Abstract:
We present a class of explicit solutions for the problem of minimization of the function $f(x,y,z)=\sum_{i=1}^{4}\sqrt{(x-x_{i})^2+(y-y_{i})^2+(z-z_{i})^2},$ which gives the location of the unique stationary (Fermat-Torricelli) point for four non-collinear and non-coplanar points $A_{i}=(x_{i},y_{i},z_{i}),$ determining tetrahedra, which are derived by a proper class of isosceles tetrahedra having…

This class of explicit solutions contains Mehlhos and Glastier's explicit solutions (theoretical constructions) obtained in \cite{Mehlhos:00} and \cite{Glastier:93}, respectively.

Model order reduction (MOR) is crucial for the design process of integrated circuits. Specifically, the vast amount of passive RLCk elements in electromagnetic models extracted from physical layouts exacerbates the extraction time, the storage requirements, and, most critically, the post-layout simulation time of the analyzed circuits. The MORCIC project aims to overcome this problem by proposing new MOR techniques that perform better than commercial tools. Experimental evaluation on several analog and mixed-signal circuits with millions of elements indicates that the proposed methods lead to x5.5 smaller ROMs while maintaining similar accuracy compared to golden ROMs provided by ANSYS RaptorX.

In this paper, we study the weighted Fermat-Frechet problem for a $\frac{N (N+1)}{2}-$tuple of positive real numbers determining $N$-simplexes in the $N$ dimensional $K$-Space ($N$-dimensional Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^{N}$ if $K=0,$ the $N$-dimensional open hemisphere of radius $\frac{1}{\sqrt{K}}$ ($\mathbb{S}_{\frac{1}{\sqrt{K}}}^{N}$) if $K >0$ and the Lobachevsky space $\mathbb{H}_{K}^{N}$ of constant curvature $K$ if $K<0$). The (weighted) Fermat-Frechet problem is a new generalization of the (weighted) Fermat problem for $N$-simplexes. We control the number of solutions (weighted Fermat trees) with respect to the weighted Fermat-Frechet problem that we call a weighted Fermat-Frechet multitree, by using some conditions for the edge lengths discovered by Dekster-Wilker. In order to construct an isometric immersion of a weighted Fermat-Frechet multitree in the $K$- Space, we use the isometric immersion of Godel-Schoenberg for $N$-simplexes in the $N$-sphere and the isometric immersion of Gromov (up to an additive constant) for weighted Fermat (Steiner) trees in the $N$-hyperbolic space $\mathbb{H}_{K}^{N}$. Finally, we create a new variational method, which differs from Schafli's, Luo's and Milnor's techniques to differentiate the length of a geodesic arc with respect to a variable geodesic arc, in the 3$K$-Space. By applying this method, we eliminate one variable geodesic arc from a system of equations, which give the weighted Fermat-Frechet solution for a sextuple of edge lengths determining (Frechet) tetrahedra.

Furthermore, we obtain the unique solution of the inverse weighted Fermat problem, referring to the unique set of $(N+1)$ weights, which correspond to the vertices of an $N-$ boundary simplex in $\mathbb{R}^{N}.$

We obtain an important generalization of the mechanical solution given by S. Gueron and R. Tessler w.r. to the weighted Fermat-Torricelli problem which derives a new structure of solutions which may be called oscillatory Fermat-Torricelli trees. The weighted Fermat-Torricelli problem in R^2 states that: Given three points in R^2 and a positive real number (weight) which correspond to each point , find the point (weighted Fermat-Torricelli point) such that the sum of the weighted distances to these three points is minimized. By applying the mechanical device of Pick and Polya the oscillatory tree solution is a new solution w.r to the weighted Fermat-Torricelli problem for a given isosceles triangle with corresponding two equal weights at the vertices of the base segment. it is worth mentioning that after time t the oscillatory knot of the mechanical system passes from the weighted Fermat-Torricelli point with non zero velocity. Furthermore, we give a numerical example to verify the structure of an oscillatory Fermat-Torricelli tree for a given isosceles triangle with equal weights.

An absorbing weighted Fermat-Torricelli tree of degree four is a weighted Fermat-Torricelli tree of degree four which is derived as a limiting tree structure from a generalized Gauss tree of degree three (weighted full Steiner tree) of the same boundary convex quadrilateral in R^2: By letting the four variable positive weights which correspond to the fixed vertices of the quadrilateral and satisfy the dynamic plasticity equations of the weighted quadrilateral, we obtain a family of limiting tree structures of generalized Gauss trees which concentrate to the same weighted Fermat-Torricelli tree of degree four (universal absorbing Fermat-Torricelli tree). The values of the residual absorbing rates for each derived weighted Fermat-Torricelli tree of degree four of the universal Fermat-Torricelli tree form a universal absorbing set. The minimum of the universal absorbing Fermat-Torricelli set is responsible for the creation of a generalized Gauss tree of degree three for a boundary convex quadrilateral derived by a weighted Fermat-Torricelli tree of a boundary triangle (Angiogenesis of degree three). Each value from the universal absorbing set contains an evolutionary process of a generalized Gauss tree of degree three.
