The data recorded by the EDs and MDs are used to reconstruct primary information of cosmic ray and gamma-ray showers. This information is used for physical analysis in gamma-ray astronomy and cosmic ray physics. To ensure the reliability of the LHAASO-KM2A data, a three-level quality control system has been established. It is used to monitor the status of detector units, stability of reconstructed parameters and the performance of the array based on observations of the Crab Nebula and Moon shadow. This paper will introduce the control system and its application on the LHAASO-KM2A data collected from August 2021 to July 2023. During this period, the pointing and angular resolution of the array were stable. From the observations of the Moon shadow and Crab Nebula, the results achieved using the two methods are consistent with each other. According to the observation of the Crab Nebula at energies from 25 TeV to 100 TeV, the time averaged pointing errors are estimated to be $-0.003^{\circ} \pm 0.005^{\circ}$ and $0.001^{\circ} \pm 0.006^{\circ}$ in the R.A. and Dec directions, respectively.

Waveguides are fundamental components in communication systems. However, they suffer from reflection and scattering losses at sharp routes or defects. The breakthrough in develo** topological photonic crystals (PhCs) provides promising solutions to robust signal transmission. In this work, we propose a new mechanism for protecting wave-guiding modes by decorating the boundaries of a conventional waveguide with valley-Hall PhCs. This special layout enables the robust propagation of conventional transverse electric waves against defects and bends. Moreover, the proposed waveguide is compatible with the substrate integrated waveguide (SIW). High efficient mode conversion from the SIW to the proposed waveguide is achievable. By leveraging the idea of topology to conventional waveguides, we provide a powerful and practical tool that can largely improve the performance of microwave and millimeter-wave integrated circuits while reserving the features of wave-guiding modes.

Topological photonic edge states are conventionally formed at the interface between two domains of topologically trivial and nontrivial photonic crystals. Recent works exploiting photonic quantum Hall and quantum valley Hall effects have shown that large-area topological waveguide states could be created in a three-layer topological heterostructure that consists of a finite-width domain featuring Dirac cone sandwiched between two domains of photonic crystals with opposite topological properties. In this work, we show that a new kind of large-area topological waveguide states could be created employing the photonic analogs of quantum spin Hall effect. Taking the well-used Wu-Hu model in topological photonics as an example, we show that sandwiching a finite-width domain of photonic crystals featuring double Dirac cone between two domains of expanded and shrunken unit cells could lead to the emergence of large-area topological helical waveguide states distributed uniformly in the middle domain. Importantly, we unveil a power-law scaling regarding to the size of the bandgap within which the large-area helical states reside as a function of the width of the middle domain, which implies that these large-area modes in principle could exist in the middle domain with arbitrary width. Moreover, pseudospin-momentum locking unidirectional propagations and robustness of these large-area waveguide modes against sharp bends are explicitly demonstrated. Our work enlarges the photonic systems and platforms that could be utilized for large-area-mode enabled topologically waveguiding.

The effects of gain and loss on the band structures of a bulk topological dielectric photonic crystal (PC) with $C_{6v}$ symmetry and the PC-air-PC interface are studied based on first-principle calculation. To illustrate the importance of parity-time (PT) symmetry, three systems are considered, namely the PT-symmetric, PT-asymmetric, and lossy systems. We find that the system with gain and loss distributed in a PT symmetric manner exhibits a phase transition from a PT exact phase to a PT broken phase as the strength of the gain and loss increases, while for the PT-asymmetric and lossy systems, no such phase transition occurs. Furthermore, based on the Wilson loop calculation, the topology of the PT-symmetric system in the PT exact phase is demonstrated to keep unchanged as the Hermitian system. At last, different kinds of edge states in Hermitian systems under the influences of gain and loss are studied and we find that while the eigenfrequencies of nontrivial edge states become complex conjugate pairs, they keep real for the trivial defect states.

