Bootstrap percolation on the high-dimensional Hamming graph
Abstract: In the random $r$-neighbour bootstrap percolation process on a graph $G$, a set of initially infected vertices is chosen at random by retaining each vertex of $G$ independently with probability $p\in (0,1)$, and "healthy" vertices get infected in subsequent rounds if they have at least $r$ infected neighbours. A graph $G$ \emph{percolates} if every vertex becomes eventually infected. A central pro… ▽ More

Catching a robber on a random $k$-uniform hypergraph
Abstract: The game of \emph{Cops and Robber} is usually played on a graph, where a group of cops attempt to catch a robber moving along the edges of the graph. The \emph{cop number} of a graph is the minimum number of cops required to win the game. An important conjecture in this area, due to Meyniel, states that the cop number of an $n$-vertex connected graph is $O(\sqrt{n})$. In 2016, Prałat and Wormald [… ▽ More

Limit profile for the ASEP with one open boundary
Abstract: We study the speed of convergence to equilibrium for the asymmetric simple exclusion process (ASEP) on a finite interval with one open boundary. We provide sharp estimates on the total-variation distance from equilibrium and verify that the limit profile undergoes a phase transition from a Gaussian to a KPZ profile.

Approximating the stationary distribution of the ASEP with open boundaries
Abstract: We investigate the stationary distribution of asymmetric and weakly asymmetric simple exclusion processes with open boundaries. We project the stationary distribution onto a subinterval, whose size is allowed to grow with the length of the underlying segment. Depending on the boundary parameters of the exclusion process, we provide conditions such that the stationary distribution projected onto a… ▽ More

The $S_k$ shuffle block dynamics
Abstract: We introduce and analyze the $S_k$ shuffle on $N$ cards, a natural generalization of the celebrated random adjacent transposition shuffle. In the $S_k$ shuffle, we choose uniformly at random a block of $k$ consecutive cards, and shuffle these cards according to a permutation chosen uniformly at random from the symmetric group on $k$ elements. We study the total-variation mixing time of the $S_k$ s… ▽ More

Random planar trees and the Jacobian conjecture
Abstract: We develop a probabilistic approach to the celebrated Jacobian conjecture, which states that any Keller map (i.e. any polynomial map** $F\colon \mathbb{C}^n \to \mathbb{C}^n$ whose Jacobian determinant is a nonzero constant) has a compositional inverse which is also a polynomial. The Jacobian conjecture may be formulated in terms of a problem involving labellings of rooted trees; we give a new p… ▽ More

Biased random walk on dynamical percolation
Abstract: We study biased random walks on dynamical percolation on $\mathbb{Z}^d$. We establish a law of large numbers and an invariance principle for the random walk using regeneration times. Moreover, we verify that the Einstein relation holds, and we investigate the speed of the walk as a function of the bias. While for $d=1$ the speed is increasing, we show that in general this fails in dimension… ▽ More

On the number and size of Markov equivalence classes of random directed acyclic graphs
Abstract: In causal inference on directed acyclic graphs, the orientation of edges is in general only recovered up to Markov equivalence classes. We study Markov equivalence classes of uniformly random directed acyclic graphs. Using a tower decomposition, we show that the ratio between the number of Markov equivalence classes and directed acyclic graphs approaches a positive constant when the number of site… ▽ More

Mixing times and cutoff for the TASEP in the high and low density phase
Abstract: We study the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process with open boundaries in the high density and the low density phase. In the bulk of the two phases, we show that the process on a segment of length $N$ exhibits cutoff at order $N$, while in the intersection of the phases, the coexistence line, the mixing time is of order $N^2$, and no cutoff occurs. In particular, we determine the… ▽ More

Mixing times for the TASEP on the circle
Abstract: We study mixing times for the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) on a circle of length $N$ with $k$ particles. We show that the mixing time is of order $N^2 \min(k,N-k)^{-1/2}$, and that the cutoff phenomenon does not occur. This confirms behavior which was separately predicted by Jara, Lacoin and Peres, and it is more broadly believed to hold for integrable models in the KPZ-univ… ▽ More

Abstract: We study mixing times for the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) on a segment of size $N$ with open boundaries. We focus on the maximal current phase, and prove that the mixing time is of order $N^{3/2}$, up to logarithmic corrections. In the triple point, where the TASEP with open boundaries approaches the Uniform distribution on the state space, we show that the mixing time is p… ▽ More

Sharp concentration for the largest and smallest fragment in a $k$-regular self-similar fragmentation
Abstract: We study the asymptotics of the $k$-regular self-similar fragmentation process. For $α> 0$ and an integer $k \geq 2$, this is the Markov process $(I_t)_{t \geq 0}$ in which each $I_t$ is a union of open subsets of $[0,1)$, and independently each subinterval of $I_t$ of size $u$ breaks into $k$ equally sized pieces at rate $u^α$. Cutoff on trees is rare
Abstract: We study the simple random walk on trees and give estimates on the mixing and relaxation time. Relying on a recent characterization by Basu, Hermon and Peres, we give geometric criteria, which are easy to verify and allow to determine whether the cutoff phenomenon occurs. We thoroughly discuss families of trees with cutoff, and show how our criteria can be used to prove the absence of cutoff for s… ▽ More

The TASEP on Galton-Watson trees
Abstract: We study the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) on trees where particles are generated at the root. Particles can only jump away from the root, and they jump from $x$ to $y$ at rate $r_{x,y}$ provided $y$ is empty. Starting from the all empty initial condition, we show that the distribution of the configuration at time $t$ converges to an equilibrium. We study the current and give… ▽ More

The speed of the tagged particle in the exclusion process on Galton-Watson trees
Abstract: We study two different versions of the simple exclusion process on augmented Galton-Watson trees, the constant speed model and the varying speed model. In both cases, the simple exclusion process starts from an equilibrium distribution with non-vanishing particle density. Moreover, we assume to have initially a particle in the root, the tagged particle. We show for both models that the tagged part… ▽ More

Limit theorems for the tagged particle in exclusion processes on regular trees
Abstract: We consider exclusion processes on a rooted $d$-regular tree. We start from a Bernoulli product measure conditioned on having a particle at the root, which we call the tagged particle. For $d\geq 3$, we show that the tagged particle has positive linear speed and satisfies a central limit theorem. We give an explicit formula for the speed. As a key step in the proof, we first show that the exclusio… ▽ More

Mixing times for the simple exclusion process in ballistic random environment
Abstract: We consider the exclusion process on segments of the integers in a site-dependent random environment. We assume to be in the ballistic regime in which a single particle has positive linear speed. Our goal is to study the mixing time of the exclusion process when the number of particles is linear in the size of the segment. We investigate the order of the mixing time depending on the support of the… ▽ More
