Nonlinear optics plays an important role in many areas of science and technology. The advance of nonlinear optics is empowered by the discovery and utilization of materials with growing optical nonlinearity. Here we demonstrate an indium gallium phosphide (InGaP) integrated photonics platform for broadband, ultra-efficient second-order nonlinear optics. The InGaP nanophotonic waveguide enables second-harmonic generation with a normalized efficiency of $128,000\%$/W/cm$^2$ at 1.55 $μ$m pump wavelength, nearly two orders of magnitude higher than the state of the art in the telecommunication C band. Further, we realize an ultra-bright, broadband time-energy entangled photon source with a pair generation rate of 97 GHz/mW and a bandwidth of 115 nm centered at the telecommunication C band. The InGaP entangled photon source shows high coincidence-to-accidental counts ratio CAR $>10^4$ and two-photon interference visibility $>98\%$. The InGaP second-order nonlinear photonics platform will have wide-ranging implications for non-classical light generation, optical signal processing, and quantum networking.

A theoretical investigation has been made to study the modulation stability/instability of three-dimensional dust-ion-acoustic wave packets in the warm magnetized complex plasma system in the presence of nonthermal distributed electrons and positrons species. The set of equations describing our plasma system has been reduced to a (3+1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation by using the reductive perturbation method that is valid for finite but small amplitude limits. It is observed that both nonlinear and dispersive coefficients of (3+1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation are significantly modified by the external magnetic field and transverse velocity perturbation. The regions of stable and unstable for the modulated dust-ion-acoustic waves have been examined numerically. Moreover, the dependence of modulation instability and rogue waves on the relevant plasma parameters is discussed. The implications of our theoretical results in space and laboratories magnetized dusty plasma medium is briefly discussed.

Flows over two side-by-side circular cylinders exhibit fascinating flow physics due to complex interactions between the coupled wakes. However, their mutual interference effects have not been elucidated in a quantitative manner thus far. In this paper, we create a mismatch between the two wakes by introducing a size difference in the cylinder pair, such that the effects of one wake on the other can be distinguished. Depending on the size and gap ratios between the two cylinders, the coupled wake exhibits distinct dynamical features including the quasi-periodic flow, synchronized flow, and chaotic flow. Through advanced spectral analysis of lift coefficients and dynamic mode decomposition of the flow fields, we reveal that the quasi-periodic flows are mainly composed of two primary frequencies associated with vortex shedding in the near wakes of the two cylinders. Both wakes impose their own frequencies on the other, resulting in the beating phenomenon in the lift coefficients. The triad interactions between the two wakes generate the sideband frequencies, which are associated with modal structures that are mostly active in the far wake. The transition from quasi-periodicity to synchronization is dominated by the vortex shedding behind the larger cylinder, to which the wake of the smaller cylinder locks in. These results reveal new insights on the coupled wakes of two circular cylinders, and are pivotal for understanding more general wake interaction problems.

The modulational instability (MI) of ion-acoustic (IA) waves (IAWs) and associated IA rogue waves (IARWs) in double pair plasma containing non-extensive electrons, iso-thermal positrons, negatively and positively charged ions have been governed by the standard nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE). It has been figured out from the numerical study of NLSE that the plasma system holds modulationally stable (unstable) region in which the dispersive and nonlinear coefficients of the NLSE have the opposite (same) signs. It is also found that the fundamental features of IAWs (viz., MI criteria, amplitude and width of the IARWs, etc.) are rigorously organized by the plasma parameters such as mass, charge state, and number density of the plasma components. The existing outcomes of our present study should be helpful for understanding the nonlinear features of IAWs (viz., MI and IARWs) in both laboratory and space plasmas.
