We present a Dirac mass model based on $A_{4}$ modular symmetry within Type-I seesaw framework. This extension of Standard Model requires three right-handed neutrinos and three heavy Dirac fermions superfields, all singlet under $SU(2)_{L}$ symmetry. The scalar sector is extended by the inclusion of a $SU(2)_{L}$ singlet superfield, $χ$. Here, the modular symmetry plays a crucial role as the Yukawa couplings acquire modular forms, which are expressed in terms of Dedekind eta function $η(τ)$. Therefore, the Yukawa couplings follow transformations akin to other matter fields, thereby obviating the necessity of additional flavon fields. The acquisition of $vev$ by complex modulus $τ$ leads to the breaking of $A_{4}$ modular symmetry. We have obtained predictions on neutrino oscillation parameters, for example, the model favours ( θ_{23} ) to be in the lower octant and normal hierarchy for neutrino mass spectrum. Furthermore, we find that heavy Dirac fermions, in our model, can decay to produce observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe through Dirac leptogenesis.

The scotogenic model presents an elegant and succinct framework for elucidating the origin of tiny neutrino masses within the framework of the Standard Model, employing radiative corrections within the domain of the dark sector. We investigate the possibility of achieving low-scale leptogenesis in the singlet-triplet scotogenic model (STSM), where dark matter mediates neutrino mass generation. We initially considered a scenario involving two moderately hierarchical heavy fermions, N and $Σ$, wherein the lepton asymmetry is generated by the out-of-equilibrium decay of both particles. Our analysis indicates that the scale of leptogenesis in this scenario is similar to that of standard thermal leptogenesis and is approximately $M_{N,Σ}\sim 10^{9}$ GeV, which is comparable to the Type-I seesaw case. Further, we consider the case with three heavy fermions ($N_1$, $N_2$, and $Σ$) with the hierarchy $M_{N_{1}} < M_Σ \ll M_{N_{2}}$, which yields the lower bound on heavy fermions up to 3.1 TeV, therefore significantly reduce the scale of the leptogenesis up to TeV scale. The only prerequisite is suppression in the $N_{1}$ and $Σ$ Yukawa couplings, which causes suppressed washout effects and a small active neutrino mass of about $10^{-5}$ eV. This brings about the fascinating insight that experiments aiming to measure the absolute neutrino mass scale can test low-scale leptogenesis in the scotogenic model. Further, the hyperchargeless scalar triplet $Ω$ provides an additional contribution to mass of the $W$-boson explaining CDF-II result.

Deviations from the standard neutrino oscillation or the sidereal modulation in neutrino events will smoking-gun experimental signature of Lorentz and CPT violation. In this study, we investigate the impact of the sidereal effect on standard neutrino oscillation measurements within the context of the NOνA experiment.
Additionally, we assess the sensitivity of the NOνA experiment to detect Lorentz-violating interactions, taking into account the sidereal effect. Furthermore, we highlight potential of the NOνA experiment to set the new constraints on anisotropic Lorentz-violating parameters.

A primary goal of the upcoming Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is to measure the $\mathcal{O}(10)$ MeV neutrinos produced by a Galactic core-collapse supernova if one should occur during the lifetime of the experiment. The liquid-argon-based detectors planned for DUNE are expected to be uniquely sensitive to the $ν_e$ component of the supernova flux, enabling a wide variety of physics and astrophysics measurements. A key requirement for a correct interpretation of these measurements is a good understanding of the energy-dependent total cross section $σ(E_ν)$ for charged-current $ν_e$ absorption on argon. In the context of a simulated extraction of supernova $ν_e$ spectral parameters from a toy analysis, we investigate the impact of $σ(E_ν)$ modeling uncertainties on DUNE's supernova neutrino physics sensitivity for the first time. We find that the currently large theoretical uncertainties on $σ(E_ν)$ must be substantially reduced before the $ν_e$ flux parameters can be extracted reliably: in the absence of external constraints, a measurement of the integrated neutrino luminosity with less than 10\% bias with DUNE requires $σ(E_ν)$ to be known to about 5%. The neutrino spectral shape parameters can be known to better than 10% for a 20% uncertainty on the cross-section scale, although they will be sensitive to uncertainties on the shape of $σ(E_ν)$. A direct measurement of low-energy $ν_e$-argon scattering would be invaluable for improving the theoretical precision to the needed level.

