As a byproduct of our argument, we show that $\mathrm{Aut}(X)/\mathrm{Aut}^0(X)$ is a finite group for any projective GKM manifold $X$.

Partitioned neural network functions are used to approximate the solution of partial differential equations. The problem domain is partitioned into non-overlap** subdomains and the partitioned neural network functions are defined on the given non-overlap** subdomains. Each neural network function then approximates the solution in each subdomain. To obtain the convergent neural network solution, certain continuity conditions on the partitioned neural network functions across the subdomain interface need to be included in the loss function, that is used to train the parameters in the neural network functions. In our work, by introducing suitable interface values, the loss function is reformulated into a sum of localized loss functions and each localized loss function is used to train the corresponding local neural network parameters. In addition, to accelerate the neural network solution convergence, the localized loss function is enriched with an augmented Lagrangian term, where the interface condition and the boundary condition are enforced as constraints on the local solutions by using Lagrange multipliers. The local neural network parameters and Lagrange multipliers are then found by optimizing the localized loss function. To take the advantage of the localized loss function for the parallel computation, an iterative algorithm is also proposed. For the proposed algorithms, their training performance and convergence are numerically studied for various test examples.

In this paper, neural network approximation methods are developed for elliptic partial differential equations with multi-frequency solutions. Neural network work approximation methods have advantages over classical approaches in that they can be applied without much concerns on the form of the differential equations or the shape or dimension of the problem domain. When applied to problems with multi-frequency solutions, the performance and accuracy of neural network approximation methods are strongly affected by the contrast of the high- and low-frequency parts in the solutions. To address this issue, domain scaling and residual correction methods are proposed. The efficiency and accuracy of the proposed methods are demonstrated for multi-frequency model problems.

In dimension 4, we extend the correspondence between compact nonsingular toric varieties and regular fans to a correspondence between almost complex torus manifolds and families of multi-fans in a geometric way, where an (almost) complex torus manifold is a $2n$-dimensional compact connected (almost) complex manifold equipped with an effective action of a real $n$-dimensional torus $T^n$ that has fixed points.
Let $M$ be a 4-dimensional almost complex torus manifold. To $M$, we associate two equivalent combinatorial objects, a family $Δ$ of multi-fans and a graph $Γ$, which encode the data on the fixed point set. We find a necessary and sufficient condition for each of $Δ$ and $Γ$.
Moreover, we provide a minimal model and operations for each of $Δ$ and $Γ$. We introduce operations on a multi-fan and a graph that correspond to blow up and down of a manifold, and show that we can blow up and down $M$ to a minimal manifold $M'$ whose weights at the fixed points are unit vectors in $\mathbb{Z}^2$, $Δ$ to a family of minimal multi-fans that has unit vectors only, and $Γ$ to a minimal graph whose edges all have unit vectors as labels.
As an application, if $M$ is complex, $Δ$ is a fan and determines $M$, $Γ$ encodes the equivariant cohomology of $M$, and $M'$ is $\mathbb{CP}^1 \times \mathbb{CP}^1$. This implies that any two 4-dimensional complex torus manifolds are obtained from each other by equivariant blow up and down.

Future launches are projected to significantly increase both the number of active satellites and aggregate collision risk in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). In this paper, a dynamical systems theory approach is used to analyze the effect of launch rate distribution on the stability of the LEO environment. A multi-shell, three-species source-sink model of the LEO environment, referred to as MOCAT-3 for MIT Orbital Capacity Assessment Tool 3 Species, is used to study the evolution of the species populations. The three species included in the model are active satellites, derelict satellites, and debris. The model's coefficients represent atmospheric drag, collision rate, mean satellite lifetime, post-mission disposal probability, and active debris removal rate. Solutions of the system of differential equations are computed, and an analysis of the stability of the equilibrium points is conducted for numerous launch rate distributions. The stability of the equilibrium points is used to test the sensitivity of the environment to run-away debris growth, known as Kessler syndrome, that occurs at the instability threshold. An analysis of the environment's response to perturbations in launch rate and debris population is conducted. The maximum perturbation in the debris population from the equilibrium state, for which the system remains in a stable configuration, is calculated. Plots of the phase space about the equilibrium points are generated. The results will help to better understand the orbital capacity of LEO and the stability of the space environment, as well as provide improved guidelines on future launch plans to avoid detrimental congestion of LEO.

Theorem 3.1 gives an closed expression for the probability mass function (PMF) of the Type4 $q$-binomial distribution of order $k$. Theorem 3.2 and Corollary 3.1 gives an recursive expression for the probability mass function (PMF) of the Type4 $q$-binomial distribution of order $k$. The probability generating function and moments of random variable $E_{n,k}$ are obtained as a recursive expression. We address the parameter estimation in the distribution of $E_{n,k}$ by numerical techniques. In the present work, we consider a sequence of independent binary zero and one trials with not necessarily identical distribution with the probability of ones varying according to a geometric rule. Exact and recursive formulae for the distribution obtained by means of enumerative combinatorics.

