We study here the inverse problem of starting from the femtoscopic correlation functions of related channels and analyze them with an efficient tool to extract the maximum information possible on the interaction of the components of these channels, and the existence of possible bound states tied to this interaction. The method is flexible enough to accommodate non-molecular components and the effect of missing channels relevant for the interaction. We apply the method to realistic correlation functions for the $D^{*+}D^0$ and $D^{*0}D^+$ channels derived consistently from the properties of the $T_{cc}(3875)^+$ and find that we can extract the existence of a bound state, its nature as a molecular state of the $D^{*+}D^0$ and $D^{*0}D^+$ channels, the probabilities of each channel, as well as scattering lengths and effective ranges for the channels, together with the size of the source function, all of them with a relatively good precision.

We have done a theoretical study of the $γd \to π^0 ηd$ reaction starting with a realistic model for the $γN \to π^0 ηN$ reaction that reproduces cross sections and polarization observables at low energies and involves the $γN \to Δ(1700)\to ηΔ(1232) \to ηπ^0 N$ process. For the coherent reaction in the deuteron we considered the impulse approximation together with the rescattering of the pions and the $η$ on a different nucleon than the one where they are produced. We found this second mechanism very important since it helps share between two nucleons the otherwise large momentum transfer of the reaction. Other contributions to the $γd\toπ^0ηd$ reaction, involving the $γN\to π^\pmπ^0 N^\prime$ process, followed by the rescattering of the $π^\pm$ with another nucleon to give $η$ and a nucleon, have also been included. We find a natural explanation, tied to the dynamics of our model, for the shift of the $η-d$ mass distribution to lower invariant masses, and of the $π^0-d$ mass distribution to larger invariant masses, compared to a phase space calculation. We also study theoretical uncertainties related to the large momenta of the deuteron wave function involved in the process as well as to the couplings present in the model. Striking differences are found with the experimental angular distribution and further theoretical investigations might be necessary.

We propose to create a secondary beam of neutral kaons in Hall D at Jefferson Lab to be used with the GlueX experimental setup for strange hadron spectroscopy. The superior CEBAF electron beam will enable a flux on the order of $1\times 10^4~K_L/sec$, which exceeds the flux of that previously attained at SLAC by three orders of magnitude. The use of a deuteron target will provide first measurements ever with neutral kaons on neutrons. The experiment will measure both differential cross sections and self-analyzed polarizations of the produced $Λ$, $Σ$, $Ξ$, and $Ω$ hyperons using the GlueX detector at the Jefferson Lab Hall D. The measurements will span CM $\cosθ$ from $-0.95$ to 0.95 in the range W = 1490 MeV to 2500 MeV. The new data will significantly constrain the partial wave analyses and reduce model-dependent uncertainties in the extraction of the properties and pole positions of the strange hyperon resonances, and establish the orbitally excited multiplets in the spectra of the $Ξ$ and $Ω$ hyperons. Comparison with the corresponding multiplets in the spectra of the charm and bottom hyperons will provide insight into he accuracy of QCD-based calculations over a large range of masses. The proposed facility will have a defining impact in the strange meson sector through measurements of the final state $Kπ$ system up to 2 GeV invariant mass. This will allow the determination of pole positions and widths of all relevant $K^\ast(Kπ)$ $S$-,$P$-,$D$-,$F$-, and $G$-wave resonances, settle the question of the existence or nonexistence of scalar meson $κ/K_0^\ast(700)$ and improve the constrains on their pole parameters. Subsequently improving our knowledge of the low-lying scalar nonet in general.

The measured absolute branching fractions are, however, puzzlingly larger than those of other measured pure $W$-annihilation decays by at least one order of magnitude. In addition, the relative phase between the two decay modes is found to be about 180 degrees. In this letter, we show that all these can be easily understood if the $a_0(980)$ is a dynamically generated state from $\bar{K} K$ and $πη$ interactions in coupled channels. In such a scenario, the $D^+_s$ decay proceeds via internal $W$ emission instead of $W$-annihilation, which has a larger decay rate than $W$-annihilation. The proposed decay mechanism and the molecular nature of the $a_0(980)$ also provide a natural explanation to the measured negative interference between the two decay modes.

