Abstract:
Hyper-order cumulants $C_5/C_1$ and $C_6/C_2$ of net-baryon distributions are anticipated to offer crucial insights into the phase transition from quark-gluon plasma to hadronic matter in heavy-ion collisions. Hyper-order cumulants $C_5/C_1$ and $C_6/C_2$ of net-baryon distributions are anticipated to offer crucial insights into the phase transition from quark-gluon plasma to hadronic matter in heavy-ion collisions. However, the accuracy of $C_5$ and $C_6$ is highly contingent on the fine shape of the distribution's tail, the detectable range of which could be essentially truncated by low statistics. In this paper, we use the fast Skellam-based simulations, as well as the Ultrarelativistic Quantum Molecular Dynamics model, to assess the impact of limited statistics on the measurements of $C_5/C_1$ and $C_6/C_2$ of net-proton distributions at lower RHIC energies. Both ratios decrease from the unity baseline as we reduce statistics, and could even turn negative without a pertinent physics mechanism. By incorporating statistics akin to experimental data, we can replicate the net-proton $C_5/C_1$ and $C_6/C_2$ values comparable to the corresponding measurements for Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} =$ 7.7, 11.5 and 14.5 GeV. Our findings underscore a caveat to the interpretation of the observed beam energy dependence of hyper-order cumulants.

In this work, we investigate the feasibility of nuclear structure reconstruction from heavy-ion collision observables. We perform Bayesian Inference with employing the Monte-Carlo Glauber model as an estimator of the map** from nuclear structure to the final state observables and to provide the mock data for reconstruction. By varying combination of observables included in the mock data, we find it plausible to infer Woods--Saxon parameters from the observables. We also observe that single-system multiplicity distribution for the isobar system, rather than their ratio, is crucial to simultaneously determine the nuclear structure for the isobar system.

We report a measurement of cumulants and correlation functions of event-by-event proton multiplicity distributions from fixed-target Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\rm NN}}$ = 3 GeV measured by the STAR experiment. Protons are identified within the rapidity ($y$) and transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}$) region $-0.9 < y<0$ and $0.4 < p_{\rm T} <2.0 $ GeV/$c$ in the center-of-mass frame. A systematic analysis of the proton cumulants and correlation functions up to sixth-order as well as the corresponding ratios as a function of the collision centrality, $p_{\rm T}$, and $y$ are presented. The effect of pileup and initial volume fluctuations on these observables and the respective corrections are discussed in detail. The results are compared to calculations from the hadronic transport UrQMD model as well as a hydrodynamic model. In the most central 5\% collisions, the value of proton cumulant ratio $C_4/C_2$ is negative, drastically different from the values observed in Au+Au collisions at higher energies. Compared to model calculations including Lattice QCD, a hadronic transport model, and a hydrodynamic model, the strong suppression in the ratio of $C_4/C_2$ at 3 GeV Au+Au collisions indicates an energy regime dominated by hadronic interactions.

The nuclear compound yield ratio ($\mathrm{N}_t \times \mathrm{N}_p/\mathrm{N}_d^2$), which is predicted to be sensitive to the fluctuation of local neutron density, is observed to decrease monotonically with increasing charged-particle multiplicity ($dN_{ch}/dη$) and follows a scaling behavior. The $dN_{ch}/dη$ dependence of the yield ratio is compared to calculations from coalescence and thermal models. Enhancements in the yield ratios relative to the coalescence baseline are observed in the 0\%-10\% most central collisions at 19.6 and 27 GeV, with a significance of 2.3$σ$ and 3.4$σ$, respectively, giving a combined significance of 4.1$σ$. The enhancements are not observed in peripheral collisions or model calculations without critical fluctuation, and decreases with a smaller $p_{T}$ acceptance. The physics implications of these results on the QCD phase structure and the production mechanism of light nuclei in heavy-ion collisions are discussed.

A decisive experimental test of the Chiral Magnetic Effect (CME) is considered one of the major scientific goals at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) towards understanding the nontrivial topological fluctuations of the Quantum Chromodynamics vacuum. In heavy-ion collisions, the CME is expected to result in a charge separation phenomenon across the reaction plane, whose strength could be strongly energy dependent. The previous CME searches have been focused on top RHIC energy collisions. In this Letter, we present a low energy search for the CME in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{\rm{NN}}}}=27$ GeV. We measure elliptic flow scaled charge-dependent correlators relative to the event planes that are defined at both mid-rapidity $|η|<1.0$ and at forward rapidity $2.1 < |η|<5.1$. We compare the results based on the directed flow plane ($Ψ_1$) at forward rapidity and the elliptic flow plane ($Ψ_2$) at both central and forward rapidity. The CME scenario is expected to result in a larger correlation relative to $Ψ_1$ than to $Ψ_2$, while a flow driven background scenario would lead to a consistent result for both event planes. In 10-50\% centrality, results using three different event planes are found to be consistent within experimental uncertainties, suggesting a flow driven background scenario dominating the measurement. We obtain an upper limit on the deviation from a flow driven background scenario at the 95\% confidence level. This work opens up a possible road map towards future CME search with the high statistics data from the RHIC Beam Energy Scan Phase-II.

