This paper presents a game-theoretic strategy for racing, where the autonomous ego agent seeks to block a racing opponent that aims to overtake the ego agent. After a library of trajectory candidates and an associated reward matrix are constructed, the optimal trajectory in terms of maximizing the cumulative reward over the planning horizon is determined based on the level-K reasoning framework. In particular, the level of the opponent is estimated online according to its behavior over a past window and is then used to determine the trajectory for the ego agent. Taking into account that the opponent may change its level and strategy during the decision process of the ego agent, we introduce a trajectory mixing strategy that blends the level-K optimal trajectory with a fail-safe trajectory. The overall algorithm was tested and evaluated in various simulated racing scenarios, which also includes human-in-the-loop experiments. Comparative analysis against the conventional level-K framework demonstrates the superiority of our proposed approach in terms of overtake-blocking success rates.

While the Sierpinski carpet set with Moran structure is the limit set obtained by the action of two iterative function systems in the two-dimensional plane, which we denote as ~$F_σ$~. And the structure of each layer may be different, controlled by 0,1 sequence ~$σ$~ and controlled by the set. In this paper, the upper and lower box dimensions of the set ~$F_σ$~ and the straight line ~$L_{a}$~ with rational slope are calculated, where ~$a$~ is the intercept of the straight line. In addition, we consider some related problem. The main difficulty in the research is that the structure of each layer of the set ~$F_σ$~ may be different, so the structure of each layer needs to be considered with the help of the sequence ~$σ$~ in the calculation process.

The ability to accurately predict others' behavior is central to the safety and efficiency of interactive robotics. Unfortunately, robots often lack access to key information on which these predictions may hinge, such as other agents' goals, attention, and willingness to cooperate. Dual control theory addresses this challenge by treating unknown parameters of a predictive model as stochastic hidden states and inferring their values at runtime using information gathered during system operation. While able to optimally and automatically trade off exploration and exploitation, dual control is computationally intractable for general interactive motion planning. In this paper, we present a novel algorithmic approach to enable active uncertainty reduction for interactive motion planning based on the implicit dual control paradigm. Our approach relies on sampling-based approximation of stochastic dynamic programming, leading to a model predictive control problem that can be readily solved by real-time gradient-based optimization methods. The resulting policy is shown to preserve the dual control effect for a broad class of predictive models with both continuous and categorical uncertainty. To ensure the safe operation of the interacting agents, we use a runtime safety filter (also referred to as a "shielding" scheme), which overrides the robot's dual control policy with a safety fallback strategy when a safety-critical event is imminent. We then augment the dual control framework with an improved variant of the recently proposed shielding-aware robust planning scheme, which proactively balances the nominal planning performance with the risk of high-cost emergency maneuvers triggered by low-probability agent behaviors. We demonstrate the efficacy of our approach with both simulated driving studies and hardware experiments using 1/10 scale autonomous vehicles.

Autonomous vehicles (AVs) must share the driving space with other drivers and often employ conservative motion planning strategies to ensure safety. These conservative strategies can negatively impact AV's performance and significantly slow traffic throughput. Therefore, to avoid conservatism, we design an interaction-aware motion planner for the ego vehicle (AV) that interacts with surrounding vehicles to perform complex maneuvers in a locally optimal manner. Our planner uses a neural network-based interactive trajectory predictor and analytically integrates it with model predictive control (MPC). We solve the MPC optimization using the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) and prove the algorithm's convergence. We provide an empirical study and compare our method with a baseline heuristic method.

A stagewise decomposition algorithm called value function gradient learning (VFGL) is proposed for large-scale multistage stochastic convex programs. VFGL finds the parameter values that best fit the gradient of the value function within a given parametric family. Widely used decomposition algorithms for multistage stochastic programming, such as stochastic dual dynamic programming (SDDP), approximate the value function by adding linear subgradient cuts at each iteration. Although this approach has been successful for linear problems, nonlinear problems may suffer from the increasing size of each subproblem as the iteration proceeds. On the other hand, VFGL has a fixed number of parameters; thus, the size of the subproblems remains constant throughout the iteration. Furthermore, VFGL can learn the parameters by means of stochastic gradient descent, which means that it can be easily parallelized and does not require a scenario tree approximation of the underlying uncertainties. VFGL was compared with a deterministic equivalent formulation of the multistage stochastic programming problem and SDDP approaches for three illustrative examples: production planning, hydrothermal generation, and the lifetime financial planning problem. Numerical examples show that VFGL generates high-quality solutions and is computationally efficient.

For the purpose of proving the strong openness conjecture of multiplier ideal sheaves, Jonsson-Mustaţă posed an enhanced conjecture and proved the two-dimensional case, which says that: the Lebesgue measure of the set $\big\{c_o^F(ψ)ψ-\log|F|<\log r\big\}$ divided by $r^2$ has a uniform positive lower bound independent of $r$, for a plurisubharmonic function $ψ$ and a holomorphic function $F$ near the origin $o$. Jonsson-Mustaţă's conjecture was proved by Guan-Zhou depending on the truth of the strong openness conjecture. However, it is still a question whether one can prove Jonsson-Mustaţă's conjecture without using the strong openness property, and obtain a sharp effectiveness result for this conjecture.
In this article, we use an $L^2$ method with the weight functions $ψ-\log|F|$ and firstly consider a module at at a boundary point of the sublevel sets of a plurisubharmonic function. By studying the minimal $L^{2}$ integrals on the sublevel sets of a plurisubharmonic function with respect to the module at the boundary point, we establish a concavity property of the minimal $L^{2}$ integrals. As applications, we obtain a sharp effectiveness result related to Jonsson-Mustaţă's conjecture, which completes the approach from the conjecture to the strong openness property. We also obtain a strong openness property of the module and a lower semi-continuity property with respect to the module.

