer is found to be largely model independent. This is a universal manifestation of an independent four-boson scale associated with a cycle beyond the Efimov one.

We investigate the spectrum and structure of two-heavy bosonic impurities immersed in a light-boson system in D dimensions by means of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation. The fractional dimension dependence are associated with squeezed traps. The binding energies follows an Efimov type geometrical scaling law when the heavy-light system has a s-wave resonant interaction and the effective dimension or trap deformation is within a given range. The discrete scaling parameter $s$ relates two consecutive many-body bound states depending on mass asymmetry, number of light-bosons and effective dimension D. Furthermore, the spectrum and wave-function for finite heavy-light binding energies are computed. To exemplify our results, we consider mixtures of two-heavy caesium atoms interacting with up to two-lithium ones, which are systems of current experimental interest.

We adopt a nonrelativistic short-range separable potential, with Yamaguchi and Gaussian form factors, and drive them towards the zero-range limit by letting the form factors' momentum scales go to large values while kee** the two-body binding fixed. We show that the three-boson relativistic masses and wave functions are model-independent towards the zero-range limit, and the Thomas collapse is avoided, while the nonrelativistic limit kept the Efimov effect. Furthermore, the stability in the zero-range limit is a result of the reduction of boosted potential with the increase of the virtual pair center of mass momentum within the three-boson system. Finally, we compare the present results with Light-Front and Euclidean calculations.

We present an energy scaling function to predict, in a specific range, the energy of bosonic trimers with large scattering lengths and finite range interactions, which is validated by quantum Monte Carlo calculations using microscopic Hamiltonians with two- and three-body potentials. The proposed scaling function depends on the scattering length, effective range, and a reference energy, which we chose as the trimer energy at unitarity. We obtained the scaling function as a limit cycle from the solution of the renormalized zero-range model with effective range corrections. We proposed a simple parametrization of the energy scaling function. Besides the intrinsic interest in theoretical and experimental investigations, this scaling function allows one to probe Efimov physics with only the trimer ground states, which may open opportunities to identify Efimov trimers whenever access to excited states is limited.

This report describes the physics case, the resulting detector requirements, and the evolving detector concepts for the experimental program at the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). The EIC will be a powerful new high-luminosity facility in the United States with the capability to collide high-energy electron beams with high-energy proton and ion beams, providing access to those regions in the nucleon and nuclei where their structure is dominated by gluons. Moreover, polarized beams in the EIC will give unprecedented access to the spatial and spin structure of the proton, neutron, and light ions. The studies leading to this document were commissioned and organized by the EIC User Group with the objective of advancing the state and detail of the physics program and develo** detector concepts that meet the emerging requirements in preparation for the realization of the EIC. The effort aims to provide the basis for further development of concepts for experimental equipment best suited for the science needs, including the importance of two complementary detectors and interaction regions.
This report consists of three volumes. Volume I is an executive summary of our findings and developed concepts. In Volume II we describe studies of a wide range of physics measurements and the emerging requirements on detector acceptance and performance. Volume III discusses general-purpose detector concepts and the underlying technologies to meet the physics requirements. These considerations will form the basis for a world-class experimental program that aims to increase our understanding of the fundamental structure of all visible matter

A three-atom molecule AAB, formed by two identical bosons A and a distinct one B, is studied by considering coupled channels close to a Feshbach resonance. It is assumed that the subsystems AB and AA have, respectively, one and two channels, where, in this case, AA has open and closed channels separated by an energy gap. The induced three-body interaction appearing in the single channel description is derived using the Feshbach projection operators for the open and closed channels. An effective three-body interaction is revealed in the limit where the trap setup is tuned to vanishing scattering lengths . The corresponding homogeneous coupled Faddeev integral equations are derived in the unitarity limit. The s-wave transition matrix for the AA subsystem is obtained with a zero-range potential by a subtractive renormalization scheme with the introduction of two finite parameters, besides the energy gap. The effect of the coupling between the channels in the coupled equations is identified with the energy gap, which essentially provides an ultraviolet scale that competes with the van der Waals radius - this sets the short-range physics of the system in the open channel. The competition occurring at short distances exemplifies the violation of the ``van der Waals universality" for narrow Feshbach resonances in cold atomic setups. In this sense, the active role of the energy gap drives the short-range three-body physics.