Furthermore, we can reproduce almost quantitatively the experimental data of the $Λp$ invariant mass spectrum in the momentum transfer window $350 \text{ MeV} /c < q_{Λp} < 650 \text{ MeV} /c$. These facts strongly suggest that the $\bar{K} N N$ bound state was indeed generated in the J-PARC E15 experiment.

In this work, based on the dominant Cabibbo favored weak decay mechanism, we perform a study of $Λ_c^+ \to π^+ π^0 Σ^*$ with the possible $Σ^*$ state decaying into $π^- Σ^+$ through a triangle diagram. This process is initiated by $ Λ_c^+ \to π^+ \bar{K}^*N $, then the $\bar{K}^*$ decays into $\bar{K} π$ and $\bar{K} N$ produce the $Σ^*$ through a triangle loop containing $\bar{K}^* N \bar{K}$ which develops a triangle singularity. We show that the $π^- Σ^+$ state is generated from final state interaction of $\bar{K}N$ in $S$-wave and isospin $I=1$, and the $Λ_c^+ \to π^+ π^0 π^- Σ^+$ decay can be used to study the possible $Σ^*$ state around the $\bar{K}N$ threshold. The proposed decay mechanism can provide valuable information on the nature of the $Σ^*$ resonance and can in principle be tested by facilities such as LHCb, BelleII and BESIII.

We analyze the data on the total cross sections for the $dd \to η^4{\rm He}$ reaction close to threshold and look for possible $η^4 {\rm He}$ bound states. We develop a framework in which the $η^4{\rm He}$ optical potential is the key ingredient, rather than parameterizing the scattering matrix, as is usually done. The strength of this potential, together with some production parameters, are fitted to the available experimental data. The relationship of the scattering matrix to the optical potential is established using the Bethe-Salpeter equation and the $η^4{\rm He}$ loop function incorporates the range of the interaction given by the experimental $^4 {\rm He}$ density. However, when we look for poles of the scattering matrix, we get poles in the bound region, poles in the positive energy region or no poles at all. If we further restrict the results with constraints from a theoretical model with all its uncertainties the bound states are not allowed. However, we find a bump structure in $|T|^2$ of the $η^4{\rm He} \to η^4{\rm He}$ amplitude below threshold for the remaining solutions.

Then, this almost on-shell $\bar{K}$ can bring a signal of the $\bar{K} N N$ bound state in the $Λp$ invariant-mass spectrum, although it inevitably brings a kinematic peak above the $\bar{K} N N$ threshold as well. As a consequence, we predict two peaks across the $\bar{K} N N$ threshold in the spectrum: the lower peak coming from the $\bar{K} N N$ bound state, and the higher one originating from the kinematics.

This guarantees that the $πΣ$ state is generated in isospin $I=0$ and we see that the invariant mass produces a clean signal for the $Λ(1405)$ of higher mass at $1420$ MeV. We also study the $η_c p$ final state interaction, which is driven by the excitation of a hidden charm resonance predicted before. We relate the strength of the different invariant mass distributions and find similar strengths that should be clearly visible in an ongoing LHCb experiment. In particular we predict that a clean peak should be seen for a hidden charm resonance that couples to the $η_c p$ channel in the invariant $η_c p$ mass distribution.

A theoretical investigation is done to clarify the origin of the peak structure observed near the $K^{-} p p$ threshold in the in-flight ${}^{3}\text{He} ( K^{-}, \, Λp ) n$ reaction of the J-PARC E15 experiment, which could be a signal of the lightest kaonic nuclei, that is, the $\bar{K} N N (I=1/2)$ state. For the investigation, we evaluate the $Λp$ invariant mass spectrum assuming two possible scenarios to interpret the experimental peak. One assumes that the $Λ(1405)$ resonance is generated after the emission of an energetic neutron from the absorption of the initial $K^-$, not forming a bound state with the remaining proton. This uncorrelated $Λ(1405) p$ system subsequently decays into the final $Λp$. The other scenario implies that, after the emission of the energetic neutron, a $\bar{K} N N$ bound state is formed, decaying eventually into a $Λp$ pair. Our results show that the experimental signal observed in the in-flight ${}^{3}\text{He} ( K^{-} , \, Λp ) n$ reaction at J-PARC is qualitatively well reproduced by the assumption that a $\bar{K} N N$ bound state is generated in the reaction, definitely discarding the interpretation in terms of an uncorrelated $Λ(1405) p$ state.

