Quantum Algorithms for the Pathwise Lasso
Abstract: We present a novel quantum high-dimensional linear regression algorithm with an $\ell_1$-penalty based on the classical LARS (Least Angle Regression) pathwise algorithm. Similarly to available classical algorithms for Lasso, our quantum algorithm provides the full regularisation path as the penalty term varies, but quadratically faster per iteration under specific conditions. A quadratic speedup o… ▽ More

Radio labelling of two-branch trees
Abstract: A radio labelling of a graph $G$ is a map** $f : V(G) \rightarrow \{0, 1, 2,\ldots\}$ such that $|f(u)-f(v)| \geq diam(G) + 1 - d(u,v)$ for every pair of distinct vertices $u,v$ of $G$, where $diam(G)$ is the diameter of $G$ and $d(u,v)$ is the distance between $u$ and $v$ in $G$. The radio number $rn(G)$ of $G$ is the smallest integer $k$ such that $G$ admits a radio labelling $f$ with… ▽ More

Hamiltonian chromatic number of trees
Abstract: Let $G$ be a simple finite connected graph of order $n$. The detour distance between two distinct vertices $u$ and $v$ denoted by $D(u,v)$ is the length of a longest $uv$-path in $G$. A hamiltonian coloring $h$ of a graph $G$ of order $n$ is a map** $h : V(G) \rightarrow \{0,1,2,...\}$ such that $D(u,v) + |h(u)-h(v)| \geq n-1$, for every two distinct vertices $u$ and $v$ of $G$. Averaging plus Learning Models and Their Asymptotics
Abstract: We develop original models to study interacting agents in financial markets and in social networks. Within these models randomness is vital as a form of shock or news that decays with time. Agents learn from their observations and learning ability to interpret news or private information in time-varying networks. Under general assumption on the noise, a limit theorem is developed for the generalis… ▽ More

S-Matrix on the Moyal Plane: Locality versus Lorentz Invariance
Abstract: Twisted quantum field theories on the Groenewold-Moyal plane are known to be non-local. Despite this non-locality, it is possible to define a generalized notion of causality. We show that interacting quantum field theories that involve only couplings between matter fields, or between matter fields and minimally coupled U(1) gauge fields are causal in this sense. On the other hand, interactions b… ▽ More

Twisted Gauge and Gravity Theories on the Groenewold-Moyal Plane
Abstract: Recent work [hep-th/0504183,hep-th/0508002] indicates an approach to the formulation of diffeomorphism invariant quantum field theories (qft's) on the Groenewold-Moyal (GM) plane. In this approach to the qft's, statistics gets twisted and the S-matrix in the non-gauge qft's becomes independent of the noncommutativity parameter theta^{μν}. Here we show that the noncommutative algebra has a commut… ▽ More

Statistics and UV-IR Mixing with Twisted Poincare Invariance
Abstract: We elaborate on the role of quantum statistics in twisted Poincare invariant theories. It is shown that, in order to have twisted Poincare group as the symmetry of a quantum theory, statistics must be twisted. It is also confirmed that the removal of UV-IR mixing (in the absence of gauge fields) in such theories is a natural consequence.

QED on the Groenewold Moyal Plane
Abstract: We investigate a version of noncommutative QED where the interaction term, although natural, breaks the spin-statistics connection. We calculate $e^- + e^- -> e^- + e^-$ and $γ+ e^- -> γ+ e^-$ cross-sections in the tree approximation and explicitly display their dependence on theta^{μν}. Remarkably the zero of the elastic $e^- + e^- -> e^- + e^-$ cross-section at 90-degrees in the center-of-mass… ▽ More

Twisted Conformal Symmetry in Noncommutative Two-Dimensional Quantum Field Theory
Abstract: By twisting the commutation relations between creation and annihilation operators, we show that quantum conformal invariance can be implemented in the 2-d Moyal plane. This is an explicit realization of an infinite dimensional symmetry as a quantum algebra.

Spin and Statistics on the Groenewold-Moyal Plane: Pauli-Forbidden Levels and Transitions
Abstract: The Groenewold-Moyal plane is the algebra A_θ(R^(d+1)) of functions on R^(d+1) with the star-product as the multiplication law, and the commutator [x_μ,x_ν] =i θ_{μν} between the coordinate functions. Chaichian et al. and Aschieri et al. have proved that the Poincare group acts as automorphisms on A_θ(R^(d+1))$ if the coproduct is deformed. Thurston Geometries from Eleven Dimensions
Abstract: In three dimensions, a `master theory' for all Thurston geometries requires imaginary flux. However, these geometries can be obtained from physical three-dimensional theories with various additional scalar fields, which can be interpreted as moduli in various compactifications of a higher-dimensional `master theory'. Three Thurston geometries are of the form N_2 x S^1, where N_2 denotes a two-di… ▽ More

Instantons and Chiral Anomaly in Fuzzy Physics
Abstract: In continuum physics, there are important topological aspects like instantons, theta-terms and the axial anomaly. Conventional lattice discretizations often have difficulties in treating one or the other of these aspects. In this paper, we develop discrete quantum field theories on fuzzy manifolds using noncommutative geometry. Basing ourselves on previous treatments of instantons and chiral fer… ▽ More

Monopoles and Solitons in Fuzzy Physics
Abstract: Monopoles and solitons have important topological aspects like quantized fluxes, winding numbers and curved target spaces. Naive discretizations which substitute a lattice of points for the underlying manifolds are incapable of retaining these features in a precise way. We study these problems of discrete physics and matrix models and discuss mathematically coherent discretizations of monopoles… ▽ More
