Let $Ψ$ be an endomorphism of a nilmanifold $M = N/Γ$. We show that the preimages of a point under $Ψ$ become dense exponentially if and only if $Ψ$ is totally non-invertible, which means $(M, Ψ)$ has no invertible factors of quotients of factors. As an application, let $f$ be a non-invertible Anosov covering map on $M$ with one-dimensional stable bundle, if $f$ has such linear part $Ψ$ and is topologically conjugate to $Ψ$, then every periodic point of $f$ admits the same stable Lyapunov exponent with $Ψ$, and hence the conjugacy is automatically smooth along each stable leaf. Conversely, if $Ψ$ is horizontally irreducible, which means the induced horizontal toral endomorphism is irreducible, then $f$ admitting a constant periodic stable Lyapunov exponent implies that there exists a topological conjugacy to $Ψ$.
In summary, for an Anosov covering map on a nilmanifold with one-dimensional stable bundle and totally non-invertible, horizontally irreducible linear part, we get the equivalence among the existence of invariant unstable bundle, the existence of topological conjugacy to linear part, and a constant periodic stable Lyapunov exponent.

Let $f$ be a non-invertible partially hyperbolic endomorphism on $\mathbb{T}^2$ which is derived from a non-expanding Anosov endomorphism. Differing from the case of diffeomorphisms derived from Anosov automorphisms, there is no a priori semi-conjugacy between $f$ and its linearization on $\mathbb{T}^2$. We show that $f$ is semi-conjugate to its linearization if and only if $f$ admits the partially hyperbolic splitting with two $Df$-invariant subbundles.
Moreover, if we assume that $f$ has the unstable subbundle, then the semi-conjugacy is exactly a topological conjugacy, and the center Lyapunov exponents of periodic points of $f$ coincide and equal to the stable Lyapunov exponent of its linearization. In particular, $f$ is an Anosov endomorphism and the conjugacy is smooth along the stable foliation.
For the case that $f$ has the stable subbundle, there is still some rigidity on its stable Lyapunov exponents. However, we also give examples which admit the partially hyperbolic splitting with the center subbundle but the semi-conjugacy is indeed non-injective.
Finally, We present some applications for the conservative case. In particular, we show that if $f$ is volume-preserving and semi-conjugate to its linear part, then the semi-conjugacy is actually a smooth conjugacy.

Let $c_i(n,F)$ be the largest minimum $i$-degree among all $n$-vertex $k$-uniform hypergraphs that have no $F$-covering. In this paper, we consider the $F$-covering problem in $3$-uniform hypergraphs when $F$ is the generalized triangle $T$, where $T$ is a $3$-uniform hypergraph with the vertex set $\{v_1,v_2,v_3,v_4,v_5\}$ and the edge set $\{\{v_{1}v_{2}v_{3}\},\{v_{1}v_{2}v_{4}\},\{v_{3}v_{4}v_{5}\}\}$. We give the exact value of $c_2(n,T)$ and asymptotically determine $c_1(n,T)$. We also consider the $F$-covering problem in $3$-uniform hypergraphs when $F$ are some trees, such as the linear $k$-path $P_k$ and the star $S_k$. Especially, we provide bounds of $c_i(n,P_k)$ and $c_i(n,S_k)$ for $k\geq 3$, where $i=1,2$.

The problem of determining the maximum product of the edge multiplicities in $(n,s,q)$-graphs was posed by Mubayi and Terry in 2019. Recently, Day, Falgas-Ravry and Treglown settled a conjecture of Mubayi and Terry on the case $(s,q)=(4, 6a + 3)$ of the problem (for $a \ge 2$), and they gave a general lower bound construction for the extremal problem for many pairs $(s, q)$, which they conjectured is asymptotically best possible. Their conjecture was confirmed exactly or asymptotically for some specific cases. In this paper, we consider the case that $(s,q)=(5,\binom{5}{2}a+4)$ and $d=2$ of their conjecture, partially solve an open problem raised by Day, Falgas-Ravry and Treglown. We also show that the conjecture fails for $n=6$, which indicates for the case that $(s,q)=(5,\binom{5}{2}a+4)$ and $d=2$, $n$ needs to be sufficiently large for the conjecture to hold.

