Abstract:
In the following text we compute the adjoint of weighted generalized shift operators over Hilbert spaces. Let $\mathcal{M}$ be a Banach bimodule over an associative Banach algebra $\mathcal{A}$, and let $F: \mathcal{A}\to \mathcal{M}$ be a linear map**. Three main uses of the term \emph{generalized derivation} are identified in the available literature, namely,
($\checkmark$) $F$ is a generalized derivation of the first type if there exists a derivation $ d : \mathcal{A}\to \mathcal{M}$ satisfying $F(a b ) = F(a) b + a d(b)$ for all $a,b\in \mathcal{A}$.
($\checkmark$) $F$ is a generalized derivation of the second type if there exists an element $ξ\in \mathcal{M}^{**}$ satisfying $F(a b ) = F(a) b + a F(b) - a ξb$ for all $a,b\in \mathcal{A}$.
($\checkmark$) $F$ is a generalized derivation of the third type if there exist two (non-necessarily linear) map**s $G,H : \mathcal{A}\to \mathcal{M}$ satisfying $F(a b ) = G(a) b + a H(b)$ for all $a,b\in \mathcal{A}$.
There are examples showing that these three definitions are not, in general, equivalent. Despite that the first two notions are well studied when $\mathcal{A}$ is a C$^*$-algebra, it is not known if the three notions are equivalent under these special assumptions. In this note we prove that every generalized derivation of the third type whose domain is a C$^*$-algebra is automatically continuous. We also prove that every (continuous) generalized derivation of the third type from a C$^*$-algebra $\mathcal{A}$ into a general Banach $\mathcal{A}$-bimodule is a generalized derivation of the first and second type. In particular, the three notions coincide in this case. We also explore the possible notions of generalized Jordan derivations on a C$^*$-algebra and establish some continuity properties for them.

Abstract:
A nonempty graph G is called generalized 3-distance-balanced, (3-GDB) whenever for every edge ab, |Wab|=3|Wba| or conversely. As well as a graph G is called generalized 3-nicely distance-balanced (3-GNDB) whenever for every edge ab of G, there exists a positive integer g, such that: |Wba|=gG. In this paper, we classify 3-GNDB graphs with, gG \in{1,2}.

The main purpose of this article is to show that every commuting Jordan derivation on triangular rings (unital or not) is identically zero. Using this result, we prove that if $\mathcal{A}$ is a 2-torsion free ring such that it is either semiprime or satisfies Condition (P), then every commuting Jordan derivation from $\mathcal{A}$ into itself, under certain conditions, is identically zero.

Our paper introduces a novel method for calculating the inverse $\mathcal{Z}$-transform of rational functions. Unlike some existing approaches that rely on partial fraction expansion and involve dividing by $z$, our method allows for the direct computation of the inverse $\mathcal{Z}$-transform without such division. Furthermore, our method expands the rational functions over real numbers instead of complex numbers. Hence, it doesn't need algebraic manipulations to obtain a real-valued answer. Furthermore, it aligns our method more closely with established techniques used in integral, Laplace, and Fourier transforms. In addition, it can lead to fewer calculations in some cases.

We establish similar results for directed graphs. While exposing several reasons for conjecturing that the exponent $\tfrac{1}{4}g$ in this lower bound cannot be improved to $(\tfrac{1}{4}+\varepsilon)g$, we are also able to prove that it cannot be increased beyond $\frac{3}{8}g$. This is established by considering a certain family of Ramanujan graphs. Inspired by the first-order method of Malitsky and Pock, we propose a new variational framework for compressed MR image reconstruction which introduces the application of a rotation-invariant discretization of total variation functional into MR imaging while exploiting BM3D frame as a sparsifying transform. In the first step, we provide theoretical and numerical analysis establishing the exceptional rotation-invariance property of this total variation functional and observe its superiority over other well-known variational regularization terms in both upright and rotated imaging setups. Thereupon, the proposed MRI reconstruction model is presented as a constrained optimization problem, however, we do not use conventional ADMM-type algorithms designed for constrained problems to obtain a solution, but rather we tailor the linesearch-equipped method of Malitsky and Pock to our model, which was originally proposed for unconstrained problems. As attested by numerical experiments, this framework significantly outperforms various state-of-the-art algorithms from variational methods to adaptive and learning approaches and in particular, it eliminates the stagnating behavior of a previous work on BM3D-MRI which compromised the solution beyond a certain iteration.

Arboricity is a graph parameter akin to chromatic number, in that it seeks to partition the vertices into the smallest number of sparse subgraphs. Where for the chromatic number we are partitioning the vertices into independent sets, for the arboricity we want to partition the vertices into cycle-free subsets (i.e., forests). Arboricity is NP-hard in general, and our focus is on the arboricity of cographs. For arboricity two, we obtain the complete list of minimal cograph obstructions. These minimal obstructions do generalize to higher arboricities; however, we no longer have a complete list, and in fact, the number of minimal cograph obstructions grows exponentially with arboricity. We obtain bounds on their size and the height of their cotrees.
More generally, we consider the following common generalization of colouring and partition into forests: given non-negative integers $p$ and $q$, we ask if a given cograph $G$ admits a vertex partition into $p$ forests and $q$ independent sets. We give a polynomial-time dynamic programming algorithm for this problem. In fact, the algorithm solves a more general problem which also includes several other problems such as finding a maximum $q$-colourable subgraph, maximum subgraph of arboricity-$p$, minimum vertex feedback set and minimum $q$ of a $q$-colourable vertex feedback set.

