In recent years, the fervent demand for computational power across various domains has prompted hardware manufacturers to introduce specialized computing hardware aimed at enhancing computational capabilities. Particularly, the utilization of tensor hardware supporting low precision has gained increasing prominence in scientific research. However, the use of low-precision tensor hardware for computational acceleration often introduces errors, posing a fundamental challenge of simultaneously achieving effective acceleration while maintaining computational accuracy.
This paper proposes improvements in the methodology by incorporating low-precision quantization and employing a residual matrix for error correction and combines vector-wise quantization method.. The key innovation lies in the use of sparse matrices instead of dense matrices when compensating for errors with a residual matrix. By focusing solely on values that may significantly impact relative errors under a specified threshold, this approach aims to control quantization errors while reducing computational complexity. Experimental results demonstrate that this method can effectively control the quantization error while maintaining high acceleration effect. The improved algorithm on the CPU can achieve up to 15\% accuracy improvement while 1.46 times speed improvement.

We investigate the low moments $\mathbb{E}[|A_N|^{2q}], 0<q\leq 1$ of {secular coefficients} $A_N$ of the {critical non-Gaussian holomorphic multiplicative chaos}, i.e. coefficients of $z^N$ in the power series expansion of $\exp(\sum_{k=1}^\infty X_kz^k/\sqrt{k})$, where $\{X_k\}_{k\geq 1}$ are i.i.d. rotationally invariant unit variance complex random variables. Inspired by Harper's remarkable result on random multiplicative functions, Soundararajan and Zaman recently showed that if each $X_k$ is standard complex Gaussian, $A_N$ features better-than-square-root cancellation: $\mathbb{E}[|A_N|^2]=1$ and $\mathbb{E}[|A_N|^{2q}]\asymp (\log N)^{-q/2}$ for fixed $q\in(0,1)$ as $N\to\infty$. We show that this asymptotic holds universally if $\mathbb{E}[e^{γ|X_k|}]<\infty$ for some $γ>2q$. As a consequence, we establish the universality for the tightness of the normalized secular coefficients $A_N(\log(1+N))^{1/4}$, generalizing a result of Najnudel, Paquette, and Simm. Another corollary is the almost sure regularity of some critical non-Gaussian holomorphic chaos in appropriate Sobolev spaces. Moreover, we characterize the asymptotic of $\mathbb{E}[|A_N|^{2q}]$ for $|X_k|$ following a stretched exponential distribution with an arbitrary scale parameter, which exhibits a completely different behavior and underlying mechanism from the Gaussian universality regime. As a result, we unveil a double-layer phase transition around the critical case of exponential tails. Our proofs combine Harper's robust approach with a careful analysis of the (possibly random) leading terms in the monomial decomposition of $A_N$.

We proposed a parallel-in-time method based on preconditioner for Biot's consolidation model in poroelasticity. In order to achieve a fast and stable convergence for the matrix system of the Biot's model, we design two preconditioners with approximations of the Schur complement. The parallel-in-time method employs an inverted time-step** scheme that iterates to solve the preconditioned linear system in the outer loop and advances the time step in the inner loop. This allows us to parallelize the iterations with a theoretical parallel efficiency that approaches 1 as the number of time steps and spatial steps grows. We demonstrate the stability, accuracy, and linear speedup of our method on HPC platform through numerical experiments.

Maxwell's equations are a collection of coupled partial differential equations (PDEs) that, together with the Lorentz force law, constitute the basis of classical electromagnetism and electric circuits. Effectively solving Maxwell's equations is crucial in various fields, like electromagnetic scattering and antenna design optimization. Physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) have shown powerful ability in solving PDEs. However, PINNs still struggle to solve Maxwell's equations in heterogeneous media. To this end, we propose a domain-adaptive PINN (da-PINN) to solve inverse problems of Maxwell's equations in heterogeneous media. First, we propose a location parameter of media interface to decompose the whole domain into several sub-domains. Furthermore, the electromagnetic interface conditions are incorporated into a loss function to improve the prediction performance near the interface. Then, we propose a domain-adaptive training strategy for da-PINN. Finally, the effectiveness of da-PINN is verified with two case studies.

