Utilizing synthetic dimensions generated by spatial or temporal modulation, topological pum** enables the exploration of higher-dimensional topological phenomena through lower-dimensional physical systems. In this letter, we propose a rational design paradigm of fast topological pum** based on 1D and 2D time-modulated discrete elastic lattices for the first time. Firstly, the realization of topological pum** is ensured by introducing quantitative indicators to drive a transition of the edge or corner state in the lattice spectrum. Meanwhile, with the help of limiting speed for adiabaticity to calculate the modulation time, a mathematical formulation of designing topological pum** with the fastest modulation speed is presented. By applying the proposed design paradigm, topological edge-bulk-edge and corner-bulk-corner energy transport are successfully achieved, with 11.2 and 4.0 times of improvement in modulation speed compared to classical pum** systems in the literature. In addition, applying to 1D and 2D space-modulated systems, the optimized modulation schemes can reduce the number of stacks to 5.3% and 26.8% of the classical systems while ensuring highly concentrated energy transport. This design paradigm is expected to be extended to the rational design of fast topological pum** in other physical fields.

Classifying skyrmionic textures and extracting magnetic Hamiltonian parameters are fundamental and demanding endeavors within the field of two-dimensional (2D) spintronics. By using micromagnetic simulation and machine learning (ML) methods, we theoretically realize the recognition of nine skyrmionic textures and the mining of magnetic Hamiltonian parameters from massive spin texture images in 2D Heisenberg model. For textures classification, a deep neural network (DNN) trained according to transfer learning is proposed to distinguish nine different skyrmionic textures. For parameters extraction, based on the textures generated by different Heisenberg exchange stiffness (J), Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya strength (D), and anisotropy constant (K), we apply a multi-input single-output (MISO) deep learning model (handling with both images and parameters) and a support vector regression (SVR) model (dealing with Fourier features) to extract the parameters embedded in the spin textures. The models for classification and extraction both achieve great results with the accuracy of 98% (DNN),90% (MISO) and 80% (SVR). Importantly, via our ML methods, the skyrmionic textures with blurred phase boundaries can be effectively distinguished, and the concluded formation conditions of various skyrmionic textures, especially the skyrmion crystal, are consistent with previous reports. Besides, our models demonstrate the map** relationship between spin texture images and magnetic parameters, which proves the feasibility of extracting microscopic mechanisms from experimental images and has guiding significance for the experiments of spintronics.

An all-optical method for directly reconstructing the spectral phase of isolated attosecond pulse (IAP) has been proposed recently [New J. Phys. 25, 083003 (2023)]. This method is based on the high-harmonic generation (HHG) streaking spectra generated by an IAP and a time-delayed intense infrared (IR) laser, which can be accurately simulated by an extended quantitative rescattering model. Here we extend the retrieval algorithm in this method to successfully retrieve the spectral phase of an shaped IAP, which has a spectral minimum, a phase jump about $π$, and a "split" temporal profile. We then reconstruct the carrier-envelope phase of IR laser from HHG streaking spectra. And we finally discuss the retrieval of the phase of high harmonics by the intense IR laser alone using the Fourier transform of HHG streaking spectra.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) possessing many unique features have been utilized in several fields in recent years. However, their application in field emission (FE) vacuum electronic device is hindered by their poor electrical conductivity. Herein, a novel conductive MOF of Cu-catecholate (Cu-CAT) with the nanorod length of 200 nm and conductivity of 0.01 S/cm is grown on the graphite paper (GP). Under an applied electric field, a large number of electrons can be emitted from the nanoscale emitter tips of MOF surface to the anode. The great field emission performance of Cu-CAT@GP cold cathode film including a low turn-on field of 0.59e6 V/m and ultra-high field enhancement factor of 29622, even comparable to most carbon-based materials that have been widely investigated in FE studies, is achieved in this work. Meanwhile, Cu-CAT@GP film has a good electrical stability with a current attenuation of 9.4% in two hours. The findings reveal the cathode film fabricated by conductive MOF can be a promising candidate of cold electron source for vacuum electronic applications.

