We investigate the bound on the Lyapunov exponents by a charged particle in Kerr-Newman-de Sitter black holes using analytic and numerical methods. We determine whether the Lyapunov exponent can exceed the bound by an electrically charged particle with an angular momentum. Our tests are applied to the de Sitter spacetime by the positive cosmological constant such as Reissner-Nordström-de Sitter, Kerr-de Sitter, and Kerr-Newman-de Sitter black holes. In particular, we consider Nariai and ultracold limits on these black holes for our tests. From our analysis results, there remain violations on the bound under the positive cosmological constant, and electric charge and angular momentum of the particle significantly impact the Lyapunov exponent.

We propose to solve the dark energy and the coincidence problems by postulating the massless sector of closed strings. This sector constitutes the gravitational multiplet of string theory and, when applied to four-dimensional cosmology, predicts that the expansion of an open Universe defined in string frame is readily accelerating. We confront the prediction with the late-time cosmological data of Type Ia supernovae and quasar absorption spectrum, which probe the evolutions of the Hubble parameter and possibly the fine-structure constant. We report that these observations are in admirable agreement with the prediction without any dark sector and coincidence problem. We estimate the Hubble constant, $H_{0}\simeq 71.2\pm 0.2\,\mathrm{km/s/Mpc}$.

We construct an infinite tower of non-graviton cohomologies in the $SU(2)$ theory and study to what extent they simulate quantum black holes. We find signals for partial no-hair behaviors by showing that certain gravitons are forbidden to dress these cohomologies. This is in qualitative agreement with the perturbative hairs allowed around black holes, which also leads us to a natural setup to construct hairy BPS black holes. The cohomologies are simpler to study in the BMN matrix model truncation of the classical field theory.

Modern technology has brought novel types of wealth. In contrast to hard cashes, digital currencies do not have a physical form. They exist in electronic forms only. Yet, it has not been clear what impacts their ongoing growth will make, if any, on wealth distribution. Here we propose to identify all forms of contemporary wealth into two classes: 'distinguishable' or 'identical'. Traditional tangible moneys are all distinguishable. Financial assets and cryptocurrencies, such as bank deposits and Bitcoin, are boson-like, while non-fungible tokens are fermion-like. We derive their ownership-based distributions in a unified manner. Each class follows essentially the Poisson or the geometric distribution. We contrast their distinct features such as Gini coefficients. Further, aggregating different kinds of wealth corresponds to a weighted convolution where the number of banks matters and Bitcoin follows Bose-Einstein distribution. Our proposal opens a new avenue to understand the deepened inequality in modern economy, which is based on the statistical physics property of wealth rather than the individual ability of owners. We call for verifications with real data.

From the low-energy effective theory of dilatons, consistent with the scale anomaly, we calculate the $2\to2$ scattering amplitudes of dilatons. We find that the one-loop amplitude violates the unitarity bound as the scattering energy approaches the cutoff of the effective theory, $\sqrt{s}=\sqrt{4π} f_D$. We then show that the inclusion of the next-to-lightest state, namely the spin-2 state, of mass around the cutoff improves the unitarity. The unitarity argument suggests that the mass ratio of the dilaton and the spin-2 state is proportional to the square of the Miransky-BKT scaling of the near conformal dynamics.

One is the well known D(-1)-brane or D-instanton, and another is the D1-brane spanning a two dimensional subspace inside S$^5$. We identify the actual 1/2-BPS instantonic D1-brane configurations and their supersymmetry structures. From the results, it is concluded that any spherical D1-instanton with the radius equal to that of S$^5$ is 1/2-BPS. After evaluating the 1/2-BPS D1-instanton action, we discuss the relation of D1-instanton with the $(p, q)$ string instanton. We also discuss the possible 1/2-BPS and 1/4-BPS multiple D1-instanton configurations.