Building on the work [18], where some standard basis for the queer $q$-Schur superalgebra $\mathcal{Q}_q(n,r;R)$ is defined by a labelling set of matrices and their associated double coset representatives, we investigate the matrix representation of the regular module of $\mathcal{Q}_q(n,r;R)$ with respect to this basis. More precisely, we derive explicitly (resp., partial explicitly) the multiplication formulas of the basis elements by certain even (resp., odd) generators of a queer $q$-Schur superalgebra.
These multiplication formulas are highly technical to derive, especially in the odd case. It requires to discover many multiplication (or commutation) formulas in the Hecke--Clifford algebra $\mathcal{H}_{r,R}^c$ associated with the labelling matrices. For example, for a given such a labelling matrix $A^{\!\star}$, there are several matrices $w(A)$, $σ(A), \widetilde A$, and $\widehat A$ associated with the base matrix $A$ of $A^{\!\star}$, where $w(A)$ is used to compute a reduced expression of the distinguished double coset representatives $d_A$, and the other matrices are used to describe the permutation $d_A$ and the SDP (commutation) condition between $T_{d_A}$ and generators of the Clifford subsuperalgebra.
With these multiplication formulas, we will construct a new realisation of the quantum queer supergroup in a forthcoming paper [13], and to give new applications to the integral Schur--Olshanski duality and its associated representation theory at roots of unity.

For time discretization, we consider two methods. One uses the backward Euler method, and the other applies a combination of the backward Euler and Crank-Nicolson methods. A priori error estimates show that the two schemes are unconditionally convergent with optimal error orders. Detailed numerical experiments are presented to validate the theoretical analysis.

The idea of using a sequence of finite dimensional algebras to approach a quantum linear group (i.e., a quantum $\mathfrak{gl}_n$) was first introduced by Beilinson-Lusztig-MacPherson [BLM]. In their work, the algebras are convolution algebras of some finite partial flag varieties whose certain structure constants relative to the orbital basis satisfy a stabilization property. This property leads to the definition of an infinite dimensional idempotented algebra. Finally, taking a limit process yields a new realization for the quantum $\mathfrak{gl}_n$. Since then, this work has been modified [DF2] and generalized to quantum affine $\mathfrak{gl}_n$ (see [GV, L] for the geometric approach and [DDF, DF] for the algebraic approach and a new realization) and quantum super $\mathfrak{gl}_{m|n}$ [DG], and, more recently, to convolution algebras arising from type $B/C$ geometry and $i$-quantum groups $\boldsymbol U^\jmath$ and $\boldsymbol U^\imath$; see [BKLW, DWu1, DWu2]. This paper extends the algebraic approach to the quantum queer supergroup $U_{v}(\mathfrak{q}_n)$ via finite dimensional queer $q$-Schur superalgebras.

One of the challenges for multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) is designing efficient learning algorithms for a large system in which each agent has only limited or partial information of the entire system. While exciting progress has been made to analyze decentralized MARL with the network of agents for social networks and team video games, little is known theoretically for decentralized MARL with the network of states for modeling self-driving vehicles, ride-sharing, and data and traffic routing.
This paper proposes a framework of localized training and decentralized execution to study MARL with network of states. Localized training means that agents only need to collect local information in their neighboring states during the training phase; decentralized execution implies that agents can execute afterwards the learned decentralized policies, which depend only on agents' current states.
The theoretical analysis consists of three key components: the first is the reformulation of the MARL system as a networked Markov decision process with teams of agents, enabling updating the associated team Q-function in a localized fashion; the second is the Bellman equation for the value function and the appropriate Q-function on the probability measure space; and the third is the exponential decay property of the team Q-function, facilitating its approximation with efficient sample efficiency and controllable error.
The theoretical analysis paves the way for a new algorithm LTDE-Neural-AC, where the actor-critic approach with over-parameterized neural networks is proposed. The convergence and sample complexity is established and shown to be scalable with respect to the sizes of both agents and states. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first neural network based MARL algorithm with network structure and provably convergence guarantee.

