The upgrade of the CMS experiment for the high luminosity operation of the LHC comprises the replacement of the current endcap calorimeter by a high granularity sampling calorimeter (HGCAL). The electromagnetic section of the HGCAL is based on silicon sensors interspersed between lead and copper (or copper tungsten) absorbers. The hadronic section uses layers of stainless steel as an absorbing medium and silicon sensors as an active medium in the regions of high radiation exposure, and scintillator tiles directly readout by silicon photomultipliers in the remaining regions. As part of the development of the detector and its readout electronic components, a section of a silicon-based HGCAL prototype detector along with a section of the CALICE AHCAL prototype was exposed to muons, electrons and charged pions in beam test experiments at the H2 beamline at the CERN SPS in October 2018. The AHCAL uses the same technology as foreseen for the HGCAL but with much finer longitudinal segmentation. The performance of the calorimeters in terms of energy response and resolution, longitudinal and transverse shower profiles is studied using negatively charged pions, and is compared to GEANT4 predictions. This is the first report summarizing results of hadronic showers measured by the HGCAL prototype using beam test data.

In this paper, we present a basic model for time-interleaved photonic analog-to-digital converter (TIPADC) and analyze its linear, nonlinear, and noise performance. The basic operation mechanism of TIPADC is illustrated and the linear performance is analyzed in frequency domain. The mathematical expressions and the output of the system are presented in each processing step. We reveal that photonic sampling folds the whole spectrum of input signal in a narrow band, which enables the analog bandwidth of a TIPADC to be much higher than the bandwidth of back-end electronics. The feasible regions of the system is obtained in terms of system frequency response, and a set of sampling criteria determining the basic requirements to the system are summarized for typical applications. The results show that the global minimum feasible bandwidth of back-end electronics is the half of single channel sampling rate when the bandwidth of photonic sampling pulse is comparable to input signal frequency. The amplitude and phase noise of photonic sampling pulse train, the thermal noise and shot noise of photodetection, and the quantization noise and aperture jitter noise of EADCs are investigated. The nonlinearity of TIPADC is also analyzed. The effect of different factors, such as the single channel sampling rate, the average optical power and the bandwidth of back-end electronics, on the effective number of bits of TIPADC is qualitatively and quantitatively discussed. The results explicitly show that TIPADC can perform high fidelity conversion to ultra-high speed analog signal and overcome the major performance limitations existing in traditional ADCs such as aperture jitter and bandwidth. The criteria deduced will be an effective supplement to the generalized sampling theorem in designing TIPADC.

Also, we give the potential of CEPC running at $Z$ and $W$ poles. And we analysis the relationship of luminosity with circumference and filling factor, which gives a way to evaluate the choice of geometry. What's more, we compare the nominal performance of CEPC-SPPC and LHC and FCC.

In this study, terahertz (THz) absorption and transmission of monolayer MoS$_{2}$ was calculated under different carrier concentrations. Results showed that the THz absorption of monolayer MoS$_{2}$ is very small even under high carrier concentrations and large incident angle. Equivalent loss of the THz absorption is the total sum of reflection and absorption that is one to three grades lower than that of graphene. The monolayer MoS$_{2}$ transmission is much larger than that of the traditional GaAs and InAs two-dimensional electron gas. The field-effect tubular structure formed by the monolayer MoS$_{2}$-insulation-layer-graphene is investigated. In this structure the THz absorption of graphene to reach saturation under low voltage. Meantime, the maximum THz absorption of monolayer MoS$_{2}$ was limited to approximately 5\%. Thus, monolayer MoS$_{2}$ is a kind of ideal THz Transparent Electrodes.

Abstract:
In this Letter, we investigate the group delay of optical pulses through multilayer dielectric mirrors (MDM) combined with gravitational wave (GW). We find that the delay increases linearly with MDM length for the transmitted wave packet, whereas the Hartman effect disappears. Our study provides insight into the nature of both quantum tunnelling and GW.

We find that the QUIC-AB depends strongly not only on the amplitude of the electron current but also on the direction of the electron current. Thus, the amplitude and the angular distribution of scattering current in the scatter process can be detected directly in real time with the QUIC-AB. The phase shift of scattered waves and the details of the scattering potential can also be determined.

Coherent detection of the transmitted terahertz pulse waveform also allows the nonlinear conductivity dynamics to be followed with sub-picosecond time resolution. Both the Z-scan and time-domain results are found to be in agreement with our theoretical analysis.

this paper we consider the problem of separating noisy instantaneous linear mixtures of document images in the Bayesian framework. The source image is modeled hierarchically by a latent labeling process representing the common classifications of document objects among different color channels and the intensity process of pixels given the class labels. A Potts Markov random field is used to model regional regularity of the classification labels inside object regions. Local dependency between neighboring pixels can also be accounted by smoothness constraint on their intensities. Within the Bayesian approach, all unknowns including the source, the classification, the mixing coefficients and the distribution parameters of these variables are estimated from their posterior laws. The corresponding Bayesian computations are done by MCMC sampling algorithm. Results from experiments on synthetic and real image mixtures are presented to illustrate the performance of the proposed method.
