Clear signals are observed for the two reactions. The cross sections in $-0.9\leq\rm{cos}θ_{Λ/\barΛ}\leq0.9$ are measured to be $σ(Λp\rightarrowΛp)=(12.2\pm1.6_{\rm{stat}}\pm1.1_{\rm{sys}})$ mb and $σ(\barΛ p\rightarrow\barΛ p)=(17.5\pm2.1_{\rm{stat}}\pm1.6_{\rm{sys}})$ mb at the $Λ/\barΛ$ momentum of $1.074$ GeV/$c$ within a range of $\pm0.017$ GeV/$c$, where the $θ_{Λ/\barΛ}$ are the scattering angles of the $Λ/\barΛ$ in the $Λp/\barΛp$ rest frames. Furthermore, the differential cross sections of the two reactions are also measured, where there is a slight tendency of forward scattering for $Λp\rightarrowΛp$, and a strong forward peak for $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$. We present an approach to extract the total elastic cross sections by extrapolation. The study of $\barΛp\rightarrow\barΛp$ represents the first study of antihyperon-nucleon scattering, and these new measurements will serve as important inputs for the theoretical understanding of the (anti)hyperon-nucleon interaction.

The $Σ^{+}$ hyperons are produced by the collisions of $Λ$ hyperons from $J/ψ$ decays with nuclei in the material of the BESIII detector. The total cross section of $Λ+ ^{9}{\rm Be} \rightarrow Σ^+ + X$ is measured to be $σ= (37.3 \pm 4.7 \pm 3.5)~{\rm mb}$ at $Λ$ beam momenta within $[1.057, 1.091]~{\rm GeV}/c$, where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. This analysis is the first study of $Λ$-nucleon interactions at an $e^+ e^-$ collider, providing information and constraints relevant for the strong-interaction potential, the origin of color confinement, the unified model for baryon-baryon interactions, and the internal structure of neutron stars.

No significant $H$-dibaryon signal is observed in the $Ξ^-p$ final state. This is the first study of hyperon-nucleon interactions in electron-positron collisions and opens up a new direction for such research.

A transfer reaction and cluster-decay experiment, $^{12}$C($^{16}$O,$^{24}$Mg$\rightarrow$$α$+$^{20}$Ne)$α$, was performed at a beam energy of 96 MeV. Both recoil and decay $α$ particles were detected in coincidence, allowing us to deduce the energy-momentum of a $^{20}$Ne fragment. A number of resonant states of $^{24}$Mg were reconstructed up to an excitation energy of approximately 30 MeV. Owing to the experimentally achieved excellent resolutions of the $Q$-value and excitation-energy spectra, the relative decay widths for each resonant state in $^{24}$Mg to various final states of $^{20}$Ne were extracted, alone with the total decay width. The obtained results provide good testing ground for theoretical descriptions of the multiple clustering configurations in $^{24}$Mg.

Ground-state properties of even-even nuclei with $8\le Z\le120$ from the proton drip line to the neutron drip line have been investigated using the deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum (DRHBc) with the density functional PC-PK1. With the effects of deformation and continuum included simultaneously, 2583 even-even nuclei are predicted to be bound. The calculated binding energies, two-nucleon separation energies, root-mean-square (rms) radii of neutron, proton, matter, and charge distributions, quadrupole deformations, and neutron and proton Fermi surfaces are tabulated and compared with available experimental data. The rms deviation from the 637 mass data is 1.518 MeV, providing one of the best microscopic descriptions for nuclear masses. The drip lines obtained from DRHBc calculations are compared with other calculations, including the spherical relativistic continuum Hartree-Bogoliubov (RCHB) and triaxial relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov (TRHB) calculations with PC-PK1. The deformation and continuum effects on the limits of the nuclear landscape are discussed. Possible peninsulas consisting of bound nuclei beyond the two-neutron drip line are predicted. The systematics of the two-nucleon separation energies, two-nucleon gaps, rms radii, quadrupole deformations, potential energy curves, neutron densities, neutron mean-field potentials, and pairing energies in the DRHBc calculations are also discussed. In addition, the $α$ decay energies extracted are in good agreement with available data.