To guarantee the finite step convergence, the existing active set methods all need strict conditions or some additional strategies, which greatly affect the efficiency of the algorithm. In this paper, we propose a random active set method which introduces randomness in the update of active set. We prove that it can converge in finite iterations with probability one without any conditions on the problem or any additional strategies. Numerical results show that the algorithm obtains the correct active set within a few iterations, and compared with the existing methods, it has better robustness and efficiency.

In this article, we study algorithms for nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) in various applications involving streaming data. Utilizing the continual nature of the data, we develop a fast two-stage algorithm for highly efficient and accurate NMF. In the first stage, an alternating non-negative least squares (ANLS) framework is used, in combination with active set method with warm-start strategy for the solution of subproblems. In the second stage, an interior point method is adopted to accelerate the local convergence. The convergence of the proposed algorithm is proved. The new algorithm is compared with some existing algorithms in benchmark tests using both real-world data and synthetic data. The results demonstrate the advantage of our algorithm in finding high-precision solutions.

The semi-proper orientation number of a graph $G$, denoted by $\overrightarrowχ_s(G)$, is the minimum of maximum in-weight of $v$ in $D$ over all semi-proper orientation $(D,w)$ of $G$. This parameter was first introduced by Dehghan (2019). When the weights of all edges eqaul to one, this parameter is equal to the proper orientation number of $G$. The optimal semi-proper orientation is a semi-proper orientation $(D,w)$ such that $\max_{v\in V(G)}w_D^-(v)=\overrightarrowχ_s(G)$.
Araújo et al. (2016) showed that $\overrightarrowχ(G)\le 7$ for every cactus $G$ and the bound is tight. We prove that for every cactus $G$, $\overrightarrowχ_s(G) \le 3$ and the bound is tight. Araújo et al. (2015) asked whether there is a constant $c$ such that $\overrightarrowχ(G)\le c$ for all outerplanar graphs $G.$ While this problem remains open, we consider it in the weighted case. We prove that for every outerplanar graph $G,$ $\overrightarrowχ_s(G)\le 4$ and the bound is tight.

The conflict-free connection number of a connected graph $G$, denoted by $cfc(G)$, is the smallest number of colors needed in order to make $G$ conflict-free connected. In this paper, we show that almost all graphs have the conflict-free connection number 2. More precisely, let $G(n,p)$ denote the Erdős-Rényi random graph model, in which each of the $\binom{n}{2}$ pairs of vertices appears as an edge with probability $p$ independent from other pairs. We prove that for sufficiently large $n$, $cfc(G(n,p))\le 2$ if $p\ge\frac{\log n +α(n)}{n}$, where $α(n)\rightarrow \infty$. This means that as soon as $G(n,p)$ becomes connected with high probability, $cfc(G(n,p))\le 2$.

Consider reconstructing a signal $x$ by minimizing a weighted sum of a convex differentiable negative log-likelihood (NLL) (data-fidelity) term and a convex regularization term that imposes a convex-set constraint on $x$ and enforces its sparsity using $\ell_1$-norm analysis regularization. We compute upper bounds on the regularization tuning constant beyond which the regularization term overwhelmingly dominates the NLL term so that the set of minimum points of the objective function does not change. Necessary and sufficient conditions for irrelevance of sparse signal regularization and a condition for the existence of finite upper bounds are established. We formulate an optimization problem for finding these bounds when the regularization term can be globally minimized by a feasible $x$ and also develop an alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) type method for their computation. Simulation examples show that the derived and empirical bounds match.

For a connected graph $G$, the proper connection number $pc(G)$ of $G$ is defined as the minimum number of colors needed to color its edges, so that every pair of distinct vertices of $G$ is connected by at least one proper path in $G$. In this paper, we show that almost all graphs have the proper connection number 2. More precisely, let $G(n,p)$ denote the Erdös-Rényi random graph model, in which each of the $\binom{n}{2}$ pairs of vertices appears as an edge with probability $p$ independent from other pairs. We prove that for sufficiently large $n$, $pc(G(n,p))\le2$ if $p\ge\frac{\log n +α(n)}{n}$, where $α(n)\rightarrow \infty$.

