In this study, we present a novel computational framework that integrates the finite volume method with graph neural networks to address the challenges in Physics-Informed Neural Networks(PINNs). Our approach leverages the flexibility of graph neural networks to adapt to various types of two-dimensional unstructured grids, enhancing the model's applicability across different physical equations and boundary conditions. The core innovation lies in the development of an unsupervised training algorithm that utilizes GPU parallel computing to implement a fully differentiable finite volume method discretization process. This method includes differentiable integral and gradient reconstruction algorithms, enabling the model to directly solve partial-differential equations(PDEs) during training without the need for pre-computed data. Our results demonstrate the model's superior mesh generalization and its capability to handle multiple boundary conditions simultaneously, significantly boosting its generalization capabilities. The proposed method not only shows potential for extensive applications in CFD but also establishes a new paradigm for integrating traditional numerical methods with deep learning technologies, offering a robust platform for solving complex physical problems.

Topological phases characterized by non-Abelian charges are beyond the scope of the paradigmatic tenfold way and have gained increasing attention recently. Here we investigate topological insulators with multiple tangled gaps in Floquet settings and identify uncharted Floquet non-Abelian topological insulators without any static or Abelian analog. We demonstrate that the bulk-edge correspondence is multifold and follows the multiplication rule of the quaternion group $Q_8$. The same quaternion charge corresponds to several distinct edge-state configurations that are fully determined by phase-band singularities of the time evolution. In the anomalous non-Abelian phase, edge states appear in all bandgaps despite trivial quaternion charge. Furthermore, we uncover an exotic swap effect -- the emergence of interface modes with swapped driving, which is a signature of the non-Abelian dynamics and absent in Floquet Abelian systems. Our work, for the first time, presents Floquet topological insulators characterized by non-Abelian charges and opens up exciting possibilities for exploring the rich and uncharted territory of non-equilibrium topological phases.

In this paper, we investigate the stability of the 2-dimensional (2D) Taylor-Couette (TC) flow for the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. The explicit form of velocity for 2D TC flow is given by $u=(Ar+\frac{B}{r})(-\sin θ, \cos θ)^T$ with $(r, θ)\in [1, R]\times \mathbb{S}^1$ being an annulus and $A, B$ being constants. Here, $A, B$ encode the rotational effect and $R$ is the ratio of the outer and inner radii of the annular region. Our focus is the long-term behavior of solutions around the steady 2D TC flow. While the laminar solution is known to be a global attractor for 2D channel flows and plane flows, it is unclear whether this is still true for rotating flows with curved geometries. In this article, we prove that the 2D Taylor-Couette flow is asymptotically stable, even at high Reynolds number ($Re\sim ν^{-1}$), with a sharp exponential decay rate of $\exp(-ν^{\frac13}|B|^{\frac23}R^{-2}t)$ as long as the initial perturbation is less than or equal to $ν^\frac12 |B|^{\frac12}R^{-2}$ in Sobolev space. The powers of $ν$ and $B$ in this decay estimate are optimal. It is derived using the method of resolvent estimates and is commonly recognized as the enhanced dissipative effect. Compared to the Couette flow, the enhanced dissipation of the rotating Taylor-Couette flow not only depends on the Reynolds number but also reflects the rotational aspect via the rotational coefficient $B$. The larger the $|B|$, the faster the long-time dissipation takes effect. We also conduct space-time estimates describing inviscid-dam** mechanism in our proof. To obtain these inviscid-dam** estimates, we find and construct a new set of explicit orthonormal basis of the weighted eigenfunctions for the Laplace operators corresponding to the circular flows. These provide new insights into the mathematical understanding of the 2D Taylor-Couette flows.

We are concerned with global finite-energy solutions of the three-dimensional compressible Euler-Poisson equations with gravitational potential and general pressure law, especially including the constitutive equation of white dwarf stars. We construct global finite-energy solutions of the Cauchy problem for the Euler-Poisson equations with large initial data of spherical symmetry as the inviscid limit of the solutions of the corresponding Cauchy problem for the Navier-Stokes-Poisson equations. The strong convergence of the vanishing viscosity solutions is achieved through entropy analysis, uniform estimates in $L^p$, and a more general compensated compactness framework via several new ingredients. A key estimate is first established for the integrability of the density over unbounded domains independent of the viscosity coefficient. Then a special entropy pair is carefully designed by solving a Goursat problem for the entropy equation such that a higher integrability of the velocity is established, which is a crucial step. Moreover, the weak entropy kernel for the general pressure law and its fractional derivatives of the required order near vacuum ($ρ=0$) and far-field ($ρ=\infty$) are carefully analyzed. Owing to the generality of the pressure law, only the $W^{-1,p}_{\rm loc}$-compactness of weak entropy dissipation measures with $p\in [1,2)$ can be obtained; this is rescued by the equi-integrability of weak entropy pairs which can be established by the estimates obtained above so that the div-curl lemma still applies. Finally, based on the above analysis of weak entropy pairs, the $L^p$ compensated compactness framework for the compressible Euler equations with general pressure law is established. This new compensated compactness framework and the techniques developed in this paper should be useful for solving further nonlinear problems with similar features.

where $N=2,3$, $μ_j>0$ are constants, $β_{i,j}=β_{j,i}\not=0$ are coupling parameters, $d\geq2$ and $V_j(x)$ are potentials. By Ljapunov-Schmidt reduction arguments, we construct infinitely many nonradial positive solutions of the above system under some mild assumptions on potentials $V_j(x)$ and coupling parameters $\{β_{i,j}\}$, {\it without any symmetric assumptions on the limit case of the above system}. Our result, giving a positive answer to the conjecture in Pistoia and Vaira \cite{PV22} and extending the results in \cite{PW13,PV22}, reveals {\it new phenomenon} in the case of $N=2$ and $d=2$ and is {\it almost optimal} for the coupling parameters $\{β_{i,j}\}$.

