The moduli space of covariantly constant gauge fields is infinite-dimensional and describes non-perturbative solutions of the Yang-Mills equation of superposed chromomagnetic flux tubes (vortices) of opposite magnetic charges. These gauge field configurations are stretched along the potential valleys of a constant energy density and are separated by potential barriers between classically degenerate vacua that are forming a complicated potential landscape of the QCD vacuum. It is suggested that the solutions describe the condensate of dense chromomagnetic vortices representing a dual analog of the Cooper pairs condensate in a superconductor.

The covariantly constant gauge fields are solutions of the sourceless Yang-Mills equation and represent the classical vacuum fields. We found that the moduli space of covariantly constant gauge fields is much larger than the space of constant chromomagnetic fields. A wider class of covariantly constant gauge field solutions representing non-perturbative magnetic flux sheets of finite thickness is obtained through the nontrivial space-time dependence of a unit colour vector. In some sense these solutions are similar to the Nielsen-Olesen magnetic flux tubes, but instead they have geometry of magnetic flux sheets and are supported without presence of any Higgs field. The infinitesimally thin magnetic sheet solutions can be associated with the singular surfaces considered by 't Hooft. The nonlocal operators that are supported on a two-dimensional surface rather than a one-dimensional curve were considered in literature. These surface operators are analogous to Wilson W(C) and 't Hooft line operators M(C) except that they are supported on a two-dimensional surface rather than a one-dimensional curve. The class of non-perturbative solutions representing a nonvanishing chromomagnetic field that fills out the whole 3D-space is obtained as well. This new class of covariantly constant gauge field solutions is constructed by using the general properties of the Cho Ansatz. We define the topological currents and the corresponding charges and demonstrate that the new solutions have a zero monopole charge density. Instead, the solutions have a nonzero Hopf invariant, which is the magnetic helicity of the Faraday force lines.

In this paper we demonstrate the generation of gravitational caustics that appear due to the geodesic focusing in a self-gravitating N-body system. The gravitational caustics are space regions where the density of particles is higher than the average density in the surrounding space. It is suggested that the intrinsic mechanism of caustics generation is responsible for the formation of the cosmological Large Scale Structure that consists of matter concentrations in the form of galaxies, galactic clusters, filaments, and vast regions devoid of galaxies.
In our approach the dynamics of a self-gravitating N-body system is formulated in terms of a geodesic flow on a curved Riemannian manifold of dimension 3N equipped by the Maupertuis's metric. We investigate the sign of the sectional curvatures that defines the stability of geodesic trajectories in different parts of the phase space. The regions of negative sectional curvatures are responsible for the exponential instability of geodesic trajectories, deterministic chaos and relaxation phenomena of globular clusters and galaxies, while the regions of positive sectional curvatures are responsible for the gravitational geodesic focusing and generation of caustics. By solving the Jacobi and the Raychaudhuri equations we estimated the characteristic time scale of generation of gravitational caustics, calculated the density contrast on the caustics and compared it with the density contrasts generated by the Jeans-Bonnor-Lifshitz-Khalatnikov gravitational instability and that of the spherical top-hat model of Gunn and Gott.

The deep interrelation between elementary particle physics and cosmology manifests itself when one considers the contribution of quantum fluctuations of vacuum fields to the dark energy and the effective cosmological constant. The contribution of zero-point energy exceeds by many orders of magnitude the observational cosmological upper bound on the energy density of the universe. Therefore it seems natural to expect that vacuum fluctuations of the fundamental fields would influence the cosmological evolution in any way. Our aim in this review article is to describe a recent investigation of the influence of the Yang-Mills vacuum polarisation and of the chromomagnetic condensation on the evolution of Friedmann cosmology, on inflation and on primordial gravitational waves. We derive the quantum energy-momentum tensor and the corresponding quantum equation of state for gauge field theory using the effective Lagrangian approach. The energy-momentum tensor has a term proportional to the space-time metric and provides a finite non-diverging contribution to the effective cosmological constant. This allows to investigate the influence of the gauge field theory vacuum polarisation on the evolution of Friedmann cosmology, inflation and primordial gravitational waves. The Type I-IV solutions of the Friedmann equations induced by the gauge field theory vacuum polarisation provide an alternative inflationary mechanism and a possibility for late-time acceleration. The Type II solution of the Friedmann equations generates the initial exponential expansion of the universe of finite duration and the Type IV solution demonstrates late-time acceleration. The solutions fulfil the necessary conditions for the amplification of primordial gravitational waves.