The trimaximal mixing scheme (TM$_2$) results in \textit{``magic"} neutrino mass matrix ($M_ν$) which is known to accommodate neutrino oscillation data. In this paper, we propose a phenomenological ansatz for $M_ν$ by extending the magic symmetry that leads to further reduction in the number of free parameters, thereby, increasing the predictability of the model. The neutrino mixing parameters, effective Majorana mass $m_{ee}$ and $CP$ invariants ($J_{CP}, I_1,I_2$) are found to exhibit strong correlations for TM$_2$ mixing paradigm. One of the generic feature of the model is the requirement of non-maximal $θ_{23}$ for possible $CP$ violation measurable in neutrino oscillation experiments. The observables $m_{ee}$ and sum of neutrino masses ($\sum m_i$) have imperative implications for yet unknown neutrino mass hierarchy. For inverted hierarchy, the lower bound on $m_{ee}>0.02$ eV, predicted by the model, is found to be within the sensitivity reach of the $0νββ$ decay experiments. Also, cosmological bound of $0.12$ eV on $\sum m_i$, at 95\% CL, refutes inverted hierarchy implying TM$_2$ with normal hierarchy as the only viable possibility in the model. We have, also, illustrated a scenario wherein such a construction of the neutrino mass matrix can be realized using $Δ(54)$ symmetry in the framework of Type-I+II seesaw mechanism.

In the framework of anomaly free $U(1)_{L_μ-L_τ}$ model, charged scalar fields give rise to massive gauge boson ($Z_{μτ}$) through spontaneous symmetry breaking. $Z_{μτ}$ leads to one loop contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment. These scalar fields may, also, appear in the structure of right-handed neutrino mass matrix, thus, connecting the possible explanation of muon ($g-2$) and low energy neutrino phenomenology through $vevs$ associated with the scalar fields. In the present work, we consider textures of inverse neutrino mass matrix ($M_ν^{-1}$) wherein any two elements of the mass matrix are zero. In this ansatz, with Dirac neutrino mass matrix diagonal, the zero(s) of right-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrix correspond to zero(s) in the low energy effective neutrino mass matrix (within Type-I seesaw). We have realized two such textures of $M_ν^{-1}$ accommodating the muon ($g-2$) and low energy neutrino phenomenology. The requirement of successful explanation of muon ($g-2$), further, constrain the allowed parameter space of the model and results in sharp correlations amongst neutrino mixing angles, $CP$ invariants and effective Majorana mass ($M_{ee}$). The model explains muon ($g-2$) for $M_{Z_{μτ}}$ in the range ($0.035$ GeV-$0.100$ GeV) and $g_{μτ}\approx\mathcal{O}(10^{-4}$) which is found to be consistent with constraints coming from the experiments like CCFR, COHERENT, BABAR, NA62 and NA64.

Axionlike particles (ALPs) can be produced in the Sun, and are considered viable candidates for the cosmological dark matter (DM). It can decay into two photons or interact with matter. We identify new inelastic channels of inverse Primakoff processes due to atomic excitation and ionization. Their cross sections are derived by incorporating full electromagnetic fields of atomic charge and current densities, and computed by well-benchmarked atomic many-body methods. Complementing data from the underground XENONnT and surface TEXONO experiments are analyzed. Event rates and sensitivity reaches are evaluated with respect to solar- and DM-ALPs. New parameter space in ALP couplings with the photons versus ALP masses in (1~eV$-$10~keV) not previously accessible to laboratory experiments are probed and excluded with solar-ALPs. However, at regions where DM-ALPs have already decayed, there would be no ALP-flux and hence no interactions at the detectors in direct search experiments. No physics constraints can be derived. Future projects would be able to evade the stability bound and open new observable windows in (100~eV$-$1~MeV) for DM-ALPs.

