Abstract:
We consider the initial value problem associated to the low dispersion fractionary Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equation, fBBM. Our aim is to establish local persistence results in weighted Sobolev spaces and to obtain unique continuation results that imply that those results above are sharp. Hence, arbitrary polynomial type decay is not preserved by the fBBM flow.

We study spatial decay properties for solutions of the Pelinovski-Stepanyants equation posed on the cylinder. We establish the maximum polynomial decay admissible for solutions of such a model. It is verified that the equation on the cylinder propagates polynomial weights with different restrictions than the model set in $\mathbb{R}^2$. For example, a local well-posedness theory is deduced which contains the line solitary wave provided by solutions of the Benjamin-Ono equation extended to the cylinder. Key results for our analysis are obtained from a detailed study of the dispersive effects of the linear equation in weighted Sobolev spaces. The results in this paper appear to be one of the first studies of polynomial decay for nonlocal models in the cylinder.

Abstract:
This work mainly focuses on the spatial decay properties of solutions to the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation. In earlier studies for the two- and three-dimensional cases, it was established that if the initial condition $u_0$ verifies $\langle σ\cdot x\rangle^{r}u_{0}\in L^{2}(\left\{σ\cdot x\geq κ\right\}),$ for some $r\in\mathbb{N}$, $κ\in\mathbb{R}$, being $σ$ be a suitable non-null vector in the E…

This work mainly focuses on the spatial decay properties of solutions to the Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation. In earlier studies for the two- and three-dimensional cases, it was established that if the initial condition $u_0$ verifies $\langle σ\cdot x\rangle^{r}u_{0}\in L^{2}(\left\{σ\cdot x\geq κ\right\}),$ for some $r\in\mathbb{N}$, $κ\in\mathbb{R}$, being $σ$ be a suitable non-null vector in the Euclidean space, then the corresponding solution $u(t)$ generated from this initial condition verifies $\langle σ\cdot x\rangle ^{r}u(t)\in L^2\left(\left\{σ\cdot x>κ-νt\right\}\right)$, for any $ν>0$. In this regard, we first extend such results to arbitrary dimensions, decay power $r>0$ not necessarily an integer, and we give a detailed description of the gain of regularity propagated by solutions in terms of the magnitude of the weight $r$. The deduction of our results depends on a new class of pseudo-differential operators, which is useful to quantify decay and smoothness properties on a fractional scale. Secondly, we show that if the initial data $u_{0}$ has a decay of exponential type on a particular half space, that is, $e^{b\, σ\cdot x}u_{0}\in L^{2}(\left\{σ\cdot x\geq κ\right\}),$ then the corresponding solution satisfies $e^{b\, σ\cdot x} u(t)\in H^{p}\left(\left\{σ\cdot x>κ-νt\right\}\right),$ for all $p\in\mathbb{N}$, and time $t\geq δ,$ where $δ>0$. To our knowledge, this is the first study of such property. As a further consequence, we also obtain well-posedness results in anisotropic weighted Sobolev spaces in arbitrary dimensions.
Finally, as a by-product of the techniques considered here, we show that our results are also valid for solutions of the Korteweg-de Vries equation.

This work concerns the study of persistence property in polynomial weighted spaces for solutions of the generalized fractional KdV equation in any spatial dimension $d\geq 1$. By establishing well-posedness results in conjunction with some asymptotic at infinity unique continuation principles, it is verified that dispersive effects and dimensionality mainly determine the maximum spatial decay allowed by solutions of this model. In particular, we recover and extend some known results on weighted spaces for different models such as the Benjamin-Ono equation, and the dispersion generalized Benjamin-Ono equation. The estimates obtained for the linear equation seem to be of independent interest, and they are useful to obtain persistence properties in weighted spaces for models with different nonlinearities as the fractional KdV equation with combined nonlinearities.

