A Useful Formula for Periodic Jacobi Matrices on Trees
Abstract: We introduce a function of the density of states for periodic Jacobi matrices on trees and prove a useful formula for it. This allows new, streamlined proofs of the gap labeling and Aomoto index theorems. We prove a version of this new formula for the Anderson model on trees.

Periodic Boundary Conditions for Periodic Jacobi Matrices on Trees
Abstract: We consider matrices on infinite trees which are universal covers of Jacobi matrices on finite graphs. Stability of Singular Spectral Types under Decaying Perturbations
Abstract: We look at invariance of a.e. boundary condition spectral behavior under perturbations, $W$, of half-line, continuum or discrete Schrödinger operators. We extend the results of del Rio, Simon, Stolz from compactly supported $W$'s to suitable short-range $W$. We also discuss invariance of the local Hausdorff dimension of spectral measures under such perturbations.

Approach to Equilibrium for a Forced Burgers Equation
Abstract: We show that approach to equilibrium in certain forced Burgers equations is implied by a decay estimate on a suitable intrinsic semigroup estimate, and we verify this estimate in a variety of cases including a periodic force.

A Feynman-Kac Formula for Unbounded Semigroups
Abstract: We prove a Feynman-Kac formula for Schrodinger operators with potentials V(x) that obey (for all ε> 0): V(x) \geq - ε|x|^2 - C_ε. Even though e^{-tH} is an unbounded operator, any φ, ψ\in L^2 with compact support lie in D(e^{-tH}) and <φ, e^{-tH}ψ> is given by a Feynman-Kac formula.

The Classical Moment Problem as a Self-Adjoint Finite Difference Operator
Abstract: This is a comprehensive exposition of the classical moment problem using methods from the theory of finite difference operators. Among the advantages of this approach is that the Nevanlinna functions appear as elements of a transfer matrix and convergence of Pade approximants appears as the strong resolvent convergence of finite matrix approximations to a Jacobi matrix. As a bonus of this, we ob… ▽ More

Charge Deficiency, Charge Transport and Comparison of Dimensions
Abstract: We study the relative index of two orthogonal infinite dimensional projections which, in the finite dimensional case, is the difference in their dimensions. We relate the relative index to the Fredholm index of appropriate operators, discuss its basic properties, and obtain various formulas for it. We apply the relative index to counting the change in the number of electrons below the Fermi ener… ▽ More