Atom-dimer exchange and dissociation reaction rates are predicted for different combinations of two $^4$He atoms and one of the alkaline species among $^{6}$Li, $^{7}$Li and $^{23}$Na, by using three-body scattering formalism with short-range two-body interactions. Our study was concerned with low-energy reaction rates in which the $s-$, $p-$ and $d-$ wave contributions are the relevant ones. The $^4$He is chosen as one of the atoms in the binary mixture, in view of previous available investigations and laboratory accessibilities. Focusing on possible experimental cold-atom realizations with two-atomic mixtures, in which information on atom-dimer reaction rates can be extracted, we predict the occurrence of a dip in the elastic reaction rate for colliding energies smaller than 20 mK, when the dimer is the $^4$He$^{23}$Na molecule. We are also anticipating a zero in the elastic $p-$wave contribution for the $^4$He + $^4$He$^7$Li and $^4$He + $^4$He$^{23}$Na reaction processes. With weakly-bound molecules reacting with atoms at very low colliding energies, we interpret our results on the light of Efimov physics which supports model independence and robustness of our predictions. Specific sensitivities on the effective range were evidenced, highlighted by the particular inversion role of the $p-$ and $d-$waves in the atom exchange and dissociation processes.

Our scattering calculations are performed by using diatomic and triatomic molecular binding energies obtained from several available realistic models as input in a renormalized zero-range model, as well as a finite-range one-term separable potential in order to quantify the relevance of range corrections to our predictions. Of particular relevance for possible experimental realization, we show the occurrence of a zero in $σ$ for the collision of cold $^4$He on $^4$He$-^{23}$Na molecule below 20 mK. Also our results for the elastic collision $^4$He on $^4$He$-^{6,7}$Li molecules suggest that $σ$ varies considerably for the realistic models studied. As the chosen molecules are weakly bound and the scattering energies are very low, our results are interpreted on the light of the Efimov physics, which explains the model independent and robustness of our predictions, despite some sensitivity on the potential range.

We restrict $D$ to the interval $2\,<\,D\,<\,4$, and derive the heavy-heavy $D$-dimensional effective potential proportional to $1/R^2$ ($R$ is the relative distance between the heavy particles), which is responsible for the Efimov effect. We found that the Efimov states disappear once the critical strength of the heavy-heavy effective potential $1/R^2$ approaches the limit $-(D-2)^2/4$. We obtained the scaling function for the $^{133}$Cs-$^{133}$Cs-$^6$Li system as the limit cycle of the correlation between the energies of two consecutive Efimov states as a function of $D$ and the heavy-light binding energy $E^{D}_2$. In addition, we found that the energy of the $(N+1)^{\rm th}$ excited state reaches the two-body continuum independently of the dimension $D$ when $\sqrt{E^{D}_2/E_3^{(N)}}=0.89$, where $E_3^{(N)}$ is the $N^{\rm th}$ excited three-body binding energy.

The discrete Efimov scaling behavior, well-known in the low-energy spectrum of three-body bound systems for large scattering lengths (unitary limit), is identified in the energy dependence of atom-molecule elastic cross-section in mass imbalanced systems. That happens in the collision of a heavy atom with mass $m_H$ with a weakly-bound dimer formed by the heavy atom and a lighter one with mass $m_L \ll m_H$. Approaching the heavy-light unitary limit the $s-$wave elastic cross-section $σ$ will present a sequence of zeros/minima at collision energies following closely the Efimov geometrical law. Our results open a new perspective to detect the discrete scaling behavior from low-energy scattering data, which is timely in view of the ongoing experiments with ultra-cold binary mixtures having strong mass asymmetries, such as Lithium and Caesium or Lithium and Ytterbium.