All these have been tested extensively. As a result, we provide a genuine prediction of the differential cross section where a strangeness hidden-charm pentaquark state, the counterpart of the $P_c(4450)$, can be clearly seen. The decay rate is estimated to be of similar magnitude as the $Λ_b^0\rightarrow J/ψK^- p$ observed by the LHCb collaboration.

These reactions proceed in the following way: the incoming photon first mutates into a $ρ^0$, $ω$, or $φ$ meson via vector meson dominance, which then interacts with the $ρ^0$, $ω$ or $K^*$ emitted by the incoming proton to form the tensor mesons $f'_2(1525)$ and $K^*_2(1430)$. The picture is simple and has no free parameters, as all the parameters of the mechanism have been fixed in previous studies. We predict the differential and total cross sections of these reactions. The results can be tested in future experiments and therefore offer new clues on the nature of these tensor states.

With the help of a chiral unitarity approach in coupled channels, we compute the branching fractions for scalar meson processes of the semileptonic $D$ decays in a simple way. Using current known values of the branching fractions, we make predictions for the branching fractions of the semileptonic decay modes with other scalar and vector mesons. Furthermore, we calculate the $π^{+} π^{-}$, $πη$, $πK$, and $K^{+} K^{-}$ invariant mass distributions in the semileptonic decays of $D$ mesons, which will help us clarify the nature of the light scalar mesons.

The partial decay width and mass distributions of $f_1(1285) \to πK \bar K$ are evaluated. We get a value for the partial decay width which, within errors, is in fair agreement with the experimental result. The contribution from the tree level diagrams is dominant, but the final state interactions have effects in the mass distributions. The predicted mass distributions are significantly different from phase space and tied to the $K^* \bar{K} - cc$ nature of the $f_1(1285)$ state.

We have performed a calculation of the $γp \to π^+ π^- p$ reaction, where the two pions have been separated in $D$-wave producing the $f_2(1270)$ resonance. We use elements of the local hidden gauge approach that provides the interaction of vector mesons in which the $f_2(1270)$ resonance appears as a $ρ$-$ρ$ molecular state in $L=0$ and spin 2. The vector meson dominance, incorporated in the local hidden gauge approach converts a photon into a $ρ^0$ meson and the other meson connects the photon with the proton. The picture is simple and has no free parameters, since the parameters of the theory have been constrained in the previous study of the vector-vector states. In a second step we introduce new elements, not present in the local hidden gauge approach, adapting the $ρ$ propagator to Regge phenomenology and introducing the $ρNN$ tensor coupling. We find that both the differential cross section as well as the $t$ dependence of the cross section are in good agreement with the experimental results and provide support for the molecular picture of the $f_2(1270)$ in the first baryonic reaction where it has been tested.

The properties of strange ($K$, $\bar K$ and $\bar K^*$) and open-charm ($D$, $\bar D$ and $D^*$) mesons in dense matter are studied using a unitary approach in coupled channels for meson-baryon scattering. In the strangeness sector, the interaction with nucleons always comes through vector-meson exchange, which is evaluated by chiral and hidden gauge Lagrangians. For the interaction of charmed mesons with nucleons we extend the SU(3) Weinberg-Tomozawa Lagrangian to incorporate spin-flavor symmetry and implement a suitable flavor symmetry breaking. The in-medium solution for the scattering amplitude accounts for Pauli blocking effects and meson self-energies. On one hand, we obtain the $K$, $\bar K$ and $\bar K^*$ spectral functions in the nuclear medium and study their behaviour at finite density, temperature and momentum. We also make an estimate of the transparency ratio of the $γA \to K^+ K^{*-} A^\prime$ reaction, which we propose as a tool to detect in-medium modifications of the $\bar K^*$ meson. On the other hand, in the charm sector, several resonances with negative parity are generated dynamically by the s-wave interaction between pseudoscalar and vector meson multiplets with $1/2^+$ and $3/2^+$ baryons. The properties of these states in matter are analyzed and their influence on the open-charm meson spectral functions is studied. We finally discuss the possible formation of $D$-mesic nuclei at FAIR energies.

The inelastic η' N cross section is estimated to be 3 - 10 mb. Parameterizing the photoproduction cross section of η'-mesons by σ(A) = σ_0 A^α, a value of α= 0.84\pm0.03 has been deduced.

