Improved stability for the size and structure of sumsets
Abstract: Let $A \subset \mathbb{Z}^d$ be a finite set. It is known that the sumset $NA$ has predictable size ($\vert NA\vert = P_A(N)$ for some $P_A(X) \in \mathbb{Q}[X]$) and structure (all of the lattice points in some finite cone other than all of the lattice points in a finite collection of exceptional subcones), once $N$ is larger than some threshold. Abstract: We present a novel proof of the Duffin-Schaeffer conjecture in metric Diophantine approximation. Self-Correlations of Hurwitz Class Numbers
Abstract: The asymptotic study of class numbers of binary quadratic forms is a foundational problem in arithmetic statistics. Here, we investigate finer statistics of class numbers by studying their self-correlations under additive shifts. Specifically, we produce uniform asymptotics for the shifted convolution sum $\sum_{n < X} H(n) H(n+\ell)$ for fixed $\ell \in \mathbb{Z}$, in which $H(n)$ denotes the Hu… ▽ More

Bisector fields and projective duality

The Second Moment of Sums of Coefficients of Cusp Forms
Abstract: Let $f$ and $g$ be weight $k$ holomorphic cusp forms and let $S_f(n)$ and $S_g(n)$ denote the sums of their first $n$ Fourier coefficients. Hafner and Ivic [HI], building on Chandrasekharan and Narasimhan [CN], proved asymptotics for $\sum_{n \leq X} \lvert S_f(n) \rvert^2$ and proved that the Classical Conjecture, that $S_f(X) \ll X^{\frac{k-1}{2} + \frac{1}{4} + ε}$, holds on average over long i… ▽ More

A multiplicative analogue of Schnirelmann's theorem
Abstract: The classical theorem of Schnirelmann states that the primes are an additive basis for the integers. In this paper we consider the analogous multiplicative setting of the cyclic group $\left(\mathbb{Z}/ q\mathbb{Z}\right)^{\times}$, and prove a similar result. For all suitably large primes $q$ we define $P_η$ to be the set of primes less than $ηq$, viewed naturally as a subset of… ▽ More

Roots, Schottky semigroups, and a proof of Bandt's Conjecture
Abstract: In 1985, Barnsley and Harrington defined a ``Mandelbrot Set'' $\mathcal{M}$ for pairs of similarities --- this is the set of complex numbers $z$ with $0<|z|<1$ for which the limit set of the semigroup generated by the similarities $x \mapsto zx$ and $x \mapsto z(x-1)+1$ is connected. Equivalently, $\mathcal{M}$ is the closure of the set of roots of polynomials with coefficients in… ▽ More

Stable immersions in orbifolds
Abstract: We prove that in any hyperbolic orbifold with one boundary component, the product of any hyperbolic fundamental group element with a sufficiently large multiple of the boundary is represented by a geodesic loop that virtually bounds an immersed surface. In the case that the orbifold is a disk, there are some conditions. Our results generalize work of Calegari-Louwsma and resolve a conjecture of Ca… ▽ More

Stable commutator length in free products of cyclic groups
Abstract: We give an algorithm to compute stable commutator length in free products of cyclic groups which is polynomial time in the length of the input, the number of factors, and the orders of the finite factors. We also describe some experimental and theoretical applications of this algorithm.