Most interestingly, bilayers present ferromagnetic half-metallicity independent of the stacking orders. Notley, the multilayers ($N\ge 6$) present ferromagnetic HM, while the magnetoelectronic properties are related with the stacking patterns in thinner multilayers. Moreover, the magnetoelectronic properties are dependent on the stacking orders of bulk. The magnetic order with multilayers is determined by the super-super exchange and weak van der Waals (vdW) interaction. Co$_2$Ge$_2$Te$_6$ with intrinsic ferromagnetism, good stability of ferromagnetism and half-metallicity could help researchers to investigate its wide application in the spintronics.

Due to the brittle feature of carbon fiber reinforced plastic laminates, mechanical multi-joint within these composite components show uneven load distribution for each bolt, which weaken the strength advantage of composite laminates. In order to reduce this defect and achieve the goal of even load distribution in mechanical joints, we propose a machine learning-based framework as an optimization method. Since that the friction effect has been proven to be a significant factor in determining bolt load distribution, our framework aims at providing optimal parameters including bolt-hole clearances and tightening torques for a minimum unevenness of bolt load. A novel circuit model is established to generate data samples for the training of artificial networks at a relatively low computational cost. A database for all the possible inputs in the design space is built through the machine learning model. The optimal dataset of clearances and torques provided by the database is validated by both the finite element method, circuit model, and an experimental measurement based on the linear superposition principle, which shows the effectiveness of this general framework for the optimization problem. Then, our machine learning model is further compared and worked in collaboration with commonly used optimization algorithms, which shows the potential of greatly increasing computational efficiency for the inverse design problem.

We theoretically investigate the influence of a longitudinal laser polarization component from beam focusing on spin dynamics in Kapitza-Dirac scattering by solving the relativistic Dirac equation with time-dependent perturbation theory. The transverse spacial dependence of the longitudinal beam polarization component is accounted for, by approximating a Gaussian beam with plane-wave components. We find that corrections from a longitudinal laser beam polarization component approximately scale with the second power of the diffraction angle $ε$, from which we conclude that a related influence from beam focusing can be made negligibly small for sufficiently low beam foci.

We carry out molecular statics (MS) simulations to study the indentation process of Pt (111) surfaces using an indenter with the radius of 5-20 nm. The substrate and indenter surfaces are either bare or graphene-covered. Our simulations show that the influence of the adhesion between the bare substrate and indenter tip can be significantly reduced by decreasing the adhesion strength and adhesion range between the atoms on the substrate and indenter, or by enhancing the substrate stiffness. Our results suggest that the elastic response of the substrate exhibits weaker adhesion after the coating of graphene layers on either side of the contacting interface, which is attributed to the weak interaction between the graphene layers. Based on these principles obtained for the bare substrate, the nanoscale contact behavior of the substrate can be tuned into a near-ideal Hertzian state by increasing the number of graphene layers, applying pre-strains to graphene on substrate, or using large indenters. Our research provides theoretical guidance for designing adhesion-less coatings for AFM probes and MEMS/NEMS systems.

By collecting and processing the time series data of Air Quality Index (AQI) of 363 cities of China from Jan. 2015 to Mar. 2019, we dedicated to characterize the universal patterns, the clustering and correlation of air quality of different cities by using the methods of complex network and time series analysis. The main results are as follows: 1) The Air Quality Network of China (AQNC) is constructed by using the Planar Maximally Filtered Graph (PMFG) method. The geographical distances on the correlation of air quality of different cities have been studied, it is found that 100 km is a critical distance for strong correlation. 2) Seven communities of AQNC have been detected, and their patterns have been analyzed by taking into account the Hurst exponent and climate environment, it is shown that the seven communities are reasonable, and they are significantly influenced by the climate factors, such as monsoon, precipitation, geographical regions, etc. 3) The motifs of air quality time series of seven communities have been investigated by the visibility graph, for some communities, the evolutionary patterns of the motifs are a bit stable, and they have the long-term memory effects. While for others, there are no stable patterns.