In this work we have investigated the phenomenological consequences of two-zero textures of \textit{inverse} neutrino mass matrix ($M_ν^{-1}$) in light of the large mixing angle (LMA) and large mixing angle-\textit{dark} (LMA-D) solutions, later of which originates if neutrinos exhibit non-standard interactions with matter. Out of fifteen possibilities, only seven two-zero textures of $M_ν^{-1}$ are found to be phenomenologically allowed under LMA and/or LMA-D descriptions. In particular, five textures are in consonance with both LMA and LMA-D solutions and are necessarily $CP$ violating while remaining two textures are found to be consistent with LMA solution only. The textures with vanishing (1, 1) element of $M_ν^{-1}$ are, in general, disallowed. All the textures allowed under LMA and LMA-D solutions follow the same neutrino mass hierarchy. Furthermore, textures with vanishing (2, 3) element of $M_ν^{-1}$ are found to be either disallowed or are consistent with LMA description only. We have, also, obtained the implication of the model for $0νββ$ decay amplitude $|M_{ee}|$. For most of the textures the calculated $3σ$ lower bound on $|M_{ee}|$ is $\mathcal{O}(10^{-2})$, which is within the sensitivity reach of $0νββ$ decay experiments. We have, also, proposed a flavor model based on discrete non-Abelian flavor group $A_4$ wherein such textures of $M_ν^{-1}$ can be realized within Type-I seesaw setting.

Since excellent angle and energy reconstruction are necessary to detect this monoenergetic, directional neutrino flux, DUNE with its vast volume and reconstruction capabilities, is a promising candidate for a KDAR neutrino search. In this work, we evaluate the proposed KDAR neutrino search strategies by realistically modeling both neutrino-nucleus interactions and the response of DUNE. We find that, although reconstruction of the neutrino energy and direction is difficult with current techniques in the relevant energy range, the superb energy resolution, angular resolution, and particle identification offered by DUNE can still permit great signal/background discrimination. Moreover, there are non-standard scenarios in which searches at DUNE for KDAR in the Sun can probe dark matter interactions.

Detectors with low thresholds for electron recoil open a new window to direct searches of sub-GeV dark matter (DM) candidates. In the past decade, many strong limits on DM-electron interactions have been set, but most on the one which is spin-independent (SI) of both dark matter and electron spins. In this work, we study DM-atom scattering through a spin-dependent (SD) interaction at leading order (LO), using well-benchmarked, state-of-the-art atomic many-body calculations. Exclusion limits on the SD DM-electron cross section are derived with data taken from experiments with xenon and germanium detectors at leading sensitivities. In the DM mass range of 0.1 - 10 GeV, the best limits set by the XENON1T experiment: $σ_e^{\textrm{(SD)}}<10^{-41}-10^{-40}\,\textrm{cm}^2$ are comparable to the ones drawn on DM-neutron and DM-proton at slightly bigger DM masses. The detector's responses to the LO SD and SI interactions are analyzed. In nonrelativistic limit, a constant ratio between them leads to an indistinguishability of the SD and SI recoil energy spectra. Relativistic calculations however show the scaling starts to break down at a few hundreds of eV, where spin-orbit effects become sizable. We discuss the prospects of disentangling the SI and SD components in DM-electron interactions via spectral shape measurements, as well as having spin-sensitive experimental signatures without SI background.

Neutrino-nucleus elastic scattering ($ν{\rm A}_{el}$) provides a unique laboratory to study the quantum-mechanical (QM) coherency effects in electroweak interactions. The deviations of the cross-sections from those of completely coherent systems can be quantitatively characterized through a coherency parameter $α( q^2 )$. The relations between $α$ and the underlying nuclear physics in terms of nuclear form factors are derived. The dependence of cross-section on $α( q^2 )$ for the various neutrino sources is presented. The $α( q^2 )$-values are evaluated from the measured data of the COHERENT CsI and Ar experiments. Complete coherency and decoherency conditions are excluded by the CsI data with $p {=} 0.004$ at $q^2 {=} 3.1 {\times} 10^{3} ~ {\rm MeV^2}$ and with $p {=} 0.016$ at $q^2 {=} 2.3 {\times} 10^{3} ~ {\rm MeV^2}$, respectively, verifying that both QM superpositions and nuclear many-body effects contribute to $ν{\rm A}_{el}$ interactions.