The apparent instability of the chromomagnetic vacuum fields is a result of quadratic approximation. The stability is restored when the nonlinear interaction of negative/unstable modes is taken into account in the case of chromomagnetic vacuum fields and the interaction of the zero modes in the case of (anti)self-dual covariantly-constant vacuum fields. All these vacuum fields are stable and indicate that the Yang-Mills vacuum is highly degenerate quantum state.

We give a general review on the application of Ergodic theory to the investigation of dynamics of the Yang-Mills gauge fields and of the gravitational systems, as well as its application in the Monte Carlo method and fluid dynamics. In ergodic theory the maximally chaotic dynamical systems (MCDS) can be defined as dynamical systems that have nonzero Kolmogorov entropy. The hyperbolic dynamical systems that fulfil the Anosov C-condition belong to the MCDS insofar as they have exponential instability of their phase trajectories and positive Kolmogorov entropy. It follows that the C-condition defines a rich class of MCDS that span over an open set in the space of all dynamical systems. The large class of Anosov-Kolmogorov MCDS is realised on Riemannian manifolds of negative sectional curvatures and on high-dimensional tori. The interest in MCDS is rooted in the attempts to understand the relaxation phenomena, the foundations of the statistical mechanics, the appearance of turbulence in fluid dynamics, the non-linear dynamics of Yang-Mills field and gravitating N-body systems as well as black hole thermodynamics. Our aim is to investigate classical- and quantum-mechanical properties of MCDS and their role in the theory of fundamental interactions.

We analyse the infinite-dimensional limit of the maximally chaotic dynamical systems that are defined on N-dimensional tori. These hyperbolic systems found successful application in computer algorithms that generate high-quality pseudorandom numbers for advanced Monte Carlo simulations. The chaotic properties of these systems are increasing with $N$ because the corresponding Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy grows linearly with $N$. We calculated the spectrum and the entropy of the system that appears in the infinite dimensional limit. We demonstrated that the limiting system has exponentially expanding and contracting foliations and therefore belongs to the Anosov maximally chaotic dynamical systems of infinite dimensionality. The liming system defines the hyperbolic evolution of the continuous functions very similar to the evolution of a velocity function describing the hydrodynamic flow of fluids. We compare the chaotic properties of the limiting system with those of the hydrodynamic flow of incompressible ideal fluid on a torus investigated by Arnold. This maximally chaotic system can find application in Monte Carlo method, statistical physics and digital signal processing.

The tensorgluons have zero electric charge, like gluons, but have a larger spin. Inside the proton a nonzero density of the tensorgluons can be generated by the emission of tensorgluons by gluons. The last mechanism is typical for non-Abelian tensor gauge theories. The process of gluon splitting suggests that part of the proton momentum that was carried by neutral partons is shared between vector and tensor gluons. We derive the regularised evolution equations for the parton distribution functions that take into account these new processes. In particular, this will allow to solve numerically the extended DIGLAP equations and to find out the ratio of densities between gluons and tensorgluons.

We will define and calculate the new metrical invariant for the hyperbolic automorphisms on a torus. The hyperbolic systems on a torus are perfect pseudorandom number generators for the Monte-Carlo (MC) simulations in high energy physics, and the new metrical invariant allows a finer characterisation of the MC generators when they have equal entropies.

