We propose a semiparametric model for dyadic link formations in directed networks. The model contains a set of degree parameters that measure different effects of popularity or outgoingness across nodes, a regression parameter vector that reflects the homophily effect resulting from the nodal attributes or pairwise covariates associated with edges, and a set of latent random noises with unknown distributions. Our interest lies in inferring the unknown degree parameters and homophily parameters. The dimension of the degree parameters increases with the number of nodes. Under the high-dimensional regime, we develop a kernel-based least squares approach to estimate the unknown parameters. The major advantage of our estimator is that it does not encounter the incidental parameter problem for the homophily parameters. We prove consistency of all the resulting estimators of the degree parameters and homophily parameters. We establish high-dimensional central limit theorems for the proposed estimators and provide several applications of our general theory, including testing the existence of degree heterogeneity, testing sparse signals and recovering the support. Simulation studies and a real data application are conducted to illustrate the finite sample performance of the proposed methods.

In the literature, there are many results about permutation polynomials over finite fields. However, very few permutations of vector spaces are constructed although it has been shown that permutations of vector spaces have many applications in cryptography, especially in constructing permutations with low differential and boomerang uniformities.
In this paper, motivated by the butterfly structure \cite{perrin2016cryptanalysis} and the work of Qu and Li \cite{qu2023}, we investigate rotatable permutations from $\gf_{2^m}^3$ to itself with $d$-homogenous functions.
Based on the theory of equations of low degree, the resultant of polynomials, and some skills of exponential sums, we construct five infinite classes of $3$-homogeneous rotatable permutations from $\gf_{2^m}^3$ to itself, where $m$ is odd. Moreover, we demonstrate that the corresponding permutation polynomials of $\gf_{2^{3m}}$ of our newly constructed permutations of $\gf_{2^m}^3$ are QM-inequivalent to the known ones.

The pair $(E,G)$ is called a supersingular elliptic curve with level-$c$ structure, and the endomorphism ring $\text{End}(E,G)$ is isomorphic to an Eichler order with level $c$. We construct two kinds of Eichler orders $\mathcal{O}_c(q,r)$ and $\mathcal{O}'_c(q,r')$ with level $c$. Interestingly, we can reduce each $\mathcal{O}_c(q,r)$ or $\mathcal{O}'_c(q,r')$ to a primitive reduced binary quadratic form with discriminant $-16cp$ or $-cp$ respectively. If the curve $E$ is $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{-cp}]$-oriented, then we prove that $\text{End}(E,G)$ is isomorphic to $\mathcal{O}_c(q,r)$ or $\mathcal{O}'_c(q,r')$. Due to the fact that $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{-cp}]$-oriented isogenies between $\mathbb{Z}[\sqrt{-cp}]$-oriented elliptic curves could be represented by quadratic forms, we show that these isogenies are reflected in the corresponding Eichler orders via the composition law for their corresponding quadratic forms.

Continuous time network data have been successfully modeled by multivariate counting processes, in which the intensity function is characterized by covariate information. However, degree heterogeneity has not been incorporated into the model which may lead to large biases for the estimation of homophily effects. In this paper, we propose a degree-corrected Cox network model to simultaneously analyze the dynamic degree heterogeneity and homophily effects for continuous time directed network data. Since each node has individual-specific in- and out-degree effects in the model, the dimension of the time-varying parameter vector grows with the number of nodes, which makes the estimation problem non-standard. We develop a local estimating equations approach to estimate unknown time-varying parameters, and establish consistency and asymptotic normality of the proposed estimators by using the powerful martingale process theories. We further propose test statistics to test for trend and degree heterogeneity in dynamic networks. Simulation studies are provided to assess the finite sample performance of the proposed method and a real data analysis is used to illustrate its practical utility.

Interestingly, we establish a one-to-one correspondence between $\mathbb{F}_p$-isomorphism classes of supersingular elliptic curves and primitive reduced binary quadratic forms with discriminant $-p$ or $-16p$. Due to this correspondence and the fact that $\mathbb{F}_p$-isogenies between elliptic curves could be represented by quadratic forms, we show that operations of these isogenies on supersingular elliptic curves over $\mathbb{F}_p$ are compatible with the composition of quadratic forms. Based on these results, we could reduce the security of CSIDH cryptosystem to computing this correspondence explicitly.

