Indian e-commerce industry has evolved over the last decade and is expected to grow over the next few years. The focus has now shifted to turnaround time (TAT) due to the emergence of many third-party logistics providers and higher customer expectations. The key consideration for delivery providers is to balance their overall operating costs while meeting the promised TAT to their customers. E-commerce delivery partners operate through a network of facilities whose strategic locations help to run the operations efficiently. In this work, we identify the locations of hubs throughout the country and their corresponding map** with the distribution centers. The objective is to minimize the total network costs with TAT adherence. We use Genetic Algorithm and leverage business constraints to reduce the solution search space and hence the solution time. The results indicate an improvement of 9.73% in TAT compliance compared with the current scenario.

This paper provides a framework to quantify the sensitivity associated with behavioral models based on Cumulative Prospect Theory (CPT). These are used to design dynamic pricing strategies aimed at maximizing performance metrics of the Shared Mobility On-Demand Service (SMoDS), as solutions to a constrained nonlinear optimization problem. We analyze the sensitivity of both the optimal tariff as well as the optimal objective function with respect to CPT model parameters. In addition to deriving analytical solutions under certain assumptions, more general numerical results are obtained via computational experiments and simulations to analyze the sensitivity. We find that the model is relatively robust for small to moderate parameter perturbations. Although some of the trends in sensitivity are fairly general, the exact nature of variations in many cases depends heavily on the specific travel scenarios and modes being considered. This is primarily due to the complex nonlinearities in the problem, as well as the significant heterogeneity in passenger preferences across different types of trips.

We present a treatment of non-Markovian character of memory by incorporating different forms of Mittag-Leffler (ML) function, which generally arises in the solution of fractional master equation, as different memory functions in the Generalized Kolmogorov-Feller Equation (GKFE). The cross-over from the short time (stretched exponential) to long time (inverse power law) approximations of the ML function incorporated in the GKFE is proven. We have found that the GKFE solutions are the same for negative exponential and for upto frst order expansion of stretched exponential function for very small $τ\rightarrow 0$. A generalized integro-differential equation form of the GKFE along with an asymptotic case is provided.

There are some real life issues that are exists in nature which has early failure. This type of problems can be modelled either by a complex distribution having more than one parameter or by finite mixture of some distribution. In this article a single parameter continuous distribution is introduced to model such type of problems. The base line distribution is exponential and it is compounded by lindley distribution. Some important properties of the proposed distribution such as distribution function, survival function, hazard function and cumulative hazard function are derived. The maximum likelihood estimate of the parameter is obtained which is not in closed form, thus iteration procedure is used to obtain the estimate of parameter. The moments of the proposed distribution does not exist thus median and mode is obtained. The distribution is positively skewed and the hazard rate of this distribution is decreasing. Some real data sets are used to see the performance of proposed distribution with comparison of some other competent distributions of decreasing hazard using Likelihood, AIC, AICc, BIC and KS statistics.

We propose a stochastic prediction-control framework to promote safety in automated driving by directly controlling the joint state probability density functions (PDFs) subject to the vehicle dynamics via trajectory-level state feedback. To illustrate the main ideas, we focus on a multi-lane highway driving scenario although the proposed framework can be adapted to other contexts. The computational pipeline consists of a PDF prediction layer, followed by a PDF control layer. The prediction layer performs moving horizon nonparametric forecasts for the ego and the non-ego vehicles' stochastic states, and thereby derives safe target PDF for the ego. The latter is based on the forecasted collision probabilities, and promotes the probabilistic safety for the ego. The PDF control layer designs a feedback that optimally steers the joint state PDF subject to the controlled ego dynamics while satisfying the endpoint PDF constraints. Our computation for the PDF prediction layer leverages the structure of the controlled Liouville PDE to evolve the joint PDF values, as opposed to empirically approximating the PDFs. Our computation for the PDF control layer leverages the differential flatness structure in vehicle dynamics. We harness recent theoretical and algorithmic advances in optimal mass transport, and the Schrödinger bridge. The numerical simulations illustrate the efficacy of the proposed framework.