We present the results from the analysis of galaxy rotation curves with Verlinde's emergent gravity. We use the data in the SPARC (Spitzer Photometry and Accurate Rotation Curves) database, which contains a sample of 175 nearby disk galaxies with 3.6 $μ$m surface photometry and rotation curves. We compute the gravitational acceleration at different galactocentric radii expected from the baryon distribution of the galaxies with the emergent gravity, and compare it with the observed gravitational acceleration derived from galactic rotation curves. The predicted and observed accelerations agree well with a mean offset $μ{\rm [log(g_{obs})-log(g_{Ver})]}=-0.060\pm0.004$ and a scatter $σ{\rm [log(g_{obs})-log(g_{Ver})]}=0.137\pm0.004$ by assuming a de Sitter universe. These offset and scatter become smaller when we assume a more realistic universe, quasi de Sitter universe, as $μ=-0.027\pm0.003$ and $σ=0.129\pm0.003$. Our results suggest that Verlinde's emergent gravity could be a good solution to the missing mass problem without introducing dark matter.

We apply the Festina Lente (FL) bound on a hidden sector with $U(1)$ gauge symmetries. Since the FL bound puts a lower bound on masses of particles charged under the $U(1)$ gauge symmetries, it is possible to constrain the hidden sector even with a tiny coupling to the Standard Model. In particular, we focus on the phenomenological implications of the FL bound on milli-charged particles, which naturally arise when kinetic mixing between the photon and the hidden photon is allowed. It turns out that the milli-charged particle with the mass $M\lesssim 5$ meV is prohibited by the FL bound in the case of a single hidden $U(1)$, independent of the value of kinetic mixing. This bound is crucial when bosonic dark matter is taken in consideration in this framework: the fuzzy bosonic dark matter models requesting minuscule masses are ruled out by the FL bound if the longevity of dark matter is protected by the hidden gauge symmetry.

The ever-increasing number of detections of gravitational waves (GWs) from compact binaries by the Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo detectors allows us to perform ever-more sensitive tests of general relativity (GR) in the dynamical and strong-field regime of gravity. We perform a suite of tests of GR using the compact binary signals observed during the second half of the third observing run of those detectors. We restrict our analysis to the 15 confident signals that have false alarm rates $\leq 10^{-3}\, {\rm yr}^{-1}$. In addition to signals consistent with binary black hole (BH) mergers, the new events include GW200115_042309, a signal consistent with a neutron star--BH merger. We find the residual power, after subtracting the best fit waveform from the data for each event, to be consistent with the detector noise. Additionally, we find all the post-Newtonian deformation coefficients to be consistent with the predictions from GR, with an improvement by a factor of ~2 in the -1PN parameter. We also find that the spin-induced quadrupole moments of the binary BH constituents are consistent with those of Kerr BHs in GR. We find no evidence for dispersion of GWs, non-GR modes of polarization, or post-merger echoes in the events that were analyzed. We update the bound on the mass of the graviton, at 90% credibility, to $m_g \leq 1.27 \times 10^{-23} \mathrm{eV}/c^2$. The final mass and final spin as inferred from the pre-merger and post-merger parts of the waveform are consistent with each other. The studies of the properties of the remnant BHs, including deviations of the quasi-normal mode frequencies and dam** times, show consistency with the predictions of GR. In addition to considering signals individually, we also combine results from the catalog of GW signals to calculate more precise population constraints. We find no evidence in support of physics beyond GR.

We initiate a systematic study of fracton physics within the geometric framework of Double Field Theory. We ascribe the immobility and large degeneracy of the former to the non-Riemannian backgrounds of the latter, in terms of generalised geodesics and infinite-dimensional isometries. A doubled pure Yang-Mills or Maxwell theory reduces to an ordinary one coupled to a strain tensor of elasticity theory, and thus rather remarkably provides a unifying description of photons and phonons. Upon a general Double Field Theory background, which consists of Riemannian and non-Riemannian subspaces, the dual photon-phonon pair becomes fractonic over the non-Riemannian subspace. When the elasticity displacement vector condenses, minimally coupled charged particles acquire an effective mass even in the purely Riemannian case, yielding predictions for polaron physics and time crystals. Furthermore, the immobility of neutral particles along the non-Riemannian directions is lifted to a saturation velocity for charged particles. Utilising the differential geometry of Double Field Theory we also present curved spacetime extensions which exhibit general covariance.

