Regge-plus-resonance predictions for charged-kaon photoproduction from the deuteron
Abstract: We present a Regge-inspired effective-Lagrangian framework for charged-kaon photoproduction from the deuteron. Quasi-free kaon production is investigated using the Regge-plus-resonance elementary operator within the non-relativistic plane-wave impulse approximation. The Regge-plus-resonance model was developed to describe photoinduced and electroinduced kaon production off protons and can be ext… ▽ More

Regge-plus-resonance predictions for kaon photoproduction from the neutron
Abstract: We present predictions for n(gamma,K+)Sigma- differential cross sections and photon-beam asymmetries and compare them to recent LEPS data. We adapt a Regge-plus-resonance (RPR) model developed to describe photoinduced and electroinduced kaon production off protons. The non-resonant contributions to the amplitude are modelled in terms of K+(494) and K*+(892) Regge-trajectory exchange. This amplit… ▽ More

Regge-model predictions for K+Sigma photoproduction from the nucleon
Abstract: We present Regge-model predictions for the p(gamma,K+)Sigma0 and n(gamma,K+)Sigma- differential cross sections and photon-beam asymmetries in the resonance region. The reaction amplitude encompasses the exchange of K+(494) and K*+(892) Regge-trajectories, introducing a mere three free parameters. These are fitted to the available p(gamma,K+)Sigma0 data beyond the resonance region. The n(gamma,K+… ▽ More

Excited baryons as experimental probes of the quark mass
Abstract: We observe that excited hadrons provide an opportunity to probe from experiment the power-law running of the quark mass in the mid infrared, while the condition m(k)<k remains valid. A relatively clean analysis is possible for the maximum spin excitations of the Delta baryons, analogous to the yrast states in nuclei. Such states are accessible at current experimental facilities such as ELSA and… ▽ More

Electroproduction of kaons from the proton in a Regge-plus-resonance approach
Abstract: We present a Regge-plus-resonance (RPR) description of the p(e,e'K^+)Y processes (Y=Λ,Σ^0) in the resonance region. The background contributions to the RPR amplitude are constrained by the high-energy p(γ, K^+)Y data. As a result, the number of free model parameters in the resonance region is considerably reduced compared to typical effective-Lagrangian approaches. We compare a selection of RPR… ▽ More

Electromagnetic KY production from the proton in a Regge-plus-resonance approach
Abstract: A Regge-plus-resonance (RPR) description of the p(γ,K)Y and p(e,e'K)Y processes (Y = Λ, Σ^{0,+}) is presented. The proposed reaction amplitude consists of Regge-trajectory exchanges in the t channel, supplemented with a limited selection of s-channel resonance diagrams. The RPR framework contains a considerably smaller number of free parameters than a typical effective-Lagrangian model. Neverthe… ▽ More

Regge-plus-resonance treatment of the p(gamma,K^+)Sigma^0 and p(gamma,K^0)Sigma^+ reactions at forward kaon angles
Abstract: An effective-Lagrangian framework for K Sigma photoproduction from the proton is presented. The proposed model is applicable at forward kaon angles and photon lab energies from threshold up to 16 GeV. The high-energy part of the p(gamma,K^+)Sigma^0 and p(gamma,K^0)Sigma^+ amplitudes is expressed in terms of Regge-trajectory exchange in the t channel. Helicity amplitudes and electromagnetic decays of strange baryon resonances
Abstract: We present results for the helicity amplitudes of the lowest-lying hyperon resonances Y*, computed within the framework of the Bonn constituent-quark model, which is based on the Bethe-Salpeter approach. The seven parameters entering the model are fitted against the best known baryon masses. Accordingly, the results for the helicity amplitudes are genuine predictions. Forward-angle K+ Lambda photoproduction in a Regge-plus-resonance approach

The high-energy part of the amplitude is modeled in terms of t-channel Regge-trajectory exchange. The sensitivity of the calculated observables to the Regge-trajectory phase is investigated in detail. The model is extended towards… ▽ More

Electromagnetic form factors of hyperons in a relativistic quark model
Abstract: The relativistically covariant constituent quark model developed by the Bonn group is used to compute the EM form factors of strange baryons. We present form-factor results for the ground-state and some excited hyperons. The computed magnetic moments agree well with the experimental values and the magnetic form factors follow a dipole $Q^2$ dependence.

Relativistic formulation of Glauber theory for A(e,e'p) reactions
Abstract: At sufficiently large proton energies, Glauber multiple-scattering theory offers good opportunities for describing the final state interactions in electro-induced proton emission off nuclear targets. A fully unfactorized relativistic formulation of Glauber multiple-scattering theory is presented. The effect of truncating the Glauber multiple-scattering series is discussed. Constraints on background contributions from K+ Lambda electroproduction
Abstract: Results for response functions for kaon electroproduction on the proton are presented. A tree-level hadrodynamical model is adopted and it is shown that some of the electroproduction response functions are particularly powerful with the eye on gaining control over the parameterization of the background diagrams. The existing data set for the p(e,e'K+)Lambda reaction appears to rule out the use o… ▽ More

Sigma photoproduction in the resonance region
Abstract: A study of p(gamma,K)Sigma processes in an isobar model at tree level is reported. By comparing model calculations to the published SAPHIR data, we explore the possible role of different isospin I=1/2 (N*) and I=3/2 (Delta*) resonances in the reaction dynamics. In our analysis, the inclusion of the ``missing'' D_{13}(1895) resonance does only slightly improve the global description of the Sigma… ▽ More

Bridging Two Ways of Describing Final-State Interactions in A(e,e'p) Reactions
Abstract: We outline a relativistic and unfactorized framework to treat the final-state interactions in quasi-elastic A(e,e'p) reactions for four-momentum transfers Q$^{2} \gtrsim 0.3$ (GeV/c)$^{2}$. The model, which relies on the eikonal approximation, can be used in combination with optical potentials, as well as with the Glauber multiple-scattering method. We argue that such a model can bridge the gap… ▽ More

Abstract: The photoproduction p(gamma, K+)Lambda process is studied within a field-theoretic approach. The role of hyperon resonances in p(gamma,K+)Lambda processes
Abstract: We discuss the role of hyperon resonances in the u-channel when modeling p (gamma,K+)Lambda processes in an effective Lagrangian approach. Without the introduction of hyperon resonances, one is forced to use soft hadronic form factors with a cutoff mass which is at best two times the kaon mass. After inclusion of the hyperon resonances in the u-channel, we obtain a fair description of the data w… ▽ More