In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level (C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low $m_χ$ region. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. We for the first time extended the limit to the $m_χ<$ 6 GeV/$c^2$ region.

We adopt the profile likelihood ratio method for analysis of data in the presence of backgrounds. An energy threshold of 160 eV was achieved, much better than the 475 eV of CDEX-1A with an exposure of 335.6 kg-days. This significantly improves the sensitivity for the bosonic dark matter below 0.8 keV among germanium detectors. Limits are also placed on the coupling $g_{Ae} < 2.48 \times 10^{-11}$ from Compton, bremsstrahlung, atomic-recombination and de-excitation channels and $g^{eff}_{AN} \times g_{Ae} < 4.14 \times 10^{-17}$ from a $^{57}$Fe M1 transition at 90\% confidence level.

Tremendous efforts are required to scale the summit of observing neutrinoless double beta decay ($0 νββ$). This article quantitatively explores the interplay between exposure (target mass X data taking time) and background levels in $0 νββ$ experiments. In particular, background reduction can substantially alleviate the necessity of unrealistic large exposure as the normal mass hierarchy (NH) is probed. The non-degenerate (ND)-NH can be covered with an exposure of O(100) ton-year, which is only an order of magnitude larger than those planned for next generation projects - provided that the background could be reduced by 0($10^{-6}$) relative to the current best levels. It follows that background suppression will be playing increasingly important and investment-effective, if not determining, roles in future $0 νββ$ experiments with sensitivity goals of approaching and covering ND-NH.

Datasets with a total live time of 3.2 yr within a 4.2 yr span are analyzed with analysis threshold of 250 eVee. Limits on WIMP-nucleus ($χ$-$N$) spin-independent cross sections as function of WIMP mass ($m_χ$) at 90\% confidence level (C.L.) are derived using the dark matter halo model. Within the context of the standard halo model, the 90\% C.L. allowed regions implied by the DAMA/LIBRA and CoGeNT AM-based analysis are excluded at $>$99.99\% and 98\% C.L., respectively. These results correspond to the best sensitivity at $m_χ$$<$6$~{\rm GeV}/c^2$ among WIMP AM measurements to date.

Next-generation xenon detectors with multi-ton-year exposure are powerful direct probes of dark matter candidates, in particular the favorite weakly-interacting massive particles. Coupled with the features of low thresholds and backgrounds, they are also excellent telescopes of solar neutrinos. In this paper, we study the discovery potential of ton-scale xenon detectors in electromagnetic moments of solar neutrinos. Relevant neutrino-atom scattering processes are calculated by applying a state-of-the-arts atomic many-body method--relativistic random phase approximation (RRPA). Limits on these moments are derived from existing data and estimated with future experiment specifications. With one ton-year exposure, XENON-1T can improve the effective milli-charge constraint by a factor two. With LZ and DARWIN, the projected improvement on the solar neutrino effective milli-charge(magnetic moment) is around 7(2) times smaller than the current bound. If LZ can keep the same background level and push the electron recoil threshold to 0.5 keV, the projected improvement on milli-charge(magnetic moment) is about 10(3) times smaller than the current bound.

A state-of-the-art many-body method is used to evaluate the spin-independent atomic ionization cross sections of LDM-electron scattering, with an estimated error about 20%. New upper limits are derived on parameter space spanned by LDM mass and effective coupling strengths using data from the CDMSlite, XENON10, XENON100, and XENON1T experiments. Comparison with existing calculations shows the importance of atomic structure. Two aspects particularly important are relativistic effect for inner-shell ionization and final-state free electron wave function which sensitively depends on the underlying atomic approaches.