Establishing and approaching the fundamental limit of orbital angular momentum (OAM) multiplexing are necessary and increasingly urgent for current multiple-input multiple-output research. In this work, we elaborate the fundamental limit in terms of independent scattering channels (or degrees of freedom of scattered fields) through angular-spectral analysis, in conjunction with a rigorous Green function method. The scattering channel limit is universal for arbitrary spatial mode multiplexing, which is launched by a planar electromagnetic device, such as antenna, metasurface, etc, with a predefined physical size. As a proof of concept, we demonstrate both theoretically and experimentally the limit by a metasurface hologram that transforms orthogonal OAM modes to plane-wave modes scattered at critically separated angular-spectral regions. Particularly, a minimax optimization algorithm is applied to suppress angular spectrum aliasing, achieving good performances in both full-wave simulation and experimental measurement at microwave frequencies. This work offers a theoretical upper bound and corresponding approach route for engineering designs of OAM multiplexing.

Because of the capability of working under moonlight without aging, silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) have been proven to be not only an alternative but also an improvement to conventional photomultiplier tubes (PMT) in this application. Eighteen SiPM-based cameras with square light funnels have been built for WFCTA. The telescopes have collected more than 100 million cosmic ray events and preliminary results indicate that these cameras are capable of working under moonlight. The characteristics of the light funnels and SiPMs pose challenges (e.g. dynamic range, dark count rate, assembly techniques). In this paper, we present the design features, manufacturing techniques and performances of these cameras. We demonstrate the coexistence of pseudospin- and valley-Hall-like edge states in a photonic crystal with $C_{3v}$ symmetry, which is composed of three interlacing triangular sublattices with the same lattice constants. By tuning the geometry of the sublattices, three complete photonic band gaps with nontrivial topology can be created, one of which is due to the band inversion associated with the pseudospin degree of freedom at the $Γ$ point and the other two due to the gap** out of Dirac cones associated with the valley degree of freedom at the $K, K'$ points. The system can support tri-band pseudospin- and valley-momentum locking edge states at properly designed domain-wall interfaces. Furthermore, to demonstrate the novel interplay of the two kinds of edge states in a single configuration, we design a four-channel system, where the unidirectional routing of electromagnetic waves against sharp bends between two routes can be selectively controlled by the pseudospin and valley degrees of freedom. Our work combines the pseudospin and valley degrees of freedom in a single configuration and may provide more flexibility in manipulating electromagnetic waves with promising potential for multiband and multifunctional applications.

Chiral surface states along the zigzag edge of a valley photonic crystal in the honeycomb lattice are demonstrated. By decomposing the local fields into orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes, we find that the chiral surface states present OAM-dependent unidirectional propagation characteristics. Particularly, the propagation directivities of the surface states are quantified by the local OAM decomposition and are found to depend on the chiralities of both the source and surface states. These findings allow for the engineering control of the unidirectional propagation of electromagnetic energy without requiring an ancillary cladding layer. Furthermore, we examine the propagation of the chiral surface states against sharp bends. It turns out that although only certain states successfully pass through the bend, the unidirectional propagation is well maintained due to the topology of the structure.

As an important figure of merit for characterizing the quantized collective behaviors of the wavefunction, Chern number is the topological invariant of quantum Hall insulators. Chern number also identifies the topological properties of the photonic topological insulators (PTIs), thus it is of crucial importance in PTI design. In this paper, we develop a first principle computatioal method for the Chern number of 2D gyrotropic photonic crystals (PCs), starting from the Maxwell's equations. Firstly, we solve the Hermitian generalized eigenvalue equation reformulated from the Maxwell's equations by using the full-wave finite-difference frequency-domain (FDFD) method. Then the Chern number is obtained by calculating the integral of Berry curvature over the first Brillouin zone. Numerical examples of both transverse-electric (TE) and transverse-magnetic (TM) modes are demonstrated, where convergent Chern numbers can be obtained using rather coarse grids, thus validating the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method.