We report a study of the processes of $e^+e^-\to K^+ (D_s^- D^{*0} + D^{*-}_s D^0)$ based on $e^+e^-$ annihilation samples collected with the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII at five center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.628 to 4.698 GeV with a total integrated luminosity of 3.7 fb$^{-1}$. An excess over the known contributions of the conventional charmed mesons is observed near the $D_s^- D^{*0}$ and $D^{*-}_s D^0$ mass thresholds in the $K^{+}$ recoil-mass spectrum for events collected at $\sqrt{s}=4.681$ GeV. The structure matches a mass-dependent-width Breit-Wigner line shape, whose pole mass and width are determined as $(3982.5^{+1.8}_{-2.6}\pm2.1)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $(12.8^{+5.3}_{-4.4}\pm3.0)$ MeV, respectively. The first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic. The significance of the resonance hypothesis is estimated to be 5.3 $σ$ over the contributions only from the conventional charmed mesons. This is the first candidate of the charged hidden-charm tetraquark with strangeness, decaying into $D_s^- D^{*0}$ and $D^{*-}_s D^0$. However, the properties of the excess need further exploration with more statistics.

We study the medium response to jet evolution in the quark-gluon plasma within the JETSCAPE framework. Recoil partons' medium response in the weakly coupled description is implemented in the multi-stage jet energy-loss model in the framework. As a further extension, the hydrodynamic description is rearranged to include in-medium jet transport based on a strong-coupling picture. To interface hydrodynamics with jet energy-loss models, the hydrodynamic source term is modeled by a causal formulation employing the relativistic diffusion equation. The jet shape and fragmentation function are studied via realistic simulations with weakly coupled recoils. We also demonstrate modifications in the medium caused by the hydrodynamic response.

We present a jet quenching model within a unified multi-stage framework and demonstrate for the first time a simultaneous description of leading hadrons, inclusive jets, and elliptic flow observables which spans multiple centralities and collision energies. This highlights one of the major successes of the JETSCAPE framework in providing a tool for setting up an effective parton evolution that includes a high-virtuality radiation dominated energy loss phase (MATTER), followed by a low-virtuality scattering dominated (LBT) energy loss phase. Measurements of jet and charged-hadron $R_{AA}$ set strong constraints on the jet quenching model. Jet-medium response is also included through a weakly-coupled transport description.

The aim of this work is to develop the deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum (DRHBc) theory based on the point-coupling density functionals and extend it to provide a unified description for all even-even nuclei in the nuclear chart by overcoming all possible challenges. The nuclear superfluidity is considered via Bogoliubov transformation. Densities and potentials are expanded in terms of Legendre polynomials to include the axial deformation degrees of freedom. Sophisticated relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov equations in coordinate space are solved in the DiracWoods-Saxon basis to consider the continuum effects. Numerical checks are performed from light nuclei to heavy nuclei. The techniques to construct the DRHBc mass table for even-even nuclei are explored. The DRHBc theory is extended to study heavier nuclei beyond magnesium isotopes. Taking Nd isotopes as examples, the experimental binding energies, two-neutron separation energies, quadrupole deformations, and charge radii are reproduced rather well. The deformation and continuum play essential roles in the description of nuclear masses and prediction of drip-line nuclei. By examining the single-particle levels in the canonical basis and their contributions to the total density, the thickness of the neutron skin, the particles number in continuum, and the Coulomb barrier, the exotic structures including the neutron skin and the proton radioactivity are predicted.

