We consider an $n\times n$ system of ODEs on $\mathbb{P}^1$ with a simple pole $A$ at $z=0$ and a double pole $u={\rm diag}(u_1, \dots, u_n)$ at $z=\infty$. This is the simplest situation in which the monodromy data of the system are described by upper and lower triangular Stokes matrices $S_\pm$, and we impose reality conditions which imply $S_-=S_+^\dagger$. We study leading WKB exponents of Stokes matrices in parametrizations given by generalized minors and by spectral coordinates, and we show that for $u$ on the caterpillar line (which corresponds to the limit $(u_{j+1}-u_j)/(u_j - u_{j-1}) \to \infty$ for $j=2, \cdots, n-1$), the real parts of these exponents are given by periods of certain cycles on the degenerate spectral curve $Γ(u_{\rm cat}(t), A)$.
These cycles admit unique deformations for $u$ near the caterpillar line. Using the spectral network theory, we give for $n=2$, and $n=3$ exact WKB predictions for asymptotics of generalized minors in terms of periods of these cycles. Boalch's theorem from Poisson geometry implies that real parts of leading WKB exponents satisfy the rhombus (or interlacing) inequalities. We show that these inequalities are in correspondence with finite webs of the canonical foliation on the root curve $Γ^r(u, A)$, and that they follow from the positivity of the corresponding periods. We conjecture that a similar mechanism applies for $n>3$.
We also outline the relation of the spectral coordinates with the cluster structures considered by Goncharov-Shen, and with ${\mathcal N}=2$ supersymmetric quantum field theories in dimension four associated with some simple quivers.

Classical Hamiltonian systems with conserved charges and those with constraints often describe dynamics on a pre-symplectic manifold. Here we show that a pre-symplectic manifold is also the proper stage to describe autonomous energy conserving Hamiltonian time crystals. We explain how the occurrence of a time crystal relates to the wider concept of spontaneously broken symmetries; in the case of a time crystal, the symmetry breaking takes place in a dynamical context. We then analyze in detail two examples of time crystalline Hamiltonian dynamics. The first example is a piecewise linear closed string, with dynamics determined by a Lie-Poisson bracket and Hamiltonian that relates to membrane stability. We explain how the Lie-Poisson brackets descents to a time crystalline pre-symplectic bracket, and we show that the Hamiltonian dynamics supports two phases; in one phase we have a time crystal and in the other phase time crystals are absent. The second example is a discrete Hamiltonian variant of the Q-ball Lagrangian of time dependent non-topological solitons. We explain how a Q-ball becomes a time crystal, and we construct examples of time crystalline Q-balls.

Descent equations play an important role in the theory of characteristic classes and find applications in theoretical physics, e.g. in the Chern-Simons field theory and in the theory of anomalies. The second Chern class (the first Pontrjagin class) is defined as $p= \langle F, F\rangle$ where $F$ is the curvature 2-form and $\langle \cdot, \cdot\rangle$ is an invariant scalar product on the corresponding Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. The descent for $p$ gives rise to an element $ω=ω_3 + ω_2 + ω_1 + ω_0$ of mixed degree. The 3-form part $ω_3$ is the Chern-Simons form. The 2-form part $ω_2$ is known as the Wess-Zumino action in physics. The 1-form component $ω_1$ is related to the canonical central extension of the loop group $LG$.
In this paper, we give a new interpretation of the low degree components $ω_1$ and $ω_0$. Our main tool is the universal differential calculus on free Lie algebras due to Kontsevich. We establish a correspondence between solutions of the first Kashiwara-Vergne equation in Lie theory and universal solutions of the descent equation for the second Chern class $p$. In more detail, we define a 1-cocycle $C$ which maps automorphisms of the free Lie algebra to one forms. A solution of the Kashiwara-Vergne equation $F$ is mapped to $ω_1=C(F)$. Furthermore, the component $ω_0$ is related to the associator corresponding to $F$. It is surprising that while $F$ and $Φ$ satisfy the highly non-linear twist and pentagon equations, the elements $ω_1$ and $ω_0$ solve the linear descent equation.

The second one (due to Diakonov-Petrov) replaces a 1-dimensional path integral with a 2-dimensional topological $σ$-model. We show that this $σ$-model is defined by the equivariant extension of the Kirillov symplectic form on the coadjoint orbit. This allows to define the corresponding observable on arbitrary 2-dimensional surfaces, including closed surfaces. We give a new path integral presentation of Wilson lines in terms of Poisson $σ$-models, and we test this presentation in the framework of the 2-dimensional Yang-Mills theory. On a closed surface, our Wilson surface observable turns out to be nontrivial for $G$ non-simply connected (and trivial for $G$ simply connected), in particular we study in detail the cases $G=U(1)$ and $G=SO(3)$.