An Einstein manifold in four dimensions has some configuration of $SU(2)_+$ Yang-Mills instantons and $SU(2)_-$ anti-instantons associated with it. This fact is based on the fundamental theorems that the four-dimensional Lorentz group $Spin(4)$ is a direct product of two groups $SU(2)_\pm$ and the vector space of two-forms decomposes into the space of self-dual and anti-self-dual two-forms. It explains why the four-dimensional spacetime is special for the stability of Einstein manifolds. We now consider whether such a stability of four-dimensional Einstein manifolds can be lifted to a five-dimensional Einstein manifold. The higher-dimensional embedding of four-manifolds from the viewpoint of gauge theory is similar to the grand unification of Standard Model since the group $SO(4) \cong Spin(4)/\mathbb{Z}_2 = SU(2)_+ \otimes SU(2)_-/\mathbb{Z}_2$ must be embedded into the simple group $SO(5) = Sp(2)/\mathbb{Z}_2$. Our group-theoretic approach reveals the anatomy of Riemannian manifolds quite similar to the quark model of hadrons in which two independent Yang-Mills instantons represent a substructure of Einstein manifolds.

The response of solids to temperature gradients is often described in terms of a gravitational analogue: the effect of a space-dependent temperature is modeled using a space dependent metric. We investigate the validity of this approach in describing the bulk response of quantum Hall states and other gapped chiral topological states. To this end, we consider the prototypical Haldane model in two different cases of (i) a space-dependent electrostatic potential and gravitational potential and (ii) a space-dependent temperature and chemical potential imprinted by a weak coupling to non-interacting electron baths and phonons. We find that the thermal analogue is \textit{invalid}; while a space dependent gravitational potential induces transverse energy currents proportional to the third derivative of the gravitational potential, the response to an analogous temperature profile vanishes in limit of weak coupling to the thermal bath. Similarly, the Einstein relation, the analogy between the electrostatic potential and the internal chemical potential, is not valid in such a setup.

We identify a class of singular spacetimes known in General Relativity with regular non-Riemannian geometries. The former divergences merely correspond to coordinate singularities of the generalised metric for the latter. Computed in string frame, they feature an impenetrable non-Riemannian sphere outside of which geodesics are complete with no singular deviation. Approaching the non-Riemannian points, particles freeze and strings become (anti-)chiral.

Search results are presented for gravitational waves produced by cosmic string loop features such as cusps, kinks and, for the first time, kink-kink collisions.cA template-based search for short-duration transient signals does not yield a detection. We also use the stochastic gravitational-wave background energy density upper limits derived from the O3 data to constrain the cosmic string tension, $Gμ$, as a function of the number of kinks, or the number of cusps, for two cosmic string loop distribution models.cAdditionally, we develop and test a third model which interpolates between these two models. Our results improve upon the previous LIGO-Virgo constraints on $Gμ$ by one to two orders of magnitude depending on the model which is tested. In particular, for one loop distribution model, we set the most competitive constraints to date, $Gμ\lesssim 4\times 10^{-15}$.

We explore the notion of isometries in non-Riemannian geometries. Such geometries include and generalise the backgrounds of non-relativistic string theory, and they can be naturally described using the formalism of double field theory. Adopting this approach, we first solve the corresponding Killing equations for constant flat non-Riemannian backgrounds and show that they admit an infinite-dimensional algebra of isometries which includes a particular type of supertranslations. These symmetries correspond to known worldsheet Noether symmetries of the Gomis-Ooguri non-relativistic string, which we now interpret as isometries of its non-Riemannian doubled background. We further consider the extension to supersymmetric double field theory and show that the corresponding Killing spinors can depend arbitrarily on the non-Riemannian directions, leading to "supersupersymmetries" that square to supertranslations.

