Abstract:
By defining a concept of boundedness for $ \mathbb{Z}_2^n $-superfunction, we show that each local positive definite $ \mathbb{Z}_2^n $-superfunctions, which is bounded in some sense, on a $ \mathbb{Z}_2^n $-Lie supergroup has a positive definite extension to all of the $\mathbb{Z}_{2}^{n}$-Lie supergroup.

In this article, a new deep learning architecture, named JDNN, has been proposed to approximate a numerical solution to Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). The JDNN is capable of solving high-dimensional equations. Here, Jacobi Deep Neural Network (JDNN) has demonstrated various types of telegraph equations. This model utilizes the orthogonal Jacobi polynomials as the activation function to increase the accuracy and stability of the method for solving partial differential equations. The finite difference time discretization technique is used to overcome the computational complexity of the given equation. The proposed scheme utilizes a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to accelerate the learning process by taking advantage of the neural network platforms. Comparing the existing methods, the numerical experiments show that the proposed approach can efficiently learn the dynamics of the physical problem.

In modern sample-driven Prophet Inequality, an adversary chooses a sequence of $n$ items with values $v_1, v_2, \ldots, v_n$ to be presented to a decision maker (DM). The process follows in two phases. In the first phase (sampling phase), some items, possibly selected at random, are revealed to the DM, but she can never accept them. In the second phase, the DM is presented with the other items in a random order and online fashion. For each item, she must make an irrevocable decision to either accept the item and stop the process or reject the item forever and proceed to the next item. The goal of the DM is to maximize the expected value as compared to a Prophet (or offline algorithm) that has access to all information. In this setting, the sampling phase has no cost and is not part of the optimization process. However, in many scenarios, the samples are obtained as part of the decision-making process.
We model this aspect as a two-phase Prophet Inequality where an adversary chooses a sequence of $2n$ items with values $v_1, v_2, \ldots, v_{2n}$ and the items are randomly ordered. Finally, there are two phases of the Prophet Inequality problem with the first $n$-items and the rest of the items, respectively. We show that some basic algorithms achieve a ratio of at most $0.450$. We present an algorithm that achieves a ratio of at least $0.495$. Finally, we show that for every algorithm the ratio it can achieve is at most $0.502$. Hence our algorithm is near-optimal.

Anisotropic diffusion filtering for signal smoothing as a low-pass filter has the advantage of the edge-preserving, i.e., it does not affect the edges that contain more critical data than the other parts of the signal. In this paper, we present a numerical algorithm based on least squares support vector regression by using Legendre orthogonal kernel with the discretization of the nonlinear diffusion problem in time by the Crank-Nicolson method. This method transforms the signal smoothing process into solving an optimization problem that can be solved by efficient numerical algorithms. In the final analysis, we have reported some numerical experiments to show the effectiveness of the proposed machine learning based approach for signal smoothing.

In this paper, we first introduce a new transcendental RBF based on the hyperbolic tangent function as a smooth approximant to f(r)=r with higher accuracy and better convergence properties than the multiquadric. Then Wu-Schaback's quasi-interpolation formula is rewritten using the proposed RBF. It preserves convexity and monotonicity. We prove that the proposed scheme converges with a rate of O(h^2). So it has a higher degree of smoothness. Some numerical experiments are given in order to demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the method.

Quantifying extra functions, herein referred to as outcome functions, over optimal solutions of an optimization problem can provide decision makers with additional information on a system. This bears more importance when the optimization problem is subject to uncertainty in input parameters. In this paper, we consider linear programming problems in which input parameters are described by real-valued intervals, and we address the outcome range problem which is the problem of finding the range of an outcome function over all possible optimal solutions of a linear program with interval data. We give a general definition of the problem and then focus on a special class of it where uncertainty occurs only in the right-hand side of the underlying linear program. We show that our problem is computationally hard to solve and also study some of its theoretical properties. We then develop two approximation methods to solve it: a local search algorithm and a super-set based method. We test the methods on a set of randomly generated instances. We also provide a real case study on healthcare access measurement to show the relevance of our problem for reliable decision making.

We study the class of semi-Levy driven continuous-time GARCH, denoted by SLD-COGARCH, process. The statistical properties of this process are characterized. We show that the state process of such process can be described by a random recurrence equation with the periodic random coeffcients. We establish sufficient conditions for the existence of a strictly periodically stationary solution of the state process which causes the volatility process to be strictly periodically stationary. Furthermore, it is shown that the increments with constant length of such SLD-COGARCH process are themselves a discrete-time periodically correlated (PC) process. We apply some tests to verify the PC behavior of these increments by the simulation studies. Finally, we show that how well this model fits a set of high-frequency financial data.

In this paper we study the simple semi-Lévy driven continuous-time generalized autoregressive conditionally heteroscedastic (SS-COGARCH) process. The statistical properties of this process are characterized. This process has the potential to approximate any semi-Lévy driven COGARCH processes. We show that the state representation of such SS-COGARCH process can be described by a random recurrence equation with periodic random coefficients. The almost sure absolute convergence of the state process is proved. The periodically stationary solution of the state process is shown which cause the volatility to be periodically stationary under some suitable conditions. Also it is shown that the increments with constant length of such SS-COGARCH process is itself a periodically correlated (PC) process. Finally, we apply some test to investigate the PC behavior of the increments (with constant length) of the simulated samples of proposed SS-COGARCH process.

Abstract:
A homogeneous space is a manifold on which a Lie group acts transitively. Super generalization of this concept is also studied in [2] and [4]. In this paper we explicitly show that super Lie group GL(m|n) acts transitively on supergrassmannian G_{k|l}(m|n). In this regard, by using functor of point approach, this action is constructed by gluing local actions.

Security-Constrained Unit Commitment (SCUC) is one of the most significant problems in secure and optimal operation of modern electricity markets. New sources of uncertainties such as wind speed volatility and price-sensitive loads impose additional challenges to this large-scale problem. This paper proposes a new Stochastic SCUC using point estimation method to model the power system uncertainties more efficiently. Conventional scenario-based Stochastic SCUC approaches consider the Mont Carlo method; which presents additional computational burdens to this large-scale problem. In this paper we use point estimation instead of scenario generating to detract computational burdens of the problem. The proposed approach is implemented on a six-bus system and on a modified IEEE 118-bus system with 94 uncertain variables. The efficacy of proposed algorithm is confirmed, especially in the last case with notable reduction in computational burden without considerable loss of precision.