I reexamine the phenomena of the chromomagnetic gluon condensation in Yang-Mills theory. The extension of the Heisenberg-Euler Lagrangian to the Yang-Mills theory allows to calculate the effective action, the energy-momentum tensor and demonstrate that the energy density curve crosses the zero energy level of the perturbative vacuum state at nonzero angle and continuously enters to the negative energy density region. At the crossing point and further down the effective coupling constant is small and demonstrate that the true vacuum state of the Yang-Mills theory is below the perturbative vacuum state and is described by the nonzero chromomagnetic gluon condensate. The renormalisation group analysis allows to express the energy momentum tensor, its trace and the first and second order derivatives in terms of Callan-Symanzik beta function and effective coupling constant. The derivatives define the convexity and the extremum of the energy density curve. In the vacuum the energy-momentum tensor is proportional to the space-time metric, and induces a negative contribution to the effective cosmological constant.

We demonstrate that the Riemann zeta function zeros define the position and the widths of the resonances of the quantised Artin dynamical system. The Artin dynamical system is defined on the fundamental region of the modular group on the Lobachevsky plane. It has a finite volume and an infinite extension in the vertical direction that correspond to a cusp. In classical regime the geodesic flow in the fundamental region represents one of the most chaotic dynamical systems, has mixing of all orders, Lebesgue spectrum and non-zero Kolmogorov entropy. In quantum-mechanical regime the system can be associated with the narrow infinitely long waveguide stretched out to infinity along the vertical axis and a cavity resonator attached to it at the bottom. That suggests a physical interpretation of the Maass automorphic wave function in the form of an incoming plane wave of a given energy entering the resonator, bouncing inside the resonator and scattering to infinity. As the energy of the incoming wave comes close to the eigenmodes of the cavity a pronounced resonance behaviour shows up in the scattering amplitude.

We consider the quantisation of the Artin dynamical system defined on the fundamental region of the modular group. In classical regime the geodesic flow in the fundamental region represents one of the most chaotic dynamical systems, it has mixing of all orders, Lebesgue spectrum and non-zero Kolmogorov entropy. As a result, the classical correlation functions decay exponentially. In order to investigate the influence of the classical chaotic behaviour on the quantum-mechanical properties of the Artin system we calculated the corresponding thermal quantum-mechanical correlation functions. It was conjectured by Maldacena, Shenker and Stanford that the classical chaos can be diagnosed in thermal quantum systems by using an out-of-time-order correlation function as well as the square of the commutator of operators separated in time. We demonstrated that the two- and four-point correlation functions of the Louiville-like operators decay exponentially with a temperature dependent exponent. As conjectured the square of the commutator of the Louiville-like operators separated in time grows exponentially, similar to the exponential divergency of trajectories in the classical regime. The corresponding exponent does not saturate the maximal growth condition.

It is the so called perimeter action, since it is a "square root" of the area action in gravity and has a new constant of dimension one in front. The physical reason to introduce the perimeter/linear action was to suppress singular configurations "spikes" in the quantum-mechanical integral over geometries. Here we shall consider the continuous limit of the discretised perimeter/linear action. We shall demonstrate that in the modified theory during the time evolution of a large massive star, when a star undergoes a collapse and develops an event horizon which confines the light, a smaller space-time region will be created behind the event horizon which is unreachable by test particles. These regions are located in the places where a standard theory of gravity has singularities. We are confronted here with a drastically new concept that during the time evolution of a massive star a space-time region is created which is excluded from the physical scene, being physically unreachable by test particles or observables. If this concept is accepted, then it seems plausible that the gravitational singularities are excluded from the modified theory.