We report on measurements of sequential $Υ$ suppression in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_\mathrm{NN}}}$ = 200 GeV with the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) through both the dielectron and dimuon decay channels. In the 0-60% centrality class, the nuclear modification factors ($R_{\mathrm{AA}}$), which quantify the level of yield suppression in heavy-ion collisions compared to $p$+$p$ collisions, for $Υ$(1S) and $Υ$(2S) are $0.40 \pm 0.03~\textrm{(stat.)} \pm 0.03~\textrm{(sys.)} \pm 0.09~\textrm{(norm.)}$ and $0.26 \pm 0.08~\textrm{(stat.)} \pm 0.02~\textrm{(sys.)} \pm 0.06~\textrm{(norm.)}$, respectively, while the upper limit of the $Υ$(3S) $R_{\mathrm{AA}}$ is 0.17 at a 95% confidence level. This provides experimental evidence that the $Υ$(3S) is significantly more suppressed than the $Υ$(1S) at RHIC. The level of suppression for $Υ$(1S) is comparable to that observed at the much higher collision energy at the Large Hadron Collider. These results point to the creation of a medium at RHIC whose temperature is sufficiently high to strongly suppress excited $Υ$ states.

Light (anti-)nuclei in relativistic heavy-ion collisions are considered to be formed by the coalescence mechanism of (anti-)nucleons in the present work. Using a dynamical phase-space coalescence model coupled with a multi-phase transport (AMPT) model, we explore the formation of light clusters such as deuteron, triton and their anti-particles in different centralities for $^{197}$Au + $^{197}$Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 39$ GeV. The calculated transverse momentum spectra of protons, deuterons, and tritons are comparable to those of experimental data from the RHIC-STAR collaboration. Both coalescence parameters $B_{2}$ for (anti-)deuteron and $B_{3}$ for triton increase with the transverse momentum as well as the collision centrality, and they are comparable with the measured values in experiments. The effect of system size on the production of light nuclei is also investigated by $^{10}$B + $^{10}$B, $^{16}$O + $^{16}$O, $^{40}$Ca + $^{40}$Ca, and $^{197}$Au + $^{197}$Au systems in central collisions. The results show that yields of light nuclei increase with system size, while the values of coalescence parameters present an opposite trend. It is interesting to see that the system size, as well as the centrality dependence of $B_A$ ($A$ = 2, 3), falls into the same group, which further demonstrates production probability of light nuclei is proportional to the size of the fireball. Furthermore, we compare our coalescence results with other models, such as the thermal model and analytic coalescence model, it seems that the description of light nuclei production is consistent with each other.

It is found that the deformations are reduced when adding 2 or 8 $\la$ hyperons, but enhanced when adding 4 or 6 $\la$ hyperons. These differences are attributed to the fact that $\la$ hyperons are filled gradually into the three deformed $p$ orbits, of which the [110]1/2$^-$ orbit is prolately deformed and the degenerate [101]1/2$^-$ and [101]3/2$^-$ orbits are oblately deformed.

We find that the $Ξ^-$ removal energy of $^{\hskip0.10em13}_{Ξp}$B [$^{12}$C(g.s.)+ $Ξ^-$(1p)] calculated by the SLX3 force is 0.7 MeV, which is in good agreement with a possible value of $0.82\pm0.17\;$MeV from the KEK E176 experiment. The theoretical prediction for this weakly bound state depends strongly on the deformation of the nuclear core, which is analyzed in detail.

It was observed that the electric and magnetic fields display different behavioral patterns for asymmetric combinations of the projectile and target nuclei as well as for different initial configurations of the carbon nucleus. The major features of the process are discussed.

We study systems of finite-number neutrons in a harmonic trap at the unitary limit. Two very different types of neutron-neutron interactions are applied, namely, the meson-theoretic CD-Bonn potential and hard-core square-well interactions, all tuned to possess infinite scattering lengths, and with effective ranges comparable to or larger than the trap size. The potentials are renormalized to equivalent, scattering-length preserving low-momentum potentials, $V_{{\rm low}-k}$, with which the particle-particle hole-hole ring diagrams are summed to all orders to yield the ground-state energy $E_0$ of the finite neutron system. We find the ratio $E_0/E_0^{\rm free}$ (where $E_0^{\rm free}$ denotes the ground-state energy of the corresponding non-interacting system) to be remarkably independent from variations of the harmonic trap parameter, the number of neutrons, the decimation momentum of $V_{{\rm low}-k}$, and the type and effective range of the unitarity potential. Our results support a special virial linear scaling relation of $E_0$. Certain properties of Landau's quasi-particles for trapped neutrons at the unitary limit are also discussed.

