The widely adopted optical information detection strategies nowadays can be roughly classified into spatial-resolve-based and time-sequence-based methods. The former is highly reliant on detectors with spatial resolution that works in a limited spectrum range to capture the intensity distribution of the object, whereas the latter employs single-pixel detectors (SPDs) with improved reliability and stability in detection at the expense of time consumption due to sequential intensity recording. However, there is a scarcity of research on using high-performance SPDs for single-shot object information detection. To capture and extract features of objects efficiently and economically, in this work, we propose a single-shot optical information-detecting method, tentatively named spatially multiplexed point detection (SMPD) technology, in which some SPDs are randomly distributed at different locations to acquire the information of the object. To validate the validity of the proposed method, we demonstrate high-fidelity recognition of orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes from speckle patterns generated by the transmission of two orthogonally polarized vortex beams through a multimode fiber. It is feasible to apply this approach in wide applications, such as image transmission based on multiplexed-OAM decoding and recognizing hand-written digits. Compared with traditional image recognition methods, the new approach yields a recognition accuracy of over 98% with an effective detection area that is only 0.02% of its counterparts. With further engineering, the proposed method may spur many exciting developments in OAM-based optical communication systems, image classification, object detections, and other optical information detections.

The dynamics of one-dimensional quantum droplets and the landing applications of deep learning are recent research hotspots. In this work, we propose a novel time piecewise physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) to study complex dynamics on the one-dimensional quantum droplets by solving the corresponding amended Gross-Pitaevskii equation. The training effect of this network model in the long time domain is far better than that of the conventional PINNs, and each of its subnetworks is independent and highly adjustable. By using time piecewise PINNs with scarce training points, we not only study intrinsic modulation of single droplet and collision between two droplets, but also excite the breathers on droplet background. Intriguingly, we obtain an interference pattern from training result of collision between two droplets, which is a significant feature of the interplay of coherent matter waves. The numerical results showcase that different parameters may lead to completely different dynamic behaviors under the same initial condition in a nonlinear non-integrable system. Our results provide the significant guidance for intrinsic modulation of single droplet, droplet collision and breathers excitation via deep learning technology.

We investigate data-driven forward-inverse problems for Yajima-Oikawa (YO) system by employing two technologies which improve the performance of neural network in deep physics-informed neural network (PINN), namely neuron-wise locally adaptive activation functions and $L^2$ norm parameter regularization. Indeed, we not only recover three different forms of vector rogue waves (RWs) by means of three distinct initial-boundary value conditions in the forward problem of YO system, including bright-bright RWs, intermediate-bright RWs and dark-bright RWs, but also study the inverse problem of YO system by using training data with different noise intensity. In order to deal with the problem that the capacity of learning unknown parameters is not ideal when the PINN with only locally adaptive activation functions utilizes training data with noise interference in the inverse problem of YO system, thus we introduce $L^2$ norm regularization, which can drive the weights closer to origin, into PINN with locally adaptive activation functions, then find that the PINN model with two strategies shows amazing training effect by using training data with noise interference to investigate the inverse problem of YO system.

Reconstruction of image by using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) has been vigorously studied in the last decade. Until now, there have being developed several techniques for imaging of a single object through scattering medium by using neural networks, however how to reconstruct images of more than one object simultaneously seems hard to realize. In this paper, we demonstrate an approach by using generative adversarial network (GAN) to reconstruct images of two adjacent objects through scattering media. We construct an imaging system for imaging of two adjacent objects behind the scattering media. In general, as the light field of two adjacent object images pass through the scattering slab, a speckle pattern is obtained. The designed adversarial network, which is called as YGAN, is employed to reconstruct the images simultaneously. It is shown that based on the trained YGAN, we can reconstruct images of two adjacent objects from one speckle pattern with high fidelity. In addition, we study the influence of the object image types, and the distance between the two adjacent objects on the fidelity of the reconstructed images. Moreover even if another scattering medium is inserted between the two objects, we can also reconstruct the images of two objects from a speckle with high quality. The technique presented in this work can be used for applications in areas of medical image analysis, such as medical image classification, segmentation, and studies of multi-object scattering imaging etc.

Optical phase contains key information for biomedical and astronomical imaging. However, it is often obscured by layers of heterogeneous and scattering media, which render optical phase imaging at different depths an utmost challenge. Limited by the memory effect, current methods for phase imaging in strong scattering media are inapplicable to retrieving phases at different depths. To address this challenge, we developed a speckle three-dimensional reconstruction network (STRN) to recognize phase objects behind scattering media, which circumvents the limitations of memory effect. From the single-shot, reference-free and scanning-free speckle pattern input, STRN distinguishes depth-resolving quantitative phase information with high fidelity. Our results promise broad applications in biomedical tomography and endoscopy.
