The governmental policy and implement efficiency are concerned by a generalized incidence function of the susceptible class. We have the existence and uniqueness of the globally positive solution to the stochastic model by using the Lyapunov method. In addition, we study the dynamical behaviors of the disease, and the sufficient conditions for the extinction and persistence in mean are obtained. Finally, numerical simulations are introduced to demonstrate the theoretical results.

The complex and unpredictable nature of deep neural networks prevents their safe use in many high-stakes applications. There have been many techniques developed to interpret deep neural networks, but all have substantial limitations. Algorithmic tasks have proven to be a fruitful test ground for interpreting a neural network end-to-end. Building on previous work, we completely reverse engineer fully connected one-hidden layer networks that have ``grokked'' the arithmetic of the permutation groups $S_5$ and $S_6$. The models discover the true subgroup structure of the full group and converge on neural circuits that decompose the group arithmetic using the permutation group's subgroups. We relate how we reverse engineered the model's mechanisms and confirmed our theory was a faithful description of the circuit's functionality. We also draw attention to current challenges in conducting interpretability research by comparing our work to Chughtai et al. [4] which alleges to find a different algorithm for this same problem.

In this paper we introduce a general framework for analyzing the numerical conditioning of minimal problems in multiple view geometry, using tools from computational algebra and Riemannian geometry. Special motivation comes from the fact that relative pose estimation, based on standard 5-point or 7-point Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) algorithms, can fail even when no outliers are present and there is enough data to support a hypothesis. We argue that these cases arise due to the intrinsic instability of the 5- and 7-point minimal problems. We apply our framework to characterize the instabilities, both in terms of the world scenes that lead to infinite condition number, and directly in terms of ill-conditioned image data. The approach produces computational tests for assessing the condition number before solving the minimal problem. Lastly synthetic and real data experiments suggest that RANSAC serves not only to remove outliers, but also to select for well-conditioned image data, as predicted by our theory.

The solution set of a system of polynomial equations typically contains ill-behaved, singular points. Resolution is a fundamental process in geometry in which we replace singular points with smooth points, while kee** the rest of the solution set unchanged. Resolutions are not unique: the usual way to describe them involves repeatedly performing a fundamental operation known as "blowing-up", and the complexity of the resolution highly depends on certain choices. The process can be translated into various versions of a 2-player game, the so-called Hironaka game, and a winning strategy for the first player provides a solution to the resolution problem. In this paper we introduce a new approach to the Hironaka game that uses reinforcement learning agents to find optimal resolutions of singularities. In certain domains, the trained model outperforms state-of-the-art selection heuristics in total number of polynomial additions performed, which provides a proof-of-concept that recent developments in machine learning have the potential to improve performance of algorithms in symbolic computation.

$$\text{ML}(v_1,\ldots,v_n) = \max_{t \in \mathbb{R}}\min_{1 \leq i \leq n} \|tv_i\|$$
The Loneliness Spectrum Conjecture, recently proposed by Kravitz, asserts that
$$\exists s \in \mathbb{N}, \text{ML}(v_1,\ldots,v_n) = \frac{s} {sn + 1} \text{ or } \text{ML}(v_1,\ldots,v_n) \ge \frac{1}{n}$$
We disprove the Loneliness Spectrum Conjecture for $n = 4$ and propose an alternative conjecture. We confirm the amended conjecture for $n = 4$ if any pair of speeds share a common factor of at least $3$ and also prove some related results.

Under mild and reasonable assumptions, the existence of the maximal solution to the conjugate discrete-time Riccati equation, in which the control weighting matrix is nonsingular and its constant term is Hermitian, will be inherited to a transformed discrete-time algebraic Riccati equation. Based on this inheritance property, an accelerated fixed-point iteration is proposed for finding the maximal solution via the transformed Riccati equation. We also build the correspondence for non-Calabi-Yau cases, and it turns out that only partial structure can be preserved. As an application, we show that the $tt^*$ geometry structure of Landau-Ginzburg model on relavant deformation space uniquely determines the $tt^*$ geometry structure on Calabi-Yau side. This explains the folklore conclusion in physical literature. This result is based on our early work \cite{FLY}.