Of special interest are C-systems which are defined on compact surfaces of the Lobachevsky plane of constant negative curvature. An example of such system has been introduced in a brilliant article published in 1924 by the mathematician Emil Artin. The dynamical system is defined on the fundamental region of the Lobachevsky plane which is obtained by the identification of points congruent with respect to the modular group, a discrete subgroup of the Lobachevsky plane isometries. The fundamental region in this case is a hyperbolic triangle. The geodesic trajectories of the non-Euclidean billiard are bounded to propagate on the fundamental hyperbolic triangle. In this article we shall expose his results, will calculate the correlation functions/observables which are defined on the phase space of the Artin billiard and demonstrate the exponential decay of the correlation functions with time. The uniformly hyperbolic Anosov C-systems defined on a torus have exponential instability of their trajectories, and as such C-systems have mixing of all orders and nonzero Kolmogorov entropy. The mixing property of all orders means that all its correlation functions tend to zero and the question of a fundamental interest is a speed at which they tend to zero. It was proven that the speed of decay in the C-systems is exponential, that is, the observables on the phase space become independent and uncorrelated exponentially fast. It is important to specify the properties of the C-system which quantify the exponential decay of correlations. We have found that the upper bound on the exponential decay of the correlation functions universally depends on the value of a system entropy. A quintessence of the analyses is that local and homogeneous instability of the C-system phase space trajectories translated into the exponential decay of the correlation functions at the rate which is proportional to the Kolmogorov entropy, one of the fundamental characteristics of the Anosov automorphisms. This result allows to define the decorrrelation and relaxation times of a C-system in terms of its entropy and characterise the statistical properties of a broad class of dynamical systems, including pseudorandom number generators and gravitational systems.

The resulting formula unifies all known splitting probabilities found earlier in gauge field theories. It describes splitting probabilities for integer and half-integer spin particles. We also checked that the splitting probabilities fulfil generalised Kounnas-Ross N=1 supersymmetry relations hinting to the fact that the underlying theory can be formulated in an explicit supersymmetric manner.

The hyperbolic Anosov C-systems have a countable set of everywhere dense periodic trajectories which have been recently used to generate pseudorandom numbers. The asymptotic distribution of periodic trajectories of C-systems with periods less than a given number is well known, but a deviation of this distribution from its asymptotic behaviour is less known. Using fast algorithms, we are studying the exact distribution of periodic trajectories and their deviation from asymptotic behaviour for hyperbolic C-systems which are defined on high dimensional tori and are used for Monte-Carlo simulations. A particular C-system which we consider in this article is the one which was implemented in the MIXMAX generator of pseudorandom numbers. The generator has the best combination of speed, reasonable size of the state, and availability for implementing the parallelization and is currently available generator in the ROOT and CLHEP software packages at CERN.

We suggest an extension of the gauge principle which includes tensor gauge fields. In this extension of the Yang-Mills theory the vector gauge boson becomes a member of a bigger family of gauge bosons of arbitrary large integer spins. The proposed extension is essentially based on the extension of the Poincaré algebra and the existence of an appropriate transversal representations. The invariant Lagrangian is expressed in terms of new higher-rank field strength tensors. It does not contain higher derivatives of tensor gauge fields and all interactions take place through three- and four-particle exchanges with a dimensionless coupling constant. We calculated the scattering amplitudes of non-Abelian tensor gauge bosons at tree level, as well as their one-loop contribution into the Callan-Symanzik beta function. This contribution is negative and corresponds to the asymptotically free theory. Considering the contribution of tensorgluons of all spins into the beta function we found that it is leading to the theory which is conformally invariant at very high energies. The proposed extension may lead to a natural inclusion of the standard theory of fundamental forces into a larger theory in which vector gauge bosons, leptons and quarks represent a low-spin subgroup. We consider a possibility that inside the proton and, more generally, inside hadrons there are additional partons - tensorgluons, which can carry a part of the proton momentum. The extension of QCD influences the unification scale at which the coupling constants of the Standard Model merge, shifting its value to lower energies.