The JETSCAPE framework is a modular and versatile Monte Carlo software package for the simulation of high energy nuclear collisions. In this work we present a new tune of JETSCAPE, called PP19, and validate it by comparison to jet-based measurements in $p+p$ collisions, including inclusive single jet cross sections, jet shape observables, fragmentation functions, charged hadron cross sections, and dijet mass cross sections. These observables in $p+p$ collisions provide the baseline for their counterparts in nuclear collisions. Quantifying the level of agreement of JETSCAPE results with $p+p$ data is thus necessary for meaningful applications of JETSCAPE to A+A collisions. The calculations use the JETSCAPE PP19 tune, defined in this paper, based on version 1.0 of the JETSCAPE framework. For the observables discussed in this work calculations using JETSCAPE PP19 agree with data over a wide range of collision energies at a level comparable to standard Monte Carlo codes. These results demonstrate the physics capabilities of the JETSCAPE framework and provide benchmarks for JETSCAPE users.

The JETSCAPE simulation framework is an overarching computational envelope for develo** complete event generators for heavy-ion collisions. It allows for modular incorporation of a wide variety of existing and future software that simulates different aspects of a heavy-ion collision. The default JETSCAPE package contains both the framework, and an entire set of indigenous and third party routines that can be used to directly compare with experimental data. In this article, we outline the algorithmic design of the JETSCAPE framework, define the interfaces and describe the default modules required to carry out full simulations of heavy-ion collisions within this package. We begin with a description of the various physics elements required to simulate an entire event in a heavy-ion collision, and distribute these within a flowchart representing the event generator and statistical routines for comparison with data. This is followed by a description of the abstract class structure, with associated members and functions required for this flowchart to work. We then define the interface that will be required for external users of JETSCAPE to incorporate their code within this framework and to modify existing elements within the default distribution. We conclude with a discussion of some of the physics output for both $p$-$p$ and $A$-$A$ collisions from the default distribution, and an outlook towards future releases. In the appendix, we discuss various architectures on which this code can be run and outline our benchmarks on similar hardware.

In this work, we illustrate the performance of the event generator for different algorithmic approaches to jet energy loss, and reproduce the measurements of several jet and hadron observables as well as correlations between the hard and soft sector. We also carry out direct comparisons between different approaches to energy loss to study their sensitivity to those observables.

The modification of jet substructure in relativistic heavy-ion collisions is studied using JETSCAPE, a publicly available software package containing a framework for Monte Carlo event generators. Multi-stage jet evolution in JETSCAPE provides an integrated description of jet quenching by combining multiple models, with each becoming active at a different stage of the parton shower evolution. Jet substructure modification due to different aspects of jet quenching is studied using jet shape and jet fragmentation observables. Various combinations of jet energy loss models are exploed, with medium background provided by (2 + 1)-D VISHNU with TRENTo+freestreaming initial conditions. We obtain 4.0$σ$ evidence of the $Ξ(1690)^0$ with the same data sample. These results shed light on the structure of hyperon resonances with strangeness $S=-2$.

Abstract:
Using a sample of $1.31\times 10^9$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of spin polarization of $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ hyperons from the coherent production in the $J/ψ\toΛ\barΛ$ decay. We measure the phase between the hadronic form factors to be $ΔΦ=(42.4\pm0.6\pm0.5)^\circ$. The decay parameters for $Λ\to pπ^-$ ($α_-$), $\barΛ\to\bar pπ^+$ ($α_+$) and…

We measure the phase between the hadronic form factors to be $ΔΦ=(42.4\pm0.6\pm0.5)^\circ$. The decay parameters for $Λ\to pπ^-$ ($α_-$), $\barΛ\to\bar pπ^+$ ($α_+$) and $\barΛ\to\bar nπ^0$ ($\barα_0$) are measured to be $α_-=0.750\pm0.009\pm0.004$, $α_+=-0.758\pm0.010\pm0.007$ and $\barα_0=-0.692\pm0.016\pm0.006$, respectively. The obtained value of $α_-$ is higher by $(17\pm 3)\%$ than the current world average. In addition, the $CP$ asymmetry of $-0.006\pm0.012\pm0.007$ is extracted with substantially improved precision. The ratio $\barα_0/α_{+} = 0.913\pm 0.028 \pm 0.012$ is also measured.

