This article presents the implementation of on-chip iontronic circuits via small-scale integration of multiple ionic logic gates made of bi-polar polyelectrolyte diodes. These ionic circuits are analogous to solid-state electronic circuits, with ions as the charge carriers instead of electrons/holes. We experimentally characterize the responses of a single fluidic diode made of a junction of oppositely charged polyelectrolytes (i.e., anion and cation exchange membranes), with a similar underlying mechanism as a solid-state p- and n-type junction. This served to carry out pre-designed logical computations in various architectures by integrating multiple diode-based logic gates, where the electrical signal between the integrated gates was transmitted entirely through ions. The findings shed light on the limitations affecting the number of logic gates that can be integrated, the degradation of the electrical signal, their transient response, and the design rules that can improve the performance of iontronic circuits.

We propose and analyze a mathematical model for the evolution of opinions on directed complex networks. Our model generalizes the popular DeGroot and Friedkin-Johnsen models by allowing vertices to have attributes that may influence the opinion dynamics. We start by establishing sufficient conditions for the existence of a stationary opinion distribution on any fixed graph, and then provide an increasingly detailed characterization of its behavior by considering a sequence of directed random graphs having a local weak limit. Our most explicit results are obtained for graph sequences whose local weak limit is a marked Galton-Watson tree, in which case our model can be used to explain a variety of phenomena, e.g., conditions under which consensus can be achieved, mechanisms in which opinions can become polarized, and the effect of disruptive stubborn agents on the formation of opinions.

The study of random graphs and networks had an explosive development in the last couple of decades. Meanwhile, techniques for the statistical analysis of sequences of networks were less developed. In this paper we focus on networks sequences with a fixed number of labeled nodes and study some statistical problems in a nonparametric framework. We introduce natural notions of center and a depth function for networks that evolve in time. We develop several statistical techniques including testing, supervised and unsupervised classification, and some notions of principal component sets in the space of networks. Some examples and asymptotic results are given, as well as two real data examples.
