A Rényi entropy interpretation of anti-concentration and noncentral sections of convex bodies
Abstract: We extend Bobkov and Chistyakov's (2015) upper bounds on concentration functions of sums of independent random variables to a multivariate entropic setting. The approach is based on pointwise estimates on densities of sums of independent random vectors uniform on centred Euclidean balls. In this vein, we also obtain sharp bounds on volumes of noncentral sections of isotropic convex bodies.

Stability of polydisc slicing
Abstract: We prove a dimension-free stability result for polydisc slicing due to Oleszkiewicz and Pelczyński (2000). Resilience of cube slicing in $\ell_p$
Abstract: Ball's celebrated cube slicing (1986) asserts that among hyperplane sections of the cube in $\mathbb{R}^n$, the central section orthogonal to $(1,1,0,\dots,0)$ has the greatest volume. We show that the same continues to hold for slicing $\ell_p$ balls when $p > 10^{15}$, as well as that the same hyperplane minimizes the volume of projections of $\ell_q$ balls for $1 < q < 1 + 10^{-12}$. Gaussian mixtures: entropy and geometric inequalities
Abstract: A symmetric random variable is called a Gaussian mixture if it has the same distribution as the product of two independent random variables, one being positive and the other a standard Gaussian random variable. Examples of Gaussian mixtures include random variables with densities proportional to $e^{-|t|^p}$ and symmetric $p$-stable random variables, where $p\in(0,2]$. We obtain various sharp mome… ▽ More

A multidimensional analogue of the Rademacher-Gaussian tail comparison
Abstract: We prove a dimension-free tail comparison between the Euclidean norms of sums of independent random vectors uniformly distributed in centred Euclidean spheres and properly rescaled standard Gaussian random vectors.

A reverse entropy power inequality for log-concave random vectors
Abstract: We prove that the exponent of the entropy of one dimensional projections of a log-concave random vector defines a 1/5-seminorm. We make two conjectures concerning reverse entropy power inequalities in the log-concave setting and discuss some examples.

Injective Tauberian operators on $L_1$ and operators with dense range on $\ell_\infty$
Abstract: There exist injective Tauberian operators on $L_1(0,1)$ that have dense, non closed range. This gives injective, non surjective operators on $\ell_\infty$ that have dense range. Consequently, there are two quasi-complementary, non complementary subspaces of $\ell_\infty$ that are isometric to $\ell_\infty$.

A note on suprema of canonical processes based on random variables with regular moments
Abstract: We derive two-sided bounds for expected values of suprema of canonical processes based on random variables with moments growing regularly. We also discuss a Sudakov-type minoration principle for canonical processes.

Two-sided bounds for $L_p$-norms of combinations of products of independent random variables
Abstract: We show that for every positive p, the L_p-norm of linear combinations (with scalar or vector coefficients) of products of i.i.d. random variables, whose moduli have a nondegenerate distribution with the p-norm one, is comparable to the l_p-norm of the coefficients and the constants are explicit. As a result the same holds for linear combinations of Riesz products. We also establish the upper an… ▽ More

Convex Poincaré inequality
Abstract: We characterize the symmetric measures which satisfy the one dimensional convex Poincaré inequality. For these measures the tenesorization argument yields concentration inequalities for their products and convex sets in R^n.