According to the covariant open superstring description of D-branes in the AdS$_4 \times \mathbf{CP}^3$ background, 1/2-BPS D2-branes are purely instantonic. Based on this and by taking the eleven dimensional viewpoint, we identify the 1/2-BPS instantonic M2-brane configurations in the AdS$_4 \times$ S$^7 / \mathbf{Z}_k$ background, which reduces to the AdS$_4 \times \mathbf{CP}^3$ under the large $k$ limit, and evaluate their action values. We also consider the previously known 1/2-BPS instantonic objects in ten dimensions from the M2-brane viewpoint to compare with our results.

Here we quantize a closed string upon such backgrounds and identify flat, anomaly-free, non-Riemannian string vacua in the familiar critical dimension, $D{=26}$ (or $D{=10}$). Remarkably, the whole BRST closed string spectrum is restricted to just one level with no tachyon, and matches the linearized equations of motion of Double Field Theory. Taken as an internal space, our non-Riemannian vacua may open up novel avenues alternative to traditional string compactification.

Sourcing $\mathbf{H}$ which is of NS-NS $H$-flux origin, $\mathbf{K}$ is nontrivial if the matter is `stringy'. $\mathbf{H}$ contributes quadratically to the Newton potential, but otherwise is decoupled from the point particle dynamics, i.e. $\bf{\ddot{x}}=-\bf{\nabla}Φ$. We define `stringization' analogous to magnetization and discuss regular as well as monopole-like singular solutions.

Taking $\mathbf{O}(D,D)$ covariant field variables as its truly fundamental constituents, Double Field Theory can accommodate not only conventional supergravity but also non-Riemannian gravities that may be classified by two non-negative integers, $(n,\bar{n})$. Such non-Riemannian backgrounds render a propagating string chiral and anti-chiral over $n$ and $\bar{n}$ dimensions respectively. Examples include, but are not limited to, Newton--Cartan, Carroll, or Gomis--Ooguri. Here we analyze the variational principle with care for a generic $(n,\bar{n})$ non-Riemannian sector. We recognize a nontrivial subtlety for ${n\bar{n}\neq 0}$ that infinitesimal variations generically include those which change $(n,\bar{n})$. This seems to suggest that the various non-Riemannian gravities should better be identified as different solution sectors of Double Field Theory rather than viewed as independent theories. Separate verification of our results as string worldsheet beta-functions may enlarge the scope of the string landscape far beyond Riemann.

In string theory the closed-string massless NS-NS sector forms a multiplet of $\mathbf{O}(D,D)$ symmetry. This suggests a specific modification to General Relativity in which the entire NS-NS sector is promoted to stringy graviton fields. Imposing off-shell $\mathbf{O}(D,D)$ symmetry fixes the correct couplings to other matter fields and the Einstein field equations are enriched to comprise $D^{2}+1$ components, dubbed recently as the Einstein Double Field Equations. Here we explore the cosmological implications of this framework. We derive the most general homogeneous and isotropic ansatzes for both stringy graviton fields and the $\mathbf{O}(D,D)$-covariant energy-momentum tensor. Crucially, the former admits space-filling magnetic $H$-flux. Substituting them into the Einstein Double Field Equations, we obtain the $\mathbf{O}(D,D)$ completion of the Friedmann equations along with a generalized continuity equation. We discuss how solutions in this framework may be characterized by two equation-of-state parameters, $w$ and $λ$, where the latter characterizes the relative intensities of scalar and tensor forces. When $λ+3w=1$, the dilaton remains constant throughout the cosmological evolution, and one recovers the standard Friedmann equations for generic matter content (i.e. for any $w$). We further point out that, in contrast to General Relativity, neither an $\mathbf{O}(D,D)$-symmetric cosmological constant nor a scalar field with positive energy density gives rise to a de Sitter solution.