In this paper we study the numerical instabilities of the 5- and 7-point problems for essential and fundamental matrix estimation in multiview geometry. In both cases we characterize the ill-posed world scenes where the condition number for epipolar estimation is infinite. We also characterize the ill-posed instances in terms of the given image data. To arrive at these results, we present a general framework for analyzing the conditioning of minimal problems in multiview geometry, based on Riemannian manifolds. Experiments with synthetic and real-world data then reveal a striking conclusion: that Random Sample Consensus (RANSAC) in Structure-from-Motion (SfM) does not only serve to filter out outliers, but RANSAC also selects for well-conditioned image data, sufficiently separated from the ill-posed locus that our theory predicts. Our findings suggest that, in future work, one could try to accelerate and increase the success of RANSAC by testing only well-conditioned image data.

The most attention of numerical solutions is the (almost) stabilizing solution in the past works. Nevertheless, it is an interesting and challenging issue in finding the extremal solutions of AREs which play a vital role in the applications. In this paper, based on the semigroup property, an accelerated fixed-point iteration (AFPI) is developed for solving the extremal solutions of the discrete-time algebraic Riccati equation. In addition, we prove that the convergence of the AFPI is at least R-suplinear with order $r>1$ under some mild assumptions. Finite mixture such as the Gaussian mixture is a flexible and powerful probabilistic modeling tool for representing the multimodal distribution widely involved in many estimation and learning problems. The core of it is representing the target distribution by the arithmetic average (AA) of a finite number of sub-distributions which constitute a mixture. While the mixture has been widely used for single sensor filter design, it is only recent that the AA fusion demonstrates compelling performance for multi-sensor filter design. In this paper, some statistic and information-theoretic results are given on the covariance consistency, mean square error, mode-preservation capacity, and the information divergence of the AA fusion approach. In particular, based on the concept of conservative fusion, the relationship of the AA fusion with the existing conservative fusion approaches such as covariance union and covariance intersection is exposed. A suboptimal weighting approach has been proposed, which jointly with the best mixture-fit property of the AA fusion leads to a max-min optimization problem. Linear Gaussian models are considered for algorithm illustration and simulation comparison, resulting in the first-ever AA fusion-based multi-sensor Kalman filter.

Physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) show great advantages in solving partial differential equations. In this paper, we for the first time propose to study conformable time fractional diffusion equations by using PINNs. By solving the supervise learning task, we design a new spatio-temporal function approximator with high data efficiency. L-BFGS algorithm is used to optimize our loss function, and back propagation algorithm is used to update our parameters to give our numerical solutions. For the forward problem, we can take IC/BCs as the data, and use PINN to solve the corresponding partial differential equation. Three numerical examples are are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of our methods. In particular, when the order of the conformable fractional derivative $α$ tends to $1$, a class of weighted PINNs is introduced to overcome the accuracy degradation caused by the singularity of solutions. For the inverse problem, we use the data obtained to train the neural network, and the estimation of parameter $λ$ in the equation is elaborated. Similarly, we give three numerical examples to show that our method can accurately identify the parameters, even if the training data is corrupted with 1\% uncorrelated noise.

The low rank tensor completion (LRTC) problem has attracted great attention in computer vision and signal processing. How to acquire high quality image recovery effect is still an urgent task to be solved at present. This paper proposes a new tensor $L_{2,1}$ norm minimization model (TLNM) that integrates sum nuclear norm (SNN) method, differing from the classical tensor nuclear norm (TNN)-based tensor completion method, with $L_{2,1}$ norm and Qatar Riyal decomposition for solving the LRTC problem. To improve the utilization rate of the local prior information of the image, a total variation (TV) regularization term is introduced, resulting in a new class of tensor $L_{2,1}$ norm minimization with total variation model (TLNMTV). Both proposed models are convex and therefore have global optimal solutions. Moreover, we adopt the Alternating Direction Multiplier Method (ADMM) to obtain the closed-form solution of each variable, thus ensuring the feasibility of the algorithm. Numerical experiments show that the two proposed algorithms are convergent and outperform compared methods. In particular, our method significantly outperforms the contrastive methods when the sampling rate of hyperspectral images is 2.5\%.

To predict a critical transition due to parameter drift without relying on model is an outstanding problem in nonlinear dynamics and applied fields. A closely related problem is to predict whether the system is already in or if the system will be in a transient state preceding its collapse. We develop a model free, machine learning based solution to both problems by exploiting reservoir computing to incorporate a parameter input channel. We demonstrate that, when the machine is trained in the normal functioning regime with a chaotic attractor (i.e., before the critical transition), the transition point can be predicted accurately. Remarkably, for a parameter drift through the critical point, the machine with the input parameter channel is able to predict not only that the system will be in a transient state, but also the average transient time before the final collapse.

