Abstract:
We utilize the reconstruction of attosecond beating by interference of two-photon transitions (RABBIT) technique to study the phase of a Rabi-cycling atom using circularly polarized extreme ultraviolet and infrared (IR) fields, where the IR field induces Rabi oscillations between the 2s and 2p states of lithium. Autler-Townes splittings are observed in sidebands of the photoelectron spectra and the relative phases of outgoing electron wave packets are retrieved from the azimuthal angle. In this RABBIT scheme, more ionization pathways beyond the usual two-photon pathways are required. Our results show that the polar-angle-integrated and polar-angle-resolved RABBIT phases have different behaviors when the XUV and IR fields have co- and counter-rotating circular polarizations, which are traced back to the different ionization channels according to the selection rules in these two cases and their competition relying on the propensity rule in laser-assisted photoionization.

Quasi-one-dimensional (quasi-1D) materials are a newly arising topic in low-dimensional researches. As a result of reduced dimensionality and enhanced anisotropy, the quasi-1D structure gives rise to novel properties and promising applications such as photodetectors. However, it remains an open question whether performance crossover will occur when the channel material is downsized. Here we report on the fabrication and testing of photodetectors based on exfoliated quasi-1D BiSeI thin wires. Compared with the device on bulk crystal, a significantly enhanced photoresponse is observed, which is manifested by a series of performance parameters, including ultrahigh responsivity (7 x 10$^4$ A W$^{-1}$), specific detectivity (2.5 x 10$^{14}$ Jones) and external quantum efficiency (1.8 x 10$^7$%) when $V_{\textrm {ds}}$ = 3 V, $λ$ = 515 nm and $P$ = 0.01 mW cm$^{-2}$. The conventional photoconductive effect is unlikely to account for such a superior photoresponse, which is ultimately understood in terms of the increased specific surface area and the photogating effect caused by trap** states. This work provides a perspective for the modulation of optoelectronic properties and performance in quasi-1D materials.

Abstract:
An analytical discontinuity is reported in what was thought to be the discontinuity-free exact nonparaxial vortex beam phasor obtained within the complex source/sink model. This discontinuity appears for all odd values of the orbital angular momentum mode. Such discontinuities in the phasor lead to nonphysical discontinuities in the real electromagnetic field components. We identify the source of…

We identify the source of the discontinuities, and provide graphical evidence of the discontinuous real electric fields for the first and third orbital angular momentum modes. A simple means of avoiding these discontinuities is presented.

Abstract:
The critical behaviors of ferromagnet Eu0.5Sr0.5CoO3 arround TC=140.5K have been comprehensively investigated by analyzing a series of isothermal magnetization M(H) curves. Both Modified Arrott plot and Kouvel-Fisher methods give nearly the same critical exponents, which scale nicely the M(H) curves into two different branches below and above TC. The exponents γ=1.044 and δ=3.06 demonstrate the relevance of mean-field characters for this material. The conclusion of mean-field behavior proves a dominant itinerant ferromagnetism (FM) due to a long range exchange interaction in the system. Meanwhile, by using Rhodes-Wohlfarth's criterion [P. Rhodes and E. P. Wohlfarth, Proc. R. Soc. Lond. A 273, 247 (1963)], it is further confirmed that the itinerant FM dominates in the system.