In the previous works, we proposed atomic quantum simulations of the U(1) gauge-Higgs model by ultra-cold Bose gases. By studying extended Bose-Hubbard models (EBHMs) including long-range repulsions, we clarified the locations of the confinement, Coulomb and Higgs phases. In this paper, we study the EBHM with nearest-neighbor repulsions in one and two dimensions at large fillings by the Gutzwiller variational method. We obtain phase diagrams and investigate dynamical behavior of electric flux from the gauge-theoretical point of view. We also study if the system exhibits glassy quantum dynamics in the absence and presence of quenched disorder. We explain that the obtained results have a natural interpretation in the gauge theory framework. Our results suggest important perspective on many-body localization in strongly-correlated systems. They are also closely related to anomalously slow dynamics observed by recent experiments performed on Rydberg atom chain, and our study indicates existence of similar phenomenon in two-dimensional space.

Motivated by the recently proposed de Sitter swampland conjecture, a formally same condition imposed instead on the convex and real exact effective potential is contemplated. Compared to the original conjecture, the modified condition admits a broader class of low-energy effective theories such as those with local maxima and/or false de Sitter vacua with some restrictions, as long as there is an anti-de Sitter vacuum. The observed accelerating expansion of the universe might therefore be attributed to a quintessence or a metastable vacuum. The former solution can be simplified and thus better compatible with phenomenological constraints thanks to the convexity of the effective potential. Among the latter class of solutions is found the enthralling possibility that the modified condition is in fact behind the experimentally favoured metastability of the Higgs potential with an instability scale below or around the Planck scale.

This paper is a mathematical study of quantum correlation functions in quantum field theory within a homotopy algebraic framework motivated from the BV quantization scheme. We characterize quantum correlation functions by algebraic homotopy theoretical methods which circumvent gauge fixing and perturbative Feynman diagrams. We show that there is a universal algebraic structure, closely related with that of the WDVV equation, governing quantum correlation functions of every quantum field theory in our framework up to a certain ambiguity. The algebraic structure is independent of the details of the quantum expectation, other than its existence with the prescribed symmetry, and comes with a concrete algorithm for explicit computations. We will also make proposals for the precise natures of quantum expectation and physical equivalence of quantum field theories.

We propose a novel Kaluza-Klein scheme which assumes the internal space to be maximally non-Riemannian, meaning that no Riemannian metric can be defined for any subspace. Its description is only possible through Double Field Theory but not within supergravity. We spell out the corresponding Scherk-Schwarz twistable Kaluza--Klein ansatz, and point out that the internal space prevents rigidly any graviscalar moduli. Plugging the same ansatz into higher-dimensional pure Double Field Theory and also to a known doubled-yet-gauged string action, we recover heterotic supergravity as well as heterotic worldsheet action. In this way, we show that 1) supergravity and Yang-Mills theory can be unified into higher-dimensional pure Double Field Theory, free of moduli, and 2) heterotic string theory may have a higher-dimensional non-Riemannian origin.

We obtain a black hole solution of minimal massive gravity theory with Maxwell and electromagnetic Chern-Simons terms using the first order formalism. This black hole solution can be translated into the spacelike warped $AdS_3$ black hole solution with some parameters' conditions changing their coordinates system into a Schwarzschild one. Applying the Wald formalism to this theory with the first order formalism, we also find out the entropy, mass, and angular momentum of this black hole solution satisfies the first law of black hole thermodynamics. Under the assumption that minimal massive gravity theory with suitable asymptotically warped $AdS_3$ boundary conditions is holographically dual to a two dimensional boundary conformal field theory, we find appropriate central charges by using the relations between entropy of this black hole and the Cardy formula in dual conformal field theory described by left and right moving central charges and temperatures.

In the language of the Higgs branch localization, the nonzero contribution of the vortex partition function comes from the discrete Higgs vacua of the massively deformed theory, which precisely matches with that of the dual theory. We also clarify the monopole operators parametrizing the Coulomb branch of such theories. Existence of independent monopole operators of charge 2 is crucial to describe the Coulomb branch.