It is believed that the $tt^*$ geometric structure contains the whole genus $0$ information of a two dimensional topological field theory. In this paper, we propose the LG/CY correspondence conjecture for $tt^*$ geometry and obtain the following result. Let $f\in\mathbb{C}[z_0, \dots, z_{n+2}]$ be a nondegenerate homogeneous polynomialof degree $n+2$, then it defines a Calabi-Yau model represented by a Calabi-Yau hypersurface $X_f$ in $\mathbb{CP}^{n+1}$ or a Landau-Ginzburg model represented by a hypersurface singularity $(\mathbb{C}^{n+2}, f)$, both can be written as a $tt^*$ structure. We proved that there exists a $tt^*$ substructure on Landau-Ginzburg side, which should correspond to the $tt^*$ structure from variation of Hodge structures in Calabi-Yau side. We build the isomorphism of almost all structures in $tt^*$ geometries between these two models except the isomorphism between real structures.

Transients are fundamental to ecological systems with significant implications to management, conservation, and biological control. We uncover a type of transient synchronization behavior in spatial ecological networks whose local dynamics are of the chaotic, predator-prey type. In the parameter regime where there is phase synchronization among all the patches, complete synchronization (i.e., synchronization in both phase and amplitude) can arise in certain pairs of patches as determined by the network symmetry - henceforth the phenomenon of "synchronization within synchronization." Distinct patterns of complete synchronization coexist but, due to intrinsic instability or noise, each pattern is a transient and there is random, intermittent switching among the patterns in the course of time evolution. The probability distribution of the transient time is found to follow an algebraic scaling law with a divergent average transient lifetime. Based on symmetry considerations, we develop a stability analysis to understand these phenomena. The general principle of symmetry can also be exploited to explain previously discovered, counterintuitive synchronization behaviors in ecological networks.

Specializing to $(X,D)=(S,E)$ for $S$ a del Pezzo surface or a rational elliptic surface and $E$ a smooth anticanonical divisor, we show that maximal contact Gromov-Witten theory of $(S,E)$ is determined by the Gromov-Witten theory of the Calabi-Yau 3-fold $\mathcal{O}_S(-E)$ and the stationary Gromov-Witten theory of the elliptic curve $E$.
Specializing further to $S=\mathbb{P}^2$, we prove that higher genus generating series of maximal contact Gromov-Witten invariants of $(\mathbb{P}^2,E)$ are quasimodular and satisfy a holomorphic anomaly equation. The proof combines the quasimodularity results and the holomorphic anomaly equations previously known for local $\mathbb{P}^2$ and the elliptic curve.
Furthermore, using the connection between maximal contact Gromov-Witten invariants of $(\mathbb{P}^2,E)$ and Betti numbers of moduli spaces of semistable one-dimensional sheaves on $\mathbb{P}^2$, we obtain a proof of the quasimodularity and holomorphic anomaly equation predicted in the physics literature for the refined topological string free energy of local $\mathbb{P}^2$ in the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit.

This article introduces and provides the mathematical foundation of the open string Floer theory of Landau-Ginzburg model viaWitten equation. We introduce the concept of regular tame exact Landau-Ginzburg system on a noncompact Kaehler manifold, and define the notion of Landau-Ginzburg branes, as the objects of the Fukaya category. The study on Witten equation in our context provides the construction of the Fukaya category of Landau-Ginzburg model which was conjectured to be existed in Gaiotto-Moore-Witten's work [22] and Kapranov-Kontsevich-Soibelman's work [30]. This is the first paper in the series of studies on Landau-Ginzburg models in the contexts of the mirror symmetry and other topics.

There are also some applications of this circle of ideas to derive (apparently) new relations of Gromov--Witten invariants.

Given a smooth projective variety $X$ with a smooth nef divisor $D$ and a positive integer $r$, we construct an $I$-function, an explicit slice of Givental's Lagrangian cone, for Gromov--Witten theory of the root stack $X_{D,r}$. As an application, we also obtain an $I$-function for relative Gromov--Witten theory following the relation between relative and orbifold Gromov--Witten invariants.

A simple macroscopic model for the vehicular traffic flow with hysteresis is proposed. The model includes drivers' hysteresis behavior into the classical Lighthill-Whitham-Richard (LWR) model. One novelty of the model is how the hysteresis is modeled based on hysteresis behavior reported in literature. By comparing wave patterns producible by the classical LWR model versus this model, the effect of hysteresis can be revealed. For this purpose, wave pattern analysis is carried out by construction of viscous waves and Riemann solvers of the model. Examples of solutions for initial data corresponding to some real world setups or experimental observations are constructed. Many of them qualitatively agree with experimental observations and intuition. These result shows that the model not only keeps the successful part of the LWR model, but also demonstrates many wave patterns observed real world traffic that LWR fails to exhibit, such as stop-and-go waves and many other traffic patterns. A mechanism for formation and decay of stop-and-go patterns and traffic jams is revealed. Furthermore, acceleration shocks in congested zone are predicted, which can serve as fronts of stop-and-go patterns.

