A third-order finite difference weighted essentially non-oscillatory scheme with shallow neural network
Abstract: In this paper, we introduce the finite difference weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) scheme based on the neural network for hyperbolic conservation laws. We employ the supervised learning and design two loss functions, one with the mean squared error and the other with the mean squared logarithmic error, where the WENO3-JS weights are computed as the labels. Robust dividend policy: Equivalence of Epstein-Zin and Maenhout preferences
Abstract: In a continuous-time economy, this study formulates the Epstein-Zin (EZ) preference for the discounted dividend (or cash payouts) of stockholders as an EZ singular control utility. We show that such a problem is well-defined and equivalent to the robust dividend policy set by the firm's executive in the sense of Maenhout's ambiguity-averse preference. Numerical method for nonlinear Kolmogorov PDEs via sensitivity analysis
Abstract: We examine nonlinear Kolmogorov partial differential equations (PDEs). Our goal is to quantify and compute how sensitive those PDEs are to such a small nonlinearity, and then use t… ▽ More

On intersection forms of definite 4-manifolds bounded by a rational homology 3-sphere
Abstract: We show that, if a rational homology 3-sphere $Y$ bounds a positive definite smooth 4-manifold, then there are finitely many negative definite lattices, up to the stable-equivalence, which can be realized as the intersection form of a smooth 4-manifold bounded by $Y$. To this end, we make use of constraints on definite forms bounded by $Y$ induced from Donaldson's diagonalization theorem, and corr… ▽ More

Schoenberg Representations and Gramian Matrices of Matérn Functions
Abstract: We represent Matérn functions in terms of Schoenberg's integrals which ensure the positive definiteness and prove the systems of translates of Matérn functions form Riesz sequences in $L^2(\R^n)$ or Sobolev spaces. Our approach is based on a new class of integral transforms that generalize Fourier transforms for radial functions. We also consider inverse multi-quadrics and obtain similar results.

Inequalities for the Casorati curvatures of real hypersurfaces in some Grassmannians
Abstract: In this paper we obtain two types of optimal inequalities consisting of the normalized scalar curvature and the generalized normalized $δ$-Casorati curvatures for real hypersurfaces of complex two-plane Grassmannians and complex hyperbolic two-plane Grassmannians. We also find the conditions on which the equalities hold.

An infinite-rank summand of knots with trivial Alexander polynomial
Abstract: We show that there exists a $\mathbb{Z}^\infty$-summand in the subgroup of the knot concordance group generated by knots with trivial Alexander polynomial. To this end we use the invariant Upsilon $Υ$ recently introduced by Ozsváth, Stipsicz and Szabó using knot Floer homology. We partially compute $Υ$ of $(n,1)$-cable of the Whitehead double of the trefoil knot. For this computation of $Υ$, we de… ▽ More

Constructions of subshifts with positive topological entropy dimension
Abstract: The notion of entropy dimension has been introduced to measure the subexponential complexity of zero entropy systems. In this work we present a general construction of a strictly ergodic subshift of topological entropy dimension $α$ for each $α\in (0,1)$. It is shown that the system satisfies some sort of regularity in the size of atoms and the first return time. Moreover, we modify the constructi… ▽ More

H-anti-invariant submersions from almost quaternionic Hermitian manifolds
Abstract: As a generalization of anti-invariant Riemannian submersions and Lagrangian Riemannian submersions, we introduce the notions of h-anti-invariant submersions and h-Lagrangian submersions from almost quaternionic Hermitian manifolds onto Riemannian manifolds. We obtain characterizations and investigate some properties: the integrability of distributions, the geometry of foliations, and the harmonici… ▽ More
