Abstract:
In this paper we study the well-posedness of the evolution equation of the form $u'(t)=Au(t)+Cu(t)$, $t\ge 0$, where $A$ is the generator of a $C_0$- semigroup and $C$ is a (possibly unbounded) linear operator in a Banach space $\mathbb{X}$. Our approach is to use the Hille-Yosida Theorem. Discussions on the persistence of asymptotic behavior of the perturbed equations such as the roughness of exponential dichotomy are also given. The obtained results seem to be new.

The paper considers the generalization of the method proposed by I.B. Furtat, P.A. Gushchin in "Automation and Remote Control", 2021, No. 4 for systems with an arbitrary ratio of the number of input and output signals and with a guarantee of their being in a given set. To solve the problem, two coordinate changes are proposed. The first coordinate change reduces the output variable of the system to a new variable which dimension does not exceed the control dimension. The second coordinate change allows one to pass from a constrained control problem to an unconstrained one. In order to illustrate the efficiency of the method, the solution of two problems is considered. The first task is state feedback control of linear systems, taking into account the constraints on the control signal and phase variables. The second task is output feedback control of linear systems with a restriction on output and control. In both problems, checking the stability of the closed-loop system is formulated in terms of the solvability of linear matrix inequalities. The obtained results are accompanied by examples of modeling that illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

We consider asymptotically exact inference on the leading canonical correlation directions and strengths between two high dimensional vectors under sparsity restrictions. In this regard, our main contribution is the development of a loss function, based on which, one can operationalize a one-step bias-correction on reasonable initial estimators. Our analytic results in this regard are adaptive over suitable structural restrictions of the high dimensional nuisance parameters, which, in this set-up, correspond to the covariance matrices of the variables of interest. We further supplement the theoretical guarantees behind our procedures with extensive numerical studies.

We apply this spectral theory to study the asymptotic behavior of solutions of fractional difference equations of the form $Δ^αx(n)=Tx(n)+y(n)$, $n\in \mathbb{N}$, where $0<α\le 1$. One of the obtained results is an extension of a famous Katznelson-Tzafriri Theorem, saying that if the $α$-resolvent operator $S_α$ satisfies $\sup_{n\in\mathbb{N}} \| S_α(n)\| /n^ν<\infty$ and for all $z_0\in \{z\in \mathbb{C}: \ |z|=1\}$, but $z_0=1$, the complex function $(z^{1-α}(z-1)^α-T)^{-1}$ \ exists and is holomorphic in a neighborhood of $z_0$, then \begin{align*} \lim_{n\to \infty} \frac{1}{n^ν} \sum_{k=0}^{ν+1} \frac{(ν+1)!}{k!(ν+1-k)!} (-1)^{ν+1+k} S_α(n+k) =0. \end{align*} Three concrete examples are also included to illustrate the obtained results.

In this article, we present a cost-benefit analysis of the approximation in tensor products of Hilbert spaces of Sobolev-analytic type. The Sobolev part is defined on a finite dimensional domain, whereas the analytical space is defined on an infinite dimensional domain. As main mathematical tool, we use the $\varepsilon$-dimension of a subset in a Hilbert space. The $\varepsilon$-dimension gives the lowest number of linear information that is needed to approximate an element from the set in the norm of the Hilbert space up to an accuracy $\varepsilon>0$. From a practical point of view this means that we a priori fix an accuracy and ask for the amount of information to achieve this accuracy. Such an analysis usually requires sharp estimates on the cardinality of certain index sets which are in our case infinite-dimensional hyperbolic crosses. As main result, we obtain sharp bounds of the $\varepsilon$-dimension of the Sobolev-analytic-type function classes which depend only on the smoothness differences in the Sobolev spaces and the dimension of the finite dimensional domain where these spaces are defined. This implies in particular that, up to constants, the costs of the infinite dimensional (analytical) approximation problem is dominated by the finite-variate Sobolev approximation problem. We demonstrate this procedure with an examples of functions spaces stemming from the regularity theory of parametric partial differential equation.