An edge-coloring of a connected graph $G$ is called a {\it monochromatic connection coloring} (MC-coloring, for short), introduced by Caro and Yuster, if there is a monochromatic path joining any two vertices of the graph $G$. Let $mc(G)$ denote the maximum number of colors used in an MC-coloring of a graph $G$. Note that an MC-coloring does not exist if $G$ is not connected, and in this case we simply let $mc(G)=0$. We use $G(n,p)$ to denote the Erdös-Rényi random graph model, in which each of the $\binom{n}{2}$ pairs of vertices appears as an edge with probability $p$ independently from other pairs. For any function $f(n)$ satisfying $1\leq f(n)<\frac{1}{2}n(n-1)$, we show that if $\ell n \log n\leq f(n)<\frac{1}{2}n(n-1)$ where $\ell\in \mathbb{R}^+$, then $p=\frac{f(n)+n\log\log n}{n^2}$ is a sharp threshold function for the property $mc\left(G\left(n,p\right)\right)\ge f(n)$; if $f(n)=o(n\log n)$, then $p=\frac{\log n}{n}$ is a sharp threshold function for the property $mc\left(G\left(n,p\right)\right)\ge f(n)$.

DeMarco and Kahn proved this for $p>K \sqrt{\log n/n}$ for some constant $K$, and apart from the value of the constant, this bound is the best possible. Denote by $T_3$ the 3-uniform hypergraph with vertex set $\{a,b,c,d,e\}$ and edge set $\{abc,ade,bde\}$. Frankl and Füredi showed that the maximum 3-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices containing no copy of $T_3$ is tripartite for $n> 3000$. For some integer $k$, let $G^k(n,p)$ be the random $k$-uniform hypergraph. Balogh et al. proved that for $p>K \log n/n$ for some constant $K$, every maximum $T_3$-free subhypergraph of $G^3(n,p)$ w.h.p. is tripartite and it does not hold when $p=0.1 \sqrt{\log n}/n$. Denote by $T_4$ the 4-uniform hypergraph with vertex set $\{1,2,3,4,5,6,7\}$ and edge set $\{1234,1235,4567\}$. Pikhurko proved that there is an $n_0$ such that for all $n\ge n_0$, the maximum 4-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices containing no copy of $T_4$ is 4-partite. In this paper, we extend this type of extremal problem in random 4-uniform hypergraphs. We show that for some constant $K$ and $p>K \log n/n$, w.h.p. every maximum $T_4$-free subhypergraph of $G^4(n,p)$ is 4-partite.

In this paper, we define a weighted skew adjacency matrix with Randć weight, the skew Randić matrix ${\bf R_S}(G^σ)$, of $G^σ$ as the real skew symmetric matrix $[(r_s)_{ij}]$ where $(r_s)_{ij} = (d_id_j)^{-\frac{1}{2}}$ and $(r_s)_{ji} = -(d_id_j)^{-\frac{1}{2}}$ if $v_i \rightarrow v_j$ is an arc of $G^σ$, otherwise $(r_s)_{ij} = (r_s)_{ji} = 0$. We derive some properties of the skew Randić energy of an oriented graph. Most properties are similar to those for the skew energy of oriented graphs. But, surprisingly, the extremal oriented graphs with maximum or minimum skew Randić energy are completely different.

Naturally, the Randić incidence energy $I_RE$ of $G$ is the sum of the singular values of $I_R(G)$. We establish lower and upper bounds for the Randić incidence energy. Graphs for which these bounds are best possible are characterized. Moreover, we investigate the relation between the Randić incidence energy of a graph and that of its subgraphs. Also we give a sharp upper bound for the Randić incidence energy of a bipartite graph and determine the trees with the maximum Randić incidence energy among all $n$-vertex trees. As a result, some results are very different from those for incidence energy.

