Asymptotic profiles for the Cauchy problem of damped beam equation with two variable coefficients and derivative nonlinearity
Abstract: In this article we investigate the asymptotic profile of solutions for the Cauchy problem of the nonlinear damped beam equation with two variable coefficients: \[ \partial_t^2 u + b(t) \partial_t u - a(t) \partial_x^2 u + \partial_x^4 u = \partial_x \left( N(\partial_x u) \right). \] In the authors' previous article [17], the asymptotic profile of solutions for linearized problem ($N \equiv 0$)… ▽ More

Varieties in positive characteristic with numerically flat log cotangent bundle
Abstract: In this paper, we prove that a smooth projective globally $F$-split variety with numerically flat tangent bundle is an étale quotient of an ordinary abelian variety. We also show its logarithmic analog, which contains a characterization of toric varieties. We further prove that, without assumption of global $F$-splitting, a smooth projective separably rationally connected variety of arbitrary char… ▽ More

Quasi-F-splittings in birational geometry II
Abstract: Over an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p>41$, we prove that three-dimensional $\mathbb Q$-factorial affine klt varieties are quasi-$F$-split. Furthermore, we show that the bound on the characteristic is optimal.

Quasi-F-splittings in birational geometry
Abstract: We develop the theory of quasi-$F$-splittings in the context of birational geometry. Amongst other things, we obtain results on liftability of sections and establish a criterion for whether a scheme is quasi-$F$-split employing the higher Cartier operator. As one of the applications of our theory, we prove that three-dimensional klt singularities in large characteristic are quasi-$F$-split, and so… ▽ More

Modularity of elliptic curves over cyclotomic $\mathbb{Z}_p$-extensions of real quadratic fields
Abstract: We prove that all elliptic curves defined over the cyclotomic $\mathbb{Z}_p$-extension of a real quadratic field are modular under the assumption that the algebraic part of the central value of a twisted $L$-function is a $p$-adic unit. Our result is a generalization of a result of X. Zhang, which is a real quadratic analogue of a result of Thorne.

Fedder type criteria for quasi-$F$-splitting
Abstract: Yobuko recently introduced the notion of quasi-$F$-splitting and $F$-split heights, which generalize and quantify the notion of Frobenius-splitting, and proved that $F$-split heights coincide with Artin-Mazur heights for Calabi-Yau varieties. In this paper, we prove Fedder type criteria of quasi-$F$-splittings of complete intersections, and in particular obtain an easy formula to compute Artin-Maz… ▽ More

The modularity of elliptic curves over all but finitely many totally real fields of degree 5
Abstract: We study the finiteness of low degree points on certain modular curves and their Atkin--Lehner quotients, and, as an application, prove the modularity of elliptic curves over all but finitely many totally real fields of degree $5$. On the way, we prove a criterion for the finiteness of rational points of degree $5$ on a curve of large genus over a number field using the results of Abramovich--Harr… ▽ More

Structure-preserving finite difference schemes for nonlinear wave equations with dynamic boundary conditions
Abstract: In this article we discuss the numerical analysis for the finite difference scheme of the one-dimensional nonlinear wave equations with dynamic boundary conditions. From the viewpoint of the discrete variational derivative method we propose the derivation of the structure-preserving finite difference schemes of the problem which covers a variety of equations as widely as possible. Minimal model program for semi-stable threefolds in mixed characteristic
Abstract: In this paper, we study the minimal model theory for threefolds in mixed characteristic. As a generalization of a result of Kawamata, we show that the MMP holds for strictly semi-stable schemes over an excellent Dedekind scheme $V$ of relative dimension two without any assumption on the residue characteristics of $V$. We also prove that we can run a $(K_{X/V}+Δ)$-MMP over $Z$, where… ▽ More

Characterization of toric varieties via int-amplified endomorphisms
Abstract: In this paper, we obtain a characterization of toric varieties via int-amplified endomorphisms. We prove that if $f \colon X \to X$ is an int-amplified endomorphism of a smooth complex projective variety $X$, then $X$ is toric if and only if $f_*L$ is a direct sum of line bundles on $X$ for every line bundle $L$.

A second-order accurate structure-preserving scheme for the Cahn-Hilliard equation with a dynamic boundary condition
Abstract: We propose a structure-preserving finite difference scheme for the Cahn-Hilliard equation with a dynamic boundary condition using the discrete variational derivative method (DVDM). By modifying the conventional manner and using an appropriate summation-by-parts formula, we can use a stand… ▽ More

Satellite Constellation Pattern Optimization for Complex Regional Coverage
Abstract: The use of regional coverage satellite constellations is on the rise, urging the need for an optimal constellation design method for complex regional coverage. Traditional constellations are often designed for continuous global coverage, and the few existing regional constellation design methods lead to suboptimal solutions for periodically time-varying or spatially-varying regional coverage requi… ▽ More

Singularities of non-$\mathbb{Q}$-Gorenstein varieties admitting a polarized endomorphism
Abstract: In this paper, we discuss a generalization of log canonical singularities in the non-$\mathbb{Q}$-Gorenstein setting. We prove that if a normal complex projective variety has a non-invertible polarized endomorphism, then it has log canonical singularities in our sense. As a corollary, we give an affirmative answer to a conjecture of Broustet and Höring.