We are develo** further our earlier suggestion to use hyperbolic Anosov C-systems for the Monte-Carlo simulations in high energy particle physics. The hyperbolic dynamical systems have homogeneous instability of all trajectories and as such they have mixing of all orders, countable Lebesgue spectrum and positive Kolmogorov entropy. These extraordinary ergodic properties follow from the C-condition introduced by Anosov. The C-condition defines a rich class of dynamical systems which span an open set in the space of all dynamical systems. The important property of C-systems is that they have a countable set of everywhere dense periodic trajectories and that their density exponentially increases with entropy. Of special interest are C-systems that are defined on a high dimensional torus. The C-systems on a torus are perfect candidates to be used for Monte-Carlo simulations. Recently an efficient algorithm was found, which allows very fast generation of long trajectories of the C-systems. These trajectories have high quality statistical properties and we are suggesting to use them for the QCD lattice simulations and at high energy particle physics.

Because tensorgluons have a larger spin, they can influence the spin structure of the nucleon. We analyse a possible contribution of polarised tensorgluon density to the spin of the nucleon. This contribution appears in the next to leading order, compared to the gluons and can provide a substantial screening effect due to the larger spin of tensorgluons.

We suggest a generalization of the Feynman path integral to an integral over random surfaces. The proposed action is proportional to the linear size of the random surfaces and is called gonihedric. The convergence and the properties of the partition function are analysed. The model can also be formulated as a spin system with identical partition function. The spin system represents a generalisation of the Ising model with ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic and quartic interactions. Higher symmetry of the model allows to construct dual spin systems in three and four dimensions. In three dimensions the transfer matrix describes the propagation of closed loops and we found its exact spectrum. It is a unique exact solution of the tree-dimensional statistical spin system. In three and four dimensions the system exhibits the second order phase transitions. The gonihedric spin systems have exponentially degenerated vacuum states separated by the potential barriers and can be used as a storage of binary information.

Tensor-gluons have zero electric charge, like gluons, but have a larger spin. Therefore we call them tensor-gluons. The nonzero density of tensor-gluons can be generated by the emission of tensor-gluons by gluons. Tensor-gluons can further split into the pairs of tensor-gluons through a different channels. To describe all these processes one should know the general splitting probabilities for tensor-gluons. These probabilities should fulfill very general symmetry relations, which we were able to resolve by introducing a splitting index. This approach allows to find out the general form of the splitting functions, to derive corresponding DGLAP evolution equations and to calculate the one-loop Callan-Simanzik beta function for tensor-gluons of a given spin. Our results provide a nontrivial consistency check of the theory and of the Callan-Simanzik beta function calculations, because the theory has a unique coupling constant and its high energy behavior should be universal for all particles of the spectrum. We argue that the contribution of all spins into the beta function vanishes leading to a conformal invariant theory at very high energies.

We consider a possibility that inside the proton and, more generally, inside the hadrons there are additional partons - tensor-gluons, which can carry a part of the proton momentum. The tensor-gluons have zero electric charge, like gluons, but have a larger spin. Inside the proton a nonzero density of the tensor-gluons can be generated by the emission of tensor-gluons by gluons. The last mechanism is typical for non-Abelian tensor gauge theories, in which there exists a gluon-tensor-tensor vertex of order g. Therefore the number of gluons changes not only because a quark may radiate a gluon or because a gluon may split into a quark-antiquark pair or into two gluons, but also because a gluon can split into two tensor-gluons. The process of gluon splitting suggests that part of the proton momentum which was carried by neutral partons is shared between vector and tensor gluons. We derive evolution equations for the parton distribution functions which take into account these new processes. The momentum sum rule allows to find the tensor-gluons contribution to the Callan-Simanzik beta function and to calculate the corresponding anomalous dimensions. This contribution changes the behavior of the structure functions, and the logarithmic correction to the Bjorken scaling becomes more mild. This also influences the unification scale at which the coupling constants of the Standard Model merge, shifting its value to lower energies of order of 40 TeV.

