The latest molecular data - potential energy curves and Rydberg-valence interactions - characterising the super-excited electronic states of BF are reviewed in order to provide the input for the study of their fragmentation dynamics. Starting from this input, the main paths and mechanisms of BF$^+$ dissociative recombination and vibrational excitation are analysed. Their cross sections are computed for the first time using a method based on the multichannel quantum defect theory (MQDT), and Maxwellian rate-coefficients are calculated and displayed in ready-to-be-used format for low temperature plasma kinetics simulations.

Photonic integrated circuits currently use platform intrinsic thermo-optic and electro-optic effects to implement dynamic functions such as switching, modulation and other processing. Currently, there is a drive to implement field programmable photonic circuits, a need which is only magnified by new neuromorphic and quantum computing applications. The most promising non-volatile photonic components employ phase change materials such as GST and GSST, which had their origin in electronic memory. However, in the optical domain, these compounds introduce significant losses potentially preventing a large number of applications. Here, we evaluate the use of two newly introduced low loss phase change materials, Sb2S3 and Sb2Se3, on a silicon nitride photonic platform. We focus the study on Mach-Zehnder interferometers that operate at the O and C bands to demonstrate the performance of the system. Our measurements show an insertion loss below 0.04 dB/um for Sb2S3 and lower than 0.09 dB/um for Sb2Se3 cladded devices for both amorphous and crystalline phases. The effective refractive index contrast for Sb2S3 on SiNx was measured to be 0.05 at 1310 nm and 0.02 at 1550 nm, whereas for Sb2Se3, it was 0.03 at 1310 nm and 0.05 at 1550 nm highlighting the performance of the integrated device.

Here we report on the characterization of one of the large-volume LaBr$_{3}$:Ce detectors for the ELIGANT project at ELI-NP. The main focus of this work is the response function for high-energy $γ$ rays of such detectors. In particular, we compare a selection of unfolding methods to resolve small structures in $γ$-ray spectra with high-energies. Three methods have been compared using $γ$-ray spectra with energies up to 12 MeV obtained in an experiment at the 3 MV Tandetron\texttrademark\ facility at IFIN-HH. The results show that the iterative unfolding approach gives the best qualitative reproduction of the emitted $γ$-ray spectrum. Furthermore, the correlation fluctuations in high-energy regime from the iterative method are two orders of magnitude smaller than when using the matrix inversion approach with second derivative regularization. In addition, the iterative method is computationally faster as it does not contain large matrix inversions. The matrix inversion method does, however, give more consistent results over the full energy range and in the low-statistics limit. Our conclusion is that the performance of the iterative approach makes it well suitable for semi-online analysis of experimental data. These results will be important, both for experiments with the ELIGANT setup, and for on-line diagnostics of the energy spread of the $γ$-ray beam which is under implementation at ELI-NP.

We provide cross sections and Maxwell rate coefficients for reactive collisions of slow electrons with BeH$^+$ ions on all the eighteen vibrational levels ($X{^{1}Σ^{+}},v_{i}^{+}=0,1,2,\dots,17$) using a Multichannel Quantum Defect Theory (MQDT) - type approach. These data on dissociative recombination, vibrational excitation and vibrational de-excitation are relevant for magnetic confinement fusion edge plasma modelling and spectroscopy, in devices with beryllium based main chamber materials, such as the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) and the Joint European Torus (JET). Our results are presented in graphical form and as fitted analytical functions, the parameters of which are organized in tables.