Relativistic millicharged particles ($χ_q$) have been proposed in various extensions to the Standard Model of particle physics. We consider the scenarios where they are produced at nuclear reactor core and via interactions of cosmic-rays with the earth's atmosphere. Millicharged particles could also be candidates for dark matter, and become relativistic through acceleration by supernova explosion shock waves. The atomic ionization cross section of $χ_q$ with matter are derived with the equivalent photon approximation. Smoking-gun signatures with significant enhancement in the differential cross section are identified. New limits on the mass and charge of $χ_q$ are derived, using data taken with a point-contact germanium detector with 500g mass functioning at an energy threshold of 300~eV at the Kuo-Sheng Reactor Neutrino Laboratory.

The transition magnetic moment of a sterile-to-active neutrino conversion gives rise to not only radiative decay of a sterile neutrino, but also its non-standard interaction (NSI) with matter. For sterile neutrinos of keV-mass as dark matter candidates, their decay signals are actively searched for in cosmic X-ray spectra. In this work, we consider the NSI that leads to atomic ionization, which can be detected by direct dark matter experiments. It is found that this inelastic scattering process for a nonrelativistic sterile neutrino has a pronounced enhancement in the differential cross section at energy transfer about half of its mass, manifesting experimentally as peaks in the measurable energy spectra. The enhancement effects gradually smear out as the sterile neutrino becomes relativistic. Using data taken with germanium detectors that have fine energy resolution in keV and sub-keV regimes, constraints on sterile neutrino mass and its transition magnetic moment are derived and compared with those from astrophysical observations.

Similar predictions for classes $B_3$($B_4$) of two texture zeros and classes $B_3$($B_4$) of two vanishing cofactors are expected. However, a preference for a shift in the quadrant of the Dirac-type CP violating phase($δ$) in contrast to the earlier analysis has been predicted for a relatively large value of the reactor neutrino mixing angle($θ_{13}$) for class B of two texture zeros and two vanishing cofactors for an inverted mass spectrum. No such shift in the quadrant of $δ$ has been found for the normal mass spectrum.

The electromagnetic properties of neutrinos, which are either trivial or negligible in the context of the Standard Model, can probe new physics and have significant implications in astrophysics and cosmology. The current best direct limits on the neutrino millicharges and magnetic moments are both derived from data taken with germanium detectors with low thresholds at keV levels. In this paper, we discuss in detail a robust, ab initio method: the multiconfiguration relativistic random phase approximation, that enables us to reliably understand the germanium detector response at the sub-keV level, where atomic many-body physics matters. Using existing data with sub-keV thresholds, limits on reactor antineutrino's millicharge, magnetic moment, and charge radius squared are derived. With the advent of detectors with sub-keV sensitivities, atomic ionization has been identified as a promising avenue to probe possible neutrino electromagnetic properties. The interaction cross-sections induced by millicharged neutrinos are evaluated with the ab-initio multi-configuration relativistic random-phase approximation. There is significant enhancement at atomic binding energies compared to that when the electrons are taken as free particles. Positive signals would distinctly manifest as peaks at specific energies with known intensity ratios. Selected reactor neutrino data with germanium detectors at analysis threshold as low as 300 eV are studied. No such signatures are observed, and a combined limit on the neutrino charge fraction of | \numq | < 1.0 X 10^{-12} at 90% confidence level is derived.

Assuming Majorana nature of neutrinos, a general expression for the charged lepton corrections to scaling neutrino mixing has been obtained in the context of three flavor neutrino oscillations. Non-zero value of the reactor mixing angle is nicely accommodated. It is noted that scaling in the effective neutrino mass matrix is equivalent to the presence of two vanishing minors corresponding to first row elements of the effective neutrino mass matrix. A value of reactor mixing angle which is fairly close to the currently measured best fit is predicted for charged lepton corrections of the order of the Cabbibo angle. We, also, present symmetry realization of such texture structures in the framework of type-I seesaw mechanism with non-diagonal charged lepton mass matrix using discrete Abelian flavor symmetry.