In the $L^2$-subcritical case, $1<m<\frac{2d}α+1$, we prove the orbital stability of solitary waves using the concentration-compactness argument, the commutator estimates and expansions of nonlocal operator $D^α$ in several variables. In the $L^2$-supercritical case, $\frac{2d}α+1<m<m_{\ast}$, we show that solitary waves are unstable. The instability is obtained by making use of an explicit sequence of initial conditions in conjunction with modulation and truncation arguments. This work maybe be of interest for studying solitary waves and other coherent structures in dispersive equations that involve nonlocal operators. The arguments developed here are independent of the spatial dimension and rely on a careful analysis of spatial decay of ground states and their regularity. In particular, in the one-dimensional setting, we show the instability of solitary waves of the supercritical generalized Benjamin-Ono equation and the dispersion-generalized Benjamin-Ono equation, furthermore, new results on the instability are obtained in the weaker dispersion regime $\frac{1}{2}<α<1$.

We consider two types of the generalized Korteweg - de Vries equation, where the nonlinearity is given with or without absolute values, and, in particular, including the low powers of nonlinearity, an example of which is the Schamel equation. We first prove the local well-posedness of both equations in a weighted subspace of $H^1$ that includes functions with polynomial decay, extending the result of Linares et al [39] to fractional weights. We then investigate solutions numerically, confirming the well-posedness and extending it to a wider class of functions that includes exponential decay. We include a comparison of solutions to both types of equations, in particular, we investigate soliton resolution for the positive and negative data with different decay rates. Finally, we study the interaction of various solitary waves in both models, showing the formation of solitons, dispersive radiation and even breathers, all of which are easier to track in nonlinearities with lower power.

For a generalized equation (fractional 2D gKdV) after deriving the Pohozaev identities, we obtain non-existence conditions for solitary wave solutions, then prove uniform bounds in the energy space or conditional global existence, and investigate the radiation region, a specific wedge in the negative $x$-direction. We then introduce our numerical approach in a general context, and apply it to obtain the ground state solution in the 2D critical HBO equation, then show that its mass is a threshold for global vs. finite time existing solutions, which is typical in the focusing (mass-)critical dispersive equations. We also observe that globally existing solutions tend to disperse completely into the radiation in this nonlocal equation. The blow-up solutions travel in the positive $x$-direction with the rescaled ground state profile while also radiating dispersive oscillations into the radiative wedge. We conclude with examples of different interactions of two solitary wave solutions, including weak and strong interactions.

This crucially relies on the boundedness of the Riesz transform in weighted Lebesgue spaces. As a consequence, we obtain a class of data that exists globally, moreover, scatters in positive time. Furthermore, in the focusing case in the $L^2$-supercritical setting we obtain a subset of locally well-posed data with positive energy, which blows up in finite time.

Generally, these models do not propagate polynomial weights of arbitrary magnitude, and the maximum decay rate is associated with the dispersive part of the equation. Altogether, this analysis is complemented by unique continuation principles that determine optimal spatial decay. This work is intended to establish the above questions for a weakly dispersive perturbation of the inviscid Burgers equation. More precisely, we consider the fractional Korteweg-de Vries equation, which comprises the Burgers-Hilbert equation and dispersive effects weaker than those of the Benjamin-ono equation.

This work aims to study some smoothness properties concerning the initial value problem associated to the dispersive generalized Benjamin-Ono-Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation. More precisely, we prove that the solutions to this model satisfy the so-called propagation of regularity. Roughly speaking, this principle states that if the initial data enjoys some extra smoothness prescribed on a family of half-spaces, then the regularity is propagated with infinite speed. In this sense, we prove that regardless of the scale measuring the extra regularity in such hyperplane collection, then all this regularity is also propagated by solutions of this model. Our analysis is mainly based on the deduction of propagation formulas relating homogeneous and non-homogeneous derivatives in certain regions of the plane.

More precisely, we determinate local well-posedness conclusions in classical Sobolev spaces and some spaces adapted to the energy of the equation. A key ingredient is a commutator estimate involving the Hilbert transform and fractional derivatives. We also study local well-posedness for the associated periodic initial value problem. Additionally, by determining well-posedness in anisotropic weighted Sobolev spaces as well as some unique continuation principles, we characterize the spatial behavior of solutions of this model. As a further consequence of our results, we derive new conclusions for the Shrira equation which appears in the context of waves in shear flows.