In 2015, Yanni Chen, Don Hadwin and Junhao Shen proved a noncommutative version of Beurling's theorems for a continuous unitarily invariant norm $% α$ on a tracial von Neumann algebra $\left( \mathcal{M},τ\right) $ where $α$ is $\left\Vert \cdot \right\Vert _{1}$-dominating with respect to $τ$. In the paper, we first define a class of norms $% N_{Δ}\left( \mathcal{M},τ\right) $ on $\mathcal{M}$, called determinant, normalized, unitarily invariant continuous norms on $\mathcal{M}$. If $α\in N_{Δ}\left( \mathcal{M},τ\right) $, then there exists a faithful normal tracial state $ρ$ on $\mathcal{M}$ such that $ρ\left( x\right) =τ\left( xg\right) $ for some positive $g\in L^{1}\left( \mathcal{Z},τ\right) $ and the determinant of $g$ is positive. For every $α\in N_{Δ}\left( \mathcal{M},τ\right) $, we study the noncommutative Hardy spaces $% H^{α}\left( \mathcal{M},τ\right) $, then prove that the Chen-Hadwin-Shen theorem holds for $L^{α}\left( \mathcal{M},τ\right) $. The key ingredients in the proof of our result include a factorization theorem and a density theorem for $L^{α}\left( \mathcal{M},ρ\right) $.

In this paper, we first design the finite difference schemes for the tempered fractional Laplacian equation with the generalized Dirichlet type boundary condition, their accuracy depending on the regularity of the exact solution on $\barΩ$. Inspired by the LG/CY correspondence, we study the local index theory of the Schrödinger operator associated to a singularity defined on ${\mathbb C}^n$ by a quasi-homogeneous polynomial $f$. Under some mild assumption on $f$, we show that the small time heat kernel expansion of the corresponding Schrödinger operator exists and is a series of fractional powers of time $t$. Then we prove a local index formula which expresses the Milnor number of $f$ by a Gaussian type integral. Furthermore, the heat kernel expansion provides spectral invariants of $f$. Especially, we define torsion type invariants associated to a singularity. These spectral invariants provide a new direction to study the singularity.

Ecological networks allow us to study the structure and function of ecosystems and gain insights on species resilience/stability. The study of this ecological networks is usually a snapshop focused in a limited specific range of space and time, prevent us to perceive the real dynamics of ecological processes. By definition, an alien species has some ecological strategies and traits that permit it to compete better than the native species (e.g. absence of predators, different bloom period, high grow rate, etc.). Plant-pollinator networks provide valuable services to whole ecosystems and the introduction of an alien species may have different effects on the native network (competitive facilitation, native species extinction, etc.). While scientists acknowledge the significance of network connectivity in driving ecosystem services, the inclusion of temporary networks in ecological models is still in its infancy. We propose to use existing data on seasonality to develop a simulation platform that show inference between temporality of networks and invasions traits. Our focus is only to pick up some simple model to show, that theoretically temporal aspect play a role (different extinction patterns) to encourage ecologist to get involved in temporal networks. Moreover, the derived simulations could be further extended and adjust to other ecological questions.

In the high dimensional Stochastic Blockmodel for a random network, the number of clusters (or blocks) K grows with the number of nodes N. Two previous studies have examined the statistical estimation performance of spectral clustering and the maximum likelihood estimator under the high dimensional model; neither of these results allow K to grow faster than N^{1/2}. We study a model where, ignoring log terms, K can grow proportionally to N. Since the number of clusters must be smaller than the number of nodes, no reasonable model allows K to grow faster; thus, our asymptotic results are the "highest" dimensional. To push the asymptotic setting to this extreme, we make additional assumptions that are motivated by empirical observations in physical anthropology (Dunbar, 1992), and an in depth study of massive empirical networks (Leskovec et al 2008). Furthermore, we develop a regularized maximum likelihood estimator that leverages these insights and we prove that, under certain conditions, the proportion of nodes that the regularized estimator misclusters converges to zero. This is the first paper to explicitly introduce and demonstrate the advantages of statistical regularization in a parametric form for network analysis.