In the toy model of 1D Chern-Simons theory, the quantized BFV boundary action coincides with the Kostant cubic Dirac operator which plays an important role in representation theory. In the case of 3D Chern-Simons theory, the boundary action turns out to be the odd (degree 1) version of the BF model with source terms for the B field at the points where the Wilson lines meet the boundary. The boundary space of states arising as the cohomology of the quantized BFV action coincides with the space of conformal blocks of the corresponding WZW model.

We consider the boundary WZW model on a half-plane with a cut growing according to the Schramm-Loewner stochastic evolution and the boundary fields inserted at the tip of the cut and at infinity. We study necessary and sufficient conditions for boundary correlation functions to be SLE martingales. Necessary conditions come from the requirement for the boundary field at the tip of the cut to have a depth two null vector. Sufficient conditions are established using Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equations for boundary correlators. Combining these two approaches, we show that in the case of G=SU(2) the boundary correlator is an SLE martingale if and only if the boundary field carries spin 1/2. In the case of G=SU(n) and k=1, there are several situations when boundary one-point correlators are SLE(kappa)-martingales. If the boundary field is labelled by the defining n-dimensional representation of SU(n), we obtain kappa=2. For n even, by choosing the boundary field labelled by the (unique) self-adjoint fundamental representation, we get kappa=8/(n+2). We also study the situation when the distance between the two boundary fields is finite, and we show that in this case the SLE(kappa) evolution is replaced by SLE(kappa, rho) with rho=kappa-6.

Abstract:
In this paper we quantize symplectic dynamical r-matrices over a possibly nonabelian base. The proof is based on the fact that the existence of a star-product with a nice property (called strong invariance) is sufficient for the existence of a quantization. We also classify such quantizations and prove a quantum analogue of the classical composition formula for coboundary dynamical r-matrices.

The currents are labeled by pairs of a vector field and a 1-form on the target space of the sigma model. We compute the current-current commutator and analyse the anomaly cancellation condition, which can be interpreted geometrically in terms of Dirac structures, previously studied in the mathematical literature. Generalized complex structures correspond to decompositions of the current algebra into pairs of anomaly free subalgebras. A new development of the ``monodromy transform'' method for analysis of hyperbolic as well as elliptic integrable reductions of Einstein equations is presented. Compatibility conditions for some alternative representations of the fundamental solutions of associated linear systems with spectral parameter in terms of a pair of dressing (``scattering'') matrices give rise to a new set of linear (quasi-Fredholm) integral equations equivalent to the symmetry reduced Einstein equations. Unlike previously derived singular integral equations constructed with the use of conserved (nonevolving) monodromy data on the spectral plane for the fundamental solutions of associated linear systems, the scalar kernels of the new equations include another kind of functional parameters -- the evolving (``dynamical'') monodromy data for the scattering matrices. For hyperbolic reductions, in the context of characteristic initial value problem these data are determined completely by the characteristic initial data for the fields. In terms of solutions of the new integral equations the field components are expressed in quadratures.

This method generalizes the monodromy transform approach to fields with nonanalytic behaviour on the characteristics inherent to waves with distinct wave fronts. The crux of the method is in a reformulation of the main nonlinear symmetry reduced field equations as linear integral equations whose solutions are determined by generalized (``dynamical'') monodromy data which evolve from data specified on the initial characteristics (the wavefronts).

In this paper the well known Belinskii and Zakharov soliton generating transformations of the solution space of vacuum Einstein equations with two-dimensional Abelian groups of isometries are considered in the context of the so called "monodromy transform approach", which provides some general base for the study of various integrable space - time symmetry reductions of Einstein equations. Similarly to the scattering data used in the known spectral transform, in this approach the monodromy data for solution of associated linear system characterize completely any solution of the reduced Einstein equations, and many physical and geometrical properties of the solutions can be expressed directly in terms of the analytical structure on the spectral plane of the corresponding monodromy data functions. The Belinskii and Zakharov vacuum soliton generating transformations can be expressed in explicit form (without specification of the background solution) as simple (linear-fractional) transformations of the corresponding monodromy data functions with coefficients, polynomial in spectral parameter. This allows to determine many physical parameters of the generating soliton solutions without (or before) calculation of all components of the solutions. The similar characterization for electrovacuum soliton generating transformations is also presented.

In this communication we present the key points of this approach, applied to Einstein equations for vacuum and to Einstein - Maxwell equations for electrovacuum fields in the cases, reducible to the known Ernst equations. Definition of the monodromy data, formulation and solution of the direct and inverse problems of the monodromy transform, a proof of existence and uniqueness of their solutions, the structure of the basic linear singular integral equations and their regularizations, which lead to the equations of (quasi-)Fredholm type are also discussed. A construction of general local solution of these equations is given in terms of homogeneously convergent functional series.
