Purpose: Fly scans are indispensible in many experiments at the High Energy Photon Source (HEPS). PandABox, the main platform to implement fly scans at HEPS, needs to be integrated into Mamba, the experiment control system developed at HEPS based on Bluesky. Methods: In less than 600 lines of easily customisable and extensible backend code, provided are full control of PandABox's TCP server in native ophyd, automated configuration (also including wiring) of "PandA blocks" for constant-speed map** experiments of various dimensions, as well as generation of scans deliberately fragmented to deal with hardware limits in numbers of exposure frames or sequencer table entries. Results: The upper-level control system for PandABox has been ported to Bluesky, enabling the combination of both components' flexibility in fly-scan applications. Based on this backend, a user-friendly Mamba frontend is developed for X-ray fluorescence (XRF) map** experiments, which provides fully online visual feedback.

The irradiation behavior of graphite is essential for its applications in nuclear industry. However, the differences between graphite's behaviors are not well understood because of the very limited knowledge of microstructural differences between graphites. One typical structure, quinoline insoluble (QI) particle, was investigated using IG-110 and NBG-18 graphite. After irradiation, the QI particles on the polished surface were proved to become hillocks and can be easily identified by using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). Thus a method combining ion irradiation and SEM characterization was proposed to study the distribution and concentration of QI particles in graphite. During irradiation, the QI particles were found to evolve into densified spheres which have weak bonding with the surrounding graphite structures, indicating that the densification of QI particles does not contribute obviously to graphite dimensional shrinkage. A much higher concentration of QI particles in NBG-18 than IG-110 was characterized and is suggested to be responsible for the smaller maximum dimensional shrinkage of NBG-18 than IG-110 during irradiation.

We report a theoretical design analysis of domain-engineered periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) for wavelength conversion of near-infrared sources to generate coherent light in the visible spectral range. Our analysis on the spectral outputs show that with a proper design of the quasi phase matching (QPM) periods, tunable, multiple nonlinear optical processes can be simultaneously phase matched in a single segmented crystal. We show that a three-segment single PPLN crystal has potential to generate violet (432 nm), blue (490 nm) and orange (600 nm) wavelengths by simultaneous sum frequency and second harmonic generation processes. Such a design scheme has promising potential for a compact, robust and tunable multi-colored visible light source which can find various applications such as in biomedicine, high-density optical data storage and laser based color displays.

Abstract:
We investigate the electronic structure and magnetic properties of four quaternary Heusler alloys ZrMnVZ and ZrCoFeZ (Z=Si, Ge) by using first-principle calculations. It is shown that ZrMnVSi, ZrMnVGe and ZrCoFeSi are half-metallic ferromagnets with considerable half-metallic gaps of 0.14, 0.18 and 0.22 eV, respectively. ZrCoFeGe is a nearly half-metallic, the changes of properties for this alloy…

Employing $ab$ $intito$ electronic structure calculations, we have investigated electronic and magnetic properties of the Zr-based quanternary Heusler alloys: ZrCoVIn, ZrFeVGe, ZrCoFeP, ZrCoCrBe and ZrFeCrZ (Z=In and Ga). Our $ab$ $intito$ calculation results show that all the alloys are (or nearly) spin-gapless semiconductors. All the alloys have large band gaps, indicating the stability of them at room temperature. The Slater-Pauling behaviours of these alloys are discussed as well. The values of Curie temperature of all the alloys are estimated. And it is found that the values of the Curie temperature for all our calculated quanternary Heusler alloys are higher than that of room temperature.

We will use EPICS toolkit [1] to build a prototype for upgrading BEPC control system. The purposes are for the following three aspects: (1) Setup a network based distributed control system with EPICS. (2) Study some front-end control technology. (3) Merge the existing control systems into EPICS. The hardware architecture consists of three physical layers. The front-end layer is VME crate, PowerPC, VME I/O modules and interface boards (VME-CAMAC and Fieldbus). The back-end layer is SUN workstation, which is used as application development. The two layers are connected via the middle layer which is 100M Ethernet. In order to preserve our investment in the hardware, the existing CAMAC hardware will remain. The CAMAC will be connected to the VME via CAMAC serial highway [2]. The operator interface will be developed with EPICS DM2K. High-level accelerator control applications will be studied as well with EPICS channel access and archive access.