It follows from a theorem of Erdős, Stone and Simonovits that every $α\in [0,1)$ is a jump for $r=2$. Erdős asked whether the same is true for $r \geq 3$. However, Frankl and Rödl gave a negative answer by showing that $1-\frac{1}{\ell^{r-1}}$ is not a jump for $r$ if $r \geq 3$ and $\ell >2r$. Peng gave more sequences of non-jum** numbers for $r=4$ and $r\geq 3$. However, there are also a lot of unknowns on determining whether a number is a jump for $r \geq 3$. Following a similar approach as that of Frankl and Rödl, we give several sequences of non-jum** numbers for $r=5$, and extend one of the results to every $r \geq 5$, which generalize the above results.

We determine precisely $e{x_k}\left({n;\mathcal{S}(\ell_1,\ldots,\ell_r)} \right)$ and $e{x_k}\left({n;\mathbb{C}_{\ell_1}^{\left(k \right)}, \ldots, \mathbb{C}_{\ell_r}^{\left(k \right)}} \right)$ for sufficiently large $n$. The results extend recent results of Füredi and Jiang who determined the Turán numbers for single $k$-uniform minimal cycles and linear cycles.

Caro and Yuster introduced a Turán-type problem for $e_p(G)$: given an integer $p$, how large can $e_p(G)$ be if $G$ has no subgraph of a particular type. They got some results for the subgraph of particular type to be a clique of order $r+1$ and a cycle of even length, respectively. Denote by $ex_p(n,H)$ the maximum value of $e_p(G)$ taken over all graphs with $n$ vertices that do not contain $H$ as a subgraph. Clearly, $ex_1(n,H)=2ex(n,H)$, where $ex(n,H)$ denotes the classical Turán number. In this paper, we consider $ex_p(n, C_5)$ and prove that for any positive integer $p$ and sufficiently large $n$, there exists a constant $c=c(p)$ such that the following holds: if $ex_p(n, C_5)=e_p(G)$ for some $C_5$-free graph $G$ of order $n$, then $G$ is a complete bipartite graph having one vertex class of size $cn+o(n)$ and the other $(1-c)n+o(n)$.

The generalized connectivity of a graph $G$ was introduced by Chartrand et al. Let $S$ be a nonempty set of vertices of $G$, and $κ(S)$ be defined as the largest number of internally disjoint trees $T_1, T_2, \cdots, T_k$ connecting $S$ in $G$. Then for an integer $r$ with $2 \leq r \leq n$, the {\it generalized $r$-connectivity} $κ_r(G)$ of $G$ is the minimum $κ(S)$ where $S$ runs over all the $r$-subsets of the vertex set of $G$. Obviously, $κ_2(G)=κ(G)$, is the vertex connectivity of $G$, and hence the generalized connectivity is a natural generalization of the vertex connectivity. Similarly, let $λ(S)$ denote the largest number $k$ of pairwise edge-disjoint trees $T_1, T_2, \ldots, T_k$ connecting $S$ in $G$. Then the {\it generalized $r$-edge-connectivity} $λ_r(G)$ of $G$ is defined as the minimum $λ(S)$ where $S$ runs over all the $r$-subsets of the vertex set of $G$. Obviously, $λ_2(G) = λ(G)$.
In this paper, we study the generalized 3-connectivity of random graphs and prove that for every fixed integer $k\geq 1$, $$p=\frac{\log n+(k+1)\log \log n -\log \log \log n}{n}$$ is a sharp threshold function for the property $κ_3(G(n, p)) \geq k$, which could be seen as a counterpart of Bollobás and Thomason's result for vertex connectivity. Moreover, we obtain that $δ(G(n,p)) - 1 = λ(G(n,p)) - 1 = κ(G(n,p)) - 1 \le {κ_3}(G(n,p)) \le {λ_3}(G(n,p)) \le κ(G(n,p)) = λ(G(n,p)) = δ(G(n,p))$ almost surely holds, which could be seen as a counterpart of Ivchenko's result.