As an example, we study the most general ${D=4}$ static, asymptotically flat, spherically symmetric, `regular' solution, sourced by the stringy Energy-Momentum tensor which is nontrivial only up to a finite radius from the center. Outside this radius, the solution matches the known vacuum geometry which has four constant parameters. We propose the ansatz for the elliptic genera which reflects the analytic structure of instanton partition functions. Given a finite amount of initial BPS data, we completely determine the elliptic genera of 6d strings in various 6d SCFTs. We also apply our ansatz to study $\mathcal{N}=(2,0)$ and $(1,1)$ little strings as well as $\mathcal{N}=(1,0)$ heterotic little strings, for which T-duality of little string theories supplies a sufficient number of initial BPS data. The anomaly polynomials of 6d little strings are worked out, which is needed for the elliptic genera bootstrap. In some little string theories, the elliptic genera must have the extra contributions from the Coulomb branch, which correspond to the additional zero modes for the full strings. The modified ansatze for such elliptic genera are also discussed.

Dictated by Symmetry Principle, string theory predicts not General Relativity but its own gravity which assumes the entire closed string massless sector to be geometric and thus gravitational. In terms of $R/(MG)$, i.e. the dimensionless radial variable normalized by mass, Stringy Gravity agrees with General Relativity toward infinity, but modifies it at short distance. At far short distance, gravitational force can be even repulsive. These may solve the dark matter and energy problems, as they arise essentially from small $R/(MG)$ observations: long distance divided by much heavier mass. We address the pertinent differential geometry for Stringy Gravity, stringy Equivalence Principle, stringy geodesics and the minimal coupling to the Standard Model. We highlight the notion of `doubled-yet-gauged' coordinate system, in which a gauge orbit corresponds to a single physical point and proper distance is defined between two gauge orbits by a path integral.

Here we present a complete classification of such non-Riemannian spacetimes in terms of two non-negative integers, $(n,\bar{n})$, $0\leq n+\bar{n}\leq D$. Upon these backgrounds, strings become chiral and anti-chiral over $n$ and $\bar{n}$ directions respectively, while particles and strings are frozen over the $n+\bar{n}$ directions. In particular, we identify $(0,0)$ as Riemannian manifolds, $(1,0)$ as non-relativistic spacetime, $(1,1)$ as Gomis-Ooguri non-relativistic string, $(D{-1},0)$ as ultra-relativistic Carroll geometry, and $(D,0)$ as Siegel's chiral string. Combined with a covariant Kaluza-Klein ansatz which we further spell, $(0,1)$ leads to Newton-Cartan gravity. Alternative to the conventional string compactifications on small manifolds, non-Riemannian spacetime such as $D=10$, $(3,3)$ may open a new scheme of the dimensional reduction from ten to four.

For the theory with one adjoint and $N_f >k$ fundamentals, we argue the theory exhibits mass gap.

Finite systems may undergo first or second order phase transitions under not isovolumetric but isobaric condition. The `analyticity' of a finite-system partition function has been argued to imply universal values for isobaric critical exponents, $α_{\scriptscriptstyle{P}}$, $β_{\scriptscriptstyle{P}}$ and $γ_{\scriptscriptstyle{P}}$. Here we test this prediction by analyzing NIST REFPROP data for twenty major molecules, including $\mathrm{H_{2}O, CO_{2}, O_{2}}$, etc. We report they are consistent with the prediction for temperature range, $10^{-5} <|T/T_{c}-1|<10^{-3}$. For each molecule, there appears to exist a characteristic natural number, $n=2,3,4,5,6$, which determines all the critical exponents for $T<T_{c}$ as $α_{\scriptscriptstyle{P}}=γ_{\scriptscriptstyle{P}}=\frac{n}{n+1}$ and $β_{\scriptscriptstyle{P}}=δ^{-1}=\frac{1}{n+1}$. For the opposite $T>T_{c}$, all the fluids seem to indicate the universal value of ${n=2}$.