It turned out that because of the statistical fluctuation dominance it is very hard to see signature of the CP singularity in the real higher moment excitation functions. It is found that the property of higher moment excitation functions are significantly dependent on the window size, and hence the CP signatures may show only in a definite window for a given conserved observable non-statistical higher moments. But for a given widow size, the CP singularity may show only in the non-statistical higher moment excitation functions of a definite conserved observable.

The dynamical development of expanding Quark-gluon Plasma (QGP) flow is studied in a 3+1D fluid dynamical model with a globally symmetric, initial condition. We minimize fluctuations arising from complex dynamical processes at finite impact parameters and from fluctuating random initial conditions to have a conservative fluid dynamical background estimate for the statistical distributions of the thermodynamical parameters. We also avoid a phase transition in the equation of state, and we let the matter supercool during the expansion.
Then central Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 2.76$ TeV are studied in an almost perfect fluid dynamical model, with azimuthally symmetric initial state generated in a dynamical flux-tube model. The general development of thermodynamical extensives are also shown for lower energies.
We observe considerable deviations from a thermal equilibrium source as a consequence of the fluid dynamical expansion arising from a least fluctuating initial state.

Abstract:
Combining the hydrodynamic model (Hydro code) and the transport model (PACIAE model), we present the Hydro-PACIAE hybrid model. We use the Hydro-PACIAE hybrid model to calculate Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=130 GeV and Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=2.76 TeV. The obtained pseudo-rapidity and transverse momentum distributions well reproduce the experimental data. This shows that the Hydro-PACIAE hybrid model is useful to describe the ultrarelativistic Heavy Ion Collisions at RHIC and LHC Energies. We used the hybrid model to calculate the elliptical flow for the Pb+Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=2.76 TeV. The $v_2$ values are bigger than the experimental data at high $p_T$, and will become bigger when the Hydro evolution time is longer. The results indicate that the selection of the transition hypersurface has significant effect on the observable quantities.

Collective flow in collisions between Lead nuclei at LHC are influenced by random initial state fluctuations, especially for odd harmonics. Here we extend fluctuation studies to longitudinal fluctuations, which may have significant effect on the rapidity distribution of odd harmonics. Furthermore center of mass rapidity fluctuations are measurable, but not yet analysed. Here in the PACIAE parton and hadron molecular dynamics model we make an analysis of initial state fluctuations. As previous analyses discussed mainly the effects of fluctuations on eccentricity and the elliptic flow we pay particular attention to the fluctuations of the Center of Mass rapidity of the system, which is conservatively estimated in our model as Δy_{CM} = 0.1, by neglecting all pre-equilibrium emission effects that are increasing the y_{CM} fluctuations.

Heavy ion reactions and other collective dynamical processes are frequently described by different theoretical approaches for the different stages of the process, like initial equilibration stage, intermediate locally equilibrated fluid dynamical stage and final freeze-out stage. For the last stage the best known is the Cooper-Frye description used to generate the phase space distribution of emitted, non-interacting, particles from a fluid dynamical expansion/explosion, assuming a final ideal gas distribution, or (less frequently) an out of equilibrium distribution. In this work we do not want to replace the Cooper-Frye description, rather clarify the ways how to use it and how to choose the parameters of the distribution, eventually how to choose the form of the phase space distribution used in the Cooper-Frye formula. Moreover, the Cooper-Frye formula is used in connection with the freeze-out problem, while the discussion of transition between different stages of the collision is applicable to other transitions also. More recently hadronization and molecular dynamics models are matched to the end of a fluid dynamical stage to describe hadronization and freeze-out. The stages of the model description can be matched to each other on spacetime hypersurfaces (just like through the frequently used freeze-out hypersurface). This work presents a generalized description of how to match the stages of the description of a reaction to each other, extending the methodology used at freeze-out, in simple covariant form which is easily applicable in its simplest version for most applications.

Abstract:
Ultra-Relativistic Heavy Ion Collisions at an energy $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 65 {\rm GeV}$ are studied in a three-dimensional Fluid Dynamical model. The results of a hydrodynamical evolution using the PIC-method are shown. The importance and diagnostic value of a proper reaction plane determination is emphasized, and the time development of collective measurables is presented.