We consider three-dimensional elastic frames constructed out of Euler-Bernoulli beams and describe extension of matching conditions by relaxing the vertex-rigidity assumption and the case in which concentrated mass may exists. This generalization is based on coupling an (elastic) energy functional in terms of field's discontinuities at a vertex along with purely geometric terms derived out of first principles. The corresponding differential operator is shown to be self-adjoint. Although for planar frames with a class of rigid-joints the operator decomposes into a direct sum of two operators, this property only holds for a special class of the proposed model. Application of theoretical results is then discussed in details for compact frames embedded in Euclidean spaces with different dimensions. This includes extension of the established results for rigid-joint case on exploiting the symmetry present in a frame and decomposing the operator by restricting it onto reducing subspaces corresponding to irreducible representations of the symmetry group. Derivation of characteristic equation based on the idea of geometric-free local spectral basis and enforcing geometry of the graph into play by an appropriate choice of the coefficient set will be discussed. Finally, we prove the limit conditions in parameter space which results in decomposing of vector-valued beam Hamiltonian to a direct sum of scalar-valued ones.

Any separable quadratic extension $K$ of $k$ is of the form $K = k(x_{u})$, where $x_{u}$ is a zero of $X^2+X+u=0$ for some $u\in k$. We characterize the family $\mathcal I$ (resp. $\mathcal F$, $\mathcal F'$) of rational functions $u\in k$ such that any separable quadratic extension $K$ of $k$ in which the infinite prime $\infty = (1/T)$ of $k$ ramifies (resp. splits, is inert) can be written as $K = k(x_{u})$ with a unique $u\in\mathcal I$ (resp. $u\in\mathcal F$, $u\in\mathcal F'$). We analyze for each $k$ with $1\leq k\leq 7$ what the optimal set of shortcuts is. Interestingly, the minimum diameter one can obtain is not a strictly decreasing function of~$k$. For example, with seven shortcuts one cannot obtain a smaller diameter than with six shortcuts. Finally, we prove that the optimal diameter is $2 + Θ(1/k^{\frac{2}{3}})$ for any~$k$.

We also study mean values for the class number and for the cardinality of the second $K$-group of maximal order of the associated fields for ramified imaginary, real, and inert imaginary quadratic function fields over $\mathbb{F}_{q}$.
One of the main novelties of this paper is that we compute the second moment of quadratic Dirichlet $L$-functions associated to monic irreducible polynomials. It is worth noting that the similar second moment over number fields is unknown.
The second innovation of this paper comes from the fact that, if the cardinality of the ground field is even then the task of average $L$-functions in function fields is much harder and, in this paper, we are able to handle this strenuous case and establish several mean values results of $L$-functions over function fields.

We establish the gradient estimates for the perfect conductivity problems and an upper bound of the gradients for the insulated conductivity problems in terms of the distances between any two closely spaced inclusions.

A new method based on Shannon-Happ formula to calculate transfer function from Signal Flow Graph (SFG) is presented. The algorithm provides an explicit approach to get the transfer function in a format with both numerical and symbolic expressions. The adoption of the symbolic variable in SFG, which could represent the nonlinear item or the independent sub-system, is achieved by variable separation approach. An investigation is given for the solutions of several special conditions of SFG. To improve the efficiency of the algorithm, a new technique combined with Johnson method for generating the combinations of the non-touching loops is developed. It uses the previous combinations in lower order to get the ones in higher order. There is an introduction about the visualization of SFG and the subroutines for system performance analysis in the software, AVANT.

Abstract:
We determine all irreducible representations of primary quasi-cyclotomic fields in this paper. The methods can be applied to determine the irreducible representations of any quasi-cyclotomic field. We also compute the Artin L-functions for a class of quasi-cyclotomic fields.

Abstract:
The aperture angle alpha(x, Q) of a point x not in Q in the plane with respect to a convex polygon Q is the angle of the smallest cone with apex x that contains Q. The aperture angle approximation error of a compact convex set C in the plane with respect to an inscribed convex polygon Q of C is the minimum aperture angle of any x in C Q with respect to Q. We show that for any compact convex set…

We show that for any compact convex set C in the plane and any k > 2, there is an inscribed convex k-gon Q of C with aperture angle approximation error (1 - 2/(k+1)) pi. This bound is optimal, and settles a conjecture by Fekete from the early 1990s. The same proof technique can be used to prove a conjecture by Brass: If a polygon P admits no approximation by a sub-k-gon (the convex hull of k vertices of P) with Hausdorff distance sigma, but all subpolygons of P (the convex hull of some vertices of P) admit such an approximation, then P is a (k+1)-gon. This implies the following result: For any k > 2 and any convex polygon P of perimeter at most 1 there is a sub-k-gon Q of P such that the Hausdorff-distance of P and Q is at most 1/(k+1) * sin(pi/(k+1)).

Gradient Estimates for the Perfect Conductivity Problem
Authors:

Abstract:
This paper concerns optimal gradient estimates of solutions for the perfect conductivity problem with closely spaced interfacial boundaries. The problem arises from composite material. Our estimates exhibit different blow up rates of the gradients, as the distance between the inclusions goes to zero, in dimensions n=2, n=3 and n\ge 4, which become higher as dimensions increase.