Permutation polynomials and their compositional inverses have wide applications in cryptography, coding theory, and combinatorial designs. Motivated by several previous results on finding compositional inverses of permutation polynomials of different forms, we propose a general method for finding these inverses of permutation polynomials constructed by the AGW criterion. As a result, we have reduced the problem of finding the compositional inverse of such a permutation polynomial over a finite field to that of finding the inverse of a bijection over a smaller set. We demonstrate our method by interpreting several recent known results, as well as by providing new explicit results on more classes of permutation polynomials in different types. In addition, we give new criteria for these permutation polynomials being involutions. Explicit constructions are also provided for all involutory criteria.

Planar functions are of great importance in the constructions of DES-like iterated ciphers, error-correcting codes, signal sets and the area of mathematics. They are defined over finite fields of odd characteristic originally and generalized by Y. Zhou \cite{Zhou} in even characteristic. In 2016, L. Qu \cite{Q} proposed a new approach to constructing quadratic planar functions over $\F_{2^n}$. Very recently, D. Bartoli and M. Timpanella \cite{Bartoli} characterized the condition on coefficients $a,b$ such that the function $f_{a,b}(x)=ax^{2^{2m}+1}+bx^{2^m+1} \in\F_{2^{3m}}[x]$ is a planar function over $\F_{2^{3m}}$ by the Hasse-Weil bound.
In this paper, using the Lang-Weil bound, a generalization of the Hasse-Weil bound, and the new approach introduced in \cite{Q}, we completely characterize the necessary and sufficient conditions on coefficients of four classes of planar functions over $\F_{q^k}$, where $q=2^m$ with $m$ sufficiently large (see Theorem \ref{main}). The first and last classes of them are over $\F_{q^2}$ and $\F_{q^4}$ respectively, while the other two classes are over $\F_{q^3}$. One class over $\F_{q^3}$ is an extension of $f_{a,b}(x)$ investigated in \cite{Bartoli}, while our proofs seem to be much simpler. In addition, although the planar binomial over $\F_{q^2}$ of our results is finally a known planar monomial, we also answer the necessity at the same time and solve partially an open problem for the binomial case proposed in \cite{Q}.

In this paper, we present infinite families of permutations of $\mathbb{F}_{2^{2n}}$ with high nonlinearity and boomerang uniformity $4$ from generalized butterfly structures.
Both open and closed butterfly structures are considered. It appears, according to experiment results, that open butterflies do not produce permutation with boomerang uniformity $4$.
For the closed butterflies, we propose the condition on coefficients $α, β\in \mathbb{F}_{2^n}$ such that the functions
$$V_i := (R_i(x,y), R_i(y,x))$$ with $R_i(x,y)=(x+αy)^{2^i+1}+βy^{2^i+1}$ are permutations of $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}^2$ with boomerang uniformity $4$, where $n\geq 1$ is an odd integer and $\gcd(i, n)=1$.
The main result in this paper consists of two major parts: the permutation property of $V_i$ is investigated in terms of the univariate form, and the boomerang uniformity is examined in terms of the original bivariate form. In addition, experiment results for $n=3, 5$ indicates that the proposed condition seems to cover all coefficients $α, β\in \mathbb{F}_{2^n}$ that produce permutations $V_i$ with boomerang uniformity $4$.
However, the experiment result shows that the quadratic permutation $V_i$ seems to be affine equivalent to the Gold function. Therefore, unluckily, we may not to obtain new permutations with boomerang uniformity $4$ from the butterfly structure.

Estimating a constrained relation is a fundamental problem in machine learning. Special cases are classification (the problem of estimating a map from a set of to-be-classified elements to a set of labels), clustering (the problem of estimating an equivalence relation on a set) and ranking (the problem of estimating a linear order on a set). We contribute a family of probability measures on the set of all relations between two finite, non-empty sets, which offers a joint abstraction of multi-label classification, correlation clustering and ranking by linear ordering. Estimating (learning) a maximally probable measure, given (a training set of) related and unrelated pairs, is a convex optimization problem. Estimating (inferring) a maximally probable relation, given a measure, is a 01-linear program. It is solved in linear time for maps. It is NP-hard for equivalence relations and linear orders. Practical solutions for all three cases are shown in experiments with real data. Finally, estimating a maximally probable measure and relation jointly is posed as a mixed-integer nonlinear program. This formulation suggests a mathematical programming approach to semi-supervised learning.