In this paper, we study the nonlinear stability of a steady circular flow created between two rotating concentric cylinders. The dynamics of the viscous fluid are described by 2D Navier-Stokes equations. We adopt scaling variables. For the rescaled equations, we prove that the steady flow (Taylor-Couette flow) is asymptotically stable up to a large perturbation of initial data. Back to the original 2D Navier-Stokes equations, this implies an improved transition threshold for the Taylor-Couette flow. The improvement is due to enhanced dissipation and new observations and constructions of weighted $L^2$ norms, which capture a hidden structure between the viscosity constant $ν$ and (different) rotating speeds and locations of two coaxial cylinders. In particular, we allow the location of the outer cylinder to tend to infinity, which renders the initial fluid kinetic energy not uniformly bounded. Due to enhanced-dissipation effect, we also establish a sharp resolvent estimate, desired space-time bounds and optimal decaying estimates, which lead to the proof of nonlinear asymptotic stability of 2D Taylor-Couette flow.

The uniqueness issue of SDE decomposition theory proposed by Ao and his co-workers has recently been discussed. A comprehensive study to investigate connections among different landscape theories [J. Chem. Phys. 144, 094109 (2016)] has pointed out that the decomposition is generally not unique, while Ao et al. (arXiv:1603.07927v1) argues that such conclusions are "incorrect" because of the missing boundary conditions. In this comment, we will combine literatures research and concrete examples to show that the concrete and effective boundary conditions have not been proposed to guarantee the uniqueness, hence the arguments in [arXiv:1603.07927v1] are not sufficient. Moreover, we show that the "uniqueness" of the O-U process decomposition referred by YTA paper is unable to serve as a counterexample to ZL's result since additional assumptions have been made implicitly beyond the original SDE decomposition framework, which cannot be applied to general nonlinear cases. Some other issues such as the failure of gradient expansion method will also be discussed. Our demonstration contributes to better understanding of the relevant papers as well as the SDE decomposition theory.

Motivated by the study of rare events for a typical genetic switching model in systems biology, in this paper we aim to establish the general two-scale large deviations for chemical reaction systems. We build a formal approach to explicitly obtain the large deviation rate functionals for the considered two-scale processes based upon the second-quantization path integral technique. We get three important types of large deviation results when the underlying two times scales are in three different regimes. This is realized by singular perturbation analysis to the rate functionals obtained by path integral. We find that the three regimes possess the same deterministic mean-field limit but completely different chemical Langevin approximations. The obtained results are natural extensions of the classical large volume limit for chemical reactions. We also discuss its implication on the single-molecule Michaelis-Menten kinetics. Our framework and results can be applied to understand general multi-scale systems including diffusion processes.

We demonstrate both theoretically and experimentally nonparaxial Mathieu and Weber accelerating beams, generalizing the concept of previously found accelerating beams. We show that such beams bend into large angles along circular, elliptical or parabolic trajectories but still retain nondiffracting and self-healing capabilities. The circular nonparaxial accelerating beams can be considered as a special case of the Mathieu accelerating beams, while an Airy beam is only a special case of the Weber beams at the paraxial limit. Not only generalized nonparaxial accelerating beams open up many possibilities of beam engineering for applications, but the fundamental concept developed here can be applied to other linear wave systems in nature, ranging from electromagnetic and elastic waves to matter waves.

For a supersonic Euler flow past a straight wedge whose vertex angle is less than the extreme angle, there exists a shock-front emanating from the wedge vertex, and the shock-front is usually strong especially when the vertex angle of the wedge is large. In this paper, we establish the $L^1$ well-posedness for two-dimensional steady supersonic Euler flows past a Lipschitz wedge whose boundary slope function has small total variation, when the total variation of the incoming flow is sufficiently small. In this case, the Lipschitz wedge perturbs the flow and the waves reflect after interacting with the strong shock-front or the wedge boundary. We first obtain the existence of solutions in $BV$ when the incoming flow has small total variation by the wave front tracking method and then study the $L^1$ stability of the solutions. In particular, we incorporate the nonlinear waves generated from the wedge boundary to develop a Lyapunov functional between two solutions, which is equivalent to the $L^1$ norm, and prove that the functional decreases in the flow direction. Then the $L^1$ stability is established, so is the uniqueness of the solutions by the wave front tracking method. Finally, we show the uniqueness of solutions in a broader class, i.e. the class of viscosity solutions.