The first one is a direct calculation of the traces of the generators in a matrix representation of the algebra, and the second one is the usage of the group invariance of the scalar product. We use both methods in our calculation of the scalar product on the extended Poincare algebra in order to have a cross check of our results. The algebra is infinite-dimensional and requires careful treatment of the infinities. The scalar product on the extended algebra found by both methods coincides and the important conclusion which follows is that Poincare generators are orthogonal to the gauge generators.

Electromagnetic interactions of the spin 3/2 particle are investigated while allowing the propagation of the transverse spin 1/2 component present in the reducible Rarita-Schwinger vector-spinor. This is done by allowing a more general form for the mass term, while leaving the kinetic terms untouched. We find that the interaction is consistent and does not lead to superluminal propagation for a range of the mass of the spin 1/2 particle, except for the special point where the spin 1/2 particle is infinitely massive. We then quantize the theory using the appropriate Grassmann-variable path integral and study the poles of the propagator. The unfamiliar feature of the theory is that the charge matrix is not positive definite; it is positive definite on the space of spin 3/2 solutions, and negative definite on the space of spin 1/2 solutions. Classically, for spin 1/2 modes the energy is of the opposite sign to frequency, i.e. the positive frequency modes have negative energy. It is found that the retarded part appropriately propagates the positive energy solutions forward in time, while the advanced part propagates the negative energy solutions back in time so long as the free parameter is chosen such that the positive frequency modes have the same parity. The propagator contains poles of the spin 1/2 modes above the real axis for the positive and below the real axis for the negative frequency modes, while the residues at those poles are also of the sign opposite to the usual; altogether this leads to a unitary S-matrix, the forward amplitude <p|p> being positive for all modes. The canonically quantized field is causal, and the equal-time anti-commutator has positive definite form. We choose the physical vacuum as the highest-weight state with respect to the spin 1/2 operators in order to have positive energy, and to correctly reproduce both the unusual residues and locations of the poles.

We find that the little group generators can be represented as first-order differential operators in the spinor formalism. We use the spinor forms of the generators to get the explicit form of the massive fields of any spin and any helicity. We also deal with the three-particle S-matrix by these spinor form generators, and find that we are able to extend the explicit form of the three-particle vertex obtained by Benincasa and Cachazo to the massive case. We present the explicit expressions for the amplitudes with external particles of the lowest helicities up to -3/2. Group theory, in the form of raising operators of the little group, then dictates other amplitudes with higher helicity in the same spin multiplets. The formalism allows, in principle, to determine the electromagnetic form-factors of charged particles of arbitrary helicities, without additional assumptions about the underlying lagrangian. We find that restrictions which follow from gauge and Lorentz invariance are nearly as restrictive as in the massless case.

A prescription relates this soliton solution with the corresponding field theory operators with many covariant derivatives, whose anomalous scaling dimension grows logarithmically with the space-time spin. We explicitly derive the dependence of anomalous dimension on spin for all leading and next-to-leading orders at strong coupling. We develop an iteration procedure which, in principle, allows to derive all terms in the large spin expansion of the anomalous scaling dimension of twist two operators. Our string theory results are consistent with the conjectured "reciprocity" relation, which has been verified to hold in perturbation theory up to five loops in N=4 SYM. We also derive a duality relation between long and short strings.

The BCFW recursion relation allows to calculate tree-level scattering amplitudes in generalized Yang-Mills theory and, in particular, four-particle amplitudes for the production rate of non-Abelian tensor gauge bosons of arbitrary high spin in the fusion of two gluons. The consistency of the calculations in different kinematical channels is fulfilled when all dimensionless cubic coupling constants between vector bosons (gluons) and high spin non-Abelian tensor gauge bosons are equal to the Yang-Mills coupling constant. There are no high derivative cubic vertices in the generalized Yang-Mills theory. The amplitudes vanish as complex deformation parameter tends to infinity, so that there is no contribution from the contour at infinity. We derive a generalization of the Parke-Taylor formula in the case of production of two tensor gauge bosons of spin-s and N gluons (jets). The expression is holomorhic in the spinor variables of the scattered particles, exactly as the MHV gluon amplitude is, and reduces to the gluonic MHV amplitude when s=1. In generalized Yang-Mills theory the tree level n-particle scattering amplitudes with all positive helicities vanish, but tree amplitudes with one negative helicity particle are already nonzero.