We perform a systematic study of neutrino mass matrices having a vanishing cofactor and an equality between two cofactors of the mass matrix. Such texture structures of the effective neutrino mass matrix arise from type-I seesaw mechanism when the Dirac neutrino mass matrix is diagonal with equal elements and the right-handed Majorana neutrino mass matrix has hybrid textures with one equality of matrix elements and one zero matrix element. For three right-handed neutrinos there are sixty possible hybrid textures out of which only six are excluded by the present experimental data. We show that such textures can be derived using discrete symmetries. The predictions of experimentally allowed textures are examined for unknown parameters such as the effective Majorana mass of the electron neutrino and the Dirac-type CP-violating phase.

We study the implications of the existence of two equalities between the elements or cofactors of the neutrino mass matrix. There are sixty five structures of this type for each case. Phenomenological implications for unknown parameters like the effective Majorana mass of the electron neutrino and CP-violating phases are examined for the viable cases. To illustrate how such forms of the neutrino mass matrices may be realized, we also present a simple $A_4$ model for one of the classes in each case.

At zeroth order the model gives degenerate neutrino masses and accommodates tribimaximal mixing. We introduce perturbations in terms of a small and complex parameter. We study the effects of breaking S3 symmetry in the neutrino mass matrix for the masses and mixing matrix of neutrinos. At zeroth order the model gives degenerate neutrino masses and accommodates tribimaximal mixing. We introduce perturbations in terms of a small and complex parameter. The perturbations are introduced in a manner such that the S3 symmetry is broken by its elements in the same representation. Successive perturbations introduce mass splitting, sizable non-zero reactor mixing angle and CP violation. This scheme of breaking S3 symmetry can reproduce a relatively large reactor mixing angle as suggested by the recent T2K results. The effective neutrino mass is predicted to be large which is testable in the ongoing and forthcoming neutrinoless double beta decay experiments.

Abstract:
In the flavor basis there are seven cases of two vanishing minors in the neutrino mass matrix which can accommodate the present neutrino oscillation data including the recent T2K data. It is found that two of these cases, namely $B_5$ and $B_6$ predict near maximal atmospheric neutrino mixing in the limit of large effective neutrino mass. This feature remains irrespective of the values of solar an…

It is found that two of these cases, namely $B_5$ and $B_6$ predict near maximal atmospheric neutrino mixing in the limit of large effective neutrino mass. This feature remains irrespective of the values of solar and reactor mixing angles. A non-zero reactor mixing angle is naturally accommodated in these textures.

Abstract:
Using the data from SNO NCD phase, SuperK, Borexino and KamLAND Solar phase, we derive in a model independent way, bounds on the possible components in the solar neutrino flux. We update the limits on the antineutrino ($\barν_x$) flux and sterile ($ν_s$) component and compare them with the previous results obtained using SNO Salt phase data and data from SuperKamiokande experiments. It is affirmed that the upper bound on $\barν_x$ is independent of the $ν_s$ component. We recover the $ν_s$ and $\barν_x$ upper bounds existing in the literature. We also obtain bounds on $f_B$, the SSM normalization factor and the common parameter range for $f_B$ and the $ν_s$ components in the light of latest data. In summary, we update, in a model independent way, the previous results existing in literature in the light of latest solar neutrino data.

Abstract:
We study indirect CPT violating effects in B_d meson decays and mixing, taking into account the recent constraints on the CPT violating parameters from the Belle collaboration. The life time difference of the B_d meson mass eigenstates, expected to be negligible in the standard model and many of its CPT conserving extensions, could be sizeable (\sim a few percent of the total width) due to break…

We study indirect CPT violating effects in B_d meson decays and mixing, taking into account the recent constraints on the CPT violating parameters from the Belle collaboration. The life time difference of the B_d meson mass eigenstates, expected to be negligible in the standard model and many of its CPT conserving extensions, could be sizeable (\sim a few percent of the total width) due to breakdown of this fundamental symmetry. The time evolution of the direct CP violating asymmetries in one amplitude dominated processes (inclusive semileptonic B_d decays, in particular) turn out to be particularly sensitive to this effect.
