In this paper, we provide a unified approach to study the cohomology theories and deformation theories of various types of operators in the category of Lie algebras, including modified $r$-matrices, crossed homomorphisms, derivations, homomorphisms, relative Rota-Baxter operators, twisted Rota-Baxter operators, Reynolds operators and deformation maps of matched pairs of Lie algebras. The main ingredients are quasi-twilled Lie algebras. We introduce two types of deformation maps of a quasi-twilled Lie algebra. Deformation maps of type I unify modified $r$-matrices, crossed homomorphisms, derivations and homomorphisms between Lie algebras, while deformation maps of type II unify relative Rota-Baxter operators, twisted Rota-Baxter operators, Reynolds operators and deformation maps of matched pairs of Lie algebras. We further give the controlling algebras and cohomologies of these two types of deformation maps, which not only recover the existing results for crossed homomorphisms, derivations, homomorphisms, relative Rota-Baxter operators, twisted Rota-Baxter operators and Reynolds operators, but also leads to some new results which are unable to solve before, e.g. the controlling algebras and cohomologies of modified $r$-matrices and deformation maps of matched pairs of Lie algebras.

In this paper, a symplectic structure on a Leibniz algebra is defined to be a {\em symmetric} nondegenerate bilinear form satisfying certain compatibility condition, and a phase space of a Leibniz algebra is defined to be a symplectic Leibniz algebra satisfying certain conditions. We show that a Leibniz algebra has a phase space if and only if there is a compatible Leibniz-dendriform algebra, and phase spaces of Leibniz algebras one-to-one corresponds to Manin triples of Leibniz-dendriform algebras. Product (paracomplex) structures and complex structures on Leibniz algebras are studied in terms of decompositions of Leibniz algebras. A para-Kähler structure on a Leibniz algebra is defined to be a symplectic structure and a paracomplex structure satisfying a compatibility condition. We show that a symplectic Leibniz algebra admits a para-Kähler structure if and only if the Leibniz algebra is the direct sum of two isotropic subalgebras as vector spaces. A complex product structure on a Leibniz algebra consists of a complex structure and a product structure satisfying a compatibility condition. A pseudo-Kähler structure on a Leibniz algebra is defined to be a symplectic structure and a complex structure satisfying a compatibility condition. Various properties and relations of complex product structures and pseudo-Kähler structures are studied. In particular, Leibniz-dendriform algebras give rise to complex product structures and pseudo-Kähler structures naturally.

A novel property is that a cocommutative post-Hopf algebra gives rise to a generalized Grossman-Larsson product, which leads to a subadjacent Hopf algebra and can be used to construct solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation. Then we introduce the notion of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Hopf algebras. A cocommutative post-Hopf algebra gives rise to a relative Rota-Baxter operator on its subadjacent Hopf algebra. Conversely, a relative Rota-Baxter operator also induces a post-Hopf algebra. Then we show that relative Rota-Baxter operators give rise to matched pairs of Hopf algebras. Consequently, post-Hopf algebras and relative Rota-Baxter operators give solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation in certain cocommutative Hopf algebras. Finally we characterize relative Rota-Baxter operators on Hopf algebras using relative Rota-Baxter operators on the Lie algebra of primitive elements, graphs and module bialgebra structures.

Then we introduce the notion of generalized matched pairs of 3-Lie algebras using generalized representations of 3-Lie algebras, which will give rise to twilled 3-Lie algebras. The usual matched pairs of 3-Lie algebras correspond to a special class of twilled 3-Lie algebras, which we call strict twilled 3-Lie algebras. Finally, we use O-operators to construct explicit twilled 3-Lie algebras, and explain why an $r$-matrix for a 3-Lie algebra can not give rise to a double construction 3-Lie bialgebra. Examples of twilled 3-Lie algebras are given to illustrate the various interesting phenomenon.

Consequently, we define the {\em cohomology} of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras and relate it to their infinitesimal deformations. A large class of relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras is obtained from triangular Lie bialgebras and we construct a map between the corresponding deformation complexes. Next, the notion of a \emph{homotopy} relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebra is introduced. We show that a class of homotopy relative Rota-Baxter Lie algebras is intimately related to \emph{pre-Lie$_\infty$-algebras}.

Using crossed homomorphisms, we show that the category of weak representations (resp. admissible representations) of Lie-Rinehart algebras (resp. Leibniz pairs) is a left module category over the monoidal category of representations of Lie algebras. In particular, the corresponding bifunctor of monoidal categories is established to give new weak representations (resp. admissible representations) of Lie-Rinehart algebras (resp. Leibniz pairs). This generalizes and unifies various existing constructions of representations of many Lie algebras by using this new bifunctor. We construct some crossed homomorphisms in different situations and use our actions of monoidal categories to recover some known constructions of representations of various Lie algebras, also to obtain new representations for generalized Witt algebras and their Lie subalgebras. The cohomology theory of crossed homomorphisms between Lie algebras is introduced and used to study linear deformations of crossed homomorphisms.

This paper introduces the notions of a homotopy Rota-Baxter operator and a homotopy $\mathcal{O}$-operator on a symmetric graded Lie algebra. $\mathcal{O}$-operators are important in broad areas in mathematics and physics, such as integrable systems, the classical Yang-Baxter equation, pre-Lie algebras and splitting of operads. In this paper, a deformation theory of $\mathcal{O}$-operators is established in consistence with the general principles of deformation theories. On the one hand, $\mathcal{O}$-operators are shown to be characterized as the Maurer-Cartan elements in a suitable graded Lie algebra. A given $\mathcal{O}$-operator gives rise to a differential graded Lie algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements characterize deformations of the given $\mathcal{O}$-operator. On the other hand, a Lie algebra with a representation is identified from an $\mathcal{O}$-operator $T$ such that the corresponding Chevalley-Eilenberg cohomology controls deformations of $T$, thus can be regarded as an analogue of the André-Quillen cohomology for the $\mathcal{O}$-operator. Thereafter, infinitesimal and formal deformations of $\mathcal{O}$-operators are studied. In particular, the notion of Nijenhuis elements is introduced to characterize trivial infinitesimal deformations. Formal deformations and extendibility of order $n$ deformations of an $\mathcal{O}$-operator are also characterized in terms of the new cohomology theory. Applications are given to deformations of Rota-Baxter operators of weight 0 and skew-symmetric $r$-matrices for the classical Yang-Baxter equation. For skew-symmetric $r$-matrices, there is an independent Maurer-Cartan characterization of the deformations as well as an analogue of the André-Quillen cohomology controlling the deformations, which turn out to be equivalent to the ones obtained as $\mathcal{O}$-operators associated to the coadjoint representations. Finally, infinitesimal deformations of skew-symmetric $r$-matrices and their corresponding triangular Lie bialgebras are studied.

Then we introduce the notion of a product structure on a 3-Lie algebra using the Nijenhuis condition as the integrability condition. A 3-Lie algebra enjoys a product structure if and only if it is the direct sum (as vector spaces) of two subalgebras. We find that there are four types special integrability conditions, and each of them gives rise to a special decomposition of the original 3-Lie algebra. They are also related to $\huaO$-operators, Rota-Baxter operators and matched pairs of 3-Lie algebras. Parallelly, we introduce the notion of a complex structure on a 3-Lie algebra and there are also four types special integrability conditions. Finally, we add compatibility conditions between a complex structure and a product structure, between a symplectic structure and a paracomplex structure, between a symplectic structure and a complex structure, to introduce the notions of a complex product structure, a para-Kähler structure and a pseudo-Kähler structure on a 3-Lie algebra.