Bayesian adaptive inference is widely used in psychophysics to estimate psychometric parameters. Most applications used myopic one-step ahead strategy which only optimizes the immediate utility. The widely held expectation is that global optimization strategies that explicitly optimize over some horizon can largely improve the performance of the myopic strategy. With limited studies that compared myopic and global strategies, the expectation was not challenged and researchers are still investing heavily to achieve global optimization. Is that really worthwhile? This paper provides a discouraging answer based on experimental simulations comparing the performance improvement and computation burden between global and myopic strategies in parameter estimation of multiple models. The finding is that the added horizon in global strategies has negligible contributions to the improvement of optimal global utility other than the most immediate next steps (of myopic strategy). Mathematical recursion is derived to prove that the contribution of utility improvement of each added horizon step diminishes fast as that step moves further into the future.

Multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL), despite its popularity and empirical success, suffers from the curse of dimensionality. This paper builds the mathematical framework to approximate cooperative MARL by a mean-field control (MFC) approach, and shows that the approximation error is of $\mathcal{O}(\frac{1}{\sqrt{N}})$. By establishing an appropriate form of the dynamic programming principle for both the value function and the Q function, it proposes a model-free kernel-based Q-learning algorithm (MFC-K-Q), which is shown to have a linear convergence rate for the MFC problem, the first of its kind in the MARL literature. It further establishes that the convergence rate and the sample complexity of MFC-K-Q are independent of the number of agents $N$, which provides an $\mathcal{O}(\frac{1}{\sqrt{N}})$ approximation to the MARL problem with $N$ agents in the learning environment. Empirical studies for the network traffic congestion problem demonstrate that MFC-K-Q outperforms existing MARL algorithms when $N$ is large, for instance when $N>50$.

Dynamic programming principle (DPP) is fundamental for control and optimization, including Markov decision problems (MDPs), reinforcement learning (RL), and more recently mean-field controls (MFCs). However, in the learning framework of MFCs, DPP has not been rigorously established, despite its critical importance for algorithm designs. In this paper, we first present a simple example in MFCs with learning where DPP fails with a mis-specified Q function; and then propose the correct form of Q function in an appropriate space for MFCs with learning. This particular form of Q function is different from the classical one and is called the IQ function. In the special case when the transition probability and the reward are independent of the mean-field information, it integrates the classical Q function for single-agent RL over the state-action distribution. In other words, MFCs with learning can be viewed as lifting the classical RLs by replacing the state-action space with its probability distribution space. This identification of the IQ function enables us to establish precisely the DPP in the learning framework of MFCs. Finally, we illustrate through numerical experiments the time consistency of this IQ function.

The G-equation is a well-known model for studying front propagation in turbulent combustion. In this paper, we develop an efficient model reduction method for computing \textcolor{black}{regular solutions} of viscous G-equations in incompressible steady and time-periodic cellular flows. Our method is based on the Galerkin proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) method. To facilitate the algorithm design and convergence analysis, we decompose the solution of the viscous G-equation into a mean-free part and a mean part, where their evolution equations can be derived accordingly. We construct the POD basis from the solution snapshots of the mean-free part. With the POD basis, we can efficiently solve the evolution equation for the mean-free part of the solution to the viscous G-equation. After we get the mean-free part of the solution, the mean of the solution can be recovered. We also provide rigorous convergence analysis for our method. Numerical results for \textcolor{black}{viscous G-equations and curvature G-equations} are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method. In addition, we study the turbulent flame speeds of the viscous G-equations in incompressible cellular flows.

Metallic nanoparticles (NPs) support localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs), which enable to concentrate sunlight at the active layer of solar cells. However, full-wave modeling of the plasmonic solar cells faces great challenges in terms of huge computational workload and bad matrix condition. It is tremendously difficult to accurately and efficiently simulate near-field multiple scattering effects from plasmonic NPs embedded into solar cells. In this work, a preconditioned volume integral equation (VIE) is proposed to model plasmonic organic solar cells (OSCs). The diagonal block preconditioner is applied to different material domains of the device structure. As a result, better convergence and higher computing efficiency are achieved. Moreover, the calculation is further accelerated by two-dimensional periodic Green's functions. Using the proposed method, the dependences of optical absorption on the wavelengths and incident angles are investigated. Angular responses of the plasmonic OSCs show the super-Lambertian absorption on the plasmon resonance but near-Lambertian absorption off the plasmon resonance. The volumetric method of moments and explored physical understanding are of great help to investigate the optical responses of OSCs.