Electromagnetic topological insulators have been explored extensively due to the robust edge states they support. In this work, we propose a topological electromagnetic system based on a line defect in topologically nontrivial photonic crystals (PCs). With a finite-difference supercell approach, modal analysis of the PCs structure is investigated in detail. The topological line-defect states are pseudospin polarized and their energy flow directions are determined by the corresponding pseudospin helicities. These states can be excited by using two spatially-symmetric line-source arrays carrying orbital angular momenta. The feature of the unidirectional propagation is demonstrated and it is stable when disorders are introduced to the PCs structure.

The metasurfaces reflect the incident left circularly polarized (LCP)/right circularly polarized (RCP) plane wave to RCP/LCP vortex beams carrying OAM at normal or oblique direction. Unlike conventional metasurfaces that are composed of discrete scatterers, the scatterers on the proposed metasurface form a quasi-continuous pattern. The patterning of the metasurface is calculated through grating vectors, and no optimization of single scatterer is required. Furthermore, the distortions from local-response discontinuity of discrete scatterers are avoided. This letter provides great convenience to high-quality OAM generation.

As an attractive degree of freedom in electromagnetic (EM) waves, the orbital angular momentum (OAM) enables infinite communication channels for both classical and quantum communications. The exploration of OAM generation inspires various designs involving spiral phase plates, antenna arrays, metasurfaces, and computer-generated holograms. In this work, we theoretically and experimentally demonstrate an approach to producing OAM carrying EM waves by a point defect in three-dimensional (3D) photonic crystals (PCs). Simultaneous excitation of two vibrational-defect states with an elaborately engineered phase retardation generates a rotational state carrying OAM. Through converting guided waves in a line defect to localized waves in a point defect and then to radiated vortex waves in free space, the lowest four OAM-mode emitters, i.e., OAM indices of 1, -1, 2, and -2, are successfully realized. This work offers a physical mechanism to generate OAM by PCs, especially when the OAM generation is to be integrated with other designs.

An orbital angular momentum (OAM) detection approach at microwave band is proposed. A transmittance function is exploited to model a transmissive metasurface. Then the metasurface is designed to convert an OAM wave to multiple waves, only one of which is gaussian. The radiation direction of the gaussian wave is distinguishable according to the order of incident OAM. Consequently, by locating the gaussian wave, the incident OAM can be conveniently determined. We use a simple field source to simulate the incident OAM wave in fullwave simulation. It largely simplifies the simulation process when an incident wave carrying OAM is needed. Both numerical and full-wave simulation results are provided to validate our design and they show a good agreement with each other. Then, the metasurface is optimized for high directivity. Our work can provide an efficient and effective way for OAM detection in radio communications.

Electromagnetic (EM) waves with helical wavefront carry orbital angular momentum (OAM), which is associated with the azimuthal phase of the complex electric field. OAM is a new degree of freedom in EM waves and is promising for channel multiplexing in communication system. Although the OAM-carrying EM wave attracts more and more attention, the method of OAM generation at microwave frequencies still faces challenges, such as efficiency and simulation time. In this work, by using the circuit theory and equivalence principle, we build two simplified models, one for a single scatter and one for the whole metasurface to predict their EM responses. Both of the models significantly simplify the design procedure and reduce the simulation time. In this paper, we propose an ultrathin complementary metasurface that converts a left-handed (right-handed) circularly polarized plane wave without OAM to a right-handed (left-handed) circularly polarized wave with OAM of arbitrary orders and a high transmission efficiency can be achieved.

Due to the mirror symmetry breaking, chiral structures show fantastic electromagnetic (EM) properties involving negative refraction, giant optical activity, and asymmetric transmission. Aligned electric and magnetic dipoles excited in chiral structures contribute to extraordinary properties. However, the chiral structures that exhibit n-fold rotational symmetry show limited tuning capability. In this paper, we proposed a compact, light, and highly tunable anisotropic chiral structure to overcome this limitation and realize a linear-to-circular polarization conversion. The anisotropy is due to simultaneous excitations of two different pairs of aligned electric and magnetic dipoles. The 3D omega-like structure, etched on two sides of one PCB board and connected by metallic vias, achieves 60% of linearto- circular conversion (transmission) efficiency at the operating frequency of 9.2 GHz. The desired 90-degree phase shift between the two orthogonal linear polarization components is not only from the finite-thickness dielectric substrate but also from the anisotropic chiral response slightly off the resonance. The work enables elegant and practical polarization control of EM waves.