In the recently proposed generalization of the Yang-Mills theory the group of gauge transformation gets essentially enlarged. This enlargement involves an elegant mixture of the internal and space-time symmetries. The resulting group is an extension of the Poincaré group with infinitely many generators which carry internal and space-time indices. This is similar to the super-symmetric extension of the Poincaré group, where instead of an anti-commuting spinor variable one should introduce a new vector variable. The construction of irreducible representations of the extended Poincaré algebra identifies a vector variable with the derivative of the Pauli-Lubanski vector over its length. As a result of this identification the generators of the gauge group have nonzero components only in the plane transversal to the momentum and are projecting out non-Abelian tensor gauge fields into the transversal plane, kee** only their positively definite space-like components.

We find that the interaction is consistent and does not lead to superluminal propagation for a range of the mass parameter where the spin 1/2 component is lighter than the spin 3/2 component, in contrast to the traditional value whereby the spin 1/2 component is removed by making it infinitely massive. The hyperbolicity condition is found to be independent of the magnitude of the electromagnetic field, and the canonically quantized field is constructed to be causal. We then provide appropriate projection operators which reproduce the spin-sum expressions and enable the construction of a physically acceptable propagator. Finally, we suggest a scheme for extension of the Standard Model with Rarita-Schwinger multiplets and identify the muon as the spin 1/2 component of the new multiplet which in addition contains a new, heavy partner of the muon of spin 3/2. The scattering cross-section e+, e- \to μ+, μ- is calculated within this theory, compared to QED, and finally a bound on the new particle's mass is obtained from precision electroweak measurements.

Abstract:
We present a brief review of the non-Abelian tensor gauge field theory and analyze its free field equations for lower rank gauge fields when the interaction coupling constant tends to zero. The free field equations are written in terms of the first order derivatives of extended field strength tensors similar to the electrodynamics and non-Abelian gauge theories. We determine the particle content of the free field equations and count the propagating modes which they describe. In four-dimensional space-time the rank-2 gauge field describes propagating modes of helicity two and zero. We show that the rank-3 gauge field describes propagating modes of helicity-three and a doublet of helicity-one gauge bosons. Only four-dimensional space-time is physically acceptable, because in five- and higher-dimensional space-time the equation has solutions with negative norm states. We discuss the structure of the particle spectrum for higher rank gauge fields.

Abstract:
We calculate the leading-order scattering amplitude of one vector and two tensor gauge bosons in a recently proposed non-Abelian tensor gauge field theory and open superstring theory. The linear in momenta part of the superstring amplitude has identical Lorentz structure with the gauge theory, while its cubic in momenta part can be identified with an effective Lagrangian which is constructed usi…

Abstract:
We consider the production of charged spin-two gauge bosons in the gluon-gluon scattering and calculate polarized cross sections for each set of helicity orientations of initial and final particles. The angular dependence of this cross section is compared with the gluon-gluon scattering cross section in QCD .

We compare the structure of the tree level scattering amplitudes in non-Abelian tensor gauge field theory and in open string theory with Chan-Paton charges. We limit ourselves considering only lower rank tensor fields in both theories. We identify the symmetric and antisymmetric components of the second rank tensor gauge field with the string excitations on the third and forth levels. In the process of this identification we have been selecting only those parts of the tree level scattering amplitudes in the open string theory which have dimensionless coupling constants in four dimensions. It seems that this subclass of tree level scattering amplitudes may provide important information about the structure of the open string theory and most probably it is equivalent to the non-Abelian tensor gauge field theory.
