On a question of Gary G. Gundersen concerning meromorphic functions sharing three distinct values IM and a fourth value CM
Abstract: In 1992, Gundersen (Complex Var. Elliptic Equ.20 (1992), no. 1-4, 99-106.) proposed the following famous open question: if two non-constant meromorphic functions share three values IM and share a fourth value CM, then do the functions necessarily share all four values CM? The open question is a long-standing question in the studies of the Nevanlinna$'$s value distribution theory of meromorphic fun… ▽ More

Dirichlet-Neumann learning algorithm for solving elliptic interface problems
Abstract: Non-overlap** domain decomposition methods are natural for solving interface problems arising from various disciplines, however, the numerical simulation requires technical analysis and is often available only with the use of high-quality grids, thereby impeding their use in more complicated situations. To remove the burden of mesh generation and to effectively tackle with the interface jump con… ▽ More

Domain Decomposition Learning Methods for Solving Elliptic Problems
Abstract: With recent advancements in computer hardware and software platforms, there has been a surge of interest in solving partial differential equations with deep learning-based methods, and the integration with domain decomposition strategies has attracted considerable attention owing to its enhanced representation and parallelization capacities of the network solution. While there are already several… ▽ More

Competitive Online Optimization under Inventory Constraints
Abstract: This paper studies online optimization under inventory (budget) constraints. While online optimization is a well-studied topic, versions with inventory constraints have proven difficult. We consider a formulation of inventory-constrained optimization that is a generalization of the classic one-way trading problem and has a wide range of applications. We present a new algorithmic framework, \textsf… ▽ More

An Investigation on Partitions with Equal Products
Abstract: An ordered triple $(s,p,n)$ is called admissible if there exist two different multisets $X=\{x_1,x_2,\dotsc,x_n\}$ and $Y=\{y_1,y_2,\dotsc,y_n\}$ such that $X$ and $Y$ share the same sum $s$, the same product $p$, and the same size $n$. We first count the number of $n$ such that $(s,p,n)$ are admissible for a fixed $s$. We also fully characterize the values $p$ such that $(s,p,n)$ is admissible. F… ▽ More

On Ring Class Fields of Number Rings
Abstract: For a number field $K$, we extend the notion of the ring class field of an order in $K$ [C. Lv and Y. Deng, SciChina. Math., 2015] to that of an arbitrary number ring in $K$. We give both ideal-theoretic and idele-theoretic description of this number ring class field, and characterize it as a subfield of the ring class field of some order. As an application, we use it to give a criterion of the so… ▽ More

A Parallelizable Acceleration Framework for Packing Linear Programs
Abstract: This paper presents an acceleration framework for packing linear programming problems where the amount of data available is limited, i.e., where the number of constraints m is small compared to the variable dimension n. The framework can be used as a black box to speed up linear programming solvers dramatically, by two orders of magnitude in our experiments. We present worst-case guarantees on the… ▽ More

A note on a famous theorem of Pang and Zalcman
Abstract: In this paper, by studying the famous theorem of Pang and Zalcman, we find a normal family and obtain a result, which is an improvement of Pang and Zalcman's theorem in some sense. Meanwhile, several examples are provided to show that our result's conditions are necessary.

Some Inequalities of differential polynomials II
Abstract: In this paper, we consider the value distribution of the differential polynomials $f^2f^{(k)}-1$ where $k$ is a positive integer, and obtain some estimates only by the reduced counting function. Our result answers a question in (Some inequalities of differential polynomials, Mathematical Inequalities and Applications, \textbf{12}(2009), no.1, 99--113) completely.

On the uniqueness problems of entire functions and their linear differential polynomials
Abstract: The uniqueness problems on transcendental meromorphic or entire functions sharing at least two values with their derivatives or linear differential polynomials have been studied and many results have been obtained. In this paper, we study a transcendental entire function f that shares a non-zero polynomial a with f', together with its linear differential polynomials of the form with rational funct… ▽ More

Note on the Modified q-Bernstein Polynomials
Abstract: In the present paper, we propose the modified q-Bernstein polynomials of degree n, which are different q-Bernstein polynomials of Phillips(see [4]). From these the modified q-Bernstein polynomials of degree n, we derive some interesting recurrence formulae for the modified q-Bernstein polynomials.

New Wallis- and Catalan-Type Infinite Products for $π, e$, and $\sqrt{2+\sqrt2}$
Abstract: We generalize Wallis's 1655 infinite product for $π/2$ to one for $(π/K)\csc(π/K)$, as well as give new Wallis-type products for $π/4, 2, \sqrt{2+\sqrt2}, 2π/3\sqrt3,$ and other constants. The proofs use a classical infinite product formula involving the gamma function. We also extend Catalan's 1873 infinite product of radicals for $e$ to Catalan-type products for $e/4,\sqrt{e}$, and $e^{3/2}/2$.… ▽ More
