In 1730, Euler defined the Gamma function $Γ(x)$ by the integral representation. It possesses many interesting properties and has wide applications in various branches of mathematics and sciences. According to Lerch, the Gamma function $Γ(x)$ can also be defined by the derivative of the Hurwitz zeta function $$ζ(z,x)=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}\frac{1}{(n+x)^{z}}$$ at $z=0$. Recently, Hu and Kim defined the corresponding Stieltjes constants $\widetildeγ_{k}(x)$ and Euler constant $\widetildeγ_{0}$ from the Taylor series of the alternating Hurwitz zeta function $ζ_{E}(z,x)$ $$ζ_{E}(z,x)=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}\frac{(-1)^n}{(n+x)^z}.$$ And they also introduced the corresponding Gamma function $\widetildeΓ(x)$ which has the following Weierstrass--Hadamard type product $$\widetildeΓ(x)=\frac{1}{x}e^{\widetildeγ_{0}x}\prod_{k=1}^{\infty}\left(e^{-\frac{x}{k}}\left(1+\frac{x}{k}\right)\right)^{(-1)^{k+1}}.$$
In this paper, we shall further investigate the function $\widetildeΓ(x)$, that is, we obtain several properties in analogy to the classical Gamma function $Γ(x)$, including the integral representation, the limit representation, the recursive formula, the special values, the log-convexity, the duplication formula and the reflection equation. Furthermore, we also prove a Lerch-type formula, which shows that the derivative of $ζ_{E}(z,x)$ can be representative by $\widetildeΓ(x)$. As an application to Stark's conjecture in algebraic number theory, we will explicit calculate the derivatives of the partial zeta functions for the maximal real subfield of cyclotomic fields at $z=0$.

In this paper we study the algebra of quantum observables of the Chern-Simons matrix model which was originally proposed by Susskind and Polychronakos to describe electrons in fractional quantum Hall effects. We establish the commutation relations for its generators and study the large $N$ limit of its representation. We show that the large $N$ limit algebra is isomorphic to the uniform in $N$ algebra studied by Costello, which is isomorphic to the deformed double current algebra studied by Guay. Under appropriate scaling limit, we show that the large $N$ limit algebra degenerates to a Lie algebra which admits a surjective map to the affine Lie algebra of $\mathfrak{u}(p)$. This leads to a complete proof of the large $N$ emergence of the $\mathfrak{u}(p)$ current algebra as proposed by Dorey, Tong and Turner. This also suggests a rigorous derivation of edge excitation of a fractional quantum Hall droplet.

Though some special instances have been proven, others remain elusive and the attempts on its full proof never stop. When the $Ω$ background parameters satisfy $-ε_1/ε_2\equiv β=1$, the story simplifies a bit. A proof of the correspondence in the case of $A_{1}$ gauge group was given in 2010 by Mironov et al., while the $A_{n}$ extension is verified by Matsuo and Zhang in 2011, with an assumption on the Selberg integral of $n+1$ Schur polynomials. Then in 2020, Albion et al. obtained the rigorous result of this formula. In this paper, we show that their result is equivalent to the conjecture on Selberg integral of Schur polynomials, thus leading to the proof of the $A_{n}$ case at $β=1$. To perform a double check, we also directly start from this formula, and manage to show the identification between the two sides of AGT correspondence.

In this thesis, we take a journey through two different but not dissimilar stories with an underlying theme of combinatorics emerging from scattering amplitudes in quantum field theories.
The first part tells the tale of the $c_2$-invariant, an arithmetic invariant related to the Feynman integral in $φ^4$-theory, which studies the zeros of the Kirchoff polynomial and related graph polynomials. Through reformulating the $c_2$-invariant as a purely combinatorial problem, we show how enumerating certain edge bipartitions through fixed-point free involutions can complete a special case of the long sought after $c_2$ completion conjecture.
The second part tells the tale of the positive Grassmannian and a combinatorial T-duality map on its cells, as related to scattering amplitudes in planar $\mathcal{N} = 4$ SYM theory. In particular, T-duality is a bridge between triangulations of the hypersimplex and triangulations of the amplituhedron, two objects that appear as images of the positive Grassmannian. We give an algorithm for viewing T-duality as a map on Le diagrams and characterize a nice structure to the Le diagrams (which can then be used in lieu of the algorithm). Through this Le diagram perspective on T-duality, we show how the dimensional relationship between the positroid cells on either side of the map can be directly explained.

There are also many integrals, series or infinite product representations of them along the history.
In this note, we try to provide a parallel story for the alternating Hurwitz zeta function (also known as the Hurwitz-type Euler zeta function) $$ζ_{E}(z,q)=\sum_{n=0}^\infty\frac{(-1)^{n}}{(n+q)^{z}},$$ the alternating zeta function $ζ_{E}(z)$ (also known as the Dirichlet's eta function $η(z)$), the modified Stieltjes constants $\tildeγ_k(q)$, the modified Euler constant $\tildeγ_{0}$, the modified gamma function $\tildeΓ(q)$ and the modified digamma function $\tildeψ(q)$ (also known as the Nielsen's $β$ function). Many new integrals, series or infinite product representations of these constants and special functions have been found. By the way, we also get two new series expansions of $π:$ \begin{equation*} \frac{π^2}{12}=\frac34-\sum_{k=1}^\infty(ζ_E(2k+2)-1) \end{equation*} and \begin{equation*} \fracπ{2}= \log2+2\sum_{k=1}^\infty\frac{(-1)^k}{k!}\tildeγ_k(1)\sum_{j=0}^kS(k,j)j!. \end{equation*}