In this work the interaction of the coupled channels $DN$ and $πΣ_c$ in an SU(4) extrapolation of the chiral unitary theory, where the $Λ_c(2595)$ resonance appears as dynamically generated from that interaction, is extended to produce results in finite volume. Energy levels in the finite box are evaluated and, assuming that they would correspond to lattice results, the inverse problem of determining the phase shifts in the infinite volume from the lattice results is solved. We observe that it is possible to obtain accurate $πΣ_c$ phase shifts and the position of the $Λ_c(2595)$ resonance, but it requires the explicit consideration of the two coupled channels. We also observe that some of the energy levels in the box are attached to the closed $DN$ channel, such that their use to induce the $πΣ_c$ phase shifts via Lüscher's formula leads to incorrect results.

We report on a theoretical study of the pp->p Lambda K+ and pp->p Sigma0 K+ reactions near threshold using a chiral dynamical approach. The production process is described by single-pion and single-kaon exchange. The final state interactions of nucleon-hyperon, K-hyperon and K-nucleon systems are also taken into account. We show that our model leads to a fair description of the experimental data on the total cross section of the pp->p Lambda K+ and pp->p Sigma0 K+ reactions. We find that the experimental observed strong suppression of Sigma0 production compared to Lambda production at the same excess energy can be explained. However, ignorance of phases between some amplitudes does not allow to properly account for the nucleon-hyperon final state interaction for the pp->p Sigma0 K+ reaction. We also demonstrate that the invariant mass distribution and the Dalitz plot provide direct information about the Lambda and Sigma0 production mechanism, and can be tested by experiments at COSY or HIRFL-CSR.

Our results give theoretical support to data analyses extracting two distinctive resonances, $Δ_{5/2^{+}}(\sim1740)$ and $Δ_{5/2^{+}}(\sim2200),$ from which the mass of $Δ_{5/2^{+}}(2000)(\ast\ast)$ is estimated. We propose that these two resonances should be cataloged instead of $Δ_{5/2^{+}}(2000).$ This proposal gets further support from the possible assignment of the other baryon states found in the approach in the $I=1/2,3/2$ with $J^{P}=1/2^{+},3/2^{+},5/2^+$ sectors to known baryonic resonances. In particular, $Δ_{1/2^{+}}(1750)(\ast)$ is naturally interpreted as a $πN_{1/2^{-}}(1650)$ bound state.

The kaon-nucleon interaction incorporates $s$- and $p$-wave contributions within a chiral model whereas the interaction of $\bar K^*$ with nucleons is obtained in the framework of the local hidden gauge formalism. The in-medium solution for the scattering amplitude accounts for Pauli blocking effects, mean-field binding on baryons, and meson self-energies. We obtain the $K$, $\bar K$ and $\bar K^*$ (off-shell) spectral functions in the nuclear medium and study their behaviour at finite density, temperature and momentum. We also analyze the energy weighted sum rules of the kaon propagator as a quality test of model calculations. We finally estimate the transparency ratio of the $γA \to K^+ K^{*-} A^\prime$ reaction, which we propose as a feasible scenario at present facilities to detect in-medium modifications of the $\bar K^*$ meson.

We also obtain the $\bar K^*$ (off-shell) spectral function and analyze its behaviour at finite density and momentum. At normal nuclear matter density, the $\bar K^*$ meson feels a moderately attractive potential while the $\bar K^*$ width becomes five times larger than in free space. We estimate the transparency ratio of the $γA \to K^+ K^{* -} A^\prime$ reaction, which we propose as a feasible scenario at present facilities to detect the changes of the properties of the $\bar K^*$ meson in the nuclear medium.

In this paper we evaluate sources of background for the $γp \to ωp$, with the $ω$ detected through its $π^0 γ$ decay channel, to compare with the experiment carried out at ELSA. We find background from $γp \to π^0 π^0 p$ followed by decay of a $π^0$ into two $γ$, recombining one $π^0$ and one $γ$, and from the $γp \to π^0 ηp$ reaction with subsequent decay of the $η$ into two photons. This background accounts for the data at $π^0 γ$ invariant masses beyond 700 MeV, but strength is missing at lower invariant masses which was attributed to photon misidentification events, which we simulate to get a good reproduction of the experimental background. Once this is done, we perform an event mixing simulation to reproduce the calculated background and we find that the method provides a good description of the background at low $π^0 γ$ invariant masses but fakes the background at high invariant masses, making background events at low invariant masses, which are due to $γ$ misidentification events, responsible for the background at high invariant masses which is due to the $γp \to π^0 π^0 p$ and $γp \to π^0 ηp$ reactions.