We develop a model to treat the inclusive non-elastic break up reactions involving weakly bound three-cluster nuclei. Borromean, two-nucleon, halo nuclei are candidates of unstable three-fragments projectiles. The model is based on the theory of inclusive breakup reactions commonly employed in the treatment of incomplete fusion and surrogate method. The theory was developed in the 80's by Ichimura, Autern and Vincent (IAV) [Phys. Rev. C 32, 431 (1985)] \cite{IAV1985}, Udagawa and Tamura (UT)[Phys. Rev. C 24, 1348 (1981)], \cite{UT1981} and Hussein and McVoy (HM)[Nucl. Phys. A 445, 124 (1985)], \cite{HM1985}. We extend these three-body theories to derive an expression for the fragment yield in the reaction $A\,(a,b)\,X$, where the projectile is $a = x_1 + x_2 + b$. The inclusive breakup cross section is found to be the sum of a generalized four-body form of the elastic breakup cross section plus the inclusive non-elastic breakup cross section which involves the "reaction" cross section of the participant fragments, $x_1$ and $x_2$. The final result is similar to the three-body case reviewed in Austern, et al. (Phys. Rep. \textbf{154}, 125 (1987)), \cite{Austern1987}, but with important genuine four-body effects added, both in the elastic breakup cross section, which now contains the full correlations between the participant fragments, and in the inclusive non- elastic breakup. These developments should encourage experimentalists to seek more information about the $x_{1} + x_{2}$ system in the elastic breakup cross section, and to theorists to further develop and extend the surrogate method, based on the inclusive non-elastic breakup part of the $b$ spectrum.

We investigate the dynamics of a quantum system coupled linearly to Gaussian white noise using functional methods. By performing the integration over the noisy field in the evolution operator, we get an equivalent non-Hermitian Hamiltonian, which evolves the quantum state with a dissipative dynamics. We also show that if the integration over the noisy field is done for the time evolution of the density matrix, a gain contribution from the fluctuations, can be accessed in addition to the loss one from the non-hermitian Hamiltonian dynamics. We illustrate our study by computing analytically the effective non-Hermitian Hamiltonian, which we found to be the complex frequency harmonic oscillator, with a known evolution operator. It leads to space and time localisation, a common feature of noisy quantum systems in general applications.

The approach is applied to an ultracold gas of cesium atoms close to broad Feshbach resonances, where deviations of experimental values from universal model predictions are associated to effective range corrections. The effective range correction is extracted, with a weighted average given by 3.9$\pm 0.8 R_{vdW}$, where $R_{vdW}$ is the van der Waals length scale; which is consistent with the van der Waals potential tail for the $Cs_2$ system. We report recent advances on the study of universal weakly bound four-boson states from the solutions of the Faddeev-Yakubovsky equations with zero-range two-body interactions. In particular, we present the correlation between the energies of successive tetramers between two neighbor Efimov trimers and compare it to recent finite range potential model calculations. We provide further results on the large momentum structure of the tetramer wave function, where the four-body scale, introduced in the regularization procedure of the bound state equations in momentum space, is clearly manifested. The results we are presenting confirm a previous conjecture on a four-body scaling behavior, which is independent of the three-body one. We show that the correlation between the positions of two successive resonant four-boson recombination peaks are consistent with recent data, as well as with recent calculations close to the unitary limit. The momentum-space structure of the Faddeev-Yakubovsky (FY)components of weakly-bound tetramers is investigated at the unitary limit using a renormalized zero-range two-body interaction. The results, obtained by considering a given trimer level with binding energy $B_3$, provide further support to a universal scaling function relating the binding energies of two successive tetramer states. The correlated scaling between the tetramer energies comes from the sensitivity of the four-boson system to a short-range four-body scale. Each excited $N-$th tetramer energy $B_4^{(N)}$ moves as the short-range four-body scale changes, while the trimer properties are kept fixed, with the next excited tetramer $B_4^{(N+1)}$ emerging from the atom-trimer threshold for a universal ratio $B_4^{(N)}/B_3 = B_4^ {(N)}/B_4^{(N+1)} \simeq 4.6$, which does not depend on $N$. We show that both channels of the FY decomposition [atom-trimer ($K-$type) and dimer-dimer ($H-$type)] present high momentum tails, which reflect the short-range four-body scale. We also found that the $H-$channel is favored over $K-$channel at low momentum when the four-body momentum scale largely overcomes the three-body one.

