The Pauli-based Circuit Optimization, Analysis and Synthesis Toolchain (PCOAST) was recently introduced as a framework for optimizing quantum circuits. It converts a quantum circuit to a Pauli-based graph representation and provides a set of optimization subroutines to manipulate that internal representation as well as methods for re-synthesizing back to a quantum circuit. In this paper, we focus on the set of subroutines which look to optimize the PCOAST graph in cases involving unitary and non-unitary operations as represented by nodes in the graph. This includes reduction of node cost and node number in the presence of preparation nodes, reduction of cost for Clifford operations in the presence of preparations, and measurement cost reduction using Clifford operations and the classical remap** of measurement outcomes. These routines can also be combined to amplify their effectiveness.
We evaluate the PCOAST optimization subroutines using the Intel Quantum SDK on examples of the Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE) algorithm. This includes synthesizing a circuit for the simultaneous measurement of a mutually commuting set of Pauli operators. We find for such measurement circuits the overall average ratio of the maximum theoretical number of two-qubit gates to the actual number of two-qubit gates used by our method to be 7.91.

The interaction term may be space-time dependent and nonlinear. Assuming that the solution is bounded in $H^1(\mathbb{R}^n)$ uniformly in time, we prove soliton resolution conjecture (Asymptotic completeness) by demonstrating that the solution resolves into a smooth and localized part and a free radiation in $\mathcal{L}^2_x(\mathbb{R}^n)$ norm. Examples of such equations include inter-critical and super-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equations, saturated nonlinearities, time-dependent potentials, and combinations of these terms.

Based on the scalar-tensor-vector modified gravitational theory, a modified gravity Schwarzschild black hole solution has been given in the existing literature. Such a black hole spacetime is obtained through the inclusion of a modified gravity coupling parameter, which corresponds to the modified gravitational constant and the black hole charge. In this sense, the modified gravity parameter acts as not only an enhanced gravitational effect but also a gravitational repulsive force contribution to a test particle moving around the black hole. Because the modified Schwarzschild spacetime is static spherical symmetric, it is integrable. However, the spherical symmetry and the integrability are destroyed when the black hole is immersed in an external asymptotic uniform magnetic field and the particle is charged. Although the magnetized modified Schwarzschild spacetime is nonintegrable and inseparable, it allows for the application of explicit symplectic integrators when its Hamiltonian is split into five explicitly integrable parts. Taking one of the proposed explicit symplectic integrators and the techniques of Poincare sections and fast Lyapunov indicators as numerical tools, we show that the charged particle can do chaotic motions under some circumstances. Chaos is strengthened with an increase of the modified gravity parameter from the global phase space structures. There are similar results when the magnetic field parameter and the particle energy increase. However, an increase of the particle angular momentum weakens the strength of chaos.

These solutions are global, with constant non-zero $L^2$ norm, and are stable. As such they are not of the standard asymptotic decomposition of linear wave and localized waves. Such weakly localized waves were expected in view of previous works on the large time behavior of general dispersive equations. It is shown that one can associate a \emph{scattering channel} to such solutions, with the Dilation operator as the asymptotic "hamiltonian".

We consider a matrix Riemann-Hilbert problem for the sextic nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a non-zero boundary conditions at infinity. Before analyzing the spectrum problem, we introduce a Riemann surface and uniformization coordinate variable in order to avoid multi-value problems. Based on a new complex plane, the direct scattering problem perform a detailed analysis of the analytical, asymptotic and symmetry properties of the Jost functions and the scattering matrix. Then, a generalized Riemann-Hilbert problem (RHP) is successfully established from the results of the direct scattering transform. In the inverse scattering problem, we discuss the discrete spectrum, residue condition, trace formula and theta condition under simple poles and double poles respectively, and further solve the solution of a generalized RHP. Finally, we derive the solution of the equation for the cases of different poles without reflection potential. In addition, we analyze the localized structures and dynamic behaviors of the resulting soliton solutions by taking some appropriate values of the parameters appeared in the solutions.

In this work, we consider an integrable three-component coupled Hirota (tcCH) equations in detail via the Riemann-Hilbert (RH) approach. We present some properties of the spectral problems of the tcCH equations with $4\times4$ the Lax pair. Moreover, the RH problem of the equations is established via analyzing the analyticity of the spectrum problem. By studying the symmetry of the spectral problem, we get the spatiotemporal evolution of scattering data. Finally, the $N$-soliton solution is derived by solving the RH problem with reflectionless case. According to the resulting $N$-soliton solution, the influences of each parameters on collision dynamic behaviors between solitons are discussed, and the method of how to control the interactions are suggested by some graphic analysis. In addition, some new phenomenon for soliton collision is presented including localized structures and dynamic behaviors of one- and two- soliton solutions, which can help enrich the nonlinear dynamics of the $N$-component nonlinear Schrödinger type equations.

A symplectic pseudospectral time-domain (SPSTD) scheme is developed to solve Schrodinger equation. Instead of spatial finite differences in conventional finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, the fast Fourier transform is used to calculate the spatial derivatives. In time domain, the scheme adopts high-order symplectic integrators to simulate time evolution of Schrodinger equation. A detailed numerical study on the eigenvalue problems of 1D quantum well and 3D harmonic oscillator is carried out. The simulation results strongly confirm the advantages of the SPSTD scheme over the traditional PSTD method and FDTD approach. Furthermore, by comparing to the traditional PSTD method and the non-symplectic Runge-Kutta (RK) method, the explicit SPSTD scheme which is an infinite order of accuracy in space domain and energy-conserving in time domain, is well suited for a long-term simulation.

In the critical regime where the singularity approaches the soft edge, namely, the edge of the support of the equilibrium measure for the Gaussian weight, the asymptotics of the Hankel determinant and the recurrence coefficients, for the orthogonal polynomials associated with the perturbed Gaussian weight, are obtained and expressed in terms of a family of smooth solutions to the Painlevé XXXIV equation and the $σ$-form of the Painlevé II equation. The mean first exit (passage) time characterizes the average time of a stochastic process never leaving a fixed region in the state space, while the escape probability describes the likelihood of a transition from one region to another for a stochastic system driven by discontinuous (with jumps) Lévy motion. This paper discusses the two deterministic quantities, mean first exit time and escape probability, for the anomalous processes having the tempered Lévy stable waiting times with the tempering index $λ>0$ and the stability index $0<α\le 1$; as for the distribution of jump lengths or the type of the noises driving the system, two cases are considered, i.e., Gaussian white noise and non-Gaussian (tempered) $β$-stable ($0<β<2$) Lévy noise. Firstly, we derive the nonlocal elliptic partial differential equations (PDEs) governing the mean first exit time and escape probability. Based on the derived PDEs, it is observed that the mean first exit time depends strongly on the domain size and the values of $α$, $β$ and $λ$; when $λ$ is close to zero, the mean first exit time tends to $\infty$. In particular, we also find an interesting result that the escape probability of a particle with (tempered) power-law jum** length distribution has no relation with the distribution of waiting times for the model considered in this paper. For the solutions of the derived PDEs, the boundary layer phenomena are observed, which inspires the motivation for develo** the boundary layer theory for nonlocal PDEs.
