Counting Divisors in the Outputs of a Binary Quadratic Form
Abstract: For a fixed natural number $h$, we prove meromorphic continuation of the two-variable Dirichlet series $\sum_m r_2(m) σ_w(m + h) (m + h)^{-s + w}$ to $\mathbb{C}^2$ and use this to obtain asymptotics for $\sum_{m^2 + n^2 \leq X} σ_w(m^2 + n^2 + h)$. We approach this continuation through spectral theory. Our results are comparable to earlier work of Bykovskii, who used different methods to study th… ▽ More

Sums of Cusp Form Coefficients Along Quadratic Sequences
Abstract: Let $f(z) = \sum A(n) n^{(k-1)/2} e(nz)$ be a cusp form of weight $k \geq 3$ on $Γ_0(N)$ with character $χ$. By studying a certain shifted convolution sum, we prove that $\sum_{n \leq X} A(n^2+h) = c_{f,h} X + O_{f,h,ε}(X^{\frac{3}{4}+ε})$ for $ε>0$, which improves a result of Blomer from 2008 with error $X^{\frac{6}{7}+ε}$. Arithmetic Progressions of Squares and Multiple Dirichlet Series
Abstract: We study a Dirichlet series in two variables which counts primitive three-term arithmetic progressions of squares. We show that this multiple Dirichlet series has meromorphic continuation to $\mathbb{C}^2$ and use Tauberian methods to obtain counts for arithmetic progressions of squares and rational points on $x^2+y^2=2$.

Quadratic twists of central values for GL(3)
Abstract: We prove that a cuspidal automorphic representation of GL(3) over any number field is determined by the quadratic twists of its central value. In the case of a non-Gelbart-Jacquet lift, the result is conditional on the analytic behavior of a certain Euler product. We deduce the nonvanishing of infinitely many quadratic twists of central values. This generalizes a result of Chinta and Diaconu that… ▽ More

Sums of even ascending powers
Abstract: Freiman and Scourfield proved that any large enough integer can be written as a sum of a certain number of ascending even powers. We use the circle method to provide the first explicit bound on this number, and show that any large enough integer can be written as a sum of 133 ascending even powers.

Triple Correlation Sums of Coefficients of Cusp Forms
Abstract: We produce nontrivial asymptotic estimates for shifted sums of the form $\sum a(h)b(m)c(2m-h)$, in which $a(n),b(n),c(n)$ are un-normalized Fourier coefficients of holomorphic cusp forms. These results are unconditional, but we demonstrate how to strengthen them under the Riemann Hypothesis. As an application, we show that there are infinitely many three term arithmetic progressions $n-h, n, n+h$… ▽ More

A Shifted Sum for the Congruent Number Problem
Abstract: We introduce a shifted convolution sum that is parametrized by the squarefree natural number $t$. The asymptotic growth of this series depends explicitly on whether or not $t$ is a \emph{congruent number}, an integer that is the area of a rational right triangle. This series presents a new avenue of inquiry for The Congruent Number Problem.

The Laplace Transform of the Second Moment in the Gauss Circle Problem
Abstract: The Gauss circle problem concerns the difference $P_2(n)$ between the area of a circle of radius $\sqrt{n}$ and the number of lattice points it contains. In this paper, we study the Dirichlet series with coefficients $P_2(n)^2$, and prove that this series has meromorphic continuation to $\mathbb{C}$. Using this series, we prove that the Laplace transform of $P_2(n)^2$ satisfies… ▽ More

Second Moments in the Generalized Gauss Circle Problem
Abstract: The generalized Gauss circle problem concerns the lattice point discrepancy of large spheres. We study the Dirichlet series associated to $P_k(n)^2$, where $P_k(n)$ is the discrepancy between the volume of the $k$-dimensional sphere of radius $\sqrt{n}$ and the number of integer lattice points contained in that sphere. We prove asymptotics with improved power-saving error terms for smoothed sums,… ▽ More

Sign Changes of Coefficients and Sums of Coefficients of L-Functions
Abstract: We extend the axiomatization for detecting and quantifying sign changes of Meher and Murty to sequences of complex numbers. We further generalize this result when the sequence is comprised of the coefficients of an $L$-function. As immediate applications, we prove that there are sign changes in intervals within sequences of coefficients of GL(2) holomorphic cusp forms, GL(2) Maass forms, and GL(3)… ▽ More

Short-Interval Averages of Sums of Fourier Coefficients of Cusp Forms
Abstract: Let $f$ be a weight $k$ holomorphic cusp form of level one, and let $S_f(n)$ denote the sum of the first $n$ Fourier coefficients of $f$. In analogy with Dirichlet's divisor problem, it is conjectured that $S_f(X) \ll X^{\frac{k-1}{2} + \frac{1}{4} + ε}$. Understanding and bounding $S_f(X)$ has been a very active area of research. The Second Moment of Sums of Coefficients of Cusp Forms
Abstract: Let $f$ and $g$ be weight $k$ holomorphic cusp forms and let $S_f(n)$ and $S_g(n)$ denote the sums of their first $n$ Fourier coefficients. Hybrid Bounds on Twisted L-Functions Associated to Modular Forms
Abstract: For $f$ a primitive holomorphic cusp form of even weight $k \geq 4$, level $N$, and $χ$ a Dirichlet character mod $Q$ with $(Q,N)=1$, we establish a new hybrid subconvexity bound for $L(1/2 + it, f_χ)$, which improves upon all known hybrid bounds. Counting Square Discriminants
Abstract: Counting integral binary quadratic forms with certain restrictions is a classical problem. In this paper, we count binary quadratic forms of fixed discriminant given restrictions on the size of their coefficients. We accomplish this by investigating the analytic properties of a certain double Dirichlet series, which is a shifted convolution sum of certain classical automorphic forms.

The Sign of Fourier Coefficients of Half-Integral Weight Cusp Forms
Abstract: From a result of Waldspurger, it is known that the normalized Fourier coefficients $a(m)$ of a half-integral weight holomorphic cusp eigenform $\f$ are, up to a finite set of factors, one of $\pm \sqrt{L(1/2, f, χ_m)}$ when $m$ is square-free and $f$ is the integral weight cusp form related to $\f$ by the Shimura correspondence.