The occurrence of a new limit cycle in few-body physics, expressing a universal scaling function relating the binding energies of two consecutive tetramer states, is revealed, considering a renormalized zero-range two-body interaction applied to four identical bosons. The tetramer energy spectrum is obtained when adding a boson to an Efimov bound state with energy $B_3$ in the unitary limit (for zero two-body binding, or infinite two-body scattering length). Each excited $N-$th tetramer energy $B_4^{(N)}$ is shown to slide along a scaling function as a short-range four-body scale is changed, emerging from the 3+1 threshold for a universal ratio $B_4^ {(N)}/B_3 \simeq 4.6$, which does not depend on $N$. The new scale can also be revealed by a resonance in the atom-trimer recombination process.

We investigate the occurrence of Borromean three-body continuum s-wave resonances, in an $ααβ$ system for large negative two-body scattering lengths. The energy and width are determined by a scaling function with arguments given by energy ratios of the two-body virtual state subsystem energies with the shallowest three-body bound state. The Borromean continuum resonances emerging from Efimov states present a peculiar behavior for trapped ultracold atoms near a Feshbach resonance: two resonances with equal energies at different values of the scattering length. The corresponding three-body recombination peaks should merge as the temperature is raised, with one moving towards lower values of the scattering length as the other moves to larger values.

The approach leads to a universal mass-charge critical condition for the existence of three-body level condensation, ${(m_1^{-1}+m_2^{-1})}/ {[(m_1+m_2)^{-1}+m_3^{-1}]}>|{q_1}/(24 q_3)|$, as well as the ratio between the geometrically scaled energy levels. The resulting expressions can be relevant in the analysis of recent experimental setups with charged three-body systems, such as the interactions of excitons, or other matter-antimatter dimers, with a slow charged particle.

We show that an independent four-body momentum scale $μ_{(4)}$ drives the tetramer binding energy for fixed trimer energy (or three-body scale $μ_{(3)}$) and large scattering length ($a$). The three- and four-body forces from the one-channel reduction of the atomic interaction near a Feshbach resonance disentangle $μ_{(4)}$ and $μ_{(3)}$. The four-body independent scale is also manifested through a family of Tjon-lines, with slope given by $μ_{(4)}/μ_{(3)}$ for $a^{-1}=0$. There is the possibility of a new renormalization group limit cycle due to the new scale.

The manipulation of the scattering length can turn an excited weakly bound Efimov trimer into a continuum resonance. Its energy and width are described by universal scaling functions written in terms of the scattering length and the binding energy, $B_3$, of the shallowest triatomic molecule. For $a^{-1}<-0.0297 \sqrt{m B_3/\hbar^2}$ the excited Efimov state turns into a continuum resonance.

They are obtained from a universal scaling function calculated within a renormalized scheme for three particles interacting through pairwise Dirac-delta interaction. The root-mean-square distance between two atoms of mass $m_A$ in a triatomic molecule are estimated to be of de order of ${\cal C}\sqrt{\hbar^2/[m_A(E_3-E_2)]}$, where $E_2$ is the dimer and $E_3$ the trimer binding energies, and ${\cal C}$ is a constant (varying from $\sim 0.6$ to $\sim 1$) that depends on the ratio between $E_2$ and $E_3$. Considering previous estimates for the trimer energies, we also predict the sizes of Rubidium and Sodium trimers in atomic traps.