In particular, this classifies the fixed point data of any such manifold. We prove this by showing that for any such manifold, we can successively take equivariant connected sums at fixed points with itself, $\mathbb{CP}^3$, and 6-dimensional analogue $Z_1$ and $Z_2$ of the Hirzebruch surfaces (and these with opposite orientations) to a fixed point free action on a compact oriented 6-manifold. Let a $k$-dimensional torus $T^k$ act on a $2n$-dimensional compact connected almost complex manifold $M$ with isolated fixed points. As for circle actions, we show that there exists a (directed labeled) multigraph that encodes weights at the fixed points of $M$. This includes the notion of a GKM graph as a special case that weights at each fixed point are pairwise linearly independent. If in addition $k=n$, i.e., $M$ is an almost complex torus manifold, the multigraph is a graph; it has no multiple edges. We show that the Hirzebruch $χ_y$-genus $χ_y(M)=\sum_{i=0}^n a_i(M) \cdot (-y)^i$ of an almost complex torus manifold $M$ satisfies $a_i(M) > 0$ for $0 \leq i \leq n$. In particular, the Todd genus of $M$ is positive and there are at least $n+1$ fixed points. Petrie's conjecture asserts that if a homotopy $\mathbb{CP}^n$ admits a non-trivial circle action, its Pontryagin class agrees with that of $\mathbb{CP}^n$. Petrie proved this conjecture if instead it admits a $T^n$-action. We prove that if a $2n$-dimensional almost complex torus manifold $M$ only shares the Euler number with the complex projective space $\mathbb{CP}^n$, an associated graph agrees with that of a linear $T^n$-action on $\mathbb{CP}^n$; consequently $M$ has the same weights at the fixed points, Chern numbers, equivariant cobordism class, Hirzebruch $χ_y$-genus, Todd genus, and signature as $\mathbb{CP}^n$. If furthermore $M$ is equivariantly formal, the equivariant cohomology and the Chern classes of $M$ and $\mathbb{CP}^n$ also agree.

We achieve this by demonstrating that pairs of integers that arise as weights of a circle action, also arise as weights of a restriction of a $\mathbb{T}^2$-action. Symplectic circle actions with isolated fixed points
Authors:

Abstract:
Consider a symplectic circle action on a closed symplectic manifold with non-empty isolated fixed points. Associated to each fixed point, there are well-defined non-zero integers, called weights. We prove that the action is Hamiltonian if the sum of an odd number of weights is never equal to zero (the weights may be taken at different fixed points). Moreover, we show that if $\dim M=6$, or if…

Moreover, we show that if $\dim M=6$, or if $\dim M=2n \leq 10$ and each fixed point has weights $\{\pm a_1, \cdots, \pm a_n\}$ for some positive integers $a_i$, it is enough to consider the sum of three weights. As applications, we recover the results for semi-free actions, and for certain circle actions on six-dimensional manifolds.

Abstract:
Consider a Hamiltonian circle action on a closed $8$-dimensional symplectic manifold $M$ with exactly five fixed points, which is the smallest possible fixed set. In their paper, L. Godinho and S. Sabatini show that if $M$ satisfies an extra "positivity condition" then the isotropy weights at the fixed points of $M$ agree with those of some linear action on $\mathbb{CP}^4$. Therefore, the (equivar…

Therefore, the (equivariant) cohomology rings and the (equivariant) Chern classes of $M$ and $\mathbb{CP}^4$ agree; in particular, $H^*(M;\mathbb{Z}) \simeq \mathbb{Z}[y]/y^5$ and $c(TM) = (1+y)^5$. In this paper, we prove that this positivity condition always holds for these manifolds. This completes the proof of the "symplectic Petrie conjecture" for Hamiltonian circle actions on on 8-dimensional closed symplectic manifolds with minimal fixed sets.

Abstract:
This paper presents a solution procedure of search parameter optimization for minimum load ensuring desired one-off and cumulative probabilities of detection in a multifunction phased array radar. The key approach is to convert this nonlinear optimization on four search parameters into a scalar optimization on signal-to-noise ratio by a semi-analytic process based on subproblem decomposition. The efficacy of the proposed solution approach is verified with theoretical analysis and numerical case studies.

Kossovsky recently conjectured that the distribution of leading digits of a chain of probability distributions converges to Benford's law as the length of the chain grows. We prove his conjecture in many cases, and provide an interpretation in terms of products of independent random variables and a central limit theorem. An interesting consequence is that in hierarchical Bayesian models priors tend to satisfy Benford's Law as the number of levels of the hierarchy increases, which allows us to develop some simple tests (based on Benford's law) to test proposed models. We give explicit formulas for the error terms as sums of Mellin transforms, which converges extremely rapidly as the number of terms in the chain grows. We may interpret our results as showing that certain Markov chain Monte Carlo processes are rapidly mixing to Benford's law.