The impact of jet quenching on $Z^0$-tagged jets in relativistic heavy-ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is investigated. We employ Sharpa Monte Carlo program that combines next-to-leading order matrix elements with matched resummation of parton shower to compute the initial $Z^0$+jet production. The Linear Boltzmann Transport (LBT) model is then used to simulate the propagation, energy attenuation of and medium response induced by jet partons in the quark-gluon plasma. With both higher-order corrections and matched soft/collinear radiation as well as a sophisticated treatment of parton energy loss and medium response in LBT, our numerical calculations can provide the best description so far of all available observables of $Z^0$+jet simultaneously in both p+p and Pb+Pb collisions, in particular, the shift of the distribution in transverse momentum asymmetry $x_{\rm jZ}=p_T^{\rm jet}/p_T^Z$, the modification of azimuthal angle correlation in $Δφ_{\rm{j}Z}=|φ_{\rm jet}-φ_Z|$ and the overall suppression of average number of $Z^0$-tagged jets per boson $R_{\rm jZ}$ at $\sqrt s =5.02$ TeV as measured by the CMS experiment. We also show that higher-order corrections to $Z^0$+jet production play an indispensable role in understanding $Z^0$+jet azimuthal angle correlation at small and intermediate $Δφ_{\rm jZ}$, and momentum imbalance at small $x_{\rm jZ}$. Jet quenching of the sub-leading jets is shown to lead to suppression of $Z^0$+jet correlation at small azimuthal angle difference $Δφ_{\rm jZ}$ and at small $x_{\rm jZ}$.

The modification of hard jets in an extended static medium held at a fixed temperature is studied using three different Monte-Carlo event generators (LBT, MATTER, MARTINI). Each event generator contains a different set of assumptions regarding the energy and virtuality of the partons within a jet versus the energy scale of the medium, and hence, applies to a different epoch in the space-time history of the jet evolution. For the first time, modeling is developed where a jet may sequentially transition from one generator to the next, on a parton-by-parton level, providing a detailed simulation of the space-time evolution of medium modified jets over a much broader dynamic range than has been attempted previously in a single calculation. Comparisons are carried out for different observables sensitive to jet quenching, including the parton fragmentation function and the azimuthal distribution of jet energy around the jet axis. The effect of varying the boundary between different generators is studied and a theoretically motivated criterion for the location of this boundary is proposed. The importance of such an approach with coupled generators to the modeling of jet quenching is discussed.

The Linear Boltzmann Transport (LBT) model coupled to hydrodynamical background is extended to include transport of both light partons and heavy quarks through the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. The LBT model includes both elastic and inelastic medium-interaction of both primary jet shower partons and thermal recoil partons within perturbative QCD (pQCD). It is shown to simultaneously describe the experimental data on heavy and light flavor hadron suppression in high-energy heavy-ion collisions for different centralities at RHIC and LHC energies. More detailed investigations within the LBT model illustrate the importance of both initial parton spectra and the shapes of fragmentation functions on the difference between the nuclear modifications of light and heavy flavor hadrons. The dependence of the jet quenching parameter $\hat{q}$ on medium temperature and jet flavor is quantitatively extracted.

A Linearized Boltzmann Transport (LBT) model coupled with hydrodynamical background is established to describe the evolution of jet shower partons and medium excitations in high energy heavy-ion collisions. We extend the LBT model to include both elastic and inelastic processes for light and heavy partons in the quark-gluon plasma. A hybrid model of fragmentation and coalescence is developed for the hadronization of heavy quarks. Within this framework, we investigate how heavy flavor observables depend on various ingredients, such as different energy loss and hadronization mechanisms, the momentum and temperature dependences of the transport coefficients, and the radial flow of the expanding fireball. Our model calculations show good descriptions of the $D$ meson suppression and elliptic flow observed at the LHC and RHIC. The prediction for the Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}$=5.02~TeV is provided.