In this paper, we study the geometries given by commuting pairs of generalized endomorphisms ${\cal A} \in \text{End}(T\oplus T^*)$ with the property that their product defines a generalized metric. There are four types of such commuting pairs: generalized Kähler (GK), generalized para-Kähler (GpK), generalized chiral and generalized anti-Kähler geometries. We show that GpK geometry is equivalent to a pair of para-Hermitian structures and we derive the integrability conditions in terms of these. From the physics point of view, this is the geometry of $2D$ $(2,2)$ twisted supersymmetric sigma models. The generalized chiral structures are equivalent to a pair of tangent bundle product structures that also appear in physics applications of $2D$ sigma models. We show that the case when the two product structures anti-commute corresponds to Born geometry. Lastly, the generalized anti-Kähler structures are equivalent to a pair of anti-Hermitian structures (sometimes called Hermitian with Norden metric). The generalized chiral and anti-Kähler geometries do not have isotropic eigenbundles and therefore do not admit the usual description of integrability in terms of the Dorfman bracket. We therefore use an alternative definition of integrability in terms of the generalized Bismut connection of the corresponding metric, which for GK and GpK commuting pairs recovers the usual integrability conditions and can also be used to define the integrability of generalized chiral and anti-Kähler structures. In addition, it allows for a weakening of the integrability condition, which has various applications in physics.

For a deeper understanding of their work, we consider a similar graphical calculus for semi-groupal categories. We introduce two frameworks to formalize this graphical calculus, a topological one based on the notion of a processive plane graph and a combinatorial one based on the notion of a planarly ordered processive graph, which serves as a combinatorial counterpart of a deformation class of processive plane graphs. We demonstrate the equivalence of Joyal and Street's graphical calculus and the theory of upward planar drawings. We introduce the category of semi-tensor schemes, and give a construction of a free monoidal category on a semi-tensor scheme. We deduce the unit convention as a kind of quotient construction, and show an idea to generalize the unit convention. This paper treats mathematically some problems in p-adic quantum mechanics. We first deal with p-adic symplectic group corresponding to the symmetry on the classical phase space. By the filtrations of isotropic subspaces and almost self-dual lattices in the p-adic symplectic vector space, we explicitly give the expressions of parabolic subgroups, maximal compact subgroups and corresponding Iwasawa decompositions of some symplectic groups. For a triple of Lagrangian subspaces, we associated it with a quadratic form whose Hasse invariant is calculated. Next we study the various equivalent realizations of unique irreducible and admissible representation of p-adic Heisenberg group. For the Schrodinger representation, we can define Weyl operator and its kernel function, while for the induced representations from the characters of maximal abelian subgroups of Heisenberg group generated by the isotropic subspaces or self-dual lattice in the p-adic symplectic vector space, we calculate the Maslov index defined via the intertwining operators corresponding to the representation transformation operators in quantum mechanics.

The theory of string-like continuous curves and discrete chains have numerous important physical applications. Here we develop a general geometrical approach, to systematically derive Hamiltonian energy functions for these objects. In the case of continuous curves, we demand that the energy function must be invariant under local frame rotations, and it should also transform covariantly under reparametrizations of the curve. This leads us to consider energy functions that are constructed from the conserved quantities in the hierarchy of the integrable nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE). We point out the existence of a Weyl transformation that we utilize to introduce a dual hierarchy to the standard NLSE hierarchy. We propose that the dual hierarchy is also integrable, and we confirm this to the first non-trivial order. In the discrete case the requirement of reparametrization invariance is void. But the demand of invariance under local frame rotations prevails, and we utilize it to introduce a discrete variant of the Zakharov-Shabat recursion relation. We use this relation to derive frame independent quantities that we propose are the essentially unique and as such natural candidates for constructing energy functions for piecewise linear polygonal chains. We also investigate the discrete version of the Weyl duality transformation. We confirm that in the continuum limit the discrete energy functions go over to their continuum counterparts, including the perfect derivative contributions.

In this paper we regularize the Kepler problem on $S^3$ in several different ways. First, we perform a Moser-type regularization. Then, we adapt the Ligon-Schaaf regularization to our problem. Finally, we show that the Moser regularization and the Ligon-Schaaf map we obtained can be understood as the composition of the corresponding maps for the Kepler problem in Euclidean space and the gnomonic t…

Discrete Nonlinear Schrodinger Equation, Solitons and Organizing Principles for Protein Folding
Authors:

Abstract:
We introduce a novel generalization of the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation. It supports solitons that describe how proteins fold. As an example we scrutinize the villin headpiece HP35, an archetypal protein for testing both experimental and theoretical approaches to protein folding. Using explicit soliton profiles we construct its carbon backbone with an unprecedented accuracy.

Abstract:
In this paper, we systematically develop the "ghost" symmetry of the BKP hierarchy through its actions on the Lax operator $L$, the eigenfunctions and the $τ$ function. In this process, the spectral representation of the eigenfunctions and a new potential are introduced by using squared eigenfunction potential(SEP) of the BKP hierarchy. Moreover, the bilinear identity of the constrained BKP hierar…

In this process, the spectral representation of the eigenfunctions and a new potential are introduced by using squared eigenfunction potential(SEP) of the BKP hierarchy. Moreover, the bilinear identity of the constrained BKP hierarchy and Adler-Shiota-van-Moerbeke formula of the BKP hierarchy are re-derived compactly by means of the spectral representation and "ghost" symmetry.

Extending our reduction construction in \cite{Hu} to the Hamiltonian action of a Poisson Lie group, we show that generalized Kähler reduction exists even when only one generalized complex structure in the pair is preserved by the group action. We show that the constructions in string theory of the (geometrical) $T$-duality with $H$-fluxes for principle bundles naturally arise as reductions of factorizable Poisson Lie group actions. In particular, the group may be non-abelian.