A type of line defect (LD) composed of alternate squares and octagons (4-8) as the basic unit is currently an experimentally available topological defect in graphene lattice, which brings some interesting modification to magnetic and electronic properties of graphene. The transitional metal (TM) adsorb on graphene with line-defect (4-8), and they show interesting and attractive structural, magnetic and electronic properties. For different TMs such as Fe, Co, Mn, Ni and V, the complex systems show different magnetic and electronic properties. The TM atoms can spontaneously adsorb at quadrangular sites, forming an atomic chain along LD on graphene. The most stable configuration is hollow site of regular tangle. The TMs (TM = Co, Fe, Mn, Ni, V) tend to form extended metal lines, showing ferromagnetic (FM) ground state. For Co, Fe, and V atom, the system are half-metal. The spin-α electron is insulating, while spin-\b{eta} electron is conductive. For Mn and Ni atom, Mn-LD and Ni-LD present spin-polarized metal; For Fe atom, the Fe-LD shows semimetal with Dirac cones. For Fe and V atom, both Fe-LD and V-LD show spin-polarized half-metallic properties. And its spin-α electron is conducting, while spin-\b{eta} electron is insulating. Different TMs adsorbing on graphene nanoribbon forming same stable configurations of metal lines, show different electronic properties. The adsorption of TMs introduces magnetism and spin-polarization. These metal lines have potential application in spintronic devices, and work as quasi-one-dimensional metallic wire, which may form building blocks for atomic-scale electrons with well-controlled contacts at atomic level.

The unusually high surface tension of room temperature liquid metal is molding it as unique material for diverse newly emerging areas. However, unlike its practices on earth, such metal fluid would display very different behaviors when working in space where gravity disappears and surface property dominates the major physics. So far, few direct evidences are available to understand such effect which would impede further exploration of liquid metal use for space. Here to preliminarily probe into this intriguing issue, a low cost experimental strategy to simulate microgravity environment on earth was proposed through adopting bridges with high enough free falling distance as the test platform. Then using digital cameras amounted along x, y, z directions on outside wall of the transparent container with liquid metal and allied solution inside, synchronous observations on the transient flow and transformational activities of liquid metal were performed. Meanwhile, an unmanned aerial vehicle was adopted to record the whole free falling dynamics of the test capsule from the far end which can help justify subsequent experimental procedures. A series of typical fundamental phenomena were thus observed as: (a) A relatively large liquid metal object would spontaneously transform from its original planar pool state into a sphere and float in the container if initiating the free falling; (b) The liquid metal changes its three-dimensional shape due to dynamic microgravity strength due to free falling and rebound of the test capsule; and (c) A quick spatial transformation of liquid metal immersed in the solution can easily be induced via external electrical fields. The mechanisms of the surface tension driven liquid metal actuation in space were interpreted. All these findings indicated that microgravity effect should be fully treated in develo** future generation liquid metal space technologies.

The intensity of the second plateau in HHG may be enhanced by two-three orders and be comparable with the intensity of the first plateau. This is due to bigger transition probabilities to higher conduction bands. It provides us a practical way to increase the yields of HHG with laser intensity below the damage threshold. It presents a promising way to triple the range of HHG spectra in experimental measurements. It also allows to generate intense isolated attosecond pulse from solids driven by few-cycle laser fields.

We investigate the high harmonic generation (HHG) from solids by simulating the dynamics of a single active electron in periodic potentials. The corresponding time-dependent Schrödinger equations (TDSE) are solved numerically by using B-spline basis sets in coordinate space. The energy band structure and wave vectors can be directly retrived from the eigenfunctions. The harmonic spectra obtained agree well with the results simulated by TDSE in $k$ space using Bloch states and show a two-plateau structure. Both of the cutoff energies of the two plateaus in the harmonic spectrum scale linearly with the field strength. We also study HHG driven by intense few-cycle laser pulses and find that the cutoff energy of the harmonic spectrum is as sensitive to the changes of the carrier envelope phase, as to HHG from gas samples, which suggests recollision pictures in HHG as found by recent experiments (Nature {\bf 522}, 462 (2015)).