Using this result, we prove that every Jordan higher {g_n, h_n}-derivation on a semiprime algebra is a higher {g_n, h_n}-derivation.

Abstract:
The game of cops and robbers is a well-known game played on graphs. In this paper we consider the straight-ahead orientations of 4-regular quadrangulations of the torus and the Klein bottle and we prove that their cop number is bounded by a constant. We also show that the cop number of every k-regularly oriented toroidal grid is at most 13.

Abstract:
In this article, using generalized derivations, we obtain a simple idea to prove the non-commutative Newton binomial formula in unital algebras and then, we extend that formula to non-unital algebras. Additionally, we establish the non-commutative Newton binomial formula with a negative power.

The game of cops and robbers is a pursuit game on graphs where a set of agents, called the cops try to get to the same position of another agent, called the robber. Cops and robbers has been studies on several classes of graphs including geometrically represented graphs. For example, it has been shown that string graphs, including geometric graphs, have cop number at most 15. On the other hand, little is known about geometric graphs of any cop number less than 15 and there is only one example of a geometric graph of cop number three that has as many as 1440 vertices. In this paper we present a construction for subdividing planar graphs of maximum degree $\le 5$ into geometric planar graphs of at least the same cop number. Indeed, our construction shows that there are infinitely many planar geometric graphs of cop number three. We also present another construction that consists in clique substitutions alongside subdividing the edges in a planar graph of maximum degree $\le 9$, resulting in geometric, but not necessarily planar, graphs of at least the same cop number as the starting graphs.

The atom-bond connectivity (ABC) index is a degree-based molecular descriptor that found diverse chemical applications. Characterizing trees with minimum ABC-index remained an elusive open problem even after serious attempts and is considered by some as one of the most intriguing open problems in mathematical chemistry. In this paper, we describe the exact structure of the extremal trees with sufficiently many vertices and we show how their structure evolves when the number of vertices grows. An interesting fact is that their radius is at most~$5$ and that all vertices except for one have degree at most 54. In fact, all but at most $O(1)$ vertices have degree 1, 2, 4, or 53. Let $γ_n = \min\{\abc(T) : T \text{ is a tree of order } n\}$. It is shown that $γ_n = \tfrac{1}{365} \sqrt{\tfrac{1}{53}} \Bigl(1 + 26\sqrt{55} + 156\sqrt{106} \Bigr) n + O(1) \approx 0.67737178\, n + O(1)$.

In this paper, a new regularization term is proposed to solve mathematical image problems. By using difference operators in the four directions; horizontal, vertical and two diagonal directions, an estimation of derivative amplitude is found. Based on the new obtained estimation, a new regularization term will be defined, which can be viewed as a new discretized total variation (TVprn) model. By improving TVprn, a more effective regularization term is introduced. By finding conjugate of TVprn and producing vector fields with special constraints, a new discretized TV for two dimensional discrete functions is proposed (TVnew). The capability of the new TV model to solve mathematical image problems is examined in some numerical experiments. It is shown that the new proposed TV model can reconstruct the edges and corners of the noisy images better than other TVs. Moreover, two test experiments of resolution enhancement problem are solved and compared with some other different TVs.

Hence the class of all densely chaotic generalized shifts on $X^Γ$ is intermediate between the class of all Devaney chaotic generalized shifts on $X^Γ$ and the class of all Li-Yorke chaotic generalized shifts on $X^Γ$. In addition, these inclusions are proper for infinite countable $Γ$.
Moreover we prove $(X^Γ,σ_\varphi)$ is Li-Yorke sensitive (resp. sensitive, strongly sensitive, asymptotic sensitive, syndetically sensitive, cofinitely sensitive, multi-sensitive, ergodically sensitive, spatiotemporally chaotic, Li-Yorke chaotic) if and only if $\varphi:Γ\toΓ$ has at least one non-quasi-periodic point.

We propose a swarm-based optimization algorithm inspired by air currents of a tornado. Two main air currents - spiral and updraft - are mimicked. Spiral motion is designed for exploration of new search areas and updraft movements is deployed for exploitation of a promising candidate solution. Assignment of just one search direction to each particle at each iteration, leads to low computational complexity of the proposed algorithm respect to the conventional algorithms. Regardless of the step size parameters, the only parameter of the proposed algorithm, called tornado diameter, can be efficiently adjusted by randomization. Numerical results over six different benchmark cost functions indicate comparable and, in some cases, better performance of the proposed algorithm respect to some other metaheuristics.

This conjecture has roots in information theory and became known as the Normal Graph Conjecture. Here we prove that all graphs of bounded maximum degree and sufficiently large odd girth (linear in the maximum degree) are normal. This implies that for every fixed $d$, random $d$-regular graphs are a.a.s. normal.

We give many examples showing that the generalized shifts provide a very useful universal tool for producing counter-examples.