We find two parameters $c_0$ and $β^*$ with $β^*>c_0>0$ which play key roles in the dynamics, here $c_0$ is the minimal speed of the traveling waves of Fisher-KPP equation. More precisely, by studying a family of the initial data $\{ σφ\}_{σ>0}$ (where $φ$ is some compactly supported positive function), we show that, (1) in case $β\in (0,c_0)$, there exists $σ^*\geqslant0$ such that spreading happens when $σ> σ^*$ and vanishing happens when $σ\in (0,σ^*]$; (2) in case $β\in (c_0,β^*)$, there exists $σ^*>0$ such that virtual spreading happens when $σ>σ^*$ (i.e., $u(t,\cdot;σφ)\to 0$ locally uniformly in $[g(t),\infty)$ and $u(t,\cdot + ct;σφ)\to 1$ locally uniformly in $\R$ for some $c>β-c_0$), vanishing happens when $σ\in (0,σ^*)$, and in the transition case $σ=σ^*$, $u(t, \cdot+o(t);σφ)\to V^*(\cdot-(β-c_0)t )$ uniformly, the latter is a traveling wave with a "big head" near the free boundary $x=(β-c_0)t$ and with an infinite long "tail" on the left; (3) in case $β= c_0$, there exists $σ^*>0$ such that virtual spreading happens when $σ> σ^*$ and $u(t,\cdot;σφ)\to 0$ uniformly in $[g(t),h(t)]$ when $σ\in (0,σ^*]$; (4) in case $β\geqslant β^*$, vanishing happens for any solution.

Abstract:
We reconstruct the quantum envelo** superalgebra ${\bf U}(\mathfrak{gl}_{m|n})$ over $\mathbb Q(v)$ via (finite dimensional) quantum Schur superalgebras. In particular, we obtain a new basis containing the standard generators of ${\bf U}(\mathfrak{gl}_{m|n})$ and explicit multiplication formulas between the generators and an arbitrary basis element.

When spreading happens (that is, the solution converges to a positive constant), we use phase plane analysis and upper/lower solutions to prove that the rightward and leftward asymptotic spreading speeds exist, both are positive constants. Moreover, one of them is bigger and the other is smaller than the spreading speed in the corresponding problem without advection term.

The paper explores the indecomposable submodule structures of quantum divided power algebra $\mathcal{A}_q(n)$ defined in \cite{HU} and its truncated objects $\mathcal{A}_q(n, \bold m)$. An "intertwinedly-lifting" method is established to prove the indecomposability of a module when its socle is non-simple. The Loewy filtrations are described for all homogeneous subspaces $\mathcal{A}^{(s)}_q(n)$ or $\mathcal{A}_q^{(s)}(n, \bold m)$, the Loewy layers and dimensions are determined. The rigidity of these indecomposable modules is proved. An interesting combinatorial identity is derived from our realization model for a class of indecomposable $\mathfrak{u}_q(\mathfrak{sl}_n)$-modules. Meanwhile, the quantum Grassmann algebra $Ω_q(n)$ over $\mathcal{A}_q(n)$ is constructed, together with the quantum de Rham complex $(Ω_q(n), d^\bullet)$ via defining the appropriate $q$-differentials, and its subcomplex $(Ω_q(n,\bold m), d^\bullet)$. For the latter, the corresponding quantum de Rham cohomology modules are decomposed into the direct sum of some sign-trivial $\mathfrak{u}_q(\mathfrak{sl}_n)$-modules.

A new differentiable sphere theorem is obtained from the view of submanifold geometry. An important scalar is defined by the scalar curvature and the mean curvature of an oriented complete submanifold $M^n$ in a space form $F^{n+p}(c)$ with $c\ge0$. Making use of the Hamilton-Brendle-Schoen convergence result for Ricci flow and the Lawson-Simons-Xin formula for the nonexistence of stable currents, we prove that if the infimum of this scalar is positive, then $M$ is diffeomorphic to $S^n$. We then introduce an intrinsic invariant $I(M)$ for oriented complete Riemannian $n$-manifold $M$ via the scalar, and prove that if $I(M)>0$, then $M$ is diffeomorphic to $S^n$. It should be emphasized that our differentiable sphere theorem is optimal for arbitrary $n(\ge2)$.