Orbital angular momentum (OAM) is a promising degree of freedom for fundamental studies in electromagnetics and quantum mechanics. The unlimited state space of OAM shows a great potential to enhance channel capacities of classical and quantum communications. By exploring the Pancharatnam-Berry phase concept and engineering anisotropic scatterers in a metasurface with spatially varying orientations, a plane wave with zero OAM can be converted to a vortex beam carrying nonzero OAM. In this paper, we proposed two types of novel PEC (perfect electric conductor)-PMC (perfect magnetic conductor) anisotropic metasurfaces. One is composed of azimuthally continuous loops and the other is constructed by azimuthally discontinuous dipole scatterers. Both types of metasurfaces are mounted on a mushroom-type high impedance surface. Compared to previous metasurface designs for generating OAM, the proposed ones achieve nearly perfect conversion efficiency. In view of the eliminated vertical component of electric field, the continuous metasurface shows very smooth phase pattern at the near-field region, which cannot be achieved by convectional metasurfaces composed of discrete scatterers. On the other hand, the metasurface with discrete dipole scatterers shows a great flexibility to generate OAM with arbitrary topological charges. Our work is fundamentally and practically important to high-performance OAM generation.

Abstract:
Using 106 $\times 10^{6}$ $ψ^{\prime}$ decays collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII, three decays of $χ_{cJ}$ ($J=0,1,2$) with baryon pairs ($\llb$, $\ssb$, $\SSB$) in the final state have been studied. The branching fractions are measured to be $\cal{B}$$(χ_{c0,1,2}\rightarrowΛ\barΛ) =(33.3 \pm 2.0 \pm 2.6)\times 10^{-5}$, $(12.2 \pm 1.1 \pm 1.1)\times 10^{-5}$,…

The branching fractions are measured to be $\cal{B}$$(χ_{c0,1,2}\rightarrowΛ\barΛ) =(33.3 \pm 2.0 \pm 2.6)\times 10^{-5}$, $(12.2 \pm 1.1 \pm 1.1)\times 10^{-5}$, $(20.8 \pm 1.6 \pm 2.3)\times 10^{-5}$; $\cal{B}$$(χ_{c0,1,2}\rightarrowΣ^{0}\barΣ^{0})$ = $(47.8 \pm 3.4 \pm 3.9)\times 10^{-5}$, $(3.8 \pm 1.0 \pm 0.5)\times 10^{-5}$, $(4.0 \pm 1.1 \pm 0.5) \times 10^{-5}$; and $\cal{B}$$(χ_{c0,1,2}\rightarrowΣ^{+}\barΣ^{-})$ = $(45.4 \pm 4.2 \pm 3.0)\times 10^{-5}$, $(5.4 \pm 1.5 \pm 0.5)\times 10^{-5}$, $(4.9 \pm 1.9 \pm 0.7)\times 10^{-5}$, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. Upper limits on the branching fractions for the decays of $χ_{c1,2}\rightarrowΣ^{0}\barΣ^{0}$, $Σ^{+}\barΣ^{-}$, are estimated to be $\cal{B}$$(χ_{c1}\rightarrowΣ^{0}\barΣ^{0}) < 6.2\times 10^{-5}$, $\cal{B}$$(χ_{c2}\rightarrowΣ^{0}\barΣ^{0}) < 6.5\times 10^{-5}$, $\cal{B}$$(χ_{c1}\rightarrowΣ^{+}\barΣ^{-}) < 8.7\times 10^{-5}$ and $\cal{B}$$(χ_{c2}\rightarrowΣ^{+}\barΣ^{-}) < 8.8\times 10^{-5}$ at the 90% confidence level.