The determination of environmentally- and economically-optimal energy system designs and operations is complex. In particular, the integration of weather-dependent renewable energy technologies into energy system optimization models presents new challenges to computational tractability that cannot only be solved by advancements in computational resources. In consequence, energy system modelers must tackle the complexity of their models daily and introduce various methods to manipulate the underlying data and model structure, with the ultimate goal of finding optimal solutions. As which complexity reduction method is suitable for which research question is often unclear, herein we review some approaches to handling complexity. Thus, we first analyze the determinants of complexity and note that many drivers of complexity could be avoided a priori with a tailored model design. Second, we conduct a review of systematic complexity reduction methods for energy system optimization models, which can range from simple linearization performed by modelers to sophisticated multi-level approaches combining aggregation and decomposition methods. Based on this overview, we develop a guide for modelers who encounter computational limitations.

This paper derives new results for the analysis of nonlinear systems by extending contraction theory in the framework of vector distances. A new tool, vector contraction analysis utilizing a notion of the vector-valued norm which evidently induces a vector distance between any pair of trajectories of the system, offers an amenable framework as each component of vector-valued norm function satisfies fewer strict conditions as that of standard contraction analysis. Particularly, every element of vector-valued norm derivative need not be strictly negative definite for convergence of any pair of trajectories of the system. Moreover, vector-valued norm derivative satisfies a component-wise inequality employing some comparison system. In fact, the convergence analysis is performed by comparing the relative distances between any pair of the trajectories of the original nonlinear system and the comparison system. Comparison results are derived by utilizing the concepts of quasi-monotonicity property of the function and vector differential inequalities. Moreover, the results are also derived in the framework of the cone ordering instead of utilizing component-wise inequalities between vectors. In addition, the proposed framework is illustrated by examples.

This paper deals with the numerical computations of two space dimensional time dependent parabolic partial differential equations by adopting adopting an optimal five stage fourth-order strong stability preserving Runge Kutta (SSP-RK54) scheme for time discretization, and three methods of differential quadrature with different sets of modified B-splines as base functions, for space discretization: namely i) mECDQM: (DQM with modified extended cubic B-splines); ii) mExp-DQM: DQM with modified exponential cubic B-splines, and iii) MTB-DQM: DQM with modified trigonometric cubic B-splines. Specially, we implement these methods on convection-diffusion equation to convert them into a system of first order ordinary differential equations,in time which can be solved using any time integration method, while we prefer SSP-RK54 scheme. All the three methods are found stable for two space convection-diffusion equation by employing matrix stability analysis method. The accuracy and validity of the methods are confirmed by three test problems of two dimensional convection-diffusion equation, which shows that the proposed approximate solutions by any of the method are in good agreement with the exact solutions.

Our description is in terms of coherent sheaves on the twisted dual Lie algebra. We also extend their computation of the corresponding loop rotation equivariant derived category, which is described in terms of Harish-Chandra bimodules for the twisted dual Lie algebra. To carry this out, we have to find a substitute for the functor of global equivariant cohomology. We describe such a functor, and show as in Bezrukavnikov-Finkelberg that it is computed in terms of Kostant-Whittaker reduction on the dual side.

Let $G = \ZZ_p$, $p$ an odd prime, act freely on a finite-dimensional CW-complex $X$ with mod $p$ cohomology isomorphic to that of a lens space $L^{2m-1} (p;q_1,...,q_m)$. In this paper, we determine the mod $p$ cohomology ring of the orbit space $X/G$, when $p^2\nmid m$.

Abstract:
We present short and elementary proofs of two theorems of Huckaba and Marley, while generalizing them at the same time to the case of a module. The theorems concern a characterization of the depth of the associated graded ring of a Cohen-Macaulay module, with respect to a Hilbert filtration, in terms of the Hilbert coefficient e_1. As an application, we derive bounds on the higher Hilbert coeffi…

As an application, we derive bounds on the higher Hilbert coefficient e_i in terms of e_0.