Einstein-dilaton-$U(2)$ gauge field theory is considered in a spacetime characterised by $α$ and $z$, which are the hyperscaling violation factor and the dynamical critical exponent respectively. We obtain the critical values of chemical potential $μ_c$ that is defined on its boundary dual fluid and derives phase transition from spatially isotropic to anisotropic phase for the various values of the $α$ and $z$. To do so, we first apply Sturm-Liouville theory and estimate the upper bounds of the critical values of the chemical potential. We also employ a numerical method in the ranges of $1 \leq z \leq 4$ and $0 \leq α\leq 4$ to check if the Sturm-Liouville method correctly estimates the critical values of the chemical po10 percent error ranges. Finally, we compute free energy density of the dual fluid by using its gravity dual and check if the system shows phase transition at the critical values of the chemical potential $μ_c$ for the given parameter region of $α$ and $z$. Interestingly, it is observed that the anisotropic phase is more favoured than the isotropic phase for small values of $z$ and $α$. However, for large values of $z$ and $α$, the anisotropic phase is not favoured.tential. It turns out that the two methods are agreed within

Further, restricted to flat backgrounds, it enjoys maximal spacetime supersymmetry and kappa-symmetry. After the auxiliary coordinate gauge symmetry potential being integrated out, our action can consistently reduce to the original undoubled Green-Schwarz action. Thanks to the twofold spin groups, the action is unique: it is specific choices of the NS-NS backgrounds that distinguish IIA or IIB, as well as lead to non-Riemannian or non-relativistic superstring a la Gomis-Ooguri which might deserve the nomenclature, type IIC.

We use our gauge theories to compute the elliptic genera of the self-dual strings, which completely agree with the partial data known from topological strings. We further study the strings of the $(E_6,E_6)$ conformal matter by generalizing our 2d gauge theories. We also show that anomalies of all our gauge theories agree with the self-dual string anomalies computed by inflows from 6d.

Double Field Theory suggests to view the whole massless sector of closed strings as the gravitational unity. The fundamental symmetries therein, including the $\mathbf{O}(D,D)$ covariance, can determine unambiguously how the Standard Model as well as a relativistic point particle should couple to the closed string massless sector. The theory also refines the notion of singularity. We consider the most general, spherically symmetric, asymptotically flat, static vacuum solution to ${D=4}$ Double Field Theory, which contains three free parameters and consequently generalizes the Schwarzschild geometry. Analyzing the circular geodesic of a point particle in string frame, we obtain the orbital velocity as a function of $R/(M_{\scriptscriptstyle{\infty}}G)$ which is the dimensionless radial variable normalized by mass. The rotation curve generically features a maximum and thus non-Keplerian over a finite range, while becoming asymptotically Keplerian at infinity, $R/(M_{\scriptscriptstyle{\infty}}G)\rightarrow \infty$. The adoption of the string frame rather than Einstein frame is the consequence of the fundamental symmetry principle. Our result opens up a new scheme to solve the dark matter/energy problems by modifying General Relativity at `short' range of $R/(M_{\scriptscriptstyle{\infty}}G)$.

We apply the Wald formalism to obtain masses and angular momenta of black holes in three dimensional gravity theories using the first order formalism. Wald formalism suggests that the entropy of a black hole can be defined by an integration of a conserved charge on the bifurcation horizon, and mass and angular momentum of a black hole as an integration of some charge variation form at spatial infinity. The action of three dimensional gravity theories can be represented by a form including some auxiliary fields. As well-known examples we have calculated masses and angular momenta of some black holes in topologically massive gravity and new massive gravity theories using the first order formalism. We have also calculated mass and angular momentum of BTZ black hole and new type black hole in minimal massive gravity theory with the action represented by the first order formalism. We have also calculated the entropy and central charges of new type black hole. According to $AdS/CFT$ correspondence we suggest that the left and right moving temperatures should be equal to the Hawking temperature in the case of new type black hole in minimal massive gravity.

Employing the "semi-covariant" differential geometry, we spell a functional in which each term is completely covariant with respect to $\mathbf{O}(4,4)$ T-duality, doubled diffeomorphisms, $\mathbf{Spin}(1,3)$ local Lorentz symmetry and, separately, $\mathbf{HS}(4)$ higher spin gauge symmetry. We identify a minimal set of BPS-like conditions whose solutions automatically satisfy the full Euler-Lagrange equations. As such a solution, we derive a linear dilaton vacuum. With extra algebraic constraints further supplemented, the BPS-like conditions reduce to the bosonic Vasiliev equations.