We find that a combination of facts leads indeed to a peak around 1530 MeV for the invariant mass of $K^+ n$ without the need to invoke any new resonance around this energy. This, together with statistical fluctuations that we prove to be large with the statistics of the experiment, is likely to produce the narrower peak observed there.

The SU(3) breaking produces the splitting of the two octets, resulting in the case of strangeness S=-1 in two poles of the scattering matrix close to the nominal Λ(1405) resonance. These poles are combinations of the singlet state and the octets. We show how actual experiments see just one effective resonance shape, but with properties which change from one reaction to another.

We perform a study of the final state interactions of the K^+ \bar{K^0} and the \bar{K^0}d systems in the reactions pp \to d K^+ \bar{K^0} and pp \to d π^+ η. Since the two-meson system couples strongly to the a_0(980) resonance, these reactions are expected to be an additional source of information about the controversial scalar sector. We also show that these reactions present peculiar features which can shed additional light on the much debated meson-baryon scalar sector with strangeness -1. We deduce the general structure of the amplitudes close to the d K^+\bar{K}^0 threshold, allowing for primary K^+ \bar{K^0} as well as π^+ηproduction with the two mesons in relative S- or P-wave. The interactions of the mesons are accounted for by using chiral unitary techniques, which generate dynamically the a_0(980) resonance, and the \bar{K^0}d interaction is also taken into account. General formulae are derived that allow to incorporate the final state interactions in these systems for any model of the production mechanism. We illustrate this approach by considering two specific production mechanisms based on three flavor meson-baryon chiral perturbation theory. It is demonstrated that in this scenario the \bar{K^0}d interactions are very important and can change the cross section by as much as one order of magnitude. The amount of π^+ηversus K^+ \bar{K^0} production is shown to depend critically on the primary mixture of the two mechanisms, with large interference effects due to final state interactions. These effects are also shown to occur in the event distributions of invariant masses which are drastically modified by the final state interactions of the two-meson or the \bar{K}d system.

In this paper we compare a model that contains the mechanisms of $Δ$ excitation in the projectile and Roper excitation in the target with experimental data from two (d, d') experiments on a proton target. The agreement of the theory with the experiment is fair for the data taken at T_d = 2.3 GeV. The $Δ$ excitation in the projectile is predicted close to the observed energy with the correct width. The theory, however, underpredicts by about 40% the cross sections measured at T_d = 1.6 GeV at angles where the cross section has fallen by about two orders of magnitude. The analysis done here allows to extract an approximate strength for the excitation of the Roper [N^*(1440)] excitation and a qualitative agreement with the theoretical predictions is also found.

Recent experiments at Saturne at $4$ $GeV$ showed that the $(α,α')$ reaction on the proton shows two distinctive peaks, which were associated to $Δ$ projectile excitation and Roper target excitation. A subsequent theoretical analysis has shown that this picture is qualitatively correct but there are important interference effects between the two mechanisms. Futhermore, at this energy the ratio of strengths for the Roper and $Δ$ peak is about $1/4$. In the present paper we show that by going to the $10 - 15$ $GeV$ region the interference effects become negligible, the signal for the Roper excitation is increased by more than an order of magnitude and the ratio of cross sections at the peaks for Roper and $Δ$ excitation becomes of the order of unity, thus making this range of energies ideal for studies of isoscalar Roper excitation.

We study the Roper excitation in the $(α,α')$ reaction. We consider all processes which may be relevant in the Roper excitation region, namely, Roper excitation in the target, Roper excitation in the projectile, and double $Δ$ excitation processes. The theoretical investigation shows that the Roper excitation in the proton target mediated by an isoscalar exchange is the dominant mechanism in the process. We determine an effective isoscalar interaction by means of which the experimental cross section is well reproduced. This should be useful to make predictions in related reactions and is a first step to construct eventually a microscopic $NN \rightarrow NN^*$ transition potential, for which the present reaction does not offer enough information.
